    Hi I hope you can find time to answer my questions. I have laid a porcelain patio. My grouting leaves a lot to be desired. It's a bit patchy and uneven coloured due to my son's random mixing. Can I mix a slurry with neet cement , or use a product like easy joint to go over the top. Also can I coat the slabs with SBR to bring out the colour and shine I love that stuff ! Many thanks Pete

    Great video as usual, thanks for posting! Attempting my patio at the moment and its going well. For the final step I will be using easyjoint. It recommends using it within 4 hours of laying, however, that wont be possible as it will take me a few days to lay all the porcelain tiles. I can see you are doing it at the end just like I will, are there any issues with using it later? Also, is it okay the patio getting wet when not grouted as water can get underneath and freeze in winter? Just want to make sure I am doing the right thing :)

    Hi Johnyboy, A pure dead brilliant video for DIYers like me 👍.
    In your video 17th December 2019 (Pointing a Porcelain Patio with Easy Grout) you used a 7mm joint as you just wanted the grout to get down into the joint and you were concerned that if you were to use a 5mm joint the grout wouldn’t.
    This time round you used a 4mm joint.
    After more experience and knowledge gained using Azpects Easy Grout, what size would you now recommend when using it?

    • @GreentopLandscapes
      @GreentopLandscapes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Davie, thanks for your feed back, its really appreciated mate/ I am using a 4mm joint now wth Porcelain as its much sleeker and neater and proportionate, and the grout still gets down in the joint and if I needed to cut the joint out for any reason I would be able to. What are your view on the quality of Easygrout vs products applied with a trowel like Ultracolour plus on a patio with 7mm joints? Also, what are your views on using a device like a funnel or oven baster to direct the product into the joints to try and avoid the product spreading over the whole patio to make the clean up easier with less risk of product drying on the tiles. Have you any experience of product drying on the tiles and how easy is it to remove? Thanks in advance for any help.

      EasyJoint does say its suitable for Porcelian on the Azpects website 🤔 it does advise a 6:1 bed allowing it to be permeable.! EasyJoint doesn't like sitting in water.! I would imagine that if your using the correct bed mix & your laying your patio with a gradual fall away, to allow the water to run off the surface and not sit or pool on top i.e. the correct way, then you shouldn't have any issues with EasyJoint at all..!! 100 times easier and faster than using this messy slurry.!

    • @matthewdaniels2450
      @matthewdaniels2450 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Easy joint is air cured grout. Easy grout is slurry mortar. Any air cured grout is not good, ants and weeds love it after a year or so. Also air cured grouts allow water through the joint so it goes black very quickly. Any form of slurry mortar is far superior to these air cured grouts.

      No Azpects Easy Joint is the brush in one that is much more easier to work with and just as effective. Easy Joint takes a quarter of the time and is much easier and cleaner to work with. We used Easy Joint on 40 square metres of Porcelain so thats how i know.

    • @jasbindersingh1936
      @jasbindersingh1936 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@matthewdaniels2450 Easy Joint is just as effective, and Greentops has recommended it in the past. We used a heavy duty weed membrane, then a sub base 100mm wackered Mot type 1, then laid the slaps using a dry mix with slurry primer under the slaps. There is no chance weeds would come through that. Then we used Easy Joint to finish off. If the membrane + sub base + method laying arent altogether done properly thats when you get weeds. The jointing compounds / grouts sole purpose isnt to stop weeds.

      @@MARTINWHITELAW Azpects has been used the world over and is very popular because it works. The Azpects site states:
      Can EASYJoint be used with Porcelain tiles?
      Yes you can use our jointing compound with porcelain tiles, in fact some specialist suppliers only recommend EASYJoint for jointing them! You must follow the instructions carefully when using porcelain tiles and depending on whether they are for indoor or outdoor use, be careful what bedding mix they are laid on. Porcelain is impermeable (it will not allow water to pass through it) so follow our instructions for use with porcelain tiles. If using the wet method ensure that the bedding mix is permeable and made up from a mix no stronger of 6 parts sharp sand to one cement. To ensure a strong joint that will last for years the depth of the joint should be at least 20mm deep, ideally 25mm. The width of the joint can be as little as 3mm wide.
