I loved hearing your mom talk about how often she attend church, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, Wednesday evenings. I had this conversation with my grandson a few days ago how I went to chuch 3 times a week. :) He goes to a Christian school, he said he goes to "church" almost everyday. :)

Love this. As you get older, not knowing how much longer you may be here, nostalgia takes over. It's always nice to revisit your stomping grounds back in the day. I'm so happy for your parents to have been able to go back in time, thanks to you giving them the opportunity. I would catalog these jaunts with them together for your own use. Great memories.

Wow. Not gonna lie, I got choked up with this video. Your mom is such a beautiful lady, inside and out. I'm so glad you are able to spend quality time with her and learn about her past. I know you are definitely cherishing this time with her. Sadly, my mom passed back in 2008. She would have been 74 this year. It's cool that your mom and my mom both graduated high school in '66, and you and I are the same age!

Went by my Dad's hometown back in October, wish he was still around to tell me about it... Had not been there since 1968... Enjoy your folks man, make sure to learn the family history before that generation is gone, like my Dad's family...fortunately we did... Knowing where you came from helps let you find out why you are the way you are.

My Dad was born in 1920 in Ironwood Michigan, which at that time was a bustling mining town of 25,000 in the U.P. WW2 took him away from their and he never went back to live there after the war ended. I did hear lots of stories about that area though and him growing up through the depression with 6 brothers and sisters. Dad passed away here in Georgia, where I also live , in 2008. I made a trip up to Ironwood this past summer. The population is a little less then 5,000 now and really the area is just returning to pre-civilization wilderness. The tiny house he grew up in is still there! Visited the local historical society located in the old train depot and learned a lot about the town and in one display case they had a group picture of the 1938 graduating class of Dad's high school and he was pictured in it! Like you I wish he'd have been there with me. The thing is, none of his siblings or his parents stayed there. They all either moved to lower Michigan during the war for better paying jobs or went into the services and never moved back, and Ironwood is not a place you'd ever just pass through going from point a to b. If you ever find yourself there it is because that was your destination, so I hadn't ever seen it. We did find my great grandparents grave site.

Very wise words James. Whatever your history was (good and bad parts) cherish that which is good, learn from the bad, do better and - PASS IT ON. Those not rooted in their generations are easily manipulated and used by politicians, and cranks.

That’s fantastic that your grandparents land is still owned by family!
That’s a pretty church where your parents married. The conversation you had about anniversaries makes me think back to one of your Dad’s videos he filmed on their anniversary that was so unexpectedly clever and perfect. It was 1/2 video and 1/2 photo montage and part of the photo montage was your mom standing next to a cannon at Castillo de San Marcos with the tag “my beautiful bride… the love of my life… standing beside her favorite cannon” 💕💕 Too sweet those two!!! Cherish every moment!

Thanks for taking all of us along for the trip down memory lane for your mom. When you showed the trailer that your grandparents lived in triggered memories of mine. Mine also lived in a trailer but it is was white with blue trim. And the door on it really brought back memories cause they had the same door. My granddaddy also had a garden. I have fond memories of helping him with getting the veggies ready to cook.

I am so glad you are documenting all of this, Adam. You said you had never been through these places before. This is great to have documented for yourself and your family. It's also nice for those of us who follow you and your journeys to learn some of your family history and nostalgia. I'm someone who appreciates this type of stuff very much, so I enjoy it when you delve into your own nostalgia, and your parent's nostalgia, and share it with us. These have all been great videos so far with this new series since the new year and I'm really enjoying it. All the local history from each place you are visiting is very valuable to have documented. Especially if one day the construction and landscape for each place ends up changing one day. It will be great to bring up these videos and see what an area looked like before the changes. Keep doing what you are doing. These are all wonderful to save for posterity. Stay safe and safe journeys to you and your mom.

As I have enjoyed your channel for the past year or so, I was excited to see your recent videos when you were in Myrtle Beach,SC last week where I have lived for the past 7 years, but then today to see your video of your trip to Martinsville ,Va, my HOMETOWN where I was born and raised and spent the first 35 years of my life was extremely special! I was surprised to know your family roots are there as you know Martinsville in such a small town and to know your family was from there was awesome to find out! I know the areas you visited very well (always loved the cake house and chatham area) even though I was from the Spencer/Horsepasture area! And the cemetery you visited (Roselawn) is where my parents are buried as well other family/friends! So for the past 2 weeks to see you where I currently live and the area I came from was awesome! I have enjoyed your channel very much but now knowing your roots are from there definitely tells me the kind of people you and your family are...now I will enjoy your future videos even more just knowing this!! Thanks Adam!

Big fan, and a VA native. I'm planning on touring the west coast based on many of your films, but it is really cool to see the VA connection and your films in VA. Thank you for your work.

I loved this video Adam.I am 75 now and looking at this brings back memories of when i was a kid.back then you would see kids out playing and riding bicycles.you don't hardly see that any more.my grandboys are grown but i am glad i was able to get outside with them and teach them to play ball when they were growing up.to many kids now days are glued to their cell phones and so are their parents.

Your mom is wonderful. I love that she just tolerated high school. Me too. Thanks for another great video.

I usually never comment. But, I had to tell you that this was a super cool video. I loved the memories you shared. And, it must’ve been really special for you and your mom to explore the property that was still intact. Love that grandpa‘s work overalls were still hanging there! I could feel the emotions. Thanks.

What a great video, Adam. I truly enjoyed watching you and your Mother travel down memory lane. Your Mother and Father seem so nice and genuine. I can see where you get your congenial nature from. Thank you for sharing this special time with your Mother with us.

Seeing your grandpa’s truck reminds me of my dad’s old truck, which we’ve kept since he passed December of 2019. Pulling up to my mom’s house now, seeing the truck, makes me almost expect to see him coming out of the garage. Good job Adam, making these memories with your parents. I am sure they love getting to be with you.

Was lucky to grow up about 100 miles west of Martinsville, and had a similar close relationship with my great-grandparents and grandparents when I was young. From the family homeplace, the old F100, hand-built auto garage, the additions to the trailer, and socializing at Hardees... lot's of similarities. Undoubtedly why you're so relatable to so many of us followers. Thanks to you and your mom for sharing your family memories!
