Just bought this tent a few weeks ago for only $150 and set it up in under 20 minutes. Slept really well with my 3 kids and it rained ALL night. Small amount of condensation inside but zero leaks anywhere.
I do cub scouting with my grandsons.. My daughter got this tent for us 3 years ago... Iam 58 years young and this is the nicest tent ever .. My 10 and 5 year old grandson put it up .. Best tent ever...
Great job getting out there with them!! I hope I'm still able to do so in 12 years!! We still have the tent but haven't used it in a while as we got a new one thats even a little quicker to set up... especially all by myself!! Hey thanks for watching and taking a moment to comment!! 😀 We appreciate it!
That is fantastic!! Giants we've had this one going on like... 5 years i think. We recently seam sealed it but we've got some mild on it we need to take care of! Hey thanks for watching and taking a moment to comment!!
Funny, I lived in an ozark orange tent like yours. 6 or. 8 person for 3 weeks in heavy rain and wind and cold weather, it was an older model several years ago and it actually worked. I mean no water inside, two queen air mattresses, room divider and room to spare and good tent material… now all newer ozark tent models have thin tent material that repels rain but if you touch it, comes right inside tent… ever since Covid the quality of products have gone down..
This was definitely before covid and we ended up getting something new bc it leaked terribly after many years of use. Even tried seam sealing and spraying. It was a great tent for a long time though!!
@@DMSAdventures your very welcome you help me a lot but I think I'm going to try the air inflatable tent because I don't have the help that you have lol 😁😁😁😁 lil man
@@sashasaa2962 i used to have air inflatable Tents. I had a lot of trouble with them. Maybe they are better now but we had multiple air leaks on the tubes. I love the concept but didn't have good luck with them.
I need you to explain to my hubby why I need more than one tent. I am like you and have various tents for various trips. He isn't a camper so doesn't understand why I need more than one tent lol.
GREAT comment!! That is SO funny because I just shot a video today of ANOTHER tent and my daughter does the intro where she says we need an intervention for my tent obsession!! I'd be happy to try to convince him but its just something... inside of us that must be expressed!! :-) Thanks for watching AND commenting! I hope you can bring your husband into the fold one day!!
You need the right tent for the right camping trip.. it’s like tools. Always need the right tool in your inventory because you never know when you might need it for a specific task…
This was one of their better tents a few years ago (green), but these new popout closets or the bonus room are not covered by the rain fly on dome tents or the fitted tarp on this one. The gear bays ALWAYS seem to leak without adding a rigged tarp. I would likely turn the roof around to have the Porch Roof overhang the back.
Ya i agree, it can handle a light rain but anything more and it's a problem. I ended up rigging 2 tarps over it in one storm we went through! Thanks for the watch and the comment!!
@@DMSAdventures good review. I tried to buy one of the older model without the popout as NOS as mine is aging. Couldn't. The new one is much thinner and more transparent fabric. I assume I'll need to waterproof spray thr heck out of that added pocket. Sometimes things get better one way and worse another.
That is so true! When i got into reviewing Tents it baffles me that making it rain proof is NOT the highest priority!! I have a Cinch tent that is super expensive but I've never had a drop off water in it or seam sealed/sprayed it!!
I think a full would fit width wise but it would stick out into the main area a fair amount. You won't fit any normal size mattress FULLY inside the bonus room.
Actually we just got rid of it about a month ago! We got a TON of use out of it and it was a great tent! It just got old, leaky and moldy and it was time for a new one!
How did you get the top flat when you were folding it back up? It looks like you are sliding poles closed but it's hard to tell with the rain fly covering what you are doing.
The very middle top of the tent folds down to the floor. Then each pole that goes out to the corners has 2 sections connected by an "elbow" that bends. Each one of those sections extends. The section connected to the Hub extends to make the tent longer and the other section extends to make the tent taller. Not sure if that description helps any. 🤔
@@DMSAdventures Ozark must have changed the design. The poles from the elbow connect to a circle hinge (like in the middle), then a longer pole connects from there.
Ya its possible they changed it up. For the whole tent there are a total of 8.... sections that extend on this one. 2 sections on 4 poles for the total of 8.
Love your review. I just bought this tent yesterday and set it up in my backyard to make sure everything is there, it works and I know how to do it. Two things, once of the legs keeps collapsing if I hit the tent or shake the tent in a similar fashion of if it was a light to medium wind.. has this happened to you? Also, noticed there isn't an air vent at the bottom, does this tent feel hot? Thanks
I have not had the poles collapse. If they are it's possible the poles is just not locked in all the way. You should hear a loud click on each pole extension. I've THOUGHT i had them all in place before and turned out one pole wasn't locked in. I've never had issues with the tent being abnormally hot. Good luck with your new tent!! I hope it works out for you!!
I can't recall the name. Go to our channel and check out the video "Seam Sealing the Trekker 3" we use the same seam sealer and fabric spray on that video.
It would depend on how tall the mattress is. There is enough floor space at the bottom but as the mattress gets taller the walls lean in. My guess is that it would fit but there would be zero room on the sides.
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you! We were out adventuring!! The main cabin is 14'x8' and the bonus room is 8'x6' for a total of 160 sqft. Most adults could dtand up straight in the main body but only small kids could stand in the bonus room. Hope that helps!
I believe Papo Cruz was asking what size tarp one WOULD need to cover it IF they wanted to. I haven't done that though. That being said I'd probably use the grommets in the tarp and then use bungee chords to connect the grommets to the same location as the rain fly attaches.
@@DMSAdventures I've only just gotten mine and did an initial setup. We flipped the rainfly around and figured we could use the awning part to cover the extra room. better than nothing but I found it very odd they would not include something for that.
@Shockeclipse That's a great idea! The awning would just pool rainwater if it's setup on the front! It didn't leak initially but over time it was the first to go.

That is awesome!! It was old age that finally made ours leak. Initially it was pretty water tight!
I am concerned after buying one recently that the lack of rainfly for the extra room is going to be a problem

Hello DMS, this appears to be a nice tent. Do you still use it? How does it compare to your Gazelle?

Question? The extra room over head screen, dose that leak with rain? Didn’t see a rain cover over top of it.
Not when it was new but it since has if we don't keep up on the seam sealing over the years. Hope that helps!
@@DMSAdventures what Sean sealant do you use on it. Looking to buy the tent in the next few days or so.
I can't recall the name. Go to our channel and check out the video "Seam Sealing the Trekker 3" we use the same seam sealer and fabric spray on that video.
Hi, can a king size air mattress fit in the main room? not the private room.
It would depend on how tall the mattress is. There is enough floor space at the bottom but as the mattress gets taller the walls lean in. My guess is that it would fit but there would be zero room on the sides.
Where did you get the portable vacuum from?
Costco! We have since had to throw it away as the battery would not hold a charge anymore but we DO want another one.
Do you by chance know the exact measurements of the inside? Planning on getting this tent but I need to know the square footage.

@@DMSAdventures Thank you so much! I kept seeing different answers so I wasn’t sure which to go off of. I really appreciate your help, and your video!
Hey, what size tarp do you need to cover from the front to the back with that dome part?
About 14 feet
@@DMSAdventures what do you secure the tarp to?

No rainfly for the "extra room"?
That's correct. It was a "weak point" for the tent!

What vaccuum is that and how much was it
We haven't had that for a while. The battery stopped taking a charge. It was about $30 from Costco! Can't recall what brand it was though!
