Man you Americans are so lucky when it comes to live shows, living here in Australia no one used to tour. The only international shows I saw were Rainbow in 78, Thin Lizzy in 78, Iron Maiden in 82, Motorhead in 83, Dio in 85, Pink Floyd in 88 and Metallica in 89. The only other artists I remember touring here in that time were Def Leppard and Twisted Sister.
Loving all these stories! Especially meeting the leopard-pants girl at the Billy Squier show and porking her in the nosebleeds! LOL, I didn't turn 16 until 1986 and so I missed the chance to see a lot of these great bands during their heyday. My parents never woulda let me go see Van Halen and Ozzy when I was like 13 and 14 because they knew how much booze and pot was available at these concerts HA HA HA! Keep posting all the great stories about the crazy 80's, Doc, because we all MISS IT TERRIBLY!
I worked at the Pizza Hut on University and Taft, the cops eat for free and would let us in the Sportatorium when a concert was there...those were the days...
Bro,love your channel,so as I survived 8th grade in 1978 me and my Best friend managed tickets to our first concert Black Sabbath/Van Halen Now first we were die hard Sabbath fans And that was our first Motivation we had Van Halen 1 it just came out but we're still basic Bean bag basement stereo babes and rockin out. Came with whopping or scratched record by Army Vet Dad ,, Anyway My life completely changed after seeing and experiencing Eddie/VH live how can I compare the riffs and sounds and Live,,We all were This was Spokane by the way, Sabbath had a major incident I was on black star acid colo gold Toni cut his finger supposedly right at beginning they stopped the show people started throwing bottles pennies Frisbees ,Ozzy came over PA and said One more thing hits this stage were packing,,it was torture I panicked while peeking jumped on the floor made it too left side stacks and Bam!!! lights went out and back drop was black light Iron man beast thing I recently found that show Backdrop and I'll try and find it for you I'm sorry you weren't old enough for that, saw the 81 tour with another story about my girlfriend who worked at. The Sheraton and had Dave in her section and his notorious whistle tour,,I only wish I had more room to write more, saw VH brothers 86 5150 another story best Bass solo Ever
i know how it feels to lose someone very close to me as well grandpa passed in 2020 so i empathize with wilson and i relate with him in this bad time sending him lots of possitive vibes as well!! ps very cool video as always!!
I saw a lot of these shows up in Portland Maine. Scorpions, Priest were amazing. Bon Jovi had a power outage and they had a super long drum solo to take up the time. That band Fastway was great. Angus went out in the crowd on a stagehands shoulders. I went to Peaches also to get Motley's autographs. There was a huge snowstorm in Maine at the time. The concert was almost canceled.
I saw Tina Turner in Dec 85' what a Strong Talented Women! She was Amazing!..I looked her up and found you! What a Great series you have! Nice affiliation!
Re: Snider fight - I saw Ted Nugent threaten to punch out the sound guy on stage at MSG when he opened for Aerosmith on the Done With Mirrors tour- 1986..
Bob segar blew away molly hatchet at the baseball stadium I thought Molly hatchet sucked at that show if I remember correctly the ticket had the horses with glitter love your stories that deep purple perfect strangers show I got on the stage and sat right in back of jon Lord I sat in back of him for about 15 minutes before I got kicked off
I saw Bon Jovi open for the Scorpions & the very best part of their show was when the guitarist (Didn't know who he was then & still don't) for some other band came out on stage & jammed with them. I've NEVER been a fan of Jon Von Blowme.
I don’t know the details of what happened to Wilson, but my condolences go out to him and rest in peace to who sadly passed in his family. I pray for him and his family safety, my condolences go out to him 🙏🙏🙏
Meeting a random stranger at a rock concert and 15 minutes later having sex with them was pretty normal back then. If you were a decent-looking long haired Metalhead you probably have the same story 🤘🤘
Hey bro if you ever get the chance to talk to David Lee Roth ask him about playing the tangerine bowl where The stones headlined and David Lee Roth forgot the words and was drunk and by second song they got booed off stage then Mick Jagger came out with fire hose spraying the crowd down telling everyone to cool off i was there
Only two parts of the series remain! After that, you gotta do a crazy concert stories from either the Sunrise Musical Theatre or the Button South series! Also, 11:15-12:17 OMG, that is a story worthy of sharing if anyone invites you onboard on a livestream, maybe with Crypt of Metal-O-Mania and the Thralls of Metal!
Thanks for the kind thoughts Ralph. Your content always makes things better. Just probably not as good as f$&king at a concert which is a close second to getting to do it in a library. God bless easy girls in leopard colored pants.

Love these, Doc! Brings back my own memories of concerts in the 80s, although I didn't start going until '85.

I also saw Maiden and Purple on those tours in Stl. Both were great shows
Love this series... !!! I saw 3 shows at the Sporto. so love hearing the tales.
Saw VH on 1984 and I agree flawless performance! In my top 10 out of my 4 decades of concerts.

That Mötley Crüe/Ozzy story never gets old! Stay Frosty!!🤘🏻
Saw VH on the Friday 1/20 show. Had a banner that was torn down from the upper level.
Funny, the only thing I remember about Kick Axe opening for Judas Priest too was that the singer was barefoot, because I hate that.
