You are a legend my friend. You just saved me a bunch of money I just got a 2017 Ecoboost and was about to pay a lot of money to get it fixed, I’m so glad I found this video. Very well explained and easy.
As others have said, absolute legend ! Worked a treat on my UK/RHD 2017 GT 5.0 Convertible. This problem had been getting worse over the months to the extent it would drain the battery overnight with the window going up and down. Survived the week removing the window fuse (#26 for RHD drivers-side) but followed the very well described and accurate instructions at the weekend and so far has stopped it happening again. Well worth trying if you're experiencing the same problem. Many many thanks Mcgurr
My GT started to freak out and do this. Took less than 15 minutes to strip the door down and access the connector. It was looking a little crusty, but a few squirts of electrical cleaner sorted that out. Fixed the problem so, thank you for making this video. Regards dielectric grease, I've always applied it to connectors if it is thin enough so that the metal on metal contact is strong enough to overcome the viscosity of the grease. Dielectric grease is designed to pot electrical connections in this way. One way to ensure a good contact with dielectric grease is to connect, disconnect and reconnect the plugs after applying a smear of grease.
You’re an absolute life saver! I have only had my GT for a month and my window started to freak out on me. Looked at many forums, etc…saw everything from replacing motor to control module, but I followed what you did step by step and it worked! Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks for the great in depth video. My wife's 2015 Mustang convertible passenger window would not go all the way up. Followed your instructions and now it's fine. Even torqued the screws and bolts to the proper amount. Now, for at least the next month, I won't have to explain to her why I have so many tools in the garage.
My 2015 GT just started doing this a couple days ago. Thank you so much for posting this video!! I did everything you did and voila! Problem solved! What's interesting is that I saw a tiny bit of blue corrosion on one of the small male pins. Cleaned them all with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, now all the pins look new. Thanks again, great video!!
Good to know and look out for. So far my 2015 hasn’t shown this symptom yet. Side note: it looks like the factory speakers aren’t paper. That’s pretty nice.
It worked for my 2016 convertible! Thanks for posting your explanation was very clear and made the whole thing hassle free. I’m sure my local mechanic would have tried to install a new motor and new wiring harness 😂!
Thanks for the very detailed video! This started to happen randomly on my 2019 Ecoboost (passenger side as well) and followed this today. Definitely saw some moisture underneath the plastic lining & cleaned that up too. Have not seen it happen since putting everything back together. Hopefully to stay that way.
Excellent. I noticed the window seal has a small gap at the front, allowing water to drain into the door at a location near to the electrical socket. I have popped a bit of grease into the gap to act as a seal.
Thanks, my 2017 started doing this 9 months ago. It happens randomly so the dealership couldn’t fix it because they didn’t see the issue when I brought it in.
Sir! Thank you very much, have same problem on my 2 mustangs. Did not try your method yet, but I think it will work! Dealer/stealer talks only about change, replace controller and motor! Thank you again!
Good video. I was getting ready to replace the latch acuator. I figured the problem would be there since that's what tells the system when the door is open or closed. But this will be much easier than replacing the acuator. I'll try this first and go from there. Thanks
Im going ti try this soon on my 2019 GT.. Many forums ive read say to replace motors or call dealerships, but ive called dealerships and they all want to keep my car for 10-14 days.. pfffft im very hopeful based on the comment section here that this should suffice! Fingers crossed!
Great video! I just followed it step by step and I thought it fixed the issue. It seemed fine until I drove it again but then the window went back to jumping up and down. Any other thoughts?
Great video, got same problem. Will tackle mine later in the week. By the way, you haven’t had any problems with your climate control actuator have you?
My 2016 had 2 motors replaced under warranty. Each time, I got about 3 months of normal use and the issue came back. Added dielectric grease to the motor connector after the last replacement, which got me a few more months, but now it's back. I used so much dielectric grease I had to clamp the connector to get it to latch, and it STILL came back. I'm wondering if it's one of the wires or connectors in whatever sensor turns the interior lights on, and drops the window when you open the door. My interior lights stay off, but I'm thinking it's one of the other wires. There's no way it's the motor itself after all of these issues. Also, dielectric grease is non-conductive and designed to be used around electrical connectors. Shouldn't be an issue if it gets in the connector.
Out of curiosity, since your the king of instructional videos on mustang :-) I have a set of Knight Rider lights on my 2015 mustang. I currently have them hooked straight to the battery, but every so often they turn them self's on (without pressing the remote to turn them on) Do you know of a fuse under the hood panel that is a Key on fuse? I've looked around online and have not seen anything showing the underhood panel
Nice. Well, off the top of my head, I know the fuse for the BCM Module (in the car). However under the hood, I had to pull the manual. It seems fuses F53 & F54 should energize once the vehicle has turned on. Also found a forum with the same conclusion: www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2020-accessory-power-fuse-number.158259/ According to your 2015 owner's manual (www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2015-Mustang-Owners-Manual-version-3_om_EN-US_03_2015.pdf), F53 is the Cigar lighter and F54 is the Auxiliary power point. Both are 20A M-case fuses. Hope this helps.
What if this is happening on the driver's side? I am having this problem, and I cannot even locate the sensor, much less figure out the problem. I have a 2010 V6 base model.
The same steps work on the driver side as well. However, is your S197 Mustang doing the exact same thing as the video? Or is it malfunctioning in a different way?
So i did this back in April and now it’s September and the problem has come back. I think my window regulator is just malfunctioning so I’m going to get it replaced
Application should be done very carefully, as the grease will cut off the flow of electricity through the connection if some of it is left between the mating surfaces.
@@mcgurrentertainment it is made to go directly on the metal pins so they are not exposed to moisture or elements. Pack it in there and you will be good.
Hey, great video. I wanted to point you to th-cam.com/video/WYPdy9f6iv8/w-d-xo.html for another possible cause of the shorting which causes the bounce. This poster documents a loose wire in the regulator connector which leads to the short, which I think it's probably worth covering/adding to your already-excellent video!

Very informative video, I believe you can also apply grease to the door module connection too.

Paso a paso ..es increíble.. gracias me ayudaste a solucionar este problema en mi mustang gt 2016🎉
Thank you for the support
En el mio cuando abro la puerta de la nada se baja y se sube un poco y cuando la quiero cerra se queda arriba y no baja, crees que esto funcione
It's possible. Give it a try
Great video! I just followed it step by step and I thought it fixed the issue. It seemed fine until I drove it again but then the window went back to jumping up and down. Any other thoughts?
Unfortunately, if you take it to the dealer, the next step would be the window regulator.

Very odd. Is it both windows still? And I'm guessing it's no longer under warranty.
this would have been a good opportunity to upgrade your speakers and add some sound deadening material
Good call

Hard to say. Could be the window regulator
Why would you not want dielectric grease on the pins? That's what it is designed for.
Application should be done very carefully, as the grease will cut off the flow of electricity through the connection if some of it is left between the mating surfaces.
