    Thanks Simon. As a new boat owner in Southwest Fl this is so helpful. My boat’s non skid deck is just starting to look a little dull. I only have a Griots G9 DA polisher. Do you think it would be ok to skip the heavy cut and just Stark polish (Lake Country orange pad) / Jescar seal then Regular Si02 for maintenance? Keep up the good work.

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Likely no, I don’t think it would be a good idea to skip the heavy cut step. 3-steps at the minimum almost always. Jescar & SiO2 for Maintenance ✅

    @martinpadgett4440 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've applied Jescar and am very happy with it. I am a little confused about what soap will make it last the longest? Its not technically ceramic but is the sio2 soap still the best? I have been using woodys wax extremely dilute but I'm wondering if that stripping it. Thanks

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use a ph balanced or SiO2 infused soap. Starke carry’s both of these products. Woodys wax is not helping your polymer :)

  • @911skle3
    @911skle3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Simon what happens to polymer and ceramic coatings when the shine dims? Are they just naturally burning off or do they require tougher compounding to remove and prep for next coating? I have a large boat and the professional waxing is not cutting it and want to step up to something that lasts the season on the Great Lakes.

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will naturally fade away, at the minimum you should still polish before applying another coat of sealant or ceramic coating

      Starke Level R with wool pad, Starke Elevate with foam pad. Wash the boat again. Do the polymer or do the steps necessary for ceramic coating.

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I suppose but I wouldn’t use wax. That’s the reason they make ceramic boosters and maintenance sprays. It fills in the gaps of the coating. I would maintain and recoat as needed. If you want you can put a polymer or ceramic wax over your ceramic coating. Wax won’t do much

    If you think a ceramic coating will stop scratches I think you need to get your head examined. If you mean very light scratches then say that. What you said implied ceramic coatings are much more of a miracle coating than they are.

    I never understand why professional detailers claim ceramic coatings won’t work unless you polish and correct the surface first. That is all just BS marketing so they can charge more for their services. As long as the surface is decontaminated you will be fine. I have ceramic coated a bunch without correcting and have benefited from it without the surface being perfect. The chemical doesn’t know what steps you have taken before using it. The key is decontamination.

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We as a company strive for perfection in all our work. I would never seal a gelcoat surface with a wax, sealant, or ceramic if it’s scratched up or oxidized. Decontamination is super important as well.

    • @ThatBeardedVeteran
      @ThatBeardedVeteran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@topdockpro I get that as a business but tell people that. don't lie and say the product will fail. Personally, I feel if more detailers were honest about that, they may get more customers like myself where we value honesty and sometimes are just looking for some convenience. For example, I have a P.O.S. car as my commuter. I like keeping it clean, but don't want to spend thousands for a full correction and ceramic, but want the benefits and protection it offers. why not offer a ceramic coating instead of a wax if IDC if there are some swirls under it? But I get it... you are a business and trying to make as much as you can while you can.

    • @bryanwalton8764
      @bryanwalton8764 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ThatBeardedVeteran Most people want a quality look, that's why they are using a more expensive product. People would be unhappy if they applied an expensive coating that enhanced the swirl marks in their boats finish. The whole idea of a ceramic coating is a highly polished look that lasts longer than other products. Who would want to highlight the swirl marks in their boat or car.

    • @ThatBeardedVeteran
      @ThatBeardedVeteran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bryanwalton8764 if you go to any random parking lot I would bet that 90%+ of the vehicles have swirl marks. Some people just want the ease of wash aspect that a coating can provide. And I get that a business that applies a coating wants to have the best product out there. My issue isn't with that, it's the fact that they are lying when they say a product won't stick unless you correct the surface. If that is the case that product is garbage and shouldn't be used because there are plenty of other products that will work just as well as long as you wash and decontaminate before applying.

    • @bryanwalton8764
      @bryanwalton8764 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ThatBeardedVeteran
      You are correct, you can apply the ceramic products to surfaces that havent been corrected. You won't get the look that ceramic coating manufactures are selling, advertising or that most people are hoping to achieve with the expensive ceramic coating products. You can spray shellac on a turd but it won't look any better.
