    Thank you so much🙏🙏, fixed my window after i randomly stopped working, though mine didnt have any loose wires but i wouldnt have even known where to start if not for this video. Mine had a bunch of dielectric grease in it so i cleaned it really good with MAF cleaner and then blew it out with compressed air and let it sit in the sun for a few mins, put everything back together and it works! Fingers crossed🤞it stays working for a while at least.😆🙏

    I had the same problem on my 2018 convertable but on the driver side. I found that one of the 2 larger wires in the connector was not making good contact with the male connector on the motor. It would stop working and I would just tap on the connector and it would work for a moment. I tried cleaning out with contact cleaner and dielectric grease but that wasnt a permanent fix. I will reach out to my Ford dealer to see if they have a replacement pigtail for this. In the mean time I took a small piece of copper wire and placed into the female side and slid the connector back on the motor to force a better connection between the two connectors and so far this seems to have worked. I can only hope Ford makes a pigtail for this.
    Update Ford does make a pigtail for this connector and it is a bit pricey at 95.00 but I figured I better make it right instead of jury rigging it.

    My 2017 V6 Coupe's window started acting up after I swapped out the factory speaker (had a crackling voice coil). I tried doing the reset with the switch and didn't really do anything. So I unplugged the fuse for the motor and waited a couple minutes before putting it back in. Kinda helped. I'm just avoiding going to the dealership and biting whatever dumb 'repair' fee they'll hit me with. I'll try checkout the motor harness if nothing else works.

    This is ridiculous Ford does not offer a recall on this. Spoke to a tech at the dealership who said this is a very common issue on S550 Mustangs but most likely won't be recalled by Ford as most people out of warranty look for third party to do the fix as dealerships charge $500+ to replace the motor (most likely a wrong fix). I personally don't think the motor is the issue in this case, but most likely either lose contacts as in this case or water damage/oxidation of contacts.

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ford should recall and take care of this. It’s an issue from the factory therefore the factory should fix it. You’re spending $30K+ on a brand new car. The windows should at least work as they were designed. My 2001 has windows that don’t have this auto up and down type and they work just fine. The more shit you add to a car, the more shit can go wrong.

    • @ijustwannabeadrummer
      @ijustwannabeadrummer ปีที่แล้ว

      Had my window motor replaced under warranty, still having problems with auto up now I’m out of warranty I wonder if the dealership will fix? Ridiculous I agree this should be a factory recall!

    • @na6alnikeneme
      @na6alnikeneme ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Wendell Washington the issue is exactly what I thought it would be! There is water buildup in the motor connector because the placement of it is so poorly designed. It will accumulate water and start shorting the contacts. What I did was get to the contacts, blow dry it with compressed air and then use electronics contacts cleaner spray, added dielectric grease to the connector so it would seal the whole thing. Never had a single false trigger since then. Make sure not to bend the pins as those are on the motor side and it would be extremely difficult to fix them back. The dealership will most likely quote you 500$ for the job and replace the motor again. Try finding a reputable car electrician if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

      I'm definitely going to try this. My passenger side window acts like it's posessed, bouncing open, then closed when a passenger gets in. Then I have to fight to get it to roll up.

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would take off the door panel and sit in the seat while wiggling the harness and connector to see if it will fully close. That way you can try to see if it’s a harness issue or bad connection. If it passes the wiggle test, then your problem might be something else.

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just my hand. I think the best way to go about fixing this loose wire is to re-pin that particular wire and connector pin in the harness. Could bend the metal tab or tang back a bit to keep the whole pin secure and steady like the rest of them.

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thinking about this now, if this was my car… I’d tap into the 2 wires on each side of their respective connectors, add the same gauge wire and put my own male and female connectors on each end and just plug them in. Problem solved and is still detachable for service. The taps are removable if you ever have to service anything. Tape the new wires to the current harness and connectors and your done. It might not look the best, but it’d work. My window actually working correctly would make me content. Once the door panel is back on, all good! 👍

    Hey how are you bro my window is stuck closed can’t even open door driver side 2017 gt any thoughts on what it could be

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your window is not going up or down, verify the window motor is getting power when the switch is used. If it is getting power but not moving, the window motor is either bad or stuck. I’ve freed a few motors by tapping on the motor while pressing the window switch up or down. As for why your door won’t open, I don’t know. Handle cable could be broken, linkage rod could have fallen out or a plastic retainer could be broken, maybe the door lock actuator is closed. Won’t know for sure until you open it up. Try to use your key to open the lock manually and see if the door opens.

      I’d have to ask the owner. The window would go up and down on its own from the day she bought the car. Changed the window motor and regulator with an OEM unit and it went away for a little while, but came back. I was taking the car apart to repaint it and happened to come across the connector. When I touched it, the window moved.

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve heard of a few different fixes for this issue. Door lock/latch mechanism was my first guess. Fix ended up being the harness. That’s ok, it’s a free fix lol

      @MichaelSmith-je2eo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you fix this? If the latch isn't reading?

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MichaelSmith-je2eo I can’t say for certain, but in my case it was one of the wires in the door wiring harness. I’d recommend re-pinning that particular wire and electrical pin. The metal tang could be seated improperly resulting in a loose pin not making constant contact between the male and female connectors.

      @SVT232V6  ปีที่แล้ว

      Assuming your window issue is the same as this one, I’d suggest showing them this video and asking if they could look into it. Wouldn’t hurt to try. The dealer technicians may have access to the wiring harness de-pinning tool. I maintain that if the window connector pin not being seated properly is the problem, re-pinning the metal tang so it seats better in the connector is the best fix for this generation Mustang.
