Hallo Jenny.
Amazing homes on Cortes. We've spent lots of time on Quadra, but never got to Cortes. Love how you all appreciate our beautiful wilderness and yes, when I leave Rivers, I'm quite overwhelmed with the people, traffic and general hubbub. 😊
Hi Jenny, Thank you for sharing another part of you life. An awesome adventure with incredible aspects. Can't wait for more. Stay safe and happy 😊. 🇨🇦 Craig
Thank you, Craig! I’m so excited to share the next video with you! I wish I could edit faster because I’m feeling a little behind but more to come soon!!
Thank you! Your videos make us feel like we are there with you enjoying beautiful places. Love the beautiful homes and amazing art, so many talented and interesting people. Two islands added to the bucket list of places we must try to visit!
Hi Norm, that’s really nice of you to say!! I appreciate your support so much and I’m so happy to share these places with you! I hope you make it to those islands!! Hi to Betty!
The very essence of west coast Canadians on display here, folks living their dreams, on their own time. I believe Paul's parents place is in a book on west coast homes, from the early 80's , which features homes on Cortes, Quadra, Denman and Horny, all hand made and incredibly beautiful. Absolutely wonderful video ! I was last on Cortes in the early 80's ,,,
My jaw dropped when you went inside that house. Wow. It looked alive and moving around. Thank you for showing me that. Probably top 3 clip right there for sure. What a treat.
Jenny, special people like you don’t come along very often in life and each of us subscribers are VERY fortunate to be able to come with you. Thank you so much for including us. What a different world than back on the prairie. I like to visit the islands but I still love home more.
Thank you for another great video Jenny Your subject matter, story line and even your voice are just right. We are drawn into your realistic story about ordinary people enjoying one another. Simple and rather refreshing for our times. You never disappoint. Thank you 🙏
Lovely. Lived on cortes 25 yrs ago the freestore looks fantastic. It was where we got everything. I was hoping to see some familiar faces, but familiar places are delightful. Thanks for the tour.
Hi Jennie, love your videos. I think you should do a sleep meditation recording, your voice is so warm and soothing. Nice to see Paul and Chelsey and get a better idea how they live. Thank you ❤
That's peace and quiet out there and it's so beautiful you get to hear the trees crack the bears move around and every squirrel making nuts cracking nuts
Jenny your channel has been a source of inspiration and many ASMR moments. Your creation is absolutely splendid and I look forward to you doing what you do here for many years to come. Cheers!
Ive given up on finding paradise for myself but you and yours have found it for yourselves. thank you, you couldnt have found more deserving. Love you all!!!!
Hi Girls it’s alway great to see you folks I worked for Oakbay group for 20 plus years some of it on Quadra island great place I will miss your lodge videos till next year
Wow Jenny what an amazing video showing and sharing with us your experiences around the places and people you visited on the Islands off Vancouver, that dream house was totally amazing and the people were all so open and welcoming. When you were walking through the forest I couldn't help but be drawn to the beauty and the history of the place with the tall trees and the moss growing on them, it reminds me of the isolated parts of the West Coast of the South Island that I traveled to some years ago and I agree with others comments that your videos are getting better all the time. And now did I hear correctly that you had a worker from NZ 🇳🇿 with you this past season?? So take care and I will be following you on the rest of your journeys ❤👍👍🇳🇿
This was such an awesome video ! Enjoyed seeing everything as much was familiar to me years ago , it was just great ! Loved the plentiful mushrooms and it looked like you were fed like royalty there ❤
Thank you Jenny for such a wonderful video. Our little coastal islands offer such a remarkable look at life so different from the busy cities and towns on the mainland. René and I have great memories of Heriot Bay Inn and pub thanks to our buddy, Terry.
I have spent lots of time in old cannery/cold storage type places all over the north pacific. I love hearing about one such place that is thriving. Very Nostalgic for me.
Met Paul and his folks last summer while I rebuilt Anne's deck as well as Ron's neighbour Brooke. Don't you love Anne's house????!! Such great folks on Cortes. I had the privilege of staying in the little cabin between the oyster beds and the grapevine. Thank you for your channel Jenny. Been following you since I discovered the channel last spring. Great content. Be well and perhaps I'll get to rivers inlet soon.
Lived in Campbell River for 30 years. Been to Quadra a few times. Never made it to Cortes. Used to pick the wild mushrooms for extra money. Know the back country around CR very well.
Thank you for that very special video!!! I have been in and around the gulf islands and I just loved it! Always surprises me, a native Albertan how just a very few hours away there is such a different World. I have always felt very fortunate to be from here and your video just makes me so happy. Again thank you for sharing, you are a very special vlogger and I am always so glad to see one of your videos go up. Have a great week and hope to see another video very soon, lol!!!!
You went to one of my favourite places. That pub at Heriot Bay used get get great entertainment come through. A lot of young folks taking days off from fish farms or other lodges often find their way to that pub. The ferry ride to Cortes often will have a large whale breaching near the boat. Great anchorage off of Rebecca Spit on Quadra. Find a friend with a boat Jenny.
Hello , was surfing around TH-cam Saw “Cortez island” Wondered if it was “my” Cortez island. It is ! In 1981 I built a house with my uncle. Next to the camp ground near whale town Can see boathouse when you enter through the pass into the harbor. We were there from April to September , till house was dried in. Meaning roof and windows….
My how the times have changed. I’ve lived on Haida Gwaii as kid and 46 places in between Vancouver, Victoria and up and down the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. I miss Haida Gwaii, the Gulf Islands, especially Gabriola. Traffic is night and day in the city, even from twenty years ago. If you ever get the chance to sail to Alaska stop by Brahman Island. I think you’ll like it compared to Cortes. Safe travels! 🙏💫
That outdoor feast looked amazing. What did you bake in the apples? Looked like cheese and almonds? Thanks for sharing Jenny! You were in my town, would have been great to run into you. I also saw a friend in the video at the ferry dock in Herriot Bay, too funny.
Hey Jenny. I think Paul may have meant the smaller trees adjacent to the big Old Growth in your video. Those big boys and girls are for sure bumping 300 years old (I’m an old Arborist lol). Have a great off season!
Sorry to be pedantic, but for those who might be airplane spotters & therefore get upset (I am not), the first flight was on a Beaver not a Goose. As usual, love your vids & have a blessed off season
Thank you so much for pointing that out. I knew someone would notice! Haha I didn’t notice until after it was uploaded to TH-cam. My apologies! Thank you for your comment! Take care!
When you and your other half be visiting New Zealand Jenny. You already have a guide.?? We call Abalone, " Paua " and Oysters will always be Oysters. A brilliant video Jen, much to see and experience. The one thing about talented crafts people is that I personally hope that they have someone to pass their skills onto.
I knew someone would notice haha!!! I accidentally added that bit and then after I uploaded I realized that we were not flying on a goose that time haha At least I showed on at the airport. 😅

Great memories of Quadra and Cortes. Were you aware that the Heriot Bay Inn is haunted? Check out the story if you get a chance.
So you have been working at a fishing lodge for 4 months and the first thing you do when you get leave is to go - eat some raw fish at a restaurant ?
Haha Yes! Absolutely excited to eat raw fish that someone else prepared
@@HomelessWhiteMaleStartingOvera There's nothing more delicious than well-prepared raw fish.
You can tell you're on a west coast island by the guys wearing Stanfields
Mushrooms?....hmm 😉
