    Finn and Poe....The Uber Bromance of the Star Wars Saga. At the end of the 3rd movie, Finn gonna walk out on Rey's cute/hot looks and join Poe as the two bros fly off in the sunset...BROS BEFORE HOES...May the Bromance be with you, always

      +paradyneT101 yeah if they are both jedi it be bad since they're not allowed to have relationships but if finn is a blaster character then there might be a chance to see what rey picks.

      +B. Stefan Did you see how many marks were on that wall she was using to keep track of how long she was there? I don't think Luke would ever abandon a kid with no one to look after them on a desert planet, especially considering his own past.

      +Linerunner99 Maybe he left her there with guardian(s) who died/got killed. Still doesn't make much sense that he wouldn't check up on her though. Surely Luke would check on her, and if she's Han's and/or Leia's, they also wouldn't be likely to leave her alone without someone to at least take care of her in her absence. But I can't imagine she's not part of the Skywalker and/or Solo family. Maybe they wanted to protect her identity for some reason.

      pretty sure ppl say phasma's cool cuz of the comics,
      she is said 2 appear in episode 8 as well, in this movie she got roughly 2 mins of screen time
      in the upcoming one she's gonna get at least 25 mins ,
      that might not be much but it's more screen time than boba fett in all 3 movies of the original trilogy combined .

    I'm just putting this out here since I haven't seen anyone state this explicitly yet. Did anyone notice how the entire scene of Kylo killing Han was staged to be like the one in Empire Strikes Back with Vader and Luke, while the point of the scene was to be completely opposite of the dynamic between Luke and Vader in ROTJ to show how dark Kylo really was?
    I mean, Luke refused to kill his father and turn to the dark side and so his father could embrace the light side again and save him and in turn redeems himself, since 'there was good in him'. But here Kylo WANTS to get rid of that little bit of 'light in him' which is still there and so he willingly does the exact opposite and kills his father to complete his turn to the dark side.
    That scene really shows how Kylo is the antithesis of Luke and was a brilliant move in my book. Kylo really was the most evil bastard he wanted to be, in that scene.
    Palpatine would be proud, were he around to see it! XD

      Brayden Aitkenhead Yep his character might be much deeper than we think. And as you said, he might be doing this on purpose to destroy the Sith from inside. Maybe that's what he meant when he said "I will finish what you started" and was referring to bringing balance to the force.

      +TdFlux The political relations between the Republic and the Resistance make no
      sense.
      How is Han back into smuggling? It would have made more sense for him to
      just retire. There is a free Republic out there and he was a general so
      how hard would it be for him to make a decent living there? I'm sure
      that Leia could have hooked him up with a good job.
      Or what's up with the Starkiller shield. The Millennium Falcon has
      easily gone through the shield by warping inside the shield bubble. Why
      didn't they do that with the entire squadron of X-wings?
      How can I care about Rey leaving Jakku if I have no idea what is she
      waiting there?
      The Starkiller laser is faster than light? If the Starkiller base was
      build in an unknown region of space (they say that in the books, I
      think) how was the laser that fast? Ever for a spaceship it would take a
      lot more time to reach the main republic planets than 10 seconds.

"Our son" And then when Han sees Kylo on the bridge he yells out "Ben!" and after they have a talk, Ren then takes off him mask, they stare at each other and after for a second we think Han will live, Kylo stabs him

    Rey has to be Han's daughter.
    1)Jedi are not allowed to love/who would Luke have a kid with, he never had a love interest in the movies.
    2)In Rey's flashback she saw the ship flying away and she was getting droped off, my theory is that Kylo is older than Rey and when Kylo went to the dark side and Leia said that she should have never sent him off, she and Han maybe left her on Jakku to stay away from all that stuff and just live normal life.
    3)Why did Han give Rey a wierd look when she says that she didnt know there was this much green in the galaxy. Its like he knows where shes been.
    4)Rey is just naturally good at flying and good with motor skills and such. How would she get that from Luke.
    Annnnnd it would also make the story more interesting if it was Bro vs Sis besides cousin v cousing amirite

    • @RookieN08
      @RookieN08 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Shane Wellar There is problem with your statement. When Rey got captured by Kylo Ren, it wasn't Han or Leia's idea to save Rey but Finn. Secondly, no one in the Resistance ever tried to find Rey but just Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. Why is that?
      The best part about the flashback is that it never mention that Rey was abandoned in Jakku. It just showed her being abandoned in a desert planet at 5 years old. What if Rey was abandoned in Luke's planet, Tatooine instead of Jakku? That could explain how Luke Skywalker found Rey and raised her like his daughter. That explains why his lightsaber calls Rey because Luke has given Rey his lightsaber when he decided to train Rey as a Jedi. That also explains how she is insanely powerful even without any training.

  • @O5gar
    @O5gar 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I have 3 problems with the movie, and yes, please answer like if you want to convert me or something because i really want to love this one.
    1- It was basically a remake of episode 4, almost frame by frame (obvious exageration).
    2- Yes, she was a badass, but... too much of a badass. Maybe Kylo didn't practice enough but neither did she, she never had use a lightsaber, it makes no sense. Neither her dominance of the Force, is she an Anakin? since the first movie we know it takes time with training and metitation, to understand and "use" the Force, but she was insta-Jedi knight??
    3- Han's death. It was predictable AF. Yeah, it's always tragic a betrayal of such proportions but, that's the only thing that makes it kind of "strong" and it's not even an original one.

    • @geromino97
      @geromino97 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it was similar too episode four but not the same and rey is most likely lukes daughter and she knows how to fight with her staff and that is not different from a light saber and its possible that luke made her forget any memories of her being trained and kylo did not beat her because he was wounded and everyone knew some character was going to die and everyone thought Han was so it was not going to be surprising no matter what they did with his death

    • @geromino97
      @geromino97 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh and dont forget that luke destroyed the death star with just a few hours training in the force soo...

    • @Rogue_Console
      @Rogue_Console 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      why do people keep brining up the Ren V Ray fight? Kylo Ren was shot in the stomach by chewbacca not to mention Ren just killed his own father, remember the mental state of someone seriously effects someones fighting abilities just look at Anakin Vs Obi Wans fight in episode 3.

    • @O5gar
      @O5gar 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with everything both say is speculation.
      Ray may or may not be Luke's daughter, but even if she was, she was left in Jakku when she was a little girl, that's not a lot of training, even less if it was "wiped" from her memory.
      Staff and saber fighting are not similar even in real life, and we don't actually saw any martial skill with it, but coventional hits. If so, then i'd say Finn had the upper hand, yet he almost died.
      And Luke communion with the Force is comparable with Ray and little Anakin flight skills, i have no problem with that, it's nowhere as near as to have certain dominance over Force *TECHNIQUES* (not dependant of intuition/reflexes), like the "Jedi mind trick" or "telekinesis", or at least not as powerful as Kylo's dominance of the Force.

    • @praxis5788
      @praxis5788 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Shabir Ali Also, remember that we see her beat up two thugs by herself early in the movie, and that was before she realized she was force-sensitive. She was probably always a better melee fighter than Fin, makes sense that she would fare better in a saber duel

      Vader is a behemoth of a villain who has killed hundreds of jedi, conquered countless planets, and has years upon years of Sith and Jedi training. Ontop of that, he has robotic limbs that exponentially increase his strength. Yes. Run.
      Kylo is half assed trained, and hasn't really killed anyone as a worthy adversary. His fresh baby skin face implies that he hasn't even really been put in any risky situations. He's a brat with a lightsaber. He cried when he saw his dad. Vader killed obi wan without even thinking about it.
      On top of that, he got his shit pushed in by chewy by a bow caster cannon.
      When he finally went toe to toe with Rey, he was tired, hurt, and worn out. He could have killed rey, but tried to seduce her instead, which was his tactical mistake.
      Nothing came out of the blue. Everything was introduced and shown in the movie to build up to that critical fight; the force sensitivity, Kylo's temper, Luke's lightsaber, Rey's fierceness, etc etc. It all fits. JJ "earned his turn" if you will.

      TheRoyal Marines There was a riddle among Samurai during their time in feudal Japan, a question aimed to test one's understanding of the Bushido, the way of the warrior, a code each Samurai (meaning "one who serve") had to follow.
      Which exemplified more the Bushido? The one who serve a good master or the one who serves an evil one?
      The answer is the one who serves an evil one, for Loyalty must come before one's own sense of morality.
      The case with Kylo Ren is similar. He has chosen a master, the Dark Side, impersonated by Supreme Leader Snoke. Everything blocking his way is a test of loyalty and devotion, even his own family.

    Did anyone notice the symbolism foreshadowing Han's death? When they walk on the bridge they're standing in the light and Ben is struggling. By the end of the conversion the sun had vanished leaving them in the dark with Ben's face glowing red from the lights. It rivals that shot in Return of the Jedi.

      Your way of doing it is just even way less likely to happen. Han knew he may die but he tried anyways and that death carries A LOT of meaning for Kylo Ren. Ren's whole development in this movie is that he is being tempted by the light side and is trying to be darker and more powerful. (Also Ford wanted to die so badly haha)

      The shot also harkens back to Leia's line "there's still light in him" when she referred to Ben Solo. I found it interesting that this was a callback to Luke and Padme's lines "there's still good in him" when referring to Anakin Skywalker but used light instead of good. This change in the familiar phrase, along with Po Dameron's line " as long as there's light we still have a chance", foreshadowed Kylo Ren's struggle with the light side. once the light disappeared when both Han and Kylo were on the bridge, there was no hope, light or redemption for Kylo.

I knew I wouldn't like Episode 9 after I saw the fan reaction to Last Jedi, I got about what I expected. But it was way worse than I expected. I mean, just immagine how much better it would have been if Hux was a spy for Palpatine, and Palpatine was getting the resistance to do his dirty work with Hux giving the resistance intel to defeat Kylo, but nothing about what's comming. I'll be clear, I don't like the destination they went to, but if I could change one thing that would be it.

      Why is Kylo Ren murderous, cruel and vindictive bastard even though he was raised by loving couple of famous and well-renowned war heroes and his uncle and mentor was a greatest hero galaxy knows? Why he doesn't look anything like either Han or Leia? Why he thinks his grandfather is evil even though his family would have told him the truth thousand time over?
      Why does Snoke has such a hold in Kylo Ren? When did they met? Why is Snoke more important to Kylo than his own father. What does Ren mean in Knight's of Ren and in Kylo's name?
      Why Coruscant isn't capital of New Republic even though all infrastructure, databases, communication networks and traderouts that make it capital has been situated there for 10 000 years? Have you any idea how costly it would be to make, say, Manchester UK's capital?
      How is Star Killer base built if building Death Stars was already a such a feat it almost bankcrupt entire systems and it's destruction heavy blow to galaxy spanning Empire.
      How is New Republic inactive if First Order kidnaps children and builds army. What is Resistance resisting? Who leads the New Republic? Why doesn't Galaxy react to Starkiller base and destruction it has caused and condemn First Order?
      How does First Order have more resources than Empire even though it doesn not control the Galaxy? Who designed Star Killer base?
      Who is Snoke? Where he came from? Is he human? How is he leading First Order. What is Kanji Club. Why did Han Solo abandon everything to become smuggler? How did Maz Kanata got Anakin's lightsaber?
      Why is Finn distraught by killing civilians but happily laughs while killing stormtroopers who were his comrades, people he knows. Why is Rey so powerful that she instantly knows mindtrick even though Anakin Skywalker, Chosen One, had to train 10 years and he still lost?
      There is so much that this film doesn't answer and this is merely tip of the iceberg...

    • @drakeafletcher
      @drakeafletcher 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Matias Luukkanen
      Who is Darth Vader?
      Why does he lead an entire army and navy?
      What does Darth Vader’s name mean?
      What is the capitol of the Empire?
      How did they build the Death Star?
      Where did the empire come from?
      Why do they have an army?
      How long have they been around?
      Who designed the Death Star?
      Who leads the empire? Is it this Grand Moff guy?
      Why doesn’t the galaxy react to the Death Stars destruction?
      What is Leia a princess of?
      These are all questions that A New Hope doesn’t answer either, because, like almost all of the questions you posed, the answers don’t really matter. The difference is that A New Hope has had 50 years of sequels, prequels, and tv shows to flesh out those questions. And if you want to get pedantic, books have answered a lot of your questions, but most people don’t read those so we can discount them.
      At the end of the day, I’m not defending the Sequel TRILOGY. It is DEEPLY flawed. All I’m saying is that this movie is a fun, self contained narrative that had a lot of potential for where it could go.

      +Corban-James Halliday Exactly that, what you wrote supports the theory. Vader was chill, emotionless and cruel. It didnt even raise his heartrate when he killed his officers for minor failures in cold blood. Ren however is a rookie, its more difficult for him to kill people for little reason and he also lacks the selfcontrol so he goes into raging fits and breaks terminals... All in all = Vader never let anyone see him lose his temper, and punished every failure brutaly, but calmly. Ren was unable to maintain an image of a cold distant executioner and raged alot, but also didnt kill that many people because he had some emotions left.

    People are trying so hard to be objective and coming up with reasons to hate the movie that are really irrelevant details that I didn't even notice let alone get annoyed by. Especially the lightsaber fight, like what the hell? It was more choreographed than the original trilogy and less flippy and fake than the prequels, it was honestly done perfectly. And the fact that people are mad that the villain is human instead of a lifeless cloak of darkness really makes me mad, just open your damn minds people, what you want is a totally dry cliche. Be happy that the writers are putting more thought into the characters this time.

    I just have two major concerns with the movie: For one, what the hell caused R2 to suddenly come back online at the end? Why was he offline "ever since Skywalker disappeared" in the first place? Surely people are capable of maintaining a droid.
    Secondly,I felt that the giant weapon at the end (I forget what it's called) basically just seemed to be the Death Star for the sake of replicating the Death Star. It really didn't make much sense to me at all. If the empire was defeated and the First Order is just the remnants, shouldn't they be weaker than they were in the original trilogy? If so, how they hell did they manage to build this massive weapon that's so many times bigger than the Death Star in the first place without the rebellion immediately eliminating the construction?
    Aside from those two issues, I absolutely LOVED this movie, and I absolutely love the Disney touch with the humor tied in with the suspense and action. It reminded me a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean in that the hilarity of the interactions between characters only makes the emotional scenes that much more shocking. That scene where Han Solo dies legitimately gave me goosebumps and even early on, when you're led to believe Poe was killed in the landing, I still felt a strong connection to this character purely just from the interactions between him and Finn and the possibility of his death was really upsetting even though I felt it was pretty obvious the rebellion's best pilot would not have died that easily.

      The point of the First Order was that they wanted to be greater than the Empire, so they built a better Death Star. Also, if you read After,agh, the new canon book, the size of the New Republic navy was severely reduced by the Senate, I believe. That's why it's not the New Republic fighting, it's the Resistance.

    Here's what I think about Rey beating Kylo Ren. Aside from the obvious fact that Kylo Ren was injured and out of practice:
    1. Rey has years of experience fighting with her stick, so while it's not the same thing, she knows how to fight with a melee weapon.
    2. It is established that she is strong in the Force, and probably stronger than Kylo Ren because he also lacked training, and because she's probably Luke's daughter.
    3. The thing that gives her the advantage though is the fact that to control the Force, *PATIENCE* is required. Kylo Ren has temper issues, because he's so desperate to prove that he can be better than Darth Vader; which makes him very impatient when things aren't going his way. Rey, though, has mastered patience throughout all those years she waited for her family, so she's much more calm, which makes it easier for her to be more in tune with the Force, even without proper training.

    • @metallic4888
      @metallic4888 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Some very good points. I feel like Kylo Ren was actually weak, because you could see how angry he became when something did not go his way. He would strike at everything with his light saber. And it was implied that he wanted to become more powerful than Darth Vader. He could have become impatient because he was so desperate to be more powerful than Vader. Overall I thought Ren was a great villain because he had emotion.

    • @1krani
      @1krani 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +50PSP Animation (Jimmy Reyes)
      1) Ren has training with the weapon he's using, Rey has literally never wielded a lightsaber before. Shoot, fucking _Fin_ had more experience with a lightsaber than she did.
      2) Strength in the Force does not equal lightsaber training. Anakin was stronger in the Force than any other Force user in Star Wars and he still lost more than one fight, _WITH_ his training in mind.
      3) Rey has zero training with the Force and every single time she uses it, it flies in the face of everything the movies have established and, more importantly, she never _earns_ her power. She just _receives_ it, like the god damn "chosen one" idea that the prequels themselves deconstructed.
      Fuck this movie, fuck J.J. Abrams, and fuck me for expecting something out of it.

    • @1981troyboy
      @1981troyboy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      +Ikrani you sound like a casual fan. you know nothing. you can clearly tell that she was at the school and had her mind wiped. so she has had training. we are also TOLD that Kylo still hasn't finished his training. he is just a kid with a bad temper being used for his power just like Han said to him. go rewatch the movie seems you fell asleep half way in

    • @nikib.7429
      @nikib.7429 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Ikrani What crack are you smoking?
      1. Rey may not have training with a lightsaber (that we know of) but it's shown very early on in the movie that she knows how to fight with a melee weapon. She bests those two thugs on Jakku like it isn't shit.
      2. Ren is not only wounded by Chewie AND Finn by the time Rey gets in the fight, but he's also overly emotional and frustrated which you can tell from how he's just crudely bashing on her with his lightsaber. He honestly looks tired and like a toddler who's upset they're not the special one anymore. He just wants the fight to be over, he's not actually sword(saber?) fighting.
      3. Rey may not have training (that we know of) in the Force but she's clearly a natural just like Luke was. Some people are just more Force tuned than others. I honestly think Rey is naturally stronger than Kylo. You can have a million years of training in the Force but it doesn't automatically make you stronger than people who are more Force tuned than you. Yoda has been studying the Force for 850+ years but Mace Windu was considered stronger than him in regard to using the Force powers. Yoda was just wiser and could tap into the Force's energy and feel things better than anyone else.
      4. As 50PSP said, Kylo hasn't faced against an enemy who uses the Force in a long time and it's clear the Force isn't as strong with him as it is with Rey. We see Kylo struggle to use his powers several times i.e. when he's calling Luke's lightsaber, when he tries to mind read Po and Rey, etc. You can actually see Kylo straining his body to use the Force because he's desperate to match up to Anakin which I don't think he's ever going to reach that level. You need discipline, patience, and faith to grow in strength and while Kylo seems faithful in the darkside, I don't think he's very patient. He wants to be that badass right NOW and he's clearly not done training.

    • @anessone
      @anessone 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not just that but Rey in the beginning was completely defensive and running away. Also Ren wasnt trying to kill her unlike Finn, his mission (and personal desire) was for her to join the dark side. He was pulling a less skilled and more injured Vader moment.

    I am going to run down why the final duel works so well and what so many naysayers absolutely fail to realize. Kylo Ren is not a proper Sith Lord, he's a Sith Lord in training and hasn't properly mastered his full abilities yet plus he's bleeding from a wound and is filled with rage and reckless emotion the same way Luke was filled with emotion when he fought Vader in Empire which then led to Luke losing badly. Kylo Ren is not in a proper state by that point which contrasts heavily with Rey who starts out afraid and running for her life to then a level head who's calm and brave enough to face Kylo and defend herself. Rey is not a proper Jedi but she kept a level head and didn't let fear or aggression get in her way of defense and offense which is exactly what happened with Kylo Ren's character. The film pretty much shows you this and apparently that whole thing went over people's heads.

For me on the OT, they're just films that have good and bad things in them and they are legendary but they are just films with special effects and some great characters. The OT is not the Bible, it's just a film franchise that has a fanbase and this fanbase has kind of grown into something very scary and uncomfortable that I don't really want to be apart of anymore.

    Here's the deal. Rey is Luke's daughter. It's the only thing that makes any sense. How could she be a Solo? Leia and Han would of known her. She's been to that island before because Kylo Ren read her mind about the "ocean" and an "island". Plus the developers or whatever of the movie said it's going to be revolved around the Skywalker family. I think she was trained before in the same Jedi temple Kylo Ren was in (then when she fought Kylo her training was coming back to her). Then Luke wiped her mind so she wouldn't have to be worried all the time and dropped her off on Jakku (as we saw her in the visions being dropped off as a little kid then the ship flew away) to protect her from the Knights of Ren or Kylo Ren. I also think he shut off R2D2, actually I take that back I KNOW he shut off R2 because in the visions we saw it showed Luke putting his hand on R2 then R2s light turned from green to red (or off) and I believe he made R2 not turn on until he sensed Rey come around or sense her force (which when she came around R2 turned on) Also Maz was telling her that the lightsaber calls to her (which was also Lukes, and Anakins lightsaber, which it would only make sense if it passed down to her if she was a skywalker too) and the force. Then to top it off which pretty much almost proves it, when she picked the lightsaber up out of the snow with the force it started playing Luke's theme song. The only other thing that it could be is Rey just has some random parents ( which it can't be either because these movie's are suppose to be revolved around the Skywalker family) AND Rey is like super strong with the force, so is Luke, Plus the way Luke looked at her at the end was kind of like a "I haven't seen you in a really long time" look. Just my 2 cents.

      +shnoopy doopy Luke Skywalker dropped his 5 years old daughter to a shitty planet filled with thugs without finding her a proper parents while he HIMSELF is hiding in a beautiful planet. What a brilliant father is. What is even better is that Luke Skywalker just erased Rey's memory cuz....???? I dunno so that Rey becomes more vulnerable to the First Order cuz everyone knows Rey is Luke's daughter but she doesn't know that. The First Order and Resistance army only cared about finding Luke Skywalker. Why is Luke's daughter completely left out if she even existed? Rey having flashbacks with Luke's lightsaber does not mean that she is Luke's daughter. I mean did you see Luke having any flashbacks when he first hold Anakin's lightsaber in The New Hope? It was Rey's destiny to be a Jedi and there is only person who can be her master, Luke Skywalker. The Force and Maz guided Rey to find Luke Skywalker. Luke's theme was played randomly in the movie. It was also played when Finn was about to fight the stormtrooper with the Luke's lightsaber.

    • @shnoopydoopy6707
      @shnoopydoopy6707 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      RookieN08 Erased her memory so she didn't have to remember all the bad crap that happened and so she wouldn't have to think about Luke all the time, it might sound like a little stretch but Istill think it's very possible he wiped her mind. I mean then explain why Kylo Ren could see an ocean and an island in her mind, it's obviously referring to where Luke is, also why did he shut off R2 and then Rey comes around he turns back on? Also why did she kick Kylo Rens ass? Idk I believe she was trained by Luke (her father when she was very young) and that's why she beat kylo. I'm sure someone else could explain this theory a lot better than I can but I still almost feel it's a given that she's Luke's daughter.

    • @AMisfit
      @AMisfit 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Look, fact is we only know of Plagueis because Palpatine mentions him to Anakin. We don't hear of him anywhere else other than the movie. I don't know about you but it kinda tickled my curiosity to know more about him as I'm sure it did to others. I'm pretty sure that was the intention.
      Furthermore, there is no way of verifying his death at the hands of Palpatine other than taking Palpatine's own word for it.
      Little problem there however, Palpatine was an extremely powerful Sith Lord, a master of manipulation and an expert at twisting the truth.
      So, now that the Jedi with the exception of Luke and maybe Lea are no more, both Vader and Palpatine (Palpatine having already fulfilled his part) are dead, it would be the perfect time to take hold of his "New Order" as he had planed from the get go and strike at a severely weakened Resistance therefore gaining total and complete VICTORY.
      Makes perfect sense to me :)

    Seen it 3 times and loved it more each time. Adam Driver is my favorite part of the film. For me, the movie really hits another gear emotionally once he removes his mask for the first time. At that point, he's humanized and you can really settle into this next trilogy being about him and Rey. I think there are 2 lines that lay that out:
    Leia (in ref to Kylo) - "Bring our son home."
    Snoke (in ref to Rey) - "Bring her to me".
    That sets the course of the trilogy right there. I've seen people complain about Kylo being a disappointing villain. To that I say, Kylo isn't the villain. He's the character in distress that needs to be saved. They give you 2 scenes that really present that:
    The scene where he's earnestly praying to Vader's helmet for guidance, and the scene where he tells Han, "I'm being torn apart. I want this pain to go away." Kylo feels hurt, rejected, insecure, bitter, angry, and inferior. Remember, in the OT, first Leia needed to be saved (New Hope)... then Han (Empire/Jedi)... then Vader (Jedi). At the end of TFA, everyone is safe... except Kylo. He's the only Skywalker family member still "in the wind" so to speak.
    That said, Snoke is the main villain. Like Vader in RTOJ, Kylo really isn't a villain at all. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they introduce another villain in the next installment. Another saber wielder, who's in Snokes good graces.
    The attempt at Kylo's salvation is a story I'm looking forward to seeing. I've seen people argue that Kylo has made the final decision to the dark side in TFA, and that he's too far gone. Let's remember that Anakin did arguably worse by killing a room full of "younglins" and murdering his best friend before he ultimately turned back to the light.
    We can assume Leia most certainly still wants her son to be brought home, and I don't see Luke being quick to go out and kill his own nephew. Also, i just don't think our storytellers here will really let a Skywalker relative go without being redeemed. Also let us not forget that the 2nd film is were we always get the big twist/reveal. It's still coming! Super excited to see the Rian Johnson take!

    Really enjoyed the movie! Just got back from watching, there are a lot of amazing scenes and shots. The humor is well integrated and doesn't feel forced.
    However, there is ONE really, really big issue that I had with the movie from start to finish. So the opening scene with the village is Finn's first mission and only as he watches one of his fellow brothers die, just shot, he decides to quit. So obviously he has a dislike for killing and feels sympathy for the other Stormtroopers, I mean, he was one of them afterall, he knows what they went through. So for the rest of the movie he and the rest of the cast go on a murderous rampage against Stormtroopers - without Finn doing so much as batting an eye. There was so much potential there for a character that is against the killing but nope, just freed this Resistance Pilot I've never met before and gonna go ahead and shoot up an entire hangar of my brothers/sisters...

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +DerLoladin It is indeed an awesome idea, he would become a conflicted character instead of a comedy relieve. But that would clash with Kylo Ren character (and many others), there would be too many characters with emotional issues, the movie would become too "heavy", you know? No fun allowed.
      I think that the bloody hand in the mask is something alluding to the overall idea of slaughter. The First Order is ruthless in this movie, you can teel. If their leaders are not menacing, at least the destruction they bring is convincing (unlike the originals who had great leaders, but the army was weak). The Stormtrooper don't have this relationship of brothers/sisters, after all these non-cloned troopers are trained from birth to become cannon folders. Finn is a really nice character on his own right, the marketing of the movie completely fooled us to think that he would be this deep and heroic character.

    • @DerLoladin
      @DerLoladin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rafael Teles
      Most of the characters in the movie have a very smooth prorgession, a bit obvious at times, but smooth. Not so with Finn, he goes from being Stormtrooper to "I hate war" to "Yeah lets fuck em up!" in a matter how minutes - wait, what?!
      It just felt so disconnecting from the movie. Finn is still a great character who is very well acted, i just felt the script could have been...more.

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DerLoladin I think the intention was to make Finn instant likable, you know... Somehow similar to Han Solo in the classic trilogy. The character does nice and relatable things all the time, its easy to connect him with the audience. He shooting those weapons like a over excited kid is somehow, I believe, the same reaction that most persons would have in his shoes. He is totally made to make us feel relatable to him.
      The marketing lures us to believe that Finn would ended up being the "Luke" of this new saga. Poe would be obviously the new Solo and Rey was a mystery either way, a scavenger is far to be a princess (she is the best character by far). In the end, the guy with the lightsaber, the most highlighted character on the trailers ended up being the comedy relieve. This was genius in my opinion. The script is somehow weak, like you said, even if the movies strictly describes the character as a coward, he could ended up being more developed. But I think his final purpose to be super relatable was done successfully.

    • @DerLoladin
      @DerLoladin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rafael Teles
      I'm curios as to where they intend to go with the characters in the following movies. While I still think that Finn was the weakest part of the movie, because he got shafted by the script, I'm curios as to where he will go and how he will develop over the next 2 movies.
      Still, while he was the "comedy part" (at times more funny at others less), it fitted nicely. The character I'm most intruiged by is definitly Ray, very well played, amazing scenes, amazing dialogue...all in all a great character.
      I swear to god, if they killed Captain Phasma though...

      DerLoladin I think JJ Abrams made a double joke with that garbage compactor reference. True, but.... it is. I mean, droid with secret information has to traverse a desert planet to keep it away from the evil group lead by the sith in a voice-modulating mask. Droid runs into an orphan who is more powerful with the force than he/she knows and they escape with a new, slightly dishonest ally aboard the millennium falcon. Falcon gets pulled in by a tractor beam, fast forward, force-user encounters his/her father's lightsaber (presumably), fast forward, bad guys blow up planet(s) with their big ball weapon, fast forward, main characters travel to the good guys' base of operations on a forresty planet and go over the blueprints of the big ball weapon, a plan involving blowing up some sort of exhaust port or something is formed and the X-wings go out to attack. While the female protagonist is being tortured for the information the droid has, the sith guy feels a presence he's not felt since-- The old guy confronts the sith guy because they have history and he gets killed in full

    • @marvelfanatic12
      @marvelfanatic12 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      view of the young heroes (who scream and make their presence known to the stormtroopers). After the good guys' best pilot makes a trench run and blows up the thingy, he and the remaining X-wings and the falcon high-tail it out of their as the big ball weapon explodes behind them. Oh and a bad guy refuses to evacuate the big ball weapon in their moment of triumph even though someone brings up a good point that they'll probably die.

    I would give the movie 8.5/10. I loved the characters and the humor, as well as the action sequences. The light saber fights were, although different, very cool. And my favorite character was Kylo Ren because he was so ruthless and angry, yet immature and vulnerable at the same time. Rey was a nice surprise for her to be a Jedi. She fits it pretty well.

    • @therealryry777
      @therealryry777 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only thing I didn't like was Han Solo's death. Mostly because it was really obvious due to the fact that I knew he was Kylo's father half way through the movie, and it was too predictable. It was foreshadowed too much and didn't hit as hard. Still a good scene though

    • @MichaelMcCallister097
      @MichaelMcCallister097 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ryan Duncan How does you knowing that Kylo Ren is Hans son make his death predictable? And even if you did know it was still a really well written, tense, and extremely atmospheric scene. Just because I know that Darth Vader is Luke's father, it doesn't detract from the ending of empire strikes back.

    How if Luke had a kid he didn't know about? LIke his obsession with reforming the Jedi drove a wedge between him and his girlfriend. She goes and has a kid but doesn't tell him. She hides the kid on Jakku because Luke's enemies are after her but she can never go back for the kid because Snoke and Co. kill her. A little convoluted, but makes sense.
    The way Rey talks about Jedi and Skywalker, "I thought he was a myth," might be from stories her mother told her when she was little before she was abandoned. Her mother intended her to meet her father at some point and was telling Rey stories of her father, but she never got a chance because Snoke was trying to sniff out Luke's weaknesses and kill Luke's former flame.

She also knew the moment when her husband, Han, died at the hand of their son. So therefore, Leia is Force-sensitive and has a sort of insight similar in the way yhat her brother, Luke and her father (Anakin / Vader) had.

      +SilentTree 7=3? Thats awful! TFA was so much better than Hayden Christensens "From my point of view the jedi are evil"

      +ivanthelovehammer why do people shit on return of the jedi so much? i'll never understand it. Is it because of the ewoks? The final scenes between Luke, Vader and the Emperor are probably the most important scenes in the SW's universe.

      Totally agree. Already seen it 4 times and this feels like a film I will enjoy for years and years to come! Can't wait to own it on DVD and stick it on every now and then and just enjoy it ! Just like I do with the OT

    It being 2024 as I am watching this review, im very upset that your expectations were let down by The 2 movies that followed. I can tell you were genuinely excited as I was my brotha. They did us as an audience injustice to the franchise 😡

    Who else thinks Daisy Ridley stole the movie? Seriously, Rey is like this generation's Han, Luke and Leia all in one character.

    • @OneEyedKingg
      @OneEyedKingg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      not really. shes just a bad ass for the sake of feminism. I dont mind but its obvious. Fin has the humor and poe has the charisma and charm.

    • @leo50perez
      @leo50perez 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think Oscar Isaac/poe dameron is the Han, Adam driver/kylo ren is the Darth Vader and daisy ridley is Luke and Leia. John boyega/Finn will hopefully be the lando.

    my spoiler free comment is this:
    The Force Awakens is A New Hope just jumbled up and scrambled up a bit.
    Now Spoilers Follows:
    STAR WARS.... ohh STAR WARS... Wonderful Star Wars...
    Please do not read until u see Star Wars A FORCE AWAKENS. I loved the movie, but I am going to nit pick it a bit...
    Now My spoilers:
    A New Hope Force Awakens
    Storm Troopers check Slightly different Storm Troopers, check.
    Main Sith Villain in black Main Sith Villain in black.
    Cute Robot lost in the Desert Cute Robot lost in the Desert, check
    Robot somehow finds main hero Main Heroine finds cute robot, check
    Desert planet in the beginning Desert Planet at the beginning, check.
    Falcon is used to escape the Desert Planet Falcon used to escape desert planet, check
    Falcon under attack by Storm Troopers when first used Storm troopers were attacking them when they first got to the Falcon, check
    Rebels at a Jungle Planet Insurgents/Republic/Resistance at a jungle planet, check (was kind of confused on what to call them)
    Death Star Star killer a planet that destroys planets and suns, check.
    Death Star shoots ONE time and kills a planet Star killer fires successfully once.
    Main hero is force sensitive The main heroine is force sensitive.
    Main Hero needs an older experienced guide to the Death Star Same thing but its Han now.
    Heroes use the force to trick Storm troopers Heroine with no training in the force, does it too - check.
    Vader and Empire troops have a hologram emperor to talk to The bad guys talk to their bad guy over holograms.
    The rebels throw a few fighters together to destroy the Death Star SAME THING (But only X-WINGS, did JJ lose the rights to the Y-Wings, A wings, B wings, or new ships)?
    The good guys can not escape the Death Star until an old war hero dies Han replaces Obi wan, now - check.
    After seeing Obi Wan die they escape the death star on the falcon a few scene later, pfft.
    The Rebels have to attack a single point on the death star to win same thing, a bit larger - but what ever
    A single rebel fighter eventually destroys the Death Star Once an opening happens, a single x-wing destroys the Star killer.
    Awards Ceremony XXXXXX ok.. it did not end the same way.
    Why was the Republic called Insurgents/Republic/Resistance at different parts of the movie... confused me. The Movie never explained. I can theorize but... yeah... the MOVIE did not explain.
    So, if the Starkiller planet destroyer used up a sun.. how did it get another sun to use up for the second shot... SCIENCE! The Laser blasts were traveling to another system or the same system..? How can a laser/beam weapon move to so many solar systems in such a short amount of time and still be within eye sight of the heroes?
    Nitpicking but basically this was Star Wars A New Hope as told to 2015 audience called Force Awakens the MOVIE by JJ.
