- The Most Offensive Sequel Ever
This video looks at the postal franchise, particularly Postal 4
The postal games are often called the worst games ever made, or the most violent games ever made, and while postal 1, had it's quirks, I think the game received more hate than it deserved, that's why I made this video, hope you enjoy!

I'm honestly blown away by how lovley the creators of a game like Postal actually are.
I brought a sign from their site and jokingly asked for a signature in the requests, and not only did Vince and Mike take the time to sign it and throw in their business cards
But they even drew a dick on it for good measure.
XD sounds like them tbh lol
If I had a nickel everytime I knew of a creator of a dark and grimy or horror creations was a lovely person I would have two nickels. Which is weird it happen twice (for those who don't know something similar happens with junji Ito who despite having such a terrifying mythology and scary style is a lovely person)

Great video! We have an update going very soon out that addresses a lot of the issues posted in this video. We appreciate your show of faith that we will put the issues right, and very much hope you do revisit P4 again in a year to see where it's at then.
Great to hear, wishing the entire team the best of luck with future development, I’ll be keeping my eye on!
Okay but like u gonna add him to the game too ?
Glad to hear that

@@bugjams I tried that a while ago and the same thing happened. It is possible they might have added an alternate outcome recently, but I wouldn't know.
It always catches me off guard
The main draw to gory games as a kid (at least for me) was the fact the violence wasn't real, it didn't look real and that made it comical rather than just messed up. The cartoon style is a good choice I think.
Now I'm wondering if pointless will cover the darkness franchise
[prototype] is a perfect game for a young teen lad. Just the right amount of edge and awesome for the age group
Main draw of gore is the shock effect it has

I love that the devs made sure to go after the glitches and bugs mentioned in this video, listening to complaints in it and trying to make things right.
I love these guys
The humor for this game is pretty tame by today's standards, but the most offensive thing about the game is the developers charging full price for a half bake product
This is the intelligent take.
In a world where Postal 3 exists, Postal 4 gets to look better than it is. Then again, P3 is still the fault of RWS.
Postal 3 is like Godfather 3 - a bad idea that most people avoid. Having purchased and played the Postal games out of sequence (postal 2, then 1, then P2:Apocalypse weekend, with postal 3 last) I really started with the best and things just got worse as I acquired and played them. To this day I have gone through Postal 2 several times and enjoy it each time, yet Postal 3 I didn't even get halfway through it and probably never will. It looks like I'm going to skip postal 4 unless it goes up on Steam for $2.00 or something, and even then I don't think I can put my full attention to it. Postal 2 was great in its design - it had technical flaws but you could forgive that because the game didn't take itself seriously. But postal 3 and most of 4 just seem like they had a ssss filled with wacky ideas written on paper scraps and they randomly drew ideas for missions. Gone is the silliness and parody of 2, and in its place you got random shit, both literally and figuratively. They are trying so hard to be edgy and offensive that they forgot they had to make the game work ( literally and figuratively as well!)
After 3 I never thought there would be a 4, now I hope there is never be a postal 5.
@@MrTim223 That's just an insult to Godfather Part III, especially when you consider there's a re-edited version that came out recently. Almost nothing should be compared to Postal III.
True, but also most games do it, thus no negative opinions are formed in the general population.
Part of the joke i guess
10:53 though it does look a bit jarring, that image of the a-posing mariachi band staring at you when you are inside a coffin is just so unapologetically hilarious. It's the equivalent of seeing a t-posing heavy in TF2, it is just so unexpected but so fitting at the same time
Gianni Matragrano (popular TH-cam VA) actually voiced a couple supporting characters in the game, so they definitely have been showing love for their fans on TH-cam which is super wholesome
Every indie and non triple a game has Gianni voicing in them, he's like the yuri lowenthal of zoomers
there's also Jake the Voice, another VA who did the voice for Tinklage
And of course Civvie is there, for obvious reasons.
holy shit gabriel ultrakill
I went looking for anyone else who realized this fact after recognizing the anxious well worker's voice.
Him getting an infraction for sleeping outdoors is actually realistic. Homeless people get slapped with misdemeanors and fines like crazy, at least in bigger cities in my region. Usually stuff like public indecency (sleeping) and loitering (having no private property to return to). Makes it all the more difficult to claw your way back up from the bottom.
While watching the part with the female DJ, I noticed something that made me go like "No way". Her name is Carter Cruise, who was a former adult actress who became a DJ irl lol
She voiced herself in the game
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that calling porn stars actors is an insult to actors.

I thought the same. If it was on purpose , that’s probably one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a game.
damn.. sharp eye on you. i doubt it - but as from one Poe obsessive to another... respect bro
There is technically a good ending, and I think it's not too hard to get. Doing so nets you an acknowledgement that you actually did some good, and a more ominous feeling.
Yeah I’m one of those people that tries to be good in games even when the game is basically encouraging you to commit crime, if I’m given the option to do good I will usually do it, trust me I have a great personality, I just think it’s interesting how people will react when there is truly no consequences to your actions, where the only thing players think of is the Xp the money or how much fun they have.
The likely hood that a player will see that good ending, unless they know about and are trying to get it is I’d say one in ten thousand

I find it surprising modern games suffer from technical issues so often when everything else is really well done. Perhaps the tools have advanced further than a lot of developers' ability to use them.
Devs are expected to make bigger and bigger things while not having the time to fix them and it they delay they’ll get death threats from asshole fans and probably a lot of grief from the higher ups
Not really
Tools are better but hardware is also a lot more complex
So you can make insanely good games without worrying about the hardware limitations or the tools
So the limiter became the human part
One can only do so much
Characters used to consist of a dozen polygons on ps1 now it can go up to hundreds of thousands
Sure devs aren't making each polygon like they used to that would be impossible but they have to do way way more work for one character
And no one is going to wait 15+ years for a single game
So it's a tight deadline with high expectations not dev limits
I think is more about strict deadlines and bad administration.
Other Devs had to make those tools to begin with too. But the issue is that it's always a ton of moving parts. Lots of things need to work together in just the right ways and when a scale gets to be as big as a video game can be, things can slip through the cracks. Now I haven't watched the video yet, but that's my two cents from personal programming experience + slight knowledge on how game engines work.
@@brymsd8895 Used to be they held out even announcing a game's existence until it was basically done and ready to ship. Pre-order culture created a financial incentive to announce it sooner to bolster quarterly financial reports, which led to having to ship sooner at the same time as development schedules started ballooning in direct proportion to graphical fidelity demands, which led to games shipping untested, leading to patch culture, which further supported less and less complete releases to the point even AAA games tend to ship outright incomplete out of the box, relying on patch servers that may not even be online 5 years later. This whole mess comes from gamers simply being unwilling to say no, no matter how bad things get.
Soo excited to see you talk about this, your first video got me into the franchise so I was ecstatic to see this!
To be honest. This game, from the review, seems like a crisis. They're trying so hard to make something like Postal 2 but modernized while adding new things to make it seem new.
It's definitely stuck between out of touch humor and trying to relive the "glory" days. If you can call having niche success for a 10 year old game finally being ported to Steam "glorious".
Not a bad game inherently, but not remotely worth 40 bucks.
The 20 I paid for EA was a little much, even.
@@grabble7605 I mean in a critical sense, it is.
Doesn't make it un-fun for its purpose, but it isn't a GOTY franchise.
The best I can describe Postal 4 is pretty much a bad comedy movie sequel.
The first game (let’s say Postal 2 since it’s the most well known from the franchise) is generally well received and beloved by the fans.
Postal 4 feels like the studio trying to make a sequel to live up to that classic but never quite reaching it and ending up falling flat.
I'll say one thing about any game developed by Running with Scissors. You know they'll be working on that game for decades to come. I'm still seeing updates here and there for Postal 2 in 2022, as small and incremental they may be, most devs would just stop working on that game at some point.
Working on P2, which is as done as it can get, seems like a waste of resources given the state of P4. A game that released a year too early.
The moment i heard you talk about the horror/spooky themed areas, it made me remember your stuff about the suffering/manhunt again as these are both brutal and your narration enhanced pretty much everything in these videos.

27:10 if not for the game being in a generally broken state, I'd say the tunnel leading to a wine cellar with a brick wall behind it could either be a simple speakeasy cellar or a Cask of Amontillado reference.
Oddly enough, it has a comic series that focuses on the lore behind the town and having read it myself its actually pretty crazy how they managed to tie the reasoning behind the crazy in the game

I might’ve died laughing a bit here
When the game came out of early acces, in the patchnotes RWS came out and said that the entire reason they brought it out of early access in the first place is because they really fucking need the money. Mike J, one of the lead staff for the game (and the guy who runs their social media, i believe) has stated that the game is far from done but they don't want to go through any publishers that could fund the game, instead preferring to do everything in-house. That means funding the game themselves. This doesn't excuse how shitty the game's current bulds are, but it at least gives a better reason for jank than Battlefield's atroceous launch. EA are a perfectly competent company that released a broken product. RWS are a small-fry company with a dedicated fanbase, who are trying to create a modern Postal 2. Very VERY different.
Prison Warden made such a mistake he started to speak Polish💀

The most offensive franchise has returned with a game that is afraid to be offensive
My interrest in Postal 2 was that you could do anything, no NPC was protected, you could just lay hell on the bysanters. To bad they always force fed you with linear levels. Apocalypse Weekend added so many good mechanics but ruined it by making it linear and almost no open map.
AW was small cheap DLC made fast i think
27:27 a Guy yelled “GET DOWN AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” like bro your not the one getting shot at😭
2:00 cartoonish? I WISH they went for a stylised cartoony look for the exact reason that you said. they relied on the unreal marketplace a lot so that less development time had to be spent on assets, but I wish theyd had a proper art direction, it looks really messy and inconsistent. that being said, the art that they _did_ make for the game (the characters, cutscenes, and any other unique game art) does look pretty nice
In of itself what they did with those asset flip isn't a bad idea especially with their budget, but they should invest time to modify them and retexture it for the purpose to fit the overall comic cartoon artstyle with what they already got. Or if you prefer, repurpose it intelligentely, Postal 2 did just that.

I love it when Postal Dude said “Jesse, it’s time to cook”
The Postal movie was pretty good and I'm tired of pretending it isn't.
Dave Foley does that for things.
Also, in the only case of its kind, its a movie not even Uwe Boll could fuck up. (In fact, its the only movie he should ever have been allowed to make, he was born for it. His useless ideology toward film-making was made for Postal)
3:29 Welp, that was a nice surprise in the subtitles lol. Great vid man.
I only realized with, like, 10 minutes left in the video that parts of this game reminds me of Xavier: Renegade

After watching both Postal videos in a row, the return of Postal 1 guy was like an absolute punch in the gut, but in a good way
I was expecting them to forget about that funeral bit, but there he was
"Who cares, stop living in the past, we're here now and it's glorious"
Saving that one
The "sexy" outfit you get from the store is a Rocky Horror Picture Show reference. It's what Tim Curry wears in the movie.
Funnily enough, the pacifist route ending is funny simply because it just feels so random, “congratulations you didn’t kill anyone, here’s your trailer that I somehow got my hands on for being such a good boy”
19:57 I can remember that kind of dying has been used by Dying Light, most players first notice this in the School mission where you fight a bunch of Rais's men and if you kill one and die and come back, your progress is saved, dying is more like respawning at the nearest spawn point.
I hope they update this, even if it's only bugs, and not making rooms looks a bit less like sneak thief, it's still an upgrade
This game kinda seems like the kid that thinks no one likes him because he’s too edgy when its just that he’s annoying

Unfortunately, Postal 2 is better in every possible way besides the visuals (they still fucked it up with the cartoon shader nonsense). Ragdolls feel better, gore is better, shooting feels better, etc. As a fan of the franchise, who ordered multiple physical copies of the earlier games when they weren't available to purchase anywhere else, this entry was as much of a letdown as Postal 3-and yeah-that's saying a lot.
@@emulation2369 Never heard of that mod, so I will definitely check it out. I'm a little bit skeptical that postal 3 can be saved, but you never know!
It's because P2 is built in a version of Unreal that was made specifically for arena shooters.
Unreal became THE premiere copy and paste Jack-of-all-master-of-none engine with UE3.
Same reason Unreal Tournament 3 sucked. (That, and it being made for consoles over PC didn't help there)
The Kunny Island section im surprised that there are cutscenes. I was able to bribe both of them and i slipped out with no issue. Now i need to see what happens if i bribe the DJ and not Kunny herself.
No no. It's legit. The sister plot has happened to me. Twice. Super common in America.

41:48 back when the other postal games came out being controversial meant something else. Back then some percentage of people was very upset and said so, but that was it. If they were to make an actually controversial game today the whole world would come crashing down on the developers. They would be taken off Steam, maybe get an AO rating and lose most of their funding. The developers and their families would start receiving death threats and harassment. The times changed and a truly controversial game can't be released today.
Quit exaggerating, what happened back then still applies now, only a small percentage of people would give a crap, there are still controversial games made today with similar humor and guess what happened, the exact same thing that happened back then. If what you claim would happen is true then how about you provide an example of it happening?. Also quit acting like that's a unique belief because it's not even close to one, I see people say this all the time, you're just preaching to the choir
34:22 I played Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. The last chase level where one is being chased by the bad guy on a rolling machine and having to jump over pits drove me mad and half nuts. The last part, by habit, has one jump normally when it requires a different timing.

But for real, to casual players, this game may seem like garbage, but in reality, this is a glitch hunter's dream come true.
