Being a vfr vr flyer and having been a happy user since you first mentioned it I will have a look today now that Im back from my holidays. Thanks again for the info...
the auto detection does not work reliably yet in my experience. Something that might help would be being able to set a minimum allowed FPS target and a maximum allowed FPS target so the program doesn't over- and undershoot as much.
Hi mark another great guide just getting into flight simming myself with velocity stick just wondering what version of flight sim you use is it game pass 40th anniversary edition or steams version and can this app be used on either ?
AutoFPS looks great. I will defiantly be giving it a try. Thanks for sharing. To slightly change the subject; with all the discussion around DLSS etc. these days, is it a good idea to be making all these changes? Example the nvidia upgrades to the DLSS files in MSFS?Is this something that you (Simhanger) would be doing on a regular basis?
Well commented, as always. Thank you from Germany. I use a three projector setup in my HomeCockpit, 4KHD with RTX 4090 card. Could i discuss the settings with you? If so, plse PM me if possible. ❤
Hi Mark, Im struggling to get this working. My connection status stays red on simconnect and session. It is however picking up the sim as MSFS is green. Any ideas what could be the issue?
If you use AutoFS, do you set the general settings for PC and VR settings to Ultra and AutoFS will automatically downgrade the settings or should you still adjust the general settings according to your system?
i want to use this instead of smoothflight becuase it bothers me to see the scenery constantly changing. the problem is when i use Autofps it also changes the pc settings in the sim and not just the vr settings. (causing lag). am i doing something wrong? why arent more people aware of this and what should i do? thanks.
Silly question... my system is pretty high end and I generally get between 40-70 fps even in dense areas. Wondering if my system needs it or could benefit? I'd appreciate your input.
@SimHangerFS Agree 100%. My opinion is that the "Dynamic LOD" version of the software is better for high -end rigs. Low TLOD at ground level payware in big cities, right up to 400 TLOD at Cruz altitude. Works fantastic with 4080 4k 120. Really improves the overall experience without being specific to a set FPS.
Maybe you can help with an issue I’m having. I’m running an RTX 4090, i9 14900k, 64gb 5400 ram and the latest ssd. I’m using a 65” LG Oled G3 TV at 4k PC mode. As soon as I install AutoFPS I start getting stuttering and 1 or 2 second pauses from the mouse cursor. Never noticed that before. It also happens when I installed TrackIR 5. I see 100-140ms PC Latency which seems crazy to me. This is even before launching msfs. I am using the latest DLSS 3.7.
The first thing to check is your TV refresh rate. Your FPS will be limited by this. Secondly I do not recommend the DLSS update/hack. Thirdly with your spec you shouldn’t need AutoFPS anyway. Use TAA mode and you should get an incredible image.
Yes, works fine in TAA, haven’t tried it in DLSS, but can’t see why it would not work just great. You cannot see the config panel in VR though so need to drop out of VR to adjust etc.
DLSS, TAA, Meta link, Virtual DT, and all other combos work fine … but like I mentioned … if you are locking fps you need dynamic lod, which works beautifully.
sooooo I have curently the settings in which I am happy with , but if I use this what seems a luvly program will it bugger my current settings?? and if I don't like what this program does will it restore to the settings I had before ?? or shall make note of all my settings first so I can go back if I am not happy with this program. This program seems good though
Its a great Program Mark, but i always get jerky scenery on approach to airports especially looking outside the passenger windows. I've got a RTX 4090 and Ryzen 3D7800 and good FPS. I've done all the clearing Cache stuff. but still get this jerky micro stutter close to the ground. none of these programs seem to help as FPS is not a problem!!!
This is probably not your problem, but we do have the same system (4090 + 7800X3D). I was getting little micro-stutters close to the ground, noticeable during approach (in airliners). If I look down and to the left I could see the regular tiny stutters. In my case it was caused by Malwarebytes (payware). Even though I had exempt many game folders including MSFS from any sort of scanning (including hidden system folders used by MSFS). I simply close Malwarebytes when flying now, it solved the problem. So even if you don't used Malwarebytes, other virus/malware scanners may also do the same thing. Good luck.
@@macmusicaI still don't know what you mean. I don't think I have ever said don't use auto-start, unless you are having a problem with it. Again, what problem are you talking about?
Completely unnecessary for PCVR with an i9 13900k/rtx4090 imho. Might help lower-end PC's. There are potential problems with these mods/hacks because they may effect msfs memory allocation. These mods are currently banned from the msfs user forum btw. I wouldn't recommend using these until msfs developers support these. Like everything you see on YT many so-called game-changer addon vida, it's up to you to decide what's best of course.
I disagree because I noticed an immediate and large improvement as soon as I started using this program. I certainly DO recommend this program because it makes such an improvement to the sim. Jerry
@@theworldssexiestman Ya, maybe you have a low to medium spec PC which is what @simHangerFS says this is aimed at. In any case, if you think it has helped, that's great.
Point of correction: I refer incorrectly to TEXTURE LOD in my commentary. This is wrong I meant to say TERRAIN LOD. Apologies, having a senior moment!
This software has me addicted to msfs again it works amazing best software ever made for the sim
The application is being updated at pace and it will be exciting to see where this leads.
Set and forget indeed, i 've waited 4 years for this.
Microsoft should have this as an option, along with a repeatable benchmark to make things easier to tweak.
Following the last dev update, Asobo said it was’’on their list’’?
Being a vfr vr flyer and having been a happy user since you first mentioned it I will have a look today now that Im back from my holidays. Thanks again for the info...
If this superb program had existed before, I wouldn't have had to buy a 4090
So true…
I’m still glad I have my 4090
If you’re in VR (which is the only choice imo) then you can never have too much grunt 😂
Most well explained and easiest to understand video about AutoFPS
the beagle dog icon reminds me of my 11y dog who crossed the rainbow bridge last year.
Odd choice for the app I thought.
Thanks Mark.
Great video!! Thanks.

Auto target FPS is new and I am aware it needs to be refined a bit more. I'll consider your suggestion, thanks.
@@ResetXPDR thank you. I really do appreciate the work you are doing it helps a lot with performance.
Hi mark another great guide just getting into flight simming myself with velocity stick just wondering what version of flight sim you use is it game pass 40th anniversary edition or steams version and can this app be used on either ?
I use store version. Yes can be used on all except cloud gaming and Xbox.
Sadly the tool does nothing for me. I thought it will adapt settings to get the desired fps. If that's not the case I can adjust everything manually.
AutoFPS looks great. I will defiantly be giving it a try. Thanks for sharing.

TLOD is Terrain level of detail, you call it texture level of detail in this video which is a bit confusing.
My error, apologies
I was saying the same thing, but great video none the less.

Adjust for your system. Let AutoFPS do its work then you can adjust as you go.

After we use AutoFPS, what happens to our old configuration? Is the configuration restored when we are not using the program?
Yes, as soon as you quit AutoFPS
@@SimHangerFS Thank you for your reply! I'll try Autofps in my computer!!

I have a 14900k & 4090 and find I don’t really need it, but for those on low to medium end systems it will be a godsend.
On my 4070 is saves me from some stutters on busy airports which is great

I have 😊
Yes … and if you are using ASW or locking FPS it simply won’t work so need dynamic lod from same author - works great 👍

I like the app, however, every time I run FS, it starts in window mode, which I don't like. Is there a way to control this?
This is an MSFS bug, to be fixed in upcoming update.
Unfortunately I had to uninstall this app. It kept crashing MSFS. Seeing this I'll try re-installing it and hopefully it'll work proper.
Run MSFS first.

On exit the sim or you close app all your MSFS settings are restored automatically. Even if a CTD.
