  • Welcome to Good Hope Cannery in Rivers Inlet, BC.
    In this episode of Lodge Life we are moving back into the kitchen, finally the floors are finished! It's been a challenge working out of the guest dining room with the oven and dish washing area in the laundry room. We also got a fancy new oven installed.
    We celebrated Christian and Jeffs birthdays with a birthday dip and special dinner and dessert.
    Join me and the lodge crew as we prepare for our first few guests.
    Thanks so much for watching and following along on our adventures!
    Take care until next time,
    Jenny Adrift

    Thanks for another tour, Jen. Brings back (mostly) good memories. I freed up a couple of the old belt driven tools there when I was doing maintenance from '99 to '02 but that whole end has been taken to a new level since then! I was also on the crew putting the steel roof on, the rain was so much quieter before then lol

      Wow! I’ve tried to imagine what it would have been like for the roofers on that slant. I love hearing the rain on that roof! It’s a beautiful sound. Thanks for sharing your experience up here!!

    My wife and I are full time RVers since 2017 and we work camped in Western WA for 6 years of that. We visited the old Bumblebee cannery in Astoria, OR, which is now a museum. It amazes me the old school low technology production they were able to accomplish.

      @@jenny_adriftNo unfortunately I haven't. I live in the Cowichan Valley and have boated as far north as the Campbell River area. It just increases in beauty as you go north. I have flown over the area years ago when I was an Air Cadet and was lucky enough to do a lot of weekend flying. Flew in that area in an Aurora sub hunter aircraft out of Comox at low altitude on a demo flight once. The beauty of the area far outweighed the excitement of being on that high tech plane. I trained as a cook back in the 80's and have done my share of kitchen work lol. You have earned yourself a dream job. Well done.

      The thanks go to you Jenny. All the effort you put into your job and equally to your videos. It reveals your remarkable character and the remarkable character of the unique individuals you work with. I have never been to British Columbia. I was stationed at Whidbey Island WA. In the late 70’s and it was truly a magical place and time for me. I also was fortunate enough to visit Alaska in 2009. British Columbia was always a place I wanted to see and experience. At this point in my life though it seems I will only be able to do it through your wonderful documentary’s. So again I thank you and your incredible community for all you do. And I look forward to all of your videos to come.

      @jenny_adrift  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the sub! This old cannery is so cool to work in. There’s parts of it(like the kitchen) that have been totally updated and there are parts that look just like it did when it ran as a cannery.
      The dog walks are a great way for staff to get out and enjoy nature, it does take a lot of energy physically but mentally it’s very helpful sometimes.
      I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos!

    OMG You keep the kitchen so clean! I know how much work that is. I Worked in kicken when I was in school and can really appreciate the job you are doing.. The lodge is so well maintained and updated, it is amazing! I hope your viewers really understand just how remote you are. And how difficult and expensive things are to acquire.
    How many guests and crew will you feed a day in HI Season?
    Sometime I would love to see the generators and shed in a video. A lot of people may not realize that there's no electricity there. You have to make your own.

    • @jenny_adrift
      @jenny_adrift  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s so true! Great point about showing the generator shed. It is very remote.
      And thank you for such a kind comment. I do work he’s at keeping the kitchen clean and organized. My sous chef is even more organized so we do a good job. Jeff who does the dishes (as well as many other things) also does a great job at the end of the night with the floors and hood vents and of course, the dish pit.
      Definitely a team effort. Thank you for noticing and commenting.
      I’ve got a few videos in the works but I will be filming the Gen shed and water intake system soon and showing how everything works.
      Thank you, Charlie!! Do you not work in kitchens anymore?
