Extremely elated to hear the journey of such an accomplished and experienced engineer. TH-cam is full of interviews of superstars in the entertainment and sports fields. Engineers are also superstars in their own way. Especially the insights of what goes on in a core engineering industry must be brought to frontstage. The lack of knowledge about these experiences, roles, and challenges takes away the interest from pursuing such careers.
Actually on TH-cam we do have some interesting videos highlighting the achievements of engineers. However, by default these videos will hardly get recommended unless we start actively start searching for them. For instance, just search for Ajay Bhatt. In the Lex Fridman podcast too, there are some good examples of discussions over engineering achievements.
Dear sir, This video is the best service to our society and nation. Our future lies in the hands of next generation. Not just high level technical knowledge but better emotional intelligence and human values are needed to achieve a successful life. The race has been to accumulate wealth and name. Due to pandemic, I missed both of your offline classes(no you did not compromise with the quality of education,just the interactions could have been different in offline classes),but as a dual degree student hoping to be fortunate enough to share room in Nalanda or in Department. And thank you for the video, waiting for the rest.
I have 25 years of experience in a core industry in India as a mechanical engineer. This was a good discussion , removed from Indian industrial reality. I have reported to very senior bosses who reached their senior posts without knowing the basics of their field. Their skillset was sucking up to their boss and putting people down who were actually working. How your life will turn out is a complete unknown. Just do it and go with the flow. All these videos do not represent reality. At lower level concentrate on your technical skills while at senior levels, your technical skills won't give you any great rewards. I ofcourse speak only about the core industry culture in India.

This discussion was based on Prof. Bhattacharya's experience in three companies while working in India (with a part in the US). And, it goes without saying that his experiences will not capture the entire picture across different companies. Fortunately, he had a really good experience but that may not be so elsewhere as you have pointed out.
Sir I am 2020 EC Passout... quit Infosys and take drop in 2021 for GATE 22...but I am getting 25 marks Main reason i) Syllabus completed by 17 Jan ii) didn't revised all notes iii) 2 mocks only Now I am taking to gave 1 more attempt with drop + give tuitions...& I will make sure not to repeat these mistakes

@GMB I understand that you are doing your part in trying to present the ground reality but I am a final year student so you can be assured that i am mature enough to know all this . I don't have a very idealistic view about IITs, every college has its own set of problems and at end it's you who has to make the most effort but still the situation is much better there as compared to where i come from.
How many IIT Kgp BTech(mech or metallurgy) join HAL, Heavy Vehicles Factory Avadi, MECON, ISRO, NAL, GTRE, ADE, ... ? How many worked on the Tejas? Is it any wonder we have to make an AK assault weapon with Russian collaboration? We do not have an indigenous jet engine? We cannot reproduce parts for Russian tanks? ... If IIT engineers are going to reskill themselves to become coders, or financial modelers, or bankers, or bureaucrats, ... How is Bharat ever going to become atmanirbhar?
Why doesn't India produce more? Can you explain why India doesn't make more products for the global market? In the USA, I rarely see "Made In India" on anything. Why?
Hi Professor, I have Electrical eng degree and 5years exp in software testing (manual). I want to upskill and move into semiconductor either in machine learning or something related to VLSI. Which u would suggest coaching or full time M.Tech (Through Karnataka CET or CDAC) Carrier growth in present company isn't that good so thinking about the change. Currently 3months I have thought of devoting it to KPTCL preparation (state Electrical board), if this doesn't work then I really need to upskill and move on. Please reply I'm in need.
What if your boss is in a post of DGM at a well recoganised company in a production department ........who is not technically qualified and certified and his qualification is in MA arts.........and is a voulentier of BJP
@@aviralprakashpandeyiitkgp18 Sorry. But I was myself Dual. And although I did my own PhD from India, I know of my batchmates from Dual who had to go through the Masters level coursework when they went to the US.
We r so heavily dependent on getting a job in a already well established industry that we, the majority of engineers , forget about innovating something out of our own and mass produce it forming our own small industry. India cant even produce a decent smart phone such low is our state of entrepreneurship mentality. Is it becuz of incompetency or risk avoidance god knows. No wonder our so call start up boom is in a decline. We want to make quick buck. And when we fail we blame it on inflation recession and what not. But look at japanese or western brands. They hv survived for decades and also delivered profit. Isnt mercedes bmw honda yamaha surviving well? And look at our automotive industry. Creating shitty unsafe cars which dont even get approval outside.
Please first learn the softwares as per the requirements of your course work and M.Tech project work. It also depends on what your profs are using and what is available at your institute. On the programming side, I think you will be immensely benefited if you learn MATLAB and Python.
@@Prof_JC For somebody who's not from IITs, would a certificate from online sources like EdX would be acceptable when applying for PhD as a requirement? If not what do you recommend for submitting as a proof for languages such as python?
@@arukshatathakur5228 There is no need for any certificate. If a student says they know it, we will believe them. And, then if it turns out that they don't, they are only going to harm their own progress.

In the US you will have to clear their Masters level courses even if you are a Dual Degree pass-out.

Please first learn the softwares as per the requirements of your course work and M.Tech project work. It also depends on what your profs are using and what is available at your institute. On the programming side, I think you will be immensely benefited if you learn MATLAB and Python.
