- During JOSAA counselling, while filling in the choices of various Departments students have to rely on scattered bits of information, hearsay and sometimes even guesswork. It would be much better if they can base their options on some reliable information from trusted sources.
What source could be more trustworthy than the Professors themselves of the various Departments!
In this video, I sit down for a discussion with a faculty member from Mining Engineering so that students can find comprehensive information about this Department.
The interview is with Prof. Sunita Mishra from the Department of Mining Engineering at IIT Kharagpur.
The following questions are discussed:
What is Mining Engineering all about and what are the broad areas within the Department?
What are these divisions about? Which aspects of engineering do they cover?
Can you give us an idea of the important/fundamental courses that are taught?
What kind of students (based on their skills/temperament/academic interests) are best suited for this Department?
Students learn various things in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and invariably they develop special interests in some topics. Which students would be a perfect fit for this Department based on their PCM interests? In other words, a student may be considered to be a perfect fit for this Department should be strong in which topics from PCM?
How heavy is the course load? Does it leave time for extra-curricular or co-curriculuar activities (like learning programming)
What kind of core jobs are there? Are these available in India?
In which kinds of industries or parts of industry are engineers from this Department absolutely indispensable?
To what extent do you envisage the future of this engineering discipline being impacted by AI? (Not in terms of research but in terms of requirements of engineers from this Department)
What kind of skills, expertise do you think engineers from this Department would need to develop beyond their core skills?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR FOR THIS INDEPTH INFO
Sir, could you please create videos addressing the lower-ranked branches such as Biotechnology, Metallurgy, and Pharmacy? These fields are often unfairly regarded as undesirable due to various myths, and it would be beneficial to clarify these misconceptions.
Next video on engineering physics please
Dear Sir, Please make a video on dropping along with college, I am getting admission in a top NIT, shall I take it and prepare for JEE Advanced alongside to get a commendable IIT next year?
Requesting for your valuable opinion🙏
Top NITs are even better than many IITs , If I were you I would take that top NIT and just go with it.
Partial drop is very inefficient for most people, your cgpa will be less and also it's hard to qualify advanced with that, so no benefits from either side
You should opt for top NITs themselves because top NITs are equivalent to IITs
go for nit , u can prepare for gate and get into iit later on
@saurabhmadhesia_42 Yeah my 2 freind also took partial drop from nit bit somehow failed to get qualified this year also and their cgpa is also less one had backlog
If u are just getting cse or ece in tier 1 nit just take it and enjoy moments
If u r getting lower branch in mediocre or lower nit then only took drop
Thank you Sir. Pls make the next video on chemical engineering . It will be very helpful🙏🏻
Sir please make a video on DOUBLE MAJOR being introfuced in IIT kgp from this year
I like his efforts shares reliable information and data on different engineering branches.
And I request you sir to share such a video on
MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING and MATHEMATICS & COMPUTING Branch.
Sir please bring next video on Ocean engineering and Naval architecture
Sir , i am facing difficulties regarding how will things shape after i will take biotechnology in IIT because not many talks abt research side or job opportunities after taking that branch (i happen to have a really keen interest, atleast i think i do , rest will be know after actually studying it though)......everybody keeps telling me that there are only good opportunities in software side /programming and u must take cs in whichever college u are getting (i am definitely not getting that in IIT) ...so i am really really confused what to do
Your other videos really really helped me and many!....thank you sir
Nowadays, programming is not only for software developer/webdeveloper. It has become like a scientific language (for example, when research is not possible without the knowledge of math). Even if there is interest in research, because it is difficult to do various computational tasks by hand, you have to use the computing power of the computer for which programming is required. So one should not stay away from programming, and now everyone is trying to combine AI/ML with their own field (like computational physics, electromagnetics, biomechanics etc.) and for that it is very important to know basic programming... But programming is not everything, it is very necessary to have knowledge in details about the field in which you want to do research...
My father is in this field. There will be a steep rise in demand for biotech. I suggest you go with it. He even advised me to go for biotech, but I am personally more interested in electronics.
Sir please make a video on metallurgical and materials engineering
Sir, thank you so much, all my confusions are cleared out now I feel very relaxed, thank you so much Sir
Thankyou sir please bring info video of other branches too.😊😊

Sir please tell briefly about ceramic engineering?
Sir,
I am in a very confused state of taking decision here
I am having interest in computers on one side and I learnt few programming languages like C,Python, Java and being attracted towards it but I am not getting cse in any of the top 7 iits
So only choice is nit trichy cse
And on the other side I feel like joining IIT because I studied years for it and also for that tag of IIT and college life etc.,
So I have choice to take iit kgp electrical engineering
Please help in making out a decision sir 🙏
The Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur is legendary both in terms of its rigorous teaching and in launching highly successful careers. Plus there is a good amount of coding that goes on in any engineering department. If you are interested in coding itself then EE would be good choice - and IIT KGP EE an excellent choice. Only if you are interested in the mathematical side, go into CS because there will be a lot of it there - programming is only a part of the CS Department.
Same series for ceramic engineering...
Sir can you please make a video on Engineering physics vs BS physics also and which would be better for pursuing higher studies on the basis of curriculum, possible scope in future. Also sir can you kindly give your opinion on - which would be better: EP in newer IITs or BS physics in old IITs. Thank you
bioengineering is much need sir im very confused whats taught in it and whats the difference btw biotech vs bioeng .. ty for your contribution to help us !
sir please make a video on IITM online data science /electronics system courses
sir I came to know that from this yr in iit kgp dual degree courses are not available through jee adv so I wanted to know that are the seats in iit kgp decreasing or the the dual degree seats converted to btech/bs seats pls confirm.....thank you
Yes at the time of entry the Dual Degree program is not available. The number of seats will remain the same. Later students can opt for the Dual Degree option.
@@Prof_JC thanks a lot sir one more doubt is there any seats increase this yr in kgp?
Chemical engineering
Please bring a prof of IIT Roorkee Engineering Physics. Requested.
Sir make one video about mechanical engineering pls pls
Sir Next session on Metallurgy😊
sir why jee advanced does not give chance for 3rd attempt like other exams neet upsc specially for some students who start their preparation after 12th cause of their are not aware these examination earlier in tier 3 city or villages
If possible, could you please elaborate on the differences between engineering physics at one of the older iits and a BS degree in physics again from one of the older iits or iisc. Which one is better suited to research/academia. Till recently i was all but certain of pursuing a BS degree in physics but im mildly concerned now as even though i love the idea of doing research now i have had literally no experience with it and hence narrowing my options down seems a bit scary . Any advise helps. Thank you
(With my jee advanced rank, The options i have open are BS-MS at IITM, EP at IITB and BS at IISC)
Sir chemical engineering please.... Tell about that branch ❤❤
Sir can red green colour blind take metallurgy .
Please sir clarify this??????
Just a little suggestion to add timestamps and another question . I just qualified JEE advanced and I may get mining/agricultural engineering in IIT KGP and similar branches in other IITs but I am computer enthusiast so I wanna still follow my interest with the degree. Is is a good idea or should I be go for lower IITs with a little better branch but all other branches then CS or AI are equal.
Jc sir I am getting [cse in nit Patna] and [petroleum engineering in IIT dhanbad].sir which one to prefer very 😕😕
Mam what is major difference between metallurgy and minning branch
Wow sir ! What a new initiative ! ❤❤ Really Fantastic 😍 !
Please make a video on computer science engineering also..
And please explain the different between CSE and IT Engineering. ❤
Instead of pursuing such degrees one should pursue a degree in more general type of engineering. For example instead of mechatronics or aeronautical engg, one should aim to get a degree in mechanical
Am i right sir? Please correct me if i am wrong.
Sir please plea for NEET Aspirant.
I got 700/720 in NEET'24
Last year :- 551 AIR
This Year:- 2456 AIR
and why grace marks???

@@ayush3927surely go for csab. You should fill all top colleges and along with it college like nit Hamirpur, nit Agartala, nit meghalaya, nit Andhra, IIEST Shibpur, Nit Raipur, Nit Jalandhar.
Avoid NIT Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram,Jammu.
If you are lucky you might get mechanical in nit meghalaya,AP. Or chemical in nit Agartala.
