  • In this video I use the Percy's Wheelrite tool to measure for new wheels. I also adjust my UMI rear upper control arms to center the rear end. After measurements and rear centering, I install the American Racing VN510s with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I'm running 18x8 fronts with 245/40/18 and 18x10 on rear with 295/30/18.

    Thanks for documenting in the detail you did. You helped me find the right offset for me and i actually used the same wheels as you just in gray.

    I like the blended continuity. With the black lower and chrome trim, the black centers and chrome ring looks right at home.

    That's one BadAss ElCo with a SuperCharged Motor will be a lot of fun to drive! You might also want to mention that your ElCo already has the frame notched.

    Nice work. I’m going with 18’s on my 82 El Camino, but I going 245/40/18’s all the way around. Gonna also lower the stance and upgrade to the Aldan American coil springs.

    So, I have been trying to find something on how to center my rear end on my Malibu, and this video nails it. Mine sits further to the driver's side and my tire will rub. Oh, and the wheels look perfect

    Yea I have that problem now I thought the body was off now I believe the Rearend is off it’s more to the driver side than the passenger side I have to go back and use this as a reference so I won’t screw up adjusting it but this is what I was lookin for

    Great choice of rims, they look great and so does the ride height.
    The rear should be centered to the centerline of the car and a triangulated rear control arm should have both pairs of arms at the same length. What is the point in sweeping the clearance tool with the front suspension at full droop?

    Hey man, love the build and appreciate the detailed video. I’ve actually been looking at this exact staggered set of wheels for my 85’ camino for awhile now just wondering about the fitment with stock suspension (will be re-doing everything asap) and what minimum modifications need to be done considering my situation? Also are these the +0 offset spec? Thanks again

    • @CarsandJoshee
      @CarsandJoshee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep 0 offset. I have the frame notch kit from UMI and custom length axle tubes on a Quick Performance 9” rear end.

    • @CarsandJoshee
      @CarsandJoshee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CutlassVibes yes, I used the UMI frame notch kit. I also have a custom Quick Performance rear end with an extra 2” added to the overall width (flange to flange).

  • @biff314
    @biff314 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @ 5:00 it appears that the rear frame rails have been notched. At 5:25 it looks like the frame steps in at the rear. That would allow a much wider tire/wheel combination over stock. Please confirm my observations as I have the same G body. Thank you

    How much did you lower the front and back of the car? I’ve got the front of my gbody Monte Carlo lowered 3” with 17” wheels in the front but I’m trying to lower the back with 18” wheels. Thanks

    • @CarsandJoshee
      @CarsandJoshee  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. It’s on QA1s and dropped down to the bottom thread. I recently raised it all around about 1.5” to allow clearance for the front fender liner.

    How is you rear wheel to quarter gaps after you centered rear did it cock it any?

    • @CarsandJoshee
      @CarsandJoshee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The upper control arms center the rear left- to-right, so the gaps on both sides are equal. I don’t have adjustable lower control arms, which would be used to adjust front-to-rear in the wheel well, so that’s stock location on my setup.
