So Non-native English speaker like you can be eligible to teach English in China? Or did you actually take trainings for it? I guess you should settle down over there cause you seem so happy in China
You have such a lively personality and aura! You are positivity in person! I love watching your videos. I will be starting college in September and I will either study Chinese and Japanese or English and French and whatever path I end up with, my goal is to move to China. Keep doing great and informative videos! 谢谢 🇵🇹😘
Very positive attitude towards teaching in China. It is happy to see that you can treat the career in China for advancement in mental challenge, various life experience, spiritual growth, and giving you independent financial living.
@Lenaaround Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it No one wants to be defeated Showin' how funky and strong is your fight It doesn't matter who's wrong or right Just beat it (beat it) Just beat it (beat it) Just beat it (beat it) Just beat it (beat it uuh)
Hopefully I'll be in Northern China April 1. 2018! I will be teaching English. I am very excited and can not wait. I will be in a smaller city. I requested a smaller city as it will push me to adapt to the culture and learn Mandarin faster.
Thanks for your insights :) One thing makes me wonder a bit, also about English teachers in Thailand who don't speak Thai: Since I don't know Chinese, how do I tell the kids what i.e. apple means in their language? Do I have to get kinda fluent in Chinese before I can start? Or did you use pictures (from an apple, etc.) or always learned the Chinese translation before you teached the class? (I mean when you started and didn't speak Chinese yet). And if I'd do that, how can I be sure the students understand my (bad) pronounciation? Would be very interested, how you managed this. :)
Most places want you to speak English only in the classroom so it is considered full immersion. Your co-teacher will help out with the native language.
Ok now it's a bit clearer, thanks for your answer :) So they maybe want English speakers, without a Chinese accent. And the co-teacher will translate to them, what it means in Chinese. And if I ask the students, if they learned the vocabularies and what certain words mean, the co-teacher translates the students answers to me. My thought was, if the co-teacher speaks English and Chinese, they don't need me to teach lol. It would always be a triangulated communication, so complicated.^^
Is there a huge language barrier when teaching? How did u find the students in china different from those u may have taught back home? Im also a teacher btw and considering moving to china as a possible option :), nice video.
Nice, I like your video. I'll send you a message when I get there in September, if I survive. I'm suppose to be teaching a class of 60-70 students and this is in middle school. So wish me well.
Haha...all the while I was more worried about you knocking over the beautiful vase and the beautiful flowers! Than listening to what you had to say hehe....Beautiful background. Where was it Ling Ling?
Some teachers have visa, some don't . I've been to a few English schools/centers in China as a student, there were quite many teachers who were non-native English speakers, I also had local Chinese teachers to teach us English. Anyway, white teachers would have advantage since students/parents believe that English belongs to White folks. This kinda stereotype/racist thing applies to Taiwan, HK, Korea and Japan too. However, I personally think Lena's English is great along with her charming personality, so she is definitely good enough to teach English as a second language.
Great video as always Lingling ☺️ I sent the link to a group I am in with a few people going to China ☺️ Most of them are if not all of them are looking to become or are teachers 😀
Nice stuff! Anyway there are in fact some racial discrimination especially to the black race which limits the chances of getting a lucrative teaching job in china. Can you sort of talk about this in your subsequent uploads? What's your experience on this issue!
I'm starting as a teacher in Beijing in April this year! This is a very good informative video :) thank you
Great, hope you'll like it :D x

Hey, are you working on a work visa in China? How can non native speakers get that for teaching? Just curious!
