Is it good for self defense? Of course! As long as you have the right ammo. Liberty Civil Defense 60gr flies at 2400fps and offers 740fpe. It does massive fragmentation with 11 inches of penetration all while offering 38% less felt recoil and more than half the weight of traditional ammo so you can carry it around all day without feeling weighed down. That's what's awesome about 10mm. It has so much ammo variety. It's all about choosing the right round for the job.
Out in California with all the crime and non sense that state is, you need a desert eagle in 50 ae... But oh wait... Nvm those are banned. Commiefornia. Sorry brother, hope everything only gets better for all of you over there. A beautiful state ruined by politicians.
@@toolsoffreedom407 I don't know if I'd want a 50ae, but they in fact are legal in California, it's the 50 bmg that's regulated. But yes here in California the world is wild and I know quite a few people who took multiple shots of 9mm and get around just fine. This being the reason I chose 10mm as my carry round, figure they use it as bear defense in Alaska, should be good people defense as well. Practice practice practice and a solid combat grip are how I'm able to tame the recoil and shoot the 29 pretty decently.
I thought the 50ae was on the banned roster. Too many good handguns are on that roster, it's ridiculous. 10mm is an amazing cartridge. Hands down the best auto cartridge out there. On my XDM it shoots like a 45. The 29 is a really good choice. Once I get more ammo and get more practice I might make it my daily. Stay safe brother!
@@toolsoffreedom407 its off roster but you can convert a 44 to 50 and its legal. There's always a way around our laws. Yes our laws suck but only if you let them. Thanks same to you .
10mm is actually a little more powerful on average than a 357 magnum. Not enough to make a difference. Only about 50 ft lbs. Like comparing a 38 Spc to a 9mm. The perp on the other end wouldn't notice. Point is, you aren't sacrificing any power at all going with the 10mm. In fact, it's a slight gain.
This is why I'm skeptical about carrying anything other than a revolver. It took the sky like a full minute to get one of these guns to shoot when it was jambing
He said that was the first time he had fired aluminum cases in that gun and had never had issues before. With the reliability of a quality pistol these days, you should have no issues as long as you test your carry ammo first. I will point out that when a revolver fails, and they do, they are usually out of the fight. Like, ain't firing again till a gunsmith fixes them. If they are well maintained and kept clean, they should be good. If you don't clean them after each range day, or they get knocked to the ground and dirt gets in the action, or you take a round to the hand and bone fragments fowl the action such as what happened to 2 of the FBI agents in the Miami Dade shootout, they can fail and fail big. These are not issues found in a good striker fire pistol. And I would consider every pistol he had as reliable, except the XD. They don't need to be cleaned, though I would. Dirt and sand aren't an issue. They carry more ammo and can realistically be reloaded. Plus you don't have to stage your trigger pull. I can't imagine having a charging bear or trying to beat an attacker to the shot with a long, heavy, staged trigger. I can put them in the circle at the range with my revolver standing there doing a nice, slow trigger pull. But if I shoot multiple targets at a fast pace, my Glock wins hands down. If I could train like Jerry Miculek I'd feel different but I'm just an average guy who's lucky to get out every 3 months to practice.
You can reliability shoot .40 s&w out of the g29 for concealment and full power 10mm in the wilderness. If I didn't own a g20 I'd definitely go that route.
Make sure you use a conversion barrel. Drop a 40 into the barrel and then a 10 see why you need it because it's going to slowly destroy your extractor and you don't want that to break in a self defensive situation brother.

You cant really judge it off your first 10 rounds, break it in and do another review. Also fix your support hand grip position and practice…it will probably be a little better. Nice vid tho 👌🏾 definitely more recoil than 9mm, visually.
Glock lists the Glock 29 as a subcompact. There is no compact large frame Glocks. A compact would have a grip larger than the subcompact 29 and shorter than the fullsize 20, like the 19 fits between the 26 and the 17. I think a true large frame compact with a 4.25 in barrel in 10mm with 12 rounds in the mag would be an awesome addition to the Glock lineup. Big enough grip to get your whole hand on, but easier to conceal than a 20. I EDC a 20 right now, but would give up a couple rounds of capacity to get something that concealed a little better. I just can't stand having my pinky hang off the grip. Subcompacts are bullshit.
Another awesome review!! I'm on the fence with my next purchase this helps I have a 9m canik it's heavy so I'm looking for light weight and a hard hitter 4 inch barrel is the way to go..cheers bro!!
I think the G29 is a good concept on paper but I've tried several of them over the years (along with the G30) and to me, they're terribly chunky. It works but it's like a fat G19/23 with a little bit shorter length grip and it's a lot bigger than a G26/27. Cool concept but for me, it's a no go.
I’m in the same boat, I like the feel of them but often find myself carrying other firearms over these 2. Also with me being in a area where the largest animal is a coyote. There’s really no point for me.
I have a G29 and it's really not bad recoil wise. If you want you can always shoot 40s&w through it too but I wouldn't carry this. Way too heavy and bigger than guns like the p365. With the right 9mm ammo it's plenty powerful unless you're in brown bear territory
I agree, though I referred to it as 'compact' because there is many smaller handguns in the market. Subcompacts have gotten incredibly small, and this one is on the bigger spectrum. Probably as big as Subcompacts get.
You don’t need an after market barrel. People strongly recommend getting one because Glock 10mm tend to blow up with reloads because people tend to make them too hot. So they say go get a lone wolf or something. No Glock has ever blown up from factory rounds high power or standard power.
@@10MMRUT what about the use of lead bullets building up lead then pressure in the stock polygonal barrel? I use HC lead as well. Also, it is said that reloaders have had difficulty resizing the brass after firing through the not fully supported chamber of the stock barrel.
@@michaelhodges8312 both statements are true. Avoid lead. Not to say the Glock can’t fire it and fire it well, proper maintenance of the barrel should prevent that issue but just in case stay away from lead. And yes the chamber is true, if your a person that constantly reloads, then you might consider an aftermarket barrel. Extractors like to extract "brass" better than "steel" or "harder" cases.
Great review! This firearm is a pocket "rocket" . This cartridge (10 MM Auto) can handle most problems if they are four legged or two legs.
