    its funny how I went to the range yesterday and suddenly had strike issues. Everything 'felt' fine, but I was topping the ball, followed by hitting fat etc etc. Took a step back just to re-evaluate everything and noticed I was getting lazy with my grip (getting the shaft more into the palm). I fixed that, took a couple of practice swings and suddenly everything went back to normal. It is truly amazing how your grip can cause issues! Thanks for the reminder video!

    This was a huge factor in creating more consistent ball striking and accuracy. Eric identified my grip was not strong enough right from the start when other instructors did not. Thanks my man!

    Hi Eric. You produce the best golf videos I have ever seen. I recently tried the Hogan grip, which incorporated more of a palm grip. I immediately developed a push and lost distance. When I took your advice, the push went away and my distance returned. God bless you sir.

    I noticed a while ago how small tweaks in my left hand makes a difference in how I'm able to work on my left wrist condition. Now I'm just trying to actually get comfortable with it in the right spot, but it's amazing how even a small difference really alters my comfort level. I think I easily revert back if I don't really pay attention to it.

    Eric, would love to see another grip video of you exploring a larger grip, let's say a mid-sized and a plus 4, and then seeing if you get more power and control using a 10-finger baseball grip because more of the right hand is on the grip and the mid & plus 4 gives it more to hold on to. Last year at 50, and a lifetime of using an overlap grip on a Standard Grip size, I switched to a mid+4 grip and ten-finger and I'm longer and more accurate & handicap is now 4 - down from 10 (lot's of practice and learning from this channel)

      Generally the 10 finger is more for Kids and small hands. Shorter fingers like the interlocking grip, Nicklaus has shorter fingers, probably why he used it, see Jacks Golf instruction videos for him in his younger years showing his grip. Mid to large hands most likely use overlapping grip. Just the best explaination that I know of. For drills one can do a double overhand grip, really takes the right had out of it.

    I recently started making this change in my grip as well (funny how things I'm working on...you put out a video a few days later to match lol), but find the clubface at address often wants to be slightly closed (especially if I add my grip with the club in the air). Should I focus on placing the club on the ground in a square position before placing the grip into the fingers? Even when I do that, once I get that lead hand in the 'correct' position and I take my address, the clubface feels very easy to shut if I'm not careful.

    • @nodogno
      @nodogno 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the same issue when I use this grip and have to be careful because it's real easy to close the club face. I do hit the ball better with this grip though.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would hold the club up in front with your right hand
      ensure the face is square
      Place your left hand on and hold the club with right hand so the face does not twist
      This will get easier with time
      Also hands/shaft should be slightly forward at setup (hands inside left thigh) to off set this

    Be playing alot lately. For the most part driving both irons and driver again mostly down the middle. This past two hot day my ball was going hard left. I tried everything I could think of but my ball just want to go left. Not a curve left more like straight left. Anything I should be looking for correct this?

    • @rolandlaflamme2128
      @rolandlaflamme2128 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I notice when I get hot and sweaty, that I do palm more of the grip which causes me to go 'over the top' with my right shoulder. Make sure you do the grip as described here in this video and then take some practice swings making sure you tuck that right elbow and drop that right shoulder into position. Much easier with the correct grip. Also make sure you aren't leaning your upper body toward the target, should be a bit leaned back. (Upper body tilt that is, not the whole body)

      If straight left with no curve that sounds like a path issue
      Too far other the top
      I would first try swinging more from inside-out

      80 if they are doing our full practice routine like this
      ericcogornogolf.podia.com/eric-cogorno-s-ultimate-full-swing-range-practice
      If they are doing just mechanics we like to see 20-30 reps not less than 3x/week
      1-2 rehearsals then 1 hit each time.
      Confirm with video .

    Do you adjust grip to hit different shapes or let path/face determine that with the same grip you are describing? Same grip for all shapes in other words?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Chad!
      I would suggest never changing your grip. One grip for all shots.
      Adjust other setup/in swing variables when needed.
      You should hit ONE curve 99% of the time unless you are shooting around or under par already.....and even then.

      it's crazy that I am 40 years old, was a successful (within reason) junior, HS, and collegiate golfer, but my inconsistencies that have plagued my swing my entire life (including grip too much in the palm here) were NEVER addressed by teachers that Eric has been able to address in a matter of 2-3 videos (right side bend, wrist, grip).

      Hey Felix!
      Yes--Jordan's grip I have seen thousands of times in amateurs that cannot make that work.
      Big problem......they are not Jordan Speith
      Talent trumps all.
      Would you say Jim furyk does the backswing correct or incorrect?
      He makes it work. But 99% of golfers I have seen do the same thing can't.
      that's why he is the .001%
