      We actually just posted a 3 year update review of the T8. It has really held up over alot of use. Expensive yes, but justifiably worth it in my opinion!

    I have had this tent for two years now camping with my wife and two small children. Hands down the best tent I have ever owned. It has rained hard several times when we have been camping and it has never leaked a drop. We are at the point where I can pull into a campsite and have the tent set up with air mattresses and bedding in 7 minutes. I always get a lot of people asking about it at campgrounds. It’s one of the best things I have ever purchased and well worth the price. Only thing I will say negative is I will agree with the stakes being cheap, but I just bought a few new nicer ones.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great comment! I am in full agreement with you. I did have some water get it in a bad storm around one window. I seam sealed that little area and haven't had an issue since!! Love the speed of getting this both up AND back down. Ya I've replaced with some inexpensive stakes from Walmart. They work great and are orange to match!! 😀 Thanks for the comment!! 🤜 🤛

      Seam sealing is putting a coating of a waterproof liquid over the seams. My gazelle ended up needing only a little bit around a couple places. You can check out this video for the pricedure. th-cam.com/video/ScpeP-_a-rk/w-d-xo.html

    1. You have great helpers
    2. Thank you for reminding all "that there is a manual"
    3. I replace all tent stakes that come with tents with the spikes sold individually at Walmart. They are less than $2 per spike and well worth it.
    4. Love the big tent storage bag. They are usually 2 sizes too small.
    Overall what is nice is that the tent takes little effort to set up. Nothing worse than getting in a campground late at night or when it is raining and have to set up a tent that is unusually complicated. I stopped tent camping a few years ago, due to my unlucky choice of camping during rain storms with the kids. This T8 looks like a great choice all around.

    Tips:
    Use a tarp, cheap one from Walmart works well, as a footprint. It will help to protect your floor. I also like a rug inside my Gazelle as it helps to protect the floor from wear. Plain old Astroturf type works well and doesn’t soak up water. Lastly, get better stakes and some parachute cord. You’ll thank me later.

    I have this tent but only used once before COVID. Getting read for a trip now and the rain fly doesn't fit right. The poles that stick out won't go into the metal holes at the top. I'm baffled. @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome. We are here to help! The T4 plus vs the T8 has the same floor space. On one half of the tent they are identical. On the other half the T4 plus is a screen room with a wide open entry. There are 3 additional poles that must be installed after the tent is set up. Removing the tent from the bag doesn't reduce the length any. The length is 65 inches (165 cm).

    When it rains, how easy is it to dry the bottom of the tent when you pack it up so that it doesn't pack up wet? Usually on a regular tent we fold it in half and dry one side then the other. Thanks for the video!

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you putting the rainfly on with all of the hub walls pulled but the roofs down? If so that is correct. You just go in and push the roof hub up forcefully. My 5' 5" daughter has some trouble with it. It does feel like it could break but ive never had an issue with it. Give it a good solid shove!

  • @sandyc1100
    @sandyc1100 ปีที่แล้ว

    did you have to velcro the floor in the big tent? that part was not clear. you show doing it on some separate item that i have no idea what it was. started to turn off video then u showed a cot inside. the way the cot is it takes up most of the room. what brand cot is it? whats a hub and do 2 come with the tent or is that a separate purchase? looks like a lot cut out on take down.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      The floor is already installed when you get the tent. You can take it out if you want. I don't intend to take it out so i didn't show it. The other item i DID do it in is called the Cinch Hub. It's green. The cot is a Disco Bed bunkable cots. It does take up most the room. A "hub" is just a side wall of the tent, specifically the middle where all the poles connect. You don't have to buy anything separate. It's not too tough to put down given the size.

    Great video on the T8! I’m currently on the fence between the T8 & the T4+. T4+ seems to be more popular but I think the simplicity of the T8 is slightly better not having extra poles.
    Have you had any issues with the doors? My wife brought up that it is kind of a weird shape to get in and out of.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the exact same issue with the T4+. I didn't want to mess with any poles to set it up. I haven't had any issue with the door effectively. It IS awkward though. Check out our video on the Magellan tent. Same design but a much better door. It's cheaper but the rain performance is not as good. You'd have to spray the fabric and maybe seal the seams to make it work. Or use a tarp if you don't mind doing that.

    • @cyntiaspadafore1457
      @cyntiaspadafore1457 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am doing the same thing I want the screened in room and then just walk into my bedroom instead of going out of the tent into a screened canopy having to take down two things put up two things. I watched a video on the
      T 4+ and absolutely fell in love with it.

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @CoachRiqui
    @CoachRiqui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! I watch the Magellan first and now this one, we tend to have heavy rains here in Florida, I’m guessing T8 is better option for this weather than Magellan… hahahahahaha. Joke aside, how did you place the disc o beds in the gazelle? We have the same bunk for the kids but never used in a tent, only visiting family or in a hotel

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha nice!! Ya unless you're willing to put a tarp over it is recommend the gazelle. So to get the discobeds to fit you have to orient the cots long-wise in the tent. So one end of the cot is up against the far end of the tent and the other legs are actually over the divider and into the other hub area of the tent. Not sure if that explains it. I'll add another comment with a link to a video where you can see it setup. Thanks for watching and asking!! 🤜🤛

    Glad that you went into such detail about the hubs when you folded it up to bag it. I'll be thinking that when I fold mine up from now on..the hubs want to hang out. It does look like an upside down umbrella when it's all folded together. I also noticed that you opened all the windows and doors before you took it down is that to help with folding it up?

      Its funny, a lot of people have stopped watching the review by the time I get to the fold up process. Glad you hung around till then! I ordered a T_4 Plus and I am waiting for it to arrive. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying yours. I have two concerns however. First, I saw in a video that the screen room entrance is a challenge because of continuously having to rip the Velcro at the floor seem. Also the zipper doesn't go all the way down went closing from inside. The second concern is if I can fit this tent into my small hatchback since the bag looks very long. Did you have any issues like this?

    • @DMSAdventures
      @DMSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the T4 plus, i have the T8 so not sure on the zipper issue. I believe the pack size is the same though and it is very long. It barely fits in our 5' 5" Crew can short bed. Just a couple of inches to spare!!

    • @vonzellable
      @vonzellable ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigbadLN Sorry just noticed this. Yes the velcro on the screen room door does 'rip' off from the bathtub but there is not much you can do. I have not had an issue with it closing. No issue with bugs unless I forget to zip it closed. The bag is LONG. A little over 5' so if you don't have that linear distance in your car then this might not work for you. I drive an outback and sometimes I put it inside other times I strap it to the roof. (I purchased the overland bag in case it rains) I see they just came out with a slightly smaller version T3 Tandem. the pack size on that is just under 5'. I just don't like the Green colorway. nothing like waking up on a sunny clear day with the orange glow.

      @@DMSAdventures thanks watches your other videos was going to pay extra for the gazelle, now doesn’t seem it’s worth it and always out of stock. Seem they are made by same manufacturer in China with some tweaks.

      I'm really glad to help you make an informed decision. I will say though that the materials of the gazelle are definitely sturdier than the Magellan!! The difference in the rain flys is huge in big design and thickness! I hope whatever you decide works out awesome for you!!

      The money you save on the Magellan more than covers the cost of an Extra Tarp to cover you in a downpour.

      It does cover the cost for sure. But for lazy people like me, i don't want to spend any time putting the tarp over, securing it and then putting it away. That's just me! Thanks for joining the discussion!

      Ya i debated on the T4+. It was ultimately those poles you have to add to the plus side that started me away from it!! Awesome, lol forward to seeing you there!!

    do the windows zip on the inside? did you mention that or did i miss it? why not talk dimensions or show a sleeping bag or air mattress inside? sorry i thought walk thru was incomplete.

      The windows do zip on the inside. It's a tough balance between showing information and keeping the video short enough for most people's attention span. There are other adventure videos where we feature the tent and show it full of gear etc. Thanks for the feedback!
