    Then when they take a few days "off" from drinking .. Say Sunday & Wednesday. They are nice but question our hostility! I nvr know how my husband's going to be by the end of the day. Dealing w/an alcoholic is like dealing w/a person w/bi polar. It really messes w/my head & I'm @ the point of divorce bc he doesn't seem to care. His father died from heart attack and alcohol abuse also.

    This is the worst thing in the world. Nothing harder in life to deal with IMO. It can be so abusive. She hit it on the head. Guy is powerless. Cant react and always our fault. Toughest thing in life. Do you call police? Do you really want that involved? The anxiety it creates is extemely painful. Where does one go. What do you do with the kids watching it? I honestly cant believe alcohol was the legal drug out of all the drugs. We are so backwards. I get it. The world would burn down if it was taken away but my lord it causes more pain and anxiety than any other drug in a family . Sure there are worse that will kill you dead but this is slow death of the souls of all around the alcoholic. Including the alcoholic.

      Couldn’t agree more with this. Alcohol does so much damage, yet it’s legal, while cannabis is still largely criminalized and deemed “illegal and harmful”.

    I’m at the point that I just go to bed when the kids go to bed & hope my husband doesn’t come wake me up to yell at me in the middle of the night when he has been drinking. But what do you do about morning yelling? A lot of morning if my husband drank the night before he will yell at me before he leaves for work, about how he does everything for the family & I do nothing (that’s a nice way of putting it) which isn’t true, I am a stay at home mom currently & my house may not be sparkling clean with floors you could eat off but the house is clean just not to his standards I guess (his moms house is always perfect) but staying at home isn’t just about cleaning, we have 3 amazing kids & that I spend time teaching & playing with. I also have lots of hobbies I like to do during the day.
    It just seems like I’m not enough for him.
    Forgot to say by the time he gets home from work he doesn’t say anything about the yelling, he just goes on like it never happened (And here I am still replaying everything in my head) If I do bring it up it just starts another fight.

      I'm really sorry you've been going through this. I know how hard it could when someone you love doesn't appreciate your efforts. But I really think you should have a serious discussion about this with your husband and ask him to mind his drinking habits. Chances are that he'd be willing to work on it.
      If it still continues, be ready to leave. You and kids do not deserve that.

    My son unleashed a barrage of alchol anger on me about his childhood and my struggles as a single mother raising him. Although he has apologized, it changed the dynamics of our relationship because it really hurt me how disrespectful he was. I'm still trying to rationalize his right to his feelings 5 years afterwards. 😢

    • @jamesgraser4862
      @jamesgraser4862 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Maybe you need to validate your don’s anger AND stop only caring about yourself!! Your SON was the one who FELT Abused! Whether real ir in his head, HE BELIEVES IT! Address the issue, STOP being stubborn, OR DON’T - You already lost him

    • @ohreally1997
      @ohreally1997 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      First off, parenting is unbelievably difficult. Being a single mother requires even more sacrifice and is that much more difficult. No one gets it right 100% of the time and no one is given out awards for a job well done.
      That being said, something that sticks out is your use of "disrespectful." It's kind of a weird thing to get hung up on, if you had any kind of real relationship with your kid. Instead of being focused on what he was actually trying to communicate, you're focused (5 years later?) on HOW he said it? Or did you just not like what he said, as if him saying something you don't agree with is somehow disrespectful in itself?
      Whatever the scenario, if you're still hurting over it 5 years later, he probably is too.

      I was shite faced drunk a while ago with my mum and sister. I don't remember much of it but I was told I started crying and shouting and swaring at my mum about mu childhood. The thing is if someone has been hurting about something since there childhood 5 years is nothing so don't be angry with him because you have a say in the matter. For him to be upset about something that happened long ago he is more hurt than you

    Of course not every drunk is angry but some are. My alcoholic daughter calls her father and me every name in the book when she gets really drunk. She screams that she hates us and that we are the reason she drinks. She has told me she “really” hopes I “die soon”. She gets very angry and aggressive.
    She has hit me and pushed me down in the floor twice. One time, she tried to put me out of her house in 5 degree weather. I was visiting her at this time at a distance of seven hundred miles away from my home. It was very late at night. I was scared. So, don’t be so quick to say all drunks are mean Or that no drunks are mean. She definitely is! This is my only child. I’m afraid of her when she visits. She doesn’t believe she has a problem. It’s been twenty years of hell.

      I understand completely they don't understand how scary they are when they blackout & break things, & get aggressive it's scary because when they come at u u can't help but to throw up hands to protect yourself or push them away then it's even more scary because now mine will start saying I hit him every time even if my knee brushes his in passing & he's angry & blacked out he'll start saying I purposely kneed him & then get really crazy, break furniture, punch holes in walls, even come at me, It's downright a demonic takeover of their body by "spirits", there's a reason they call it that, the empty blackness in their eyes is truly frightening no matter what happens & how bad it is, they do it again, it's been 5 yrs of this for me I can't imagine it being my own daughter it's heartwrenching, my prayers are with you. 😢

It was my 1st time, we didn't know he was like that even his brother.. We were all up until dawn because he won't stop. I was scared but i was more scared with what the person will do to themselves. He was punching walls and threathened anyone who wants to disagree with him. I don't think I'll ever hang out with that person drunk or not. We couldn't leave him because we were in another city. Is this basically true for all addictions that might turn someone angry?

      Most of the time, but these tactics may not be as effective if you're dealing with someone who is having psychosis or is angry on a stimulant.

      for me personally my drugs of choice (alcohol and opioids) both make me extremely angry and very short with people.

    Use to be a happy funny drunk ion really drink no more because I get mean now and I think it's because of trauma I went through while drinking and it brings back flash backs or your just sick of certain things that are never said out loud till drunk

    Drunks are not angry and mean…… that’s a dangerous stereotype, an illness doesn’t define them, some are aggressive I understand, but some need to feel and process and learn about there emotions, with no cruel intentions. Allow them to be angry or hurt without blaming it on addiction…. Or you take away their validity as a human being. It’s not necessarily abusive…… they have a right to have a crap day too. Needed to say that. I’m not a troll, I just felt I wanted to put my opinion across xxxi understand some of your points for sure, but actually, most alcoholics really can’t be bothered with arguments, they’d rather be left alone when hitting the bottle x

      She is talking about an angry drunk. So yes she means the angry drunk. No they aren't all angry but there is a difference between a bad day or an angry drunk. What's dangerous is staying when it gets violent. This is awareness not stereotyping.

      Well my ah is angry when he drinks and that's every single day. So yeah it's more the norm bc alcohol over time does something bad to their brain, and it allows whatever anger they feel to come out more easily.
