    One thing I’ve noticed as a professional driver; most people need to look much farther ahead than they do. It’s safer, and also a way to coax better MPGs out of your rig because you’re able to coast a little more. Staying off the pedals, when safer is a great way to maximize mileage.

    • @LXPlore
      @LXPlore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! A high visual horizon will not only help with coasting but also an all around safer way to drive. Coasting will yield better MPG’s and save your brakes. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

    Any thought on turbo for increasing mpg? Or is the cost vs reward not worth it?

    • @LXPlore
      @LXPlore  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching the video. I’d say that a turbo will bring more smiles per gallon, not sure about miles. More horsepower and a lighter right foot might yield higher MPGs. Not sure what a turbo cost or what the labor would be.

    Do you have the lift kit? If so why the front is way lower than the rear?

    • @LXPlore
      @LXPlore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching the video. My land cruiser has a lift kit. The front is lower than the rear because it provides the optimum ride quality with a little bit of rake. I also have air bags in the rear. I haven’t let the air out from my last trip. These 100’s don’t ride very nice when they’re level or nose high.

    • @payamkarimi5423

      I installed IRON MAN on my rig and made it level with the back, and every time I go over speedbumps feels like there is no travel in front shocks. So from floor to Fender reads 40”. Now I’m going to drop the front to 37. Thank you so much for the fast reply 👍👍

    The accelerator converters fuel into forward momentum, so even if you accelerate aggressively you're not really burning more fuel unless you're doing a burnout or something. Burning fuel slowly to accelerate slowly for a longer duration ends up about the same as burning fuel quickly to accelerate quickly for a short duration. The real difference is in actual top speed; you burn a lot more fuel maintaining 80 MPG speed compared to 60 MPH due to wind resistance.
    The biggest fuel saving trick, especially with a big heavy vehicle, is to AVOID tailgating other drivers whenever possible unless on a highway. It's counterintuitive. But if you're 10 yards behind when the car in front turns or slows down you have to immediately hit the brake, which converts your momentum that you burned a bunch of fuel to attain into wasted brake heat, and then you'll burn more fuel getting back up to same speed again.
    But if you're 50 yards behind and the car in front turns or slows down you just lift off the accelerator and start closing the gap. If you're far enough you don't have to slow at all, and therefore you don't have to convert momentum into brake heat and you don't have to burn more fuel accelerating again. You also end up reaching the destination faster, and it's safer.
    Driving this way will save more fuel than anything else. With a big heavy vehicle with a big engine, wind resistance, aerodynamics, and added weight all play a really tiny role in fuel economy unless you start going very fast and exceed the normal RPM range for extended periods of time.
    Exception of course is highway driving, where there's no turns and vehicles stay the same high speed for a long time. In this case, tailgating a semi truck can save gas due to slip stream effect, but can be dangerous.

      Nah man, aggressive acceleration in these LX / LC I get 8-9mpg average. Light touch I get 12-15mpg. Trail driving I get 5-6mpg so there goes your idea about low speed being a factor for saving gas.

      @@brkbtjunkie "Trail driving?" Like what, 4x4ing on dirt tracks? Do you think speed is really the factor here or is it that you're burning a lot of gas to crawl up hills in 4x4 with poor traction, idling more often which is 0mpg, and then using your brake to get down the other side which means no momentum?
