In March of 2014, on a Sunday morning, I was in my bedroom getting dressed in my black suit and pink shirt. I was getting ready to head to the church to say my last goodbye to my mother before laying her, finally, to rest. I wore pink because she fought valiantly against Breast cancer. They fought twice, but at last, in the second battle, she was too tired to carry on the fight. She had walked down her very last road. God, I sometimes think I've gotten over the pain, but it doesn't go away. As I got dressed, it was Stevie on my radio singing "Blowin' in the Wind." That memory is permanently cemented in my mind. Every time I listen to it now, I think of that morning and I can still feel a remnant of the emotions I felt then. That knot in your throat and that pressure building up behind your eyes. My mama was such a sweet woman. Such a sweet soul. She was only 62 years young. I love you forever, Mom! I have questions, and the answers are still blowin' in the wind. See you when I finally walk down my very last road.
My heart aches for you! I know that pain well! She was the same age as my beautiful sister when she went to be with the Lord! My parents went tragically twenty-four years and I still miss them. The pain becomes numb but it doesn’t ever go away! Continue living life in a manner that would make her proud.
Long after Dylan had become too hardened to sing this song with the sincerity of his youth, the great Stevie Wonder gave it new life with his effervescent soulfulness. This is just fantastic.
so many cover songs just replicate the original artist's performance and add little to the original concept. This is exactly what a cover should be, when the artist takes the original idea and completely reinvents it by breathing a new life into the idea. God bless Stevie Wonder. He really is a national treasure.
Listen to Stevie ... His comments before the song are as relevant to today as they were at the time of this performance, if not more so. Thank you, Stevie. We still need you.
"As you think about who you should vote for, I want you to vote for that person who is going to commit to bringing unity to all people. Not only throughout the world but in this country" - Stevie Wonder This song is older than I am and still rings true. Thank you Bobby Dylan!
we will never unite until Govt. stops trying to rule us , instead of serve us. We will never submit. we will never unite until minorities stop blaming people who weren't even alive for slavery and stop waiting for Govt. to steal from us to give to people who refuse to do anything to help them selves.
Dylan done by Stevie = pure magic. The fact that no comments here alluded to Stevie's impairment is testimony to his sheer musical genius. He certainly remains under appreciated by today's "musical" acts
This is what you get when indviduals who know what they are doing come together to make music. I especially like how the keyboard player on the organ kept looking at and listening to Stevie to ensure they are perfectly in sync. Also the guiitarists were excellent and also all the other musicians were excellent too.
I think my favorite part of this video isn't the song. It's at the very beginning when Booker T. holds Stevie Wonder's hand and helps him to sit. Those four hands gave this world some of the greatest music it's ever known, or ever will know.......
The most amazing thing about Stevie Wonder is.... Stevie Wonder. I've never heard this song sung so emotionally. It's beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Same musical treasure who just spoke and performed a fire version of Higher Ground at the 2024 DNC. This is the kind of energy America needs, baby ❤ he performed Higher Ground because it’s the right *universal song* for progress and joy at the moment. Try listening to this and not being moved. I cannot.
Super belle musique, classée 14ème des meilleurs chansons de tous les temps ! Quel talent, merci Bob, je me suis permis de la reprendre à la guitare acoustique, pas si difficile pour ceux qui veulent l'apprendre ;) bravo encore à Bob
On this day in 1966 {July 17th} "Blowin' In The Wind" by Stevie Wonder entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #68; and on August 28th, 1966 it peaked at #9 {for 1 week} and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100... And on August 21st, 1966 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart {it was his 2nd R&B #1 record of 1966, "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" remained at #1 for 5 weeks}.... On the Top 100, his next release, "A Place In The Sun", would also peak at #9 and stay on the chart for 11 weeks... Mr. Wonder, born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, celebrated his 64th birthday two months ago on May 13th, 2014...
Que maravilha ! Sei que há muita tristeza e sofrimento pelo planeta, mas sei também que há gente maravilhosa tentando amenizar isso. Obrigada, Deus, por me colocar no mesmo planeta que gente como Stevie Wonder....
This was the best of Blowing in the wind and truly good hearted feeling that has helped keep the song alive. Hopefully the dream not over in this Nation. It's going to be a cold Planet without words of touching hearts Preacher Man. If God didn't mean for Man or women to play he wouldn't have given them Bagpipes. Peace on Earth Not Piss...Thank You Bob Dylan and thank you Steve Wonder.
Just priceless !! And so the tune become relevant every single minute of the imperfect humans... just like a bitter merry-go-round. Thanx 4 posting it. I had it in an old tape and I have always thought that it is one of most outstanding performances of popular music in modern times. Great Stevie. God bless YOU
His name is Keith John, Stevie's lead backing vocalist. Check "Fever" sung by both Stevie and Keith, which previously was actually sung by Keith's father, Little Willie John.
... the answer my friend ... is blowing in the wind ... God Bless you in His hands ... you loved much this song ... i remember always ... forever ... for you love !
Its 2024 and this song is still necessary!! Whether its Stevie, Bob or Peter, Paul and Mary!!
True that

This is truly a song for all times, especially right now.

Brought tears. One of the greatest covers of all time. Stevie still owns it Just missed Clarence Paul singing “tell me Stevie......”
I’m balling 😢 this song is ageless

Stevie's music improves human lives
It does, in my dark days the lovely Steve lifts me up. He has a good attitude I better have one.
Questa è la migliore interpretazione di questo grande successo internazionale. Stevie Wonder un genio. Eccezionale.
I was lucky enough to be there...great night I'll never forget, thanks Stevie and Bob, Cheers!

it became even more relevant now as we lost one of our heroes, nelson mandela..
R.I.P., sir
He died twice
man, the back up singer killed it, same as the '66 version
YES, HE DID!!!❤
This is when years of ancestral and collective pain gets turned in to something more beautiful than I can describe ❤️🙌🎶
That comment is as serendipitous as the song. Well done.
La migliore interpretazione in assoluto di questo grandissimo successo a livello internazionale. STEVIE WONDER un vero genio. Eccezionale.
The harmonica solo brought me to tears
A monster. The way he sang this song emphasized the meaning. Super.
Lord God look down on each and everyone of your children and help us to know what's right
Peace for all of us .❤
