    Used your video - followed it step by step and everything went like clockwork. I looked put of the window at around 9.30am this morning and noticed the charging lights on the e;
    :ny1 were blue signifying that it was charging. I contacted Octopus just to ensure it really was charging at 7.5p and they confirmed it was. Thanks for this must-have tutorial - greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks for this video. I will shortly be migrating to an Ohme Home Pro, having had 2 Octopus supplied Wallbox Pulsar Plus chargers fail in the space of a few months. Whilst I have had to keep a bit of pressure on various departments within Octopus, and they have required me to contact Wallbox to verify my chargers were indeed faulty, I consider Octopus have sorted my problems out very honourably. The upshot is Octopus are sending me a Home Pro at a very reasonable cost because of the issues I have had with the Wallbox chargers. Hopefully Home Pros last a lot longer than Pulsar Pluses!
    I knew the Ohme app approaches charging quite differently to other EV charging apps. Without this guide I am pretty sure it would have taken me ages to set up the Home Pro so it properly connects to IO. Hopefully, guided by your clear and comprehensive instructions, I won't stumble too many times!

    Thanks so much for the video. I will use the EDF GoElectric tariff for a few days. Currently, I only pay peak time for day and night charging. All these oHME settings are told in the video via I.Octopus and the oHME app also be valid in EDF GoElectric? So, if I make the same settings via oHME, will oHME be able to understand when my smart meter switches to peak and off-peak? Or do I need to activate the "do not charge above x.xx.p/kwh" option on the app? In this way, should I have said only do charge or not at these times? Thanks.

    Brilliant video, wish Ohme went in to as much detail on a video. I messaged them about some issues I was having several days ago and didnt even get an acknowledgement. One question I have outstanding is, my car (EQC) is not API based and so when the battery is full, the car itself stops the charge. The Ohme app though, still continues to run like its adding more charge to the car (even if the cable has been removed). I can't do anything with the charge in the app from this point on, like pause or stop the charge. Is this normal? Thanks

    Is this the same for the Ohme epod? I think I need to reset everything and start again. Can’t bump charge on the Octopus app, I think Ohme app is taking charge. But also can’t get on Intelligent Go on Ohme app, I’ve had to enter a manual schedule. So seems like it’s all set up wrong. How do I reset the Ohme app to start again? I've mentioned this to Ohme and they know it's an issue so should appear in a future version of the app. Alternatively, you have to try and figure it out from the graph, which is pretty difficult.

    Hi there - an update to my last comment - set up and account activated. I can see that Ohme app is integrated with Octopus as my charge start is delayed (which to my mind means that it's avoiding peak charge time). At present, the car is plugged in, but totally switched off. The charger is locked in position. Can I assume that the car will start charging without any further input from me? Do I need to set the car settings or the MG App in any way?

    QUESTION:
    Thanks for this video I was actually trying to make everything up by. Guesswork before this.
    when mine was charging for the first time yesterday, the Ohme pro unit only said charged speed was 3.7kw?
    Will that be the case for the Intelligent Go tariff? Where the rate causes the charge to drip. As I have followed the setting in your video too.

    • @MrBinabanana
      @MrBinabanana หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Octopus control not only the times that your Ohme EVSE charges your car, but also the rate at which it charges too in order to help balance the grid. You may see the charge rate dip as low as 10A or even 6A periodically, but it will always aim to meet the required charge target at the set time.
      However, there are other anomalies which can cause the device to charge at 3.7kW (16A) such as an incorrectly installed (or missing) CT clamp as part of the physical installation.

  • @99Tonygm

    Hi Joshua, great video.
    Just ordered the Ohme Pro. I have one question please.
    On Intelligent Octopus, if my battery is empty and i would like 100%, which will take 10 hours to charge, what would be the setting to only charge during cheap rate over 2 nights. As I will not necessarily require 100% by the first morning.
    Would the example you setup do this, or would it automatically add peak rate charging to ensure the battery was 100% by the next day?
    Many thanks for your help.

    • @joshuab9858
      @joshuab9858  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your SOC was at 0% - You tell Ohme when you would want 100% by, EG 9am, you plug in at 10pm(day before) if the grid is green, It'll start charging right away or in a little bit. Your car can charge any time and it will be at off-peak, ATM, it seems ppl are getting slots stright away but can change, but the basis is. Set Target SOC/Time, Plug in as soon as you can, and it'll try and hit or SOC if it can't it'll tell you or pre-map to the clostest possible

    Very helpful video. I’ve just bought my first EV Q4 etron 45. Having some issues as there's so much conflicting information. From what I can gather, everything is done through Ohme and not Audi or octopus but the Audi MMI system tells me set up a home location for charging and set a charging timer. First charge last night set for between 11.30 and 5.30 (as per the lower rate) but I commenced the charge at 1am when I got home. Noticed that my smart meter was in overdrive at 9am this morning - showing £7 (normally £1.30sh for electricity overnight) Is it the case that the smart meter hasn’t been updated or “believes” I’m being charged at the higher rate. The Ohme app confirms my charge was at 7.5p and charged £1.67. Slightly concerned about the smart meter and the Audi MMI issue. Any suggestions / advice would be appreciated

      I have noticed this as well. Ohme app says charge is at 7.5 but when I check my smart meter in-home display shows a high charge rate; it doesn't matter if charge my EV at night (11:30pm - 05:30am) or during the day. Why is the approval needed? Is that just so you can see the charging slots in the app (and not have to check the notification)?
    Is it off peak after the charging graph has reached the top? As the charging slot was very long in your example.

      Hi, do you mean your IHD? - In-home display? - This will always show at a high cost, as the IHDs don't work with the smart tariffs. On your bill, it will be at off-peak.

    Thanks for this. Wonder if you/anyone can answer quick question..if my KONA (no api) is at 90% so only needing 10% more, but I put in to add 60% & plug in at maybe 6pm, would the smart charging with octopus maybe start at 6ish, plan a schedule to finish at 05:30, and give me lots of extra cheap hours that evening? Or would it know when it’s got to 100%, for arguments sake by 7pm, then cancel the charge for the rest of that night coz battery is already full? Not easy for me to explain, but I know what I mean!!😂

    • @joshuab9858
      @joshuab9858  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, If you car is alreday at 90%, then you would only need a target of +10%. If you do more then your car can accept, it will fault out and may charge at peak rate.
      The longer you allow your car to be plugged in, more green it is
      You only get the 7.5p cheap charging if car is charging, energy flowing into it, You you try and tick the system, it will know.

  • @Cubacharlie14
    @Cubacharlie14 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Now that I have my charger and vehicle, I see that this doesn't work as octopus will charge the use of the charger at on peak rate if use out of off peak hours. I can see in my IHD (In Home Display) how Octopus charges the use of Ohme Home Pro Charger which is at 29p (on peak rate). So, I don't see the point of this video.

      The more manual option I do is pause the battery before I plug in my Ohme type 2 (as it starts drawing charge right away) see what schedule I get, if I get an instant on peak slot put the battery into charge mode and set an alarm on my phone to remind me to switch it back to normal scheduled charge at the end of the schedule. For example on Saturday I charged from 62-80% between 3:15pm-4:45pm and also managed to add just over 3kWh to the house battery (while also doing some oven cooking and a wash while the car was in charge). Looking to do the HA route as Josh mentions above, but until then you can manage it yourself for a few clicks of an app (in my case GivEnergy) to mimic automation and maximise your IO on peak gains.
      I’ve been driving EVs for 5 years and have been on Go / Go faster and now IO and i’d previously got into the habit of plunging in at 20-30% and then charging up to 80%. In the last few weeks every time I’ve plugged in I’m getting instant slots so I’m changing my behaviour to do more PHEV like daily / every other day charges of 15-20% and plug in around the time I would have other house loads on to maximise the home battery utilisation in a given day

    • @rogermarchant9793
      @rogermarchant9793 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shikoku14 Thanks for explaining that very clearly. I always assumed that charging was done for full 30minute slots but does your reply mean that charging is actually done minute by minute so IO detects when the car starts charging and when it stops charging (or reaches 100%) precisely to the minute. So outside that period during the 30 minute slots, it would be charged at the standard rate for the time of day. I too have home batteries and was wondering how to get a cheap boost later in the day during the cold winter period when they will probably fully discharge by early evening. If I change the default charging rate of the Ohme from 32A down to 16A, presumably this would double the time available for the home battery charge (assuming a smart charge schedule slot becomes available)?

    • @shikoku14
      @shikoku14 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rogermarchant9793 I think you are still correct on the 30 minute slots, my take is the Ohme gives you the exact time slot for charging, but you will get +/- either side of that to fit the nearest 30 min slots. Which will explain why it still charges beyond the slot sometimes for 10-15 minutes. What also happens is that the charger for me doesn't always hold 30A (the max of the type2-2) it seems within the window this can drop down to 10A or 16A to fit the window, so it doesn't do full charge at 7kWh for the whole time, if not needed. I'm not sure how it would treat one derated at 16A only.

    You get a dynamic schedule anyway. You don't necessarily need a remade schedule if .Api is connected once plugged in change the target to what time and percentage you want. Its the Scedule that confuses people and it really shouldn't. Providing you are all logged in with the api's with no schedules set just plug in and select change target to suit you then you'll get your dynamic charge. I've tested it over 3 months and always had off peak charging.
    I think its pronounced Ohme isn't it?
