my favorite moment was after kylo beat Finn and was trying to get the lightsaber but it went to Rey. When I saw that scene I thought it was going to be luke
One good thing I will say bout the prequels, is that they had good world building. For example, all those "boring" senate scenes? First time we actually saw the politics of the Star Wars galaxy. I liked that.
+drksideofthewal What I personally liked about the prequels more than this new movie is the soundtrack. There wasn't any epic "Duel of the fates", "Across the stars" or "March at the Temple/Execute Order 66". Most new themes either used samples from the original soundtrack or felt very bland and generic.
+drksideofthewal Those senate meetings were stupid. Oh no the dark lord and the droid army can't invade a planet without the queen of the planet they were invading to give permission to do so
+drksideofthewal the problem is the editing. the movies let the actors rhythms dictate the cuts instead of the cuts dictating the actors rhythms. lucas made those movies rushed and sloppy because he wanted to make money, not to tell more Star Wars universe stories. you can practically see him writing this nonsensical shit after reading hamlet and thinking he was shakespeare. "being around her is intoxicating" NO ONE FUCKING TALKS LIKE THAT
I personally believe that the cast in the prequel were great. The dialogue Lucas had for them was just awkward and unworkable. Now I await to be crucified for my opinion.
+DynamicDurge You actually say something something positive about the Prequels? What is wrong with you, don't you know that the PT is completely terrible, nothing redeeming, rapes childhoods and anyone who has anything positive tp say about them much less enjoy them isn't a real Star Wars fans like the REAL fans who hates the Prequels, Expanded Universe, Special Editions, ROTJ, Clone Wars, George Lucas, and other fans.
I have just finished watching original, prequel and sequel trilogy… force awakens is ok, slightly above average at best… but 8 and 9 make the prequels look like Citizen Kane. So many plotholes, so much bad writing..
yeah me too thought it was racial issue though i never seen it but read a lot good reviews for it and they all praise rey and fin like they're gonna get together at the end but since we live in a world full of internet trolls that would never happen especially in blockbuster series like star wars
Ketorulz just looked into it there was a minor controversy about a black protagonist when the first trailer was revealed also fantastic 4 also had controversy about having a black guy play Human Torch/Johnny Storm so obviously they would've raised a shit storm if they had a mixed race couple in this movie
I loved the movie a lot! but there are a few gripes I have about it. Spoilers Below! The story of SW VII mirrored SW IV way to closely. A droid crashes on a desert planet, a soon to be jedi finds said droid, shit happens....blah blah blah you get the point. Another point is that they revealed Kylo Ren's identity way to early, I think they should have waited until the bridge scene. And my last point, I was hyped for Captain Phasma being the next Boba Fett but she literally did nothing!
I didnt like how Rey somehow knew how to master the force in under a day, incase the writers forgot, jedi are trained ever since they are little kids and it takes years of study to master and control the force, Rey figuring out the force in a day without any training or guideance from anyone was total bullshit
+EmptyShaftProductions You do have a point but I'm assuming that since Rey looks like she's been drinking all these jedi adventures since she was young, it looks like she's just trying what the stories were talking about. She could have a strong power with the force and it could've been a fluke, it really depends.. Plus, it's not uncommon for the force to suddenly teach someone things.. Luke used the force with very little training in order to pass through a super narrow hole in the death star in order to destroy it.. I don't see your point here saying Rey is op, even Luke knew very little and from the story and the plot, Luke is most likely Rei's dad, which means she inherited the force of Vader and Luke, who were both very strong with the force.
+Grandpa Trinity Luke only uses the force in one instance in New Hope. He uses the force to feel out the exact perfect moment he should fire his missiles instead of relying on the targeting computer. Luke develops veey slowly in comparison to Rey and the force itself is more subtle in the OT. Honestly, Ren should have been unbeatable after that stunt he pulls 5 minutes into the movie.
They did build up a gigantic intimidation to Ren, he was really nice and it was a villain with no face and a strong power.. They just decided that instead of making darth vader 2.0 they wanted someone more emotionnal and more torn.. Although I'd had rather not seen his face.. He looks like a wimp xD
*SPOILER* They make the third Death Star and the good guys go to destroy it. But it was a trap and the fourth Death Star kills them all in the first ten minutes. The next two hours is a gif of jar jar dancing.
*I sense a disturbance in the force...* You know what's funny? People sh*t on the prequels now, but when Ep 1 first came out, Star Wars fans actually liked it. Go back and watch interviews of people who had just seen it in 1999 if you don't believe me. It was the CRITICS that disliked it from the start, and the hate for it spread to the fans over time like wildfires. Now I think the exact opposite is happening. When Ep 7 first came out, the CRITICS were raving about it, but as more and more fans got to see it, their opinions seem to be a little different. I think over time, more people will notice how flawed this movie truly is, and they might actual miss Lucas and everything he brought to the previous 6. Mark my words, *begun, the fan wars, has...*
Really, the only crime I see this movie committing is relying too heavily on nostalgia. I think they'll get a lot better about making an original story in the next movies though.
Marky Baloogah Huh? I think you misread my comment. I said critics hated ep 1 from the start, but the fans liked it at first. That changed over time to where they both hated it. Now, it's the critics that love it from the start, but more and more fans are voicing their concerns over it. So I think over time, once again both critics and fans will see it's flaws.
+The Anakin Kylo Renn was shot by Chewbacca which certainly helped Rey and Finn. Not to mention Rey is a skilled fighter already and obviously has the force. And Renn is not a Sith yet.
Nah, I liked three just fine for the most part. Obi-Wan carried the second and third movies for me. Anakin sucked, but I actually liked the intrigue of Palpatine's plot to destroy the republic with the power of democracy. It's genius.
My biggest problem with Ep 7 is it felt like we missed an entire trilogy right before it. Rey beating even an injured Kylo Ren doesn't seem right. Didn't that guy fucking massacre Luke's temple and (possibly) defeat him. Anyway.....I left this movie really pissed off.
+Joe Cannabyte Luke's temple was dismantled after he went into exile because his nephew turned to the dark side and he thought it was his fault. Rey didn't kill the whole temple, and even if he did, it would've been as easy for him as it was for vader. Plus Ren has flaws, he's not an invincible sith lord. He didn't ever get in a real light saber fight, he turned to the dark side and is completely tore apart from his decisions, he killed his father, he's injured, he is trained for "technical" fights and not "actual" fights, see, even in the medieval fights, tons of people who were thought to be "strong" ended up dying because they weren't trained to fight someone who actually meant to kill them and wasn't just practicing. Add to that how unstable the fucker is and how wide and open every hit he does is, he obviously never fought anyone. Yes, his powers are strong but he wasn't trained to fight another jedi since they're all gone except luke who is missing for 30 years. Instead of a villain that can fuck everyone super easily, we have a villain that will become strong at the same time as the protagonist, I think it's interesting.
+Grandpa Trinity Kylo Ren massacred every Jedi in-training in the Temple. It showed you in the flash back with the Knights of Ren (which I hope to see more of).
+GamehubExpress i think they've set up a new bunch of characters to make more original moves. But (SPOILERS) they literally had a death star that was five times larger that blew up FIVE planets. So much was identical to old movies that it was a little grating.
yah it was a lot like a new hope which is a good thing but maybe Disney wanted to take the theme from A new hope so they didn't screw star wars up. But still a great movie
+Lucky Egg yeah jakku is the new tatooine , han solo and kylo is like anakin & obi wan , luke is the new yoda and rey is the new luke, generl phasma is the new boba fett
There were some similar aspects, but I definitely wouldn't say it is A New Hope 2. It has its own style and even those similar parts are done differently enough (most, that it didn't even come to my mind in the cinema.
+Lucky Egg A lot of the plot points where similar, but the characters and motivations behind them were very different which made it work and feel fresh.
I liked the movie until they decided to shit on lightsaber combat which apparently requires no practice to master . Who gives a damn about 7 forms if lightsaber combat when you can force feel your way into learning it . . That is not how it works damn it .
Luke had to practice lightsaber in original movies too .Go watch the movie yourself because Vader easily beat him in V with lighsaber . By VI Luke was much more proficient . He didn't learn it on the go
+streetdzine I like the prequels too, but I recognize the weaknesses. The acting was bad from most of the actors. I understand why people find the talking scenes boring, although I enjoy them. Jar Jar is pretty annoying even to me. CGI could have been less used. Apart from these flaws, the overall story was amazing and epic, the visuals were stunning, the music from John Williams was better than anything he's ever done, the lightsaber fights were incredible, and in general the movies created a grand universe full of life, planets and creatures, much more than the originals did.
+VperVendetta1992 Unfortunately, the shitty acting and the overuse of CGI overshadowed all of the good points. The films felt far too superficial and unconvincing.
Let me point out all of Kylo Ren's flaws to prove that he IS indeed a good villain and that his defeat was justified. 1. He tries to give off this intimidation like Vader because he is the only force-user in the galaxy (apart from Luke and Snoke). Basically, he's just bluffing, which leads to my next point... 2. He is out of practice. From what we learn about his past, he killed a lot of Jedi a long time ago, we don't know how long. It probably has been a long time since he fought someone saber-to-saber. Also, we know from Supreme Leader Snoke that his Dark-side training isn't complete, and neither is his Light-side training with Luke. I believe he will become a much larger threat after his training is complete. 3. He is afraid of Rey, not at all because of her skills with a weapon, but with her abundant force-potential. It's clear Rey is demonstrating a uniquely strong bond with the force. He hasn't encountered a force-user in a while as well, as is proven by the interrogation scene and he tries to curb his fear by asking her to join him. 4. All of his actions have been subject to some reluctance or even doubt based on his calls back to the light. He's doing his best to squander his doubt by embracing his grandfather yet cutting all other ties (Solo included). But killing Solo results in Kylo getting... 5. Shot in the stomach with a Bowcaster. But he stumbles on to fight Finn, whom he cuts up quickly even in his current state, and comes out of it with a stabbed shoulder. That being said, I'm also saying this to prove to you that he is a 'growing' villain, and will hopefully have his time.
+Alex Tekle In fact, I'm pretty sure the guys he killed weren't trained that much neither and weren't full fledged jedis, add to that that Ren probably backstabbed most of them and had a few guys to back him up, there's no way he's as trained as Vader was with the countless battles he had as skywalker and as vader..
+Grandpa Trinity I definitely got the impression that he had backup when he was killing Luke's other apprentices. In Rey's vision (after she first touches the saber) there's the scene where Luke is touching R2, then Ren's saber 'cuts' Rey and we hear screams. It then cuts to the long shot of Ren surrounded by several other figures dressed in black. My assumption is that those are either other students who turned along with him (whom he later killed) or (and this is more likely) they were members of the First Order (like Phasma) who he recruited to help him kill the other Jedi apprentices.
Ark Lyte It is not stated that Ren is the only sith, so these guys were most likely other apprentices, probably not related to him and together they killed what was left of luke's students. I'm pretty sure this was kinda like Vader's turn to the dark side, untrained kids that he slaughtered.
Grandpa Trinity True, it's not explicitly stated anywhere. I'm hoping that we'll get more detail in Ep VIII...in the meantime all we have is speculation...which is still tons of fun. :D Regardless, I'm definitely a fan of Ren. He is a badass villain but at the same time a really troubled kid who was seduced by true evil yet manages to retain a spark of light...well, until that whole stabbing his Dad thing. I just love the dichotomy, and I really hope Abrams explores that a lot more in the next episode. :)
+liam gunnip Yeah that line though: "Oh hesa not the dark lord of the Sith. Mesa the dark lord of the Sith! Mesa Darth Jar Jar, and yousa in big doodoo this time!"
kjarpr0 What about that moment at the end when Supreme Leader Snoke turns off the hologram, and then the camera switches to the location that he's projecting it from and it reveals that he's actually an Ewok?
+Skitt_Meister She is the equivalent of Boba Fett (sorta) in that she fills his spot. Boba Fett wasn't really an amazing character either, he had like 1 line or smth in the entire old trilogy.
+annihalited she doesnt, lol. boba was cool in 5th where he DID stuff that's important. imperial henchman-merc that is clearly better then all the others we saw before (standing on the bridge of the Star Destoyer). he got han, everyone before him failed including THE EMPIRE. in 6ep he was wasted, lol. but the point is - we saw none of that coolness from Phasma. If she would ALONE capture Chewie, Han, Rey and Finn, where the others failed (just like bobafett), shit, that could have made her like superbadass. but in ep7 she's wasted and does not fill need for bobafett
I totally agree with the whole resistance thing. I mean, what are they resisting. They took down the Empire and now the Republic rules the Galaxy so like, why the crap is the first order assuming power like you can't just do that. Not even the lore explains it
It has since been explained, when the First Order formed the Modern Republic didn't consider it a true threat and ignored it. Leia then convinced the Chancellor to form a smaller branch tasked with handling the First Order called the Resistance. In Star Wars 7 they reference the actual Republic fleet because it exists but its not based in the outer-rim where the resistance and first order are which is why the resistance decide to hastily fight the first order with their smaller force.
The new order is the remnants of the Empire who escaped Republic space, they came together and rebuilt in the outer-rim. The Republic doesn't care about things outside the republic space. In the Mandalorian war the republic allowed the Mandalorians to freely attack outer-rim planets with no intention of defending them. it wasn't until they attacked republic controlled worlds they joined the war. The same applies here, the republic is neglecting the first order threat so leia forms a smaller division called the resistance to monitor and eventually counter-act the first order in case they strike against the republic. Infact in the movie towards the end someone even says the real republic fleet can't reach them in time.
The problem here is that this tibit of info is only available in a companion book and not even mentioned in the movie. If they had a throwaway like explaining even a little bit of what's up with the current state of the new Republic then I would have like this movie more.
tired of people calling this bad. even if it is a rehash of a new hope, or if there is plot holes, a BAD movie is a movie like fantastic 4. aint no fucking way this is a bad movie.
+Matthew Brack I'm one of the people who didn't like the movie much but it was by no means bad (though imo it certainly wasn't good either). Anyone giving it a 1 or something either wants attention or is mad. Like you said, fantastic 4 is a bad movie, this wasn't even close to a movie like that
Kick Sumo You clearly have no idea how The Force works, it will balance itself out. Ben can clearly feel he is getting weaker that why there is fear within him.
The masses seem to agree. Don't understand why people want EDGE from an innocent little saga like Star Wars, that stuff belongs in the Terminator, or Alien.
+ChaoticPaper Yeah but if he gets that close then Boba can just set him on fire or shoot him as Rico comes at him. And if he can escape the Sarlacc pit then he could easily escape a couple of tethers
Ren feels so different to the other villains of Star Wars. He's an over emotional, "daddy didn't hug me enough" tantrum prone, confused young man desperate for approval. Blames everything on his parents, and idolizes a false impression of Vader _(he may not even know of Vader's redemption before his death)_. Snoke must see easy prey when he looks at Ren; grooming him like a pedaphile. A child dressed as an adult with the powers of a God...and daddy issues.
thewopstop You're talking about Anakin, not Vader. By the time Darth Vader is the central villain, he's pretty much a grown man emotionally. Ren, already the villain, has no control over those emotions. Stamps his feet when he doesn't get his own way, and smashes up his bedroom when angry. I feel the parallel between the two characters is certainly not a mistake however _(although Ren feels far more unstable to me, not having the full Jedi training Anakin had)_. They both had high expectations placed upon them. Akakin being "the chosen one", and Ren being the grandson to the mighty Darth Vader, nephew to the great Luke Skywalker, and son to the heroic Han Solo. How could anyone live up to that? The kid's deck was stacked before he even started. But now, Ren appears to have even less control over his emotions. He has no Obi Wan to keep him in line. The tantrums we see in TFA were fantastic. He was like a moody teenager.
+Sir Huss I look at it like the younger generation being the primary drivers of this revolution are doing it mostly because they're... young. Kind of like why neo-nazis didn't start popping up in Europe by the generation who actually fought in the war, rather their rebellious children.
SPOILERS: Yeah, you can see in the movie that he believes that destroying the republic is what he truly wants. He gets teary eyed when he looks at the Starkiller beam heading towards the system Corusant is in.
+SirClark Yeah I think Driver revealing his face kinda killed some of his badassness in my opinion. At the beginning of the movie he came off as a badass demonstrative villain.
+Nick Fletcher. Agreed. But to me a Sith Lord should be a total badass. Like I stated in the beginning of the movie, he ordered the troops to kill all those innocent people. And he killed that older gentleman with one strike from his lightsaber. That was some demonstrative stuff you must admit.
Just watched it now. Am I the only one that felt this was just a mash up of the first 6 movies? Angry "Vader" character and a general report to some baddie. Desert planet where a Jedi is found. Reluctant co-hero. Rebels attack a "death star..." 1 ship flies in and destroys the "death star" solo...
I've enjoyed everything in the movie but the only thing I was *really* dissapointed with was the story. I expected something new, something more complex than this simple original triology story. Also, I feel like there is some character development missing.
+Imperator Terrae I enjoyed the film overall. However the thing that bugs me is how its almost a exact re-hash of episode 4. And I mean almost identical.
+Arrahant Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers (I hope that was enough spoilers to hide this next paragraph) I mean both Episode 4 and 7 start with a sith and his stormtroopers looking for a droid. That droid is carrying information that the rebels need. That droid runs into some harmless kid who then feels the need to leave their home and help the droid get to the ressistence. They come to realize they are special and join the ressistance. Then, they realize the empire has a super weapon and they have to destroy it before that super weapon destroys the rebel's home planet. A mentor character is slain by a sith (obi wan and han). In the end the ressistence destroys the super weapon. And that was all i could think of. I'm sure there were even more similarities! I know the writers were afraid of having another tradgedy, so they stuck to the source material, but man. Its almost identical. 90/100.
+Imperator Terrae What? The movie is similar to the original Star Wars but it's not the exact same, and this is what we asked for, Lucas made the prequels very different from the originals and nobody liked them, making this movie similar to Episode 4 was the right choice to do, now that they conquered the fans hearth back, they can take chances with the next two movie. And if you think that there was no character development, they you don't understand jack shit about characters...
yes, because battlefront is a crap shoot of a shooter that's all style and no substance, and the force awakens is a legitimately good movie that breathes new life into the franchise.
I can't believe Joe thinks this was a good movie. It was better than the prequels but nowhere near the quality of the originals. Probably my biggest gripe is with Rey. She's an ultimate Mary Sue. By the end of the film she has mastered the force and rivals Luke's level in return of the Jedi. This is without any time, training, or effort on her part. In order for Luke to master the force he needed training from Obi-Won, Yoda, time between films, and even lost a hand from prematurely confronting Vader in Empire Strikes Back. He didn't even wield a lightsaber in combat until the second movie too. What has Rey lost to gain her powers? Absolutely nothing. She's also a great pilot, a great shot despite never using a blaster and not knowing about the safety, an excellent swordsman, speaks droid, can communicate with Chewy, has repair skills, and seems to know as much or even more than Han Solo about the Millennium Fulcan. The message I see her character giving to girls is that you don't need to work for anything as it all comes without effort. Contrast this with Finn who has been trained in the art of combat since birth. He can't pilot anything. He complains that the gun controls on the Tie Fighter are too complex, can't win in light saber battles, complains constantly that he's not ready, loses against a storm trooper and Kilo Ren, is criticized for wanting to run away multiple times in the film and yet no one criticizes Rey when she does the exact same thing after touching she touches Luke's light saber. He is basically a white knight in the film. Anyway I hate her character because she's a terrible female lead. Think back to the badass female leads in other movies. Ripley from Alien, Sarah Conner from Terminator, Cersei Lannister/Aria from Game of Thrones, etc. You can have a good female lead. In the case of Rey she is basically a Disney Princess but worse because I can even think of princesses in the disney world that actually had to work for it. I think Rey is what ruined this film for me because it just looks like it's meant to be a feminist/social justice warrior propaganda film.
+Cali the Calico "she has mastered the force and rivals Luke's level in return of the Jedi" ??? She didn't??? Kylo Ren is an apprentice too. She already had a knowledge with weapons as seen in the part she uses a staff.
+Skillertare Kilo Ren had some training from Luke before turning to the dark side. In addition to building his own light saber he's had a good amount of time to learn his abilities. Rey in a matter of days masters how to move objects and manipulate weak minded people with the force. She's even strong enough to resist Rilo Ken's mind attack and she defeats Rilo in a light saber duel without any training. In Empire Strikes Back a good amount of time has past and Luke is barely able to move shit with his mind and also is defeated in his first light saber duel. He doesn't even start using the force to influence people until the third movie. Rey with zero instruction has accomplished what took Luke three movies to achieve.
@@godarmy4918 it is, but i think it treated the og crew pretty bad, especially Han Solo, he had a well developed character on the OT and force awakens erases all of that. I can't believe people that shout Han shot first saying the edit ruined the character and then praised the force awakens exist.
+LeGarsToutJaune sorry to tell you that it won't happen :) The movie is awesome. Absolutely awesome. And the sad little fucking lowlife-nerds who want to talk it down are gonna change NOTHING about that fact :D
My god these butthurt fanboys are in serious denial lol. They just can't admit they were bamboozled. Them nostalgia glasses must be a mile think lol. Fuck I'm gonna take a shit and stamp star wars on it and I guarantee someone will eat it and say that's the best turd they've ever tasted lmfao!
+The Violater 260 Or maybe people just enjoyed the movie? Im far from a rabid fanboi of the original trilogy. Hell, both the orignal and prequel trilogies share a lot of the same flaws as each other, regardless of what either side says. And i still enjoyed the movie as a simple, escapist movie. I didnt go in expecting godfather II, i went in expecting an enjoyable movie, and thats what i got.
Only had two gripes really with the movie. The story being too close to A New Hope didn't really bother me. It was still awesome. Gripe the first: the movie was paced all wrong. It felt good in the beginning, like it was going to take it's time and really flesh out the story, but as it went along, I found that plot points were just whipping past almost faster than I could catch them. Gripe the second: I'm middle-of-the-road on Kylo Ren. I thought he was a great villain- until he removed his mask. Then I thought "Who is this fucking weeb, and what has he done with Kylo Ren?"
To clarify: it seemed he removed his mask when things got emotional, and kept it on when he was more cold and distant. Whenever he had his mask off, he almost seemed like he couldn't decide whether to overact or under act, so he just said "fuck it," and went with both, switching between them about every 4 seconds.
+Jeronimo Torres Yes, but he didn't act conflicted. He acted like he doesn't know how to act. His voice would shake where it made no sense, he started randomly crying at some point, it was just horrible. Watch it closely, and pay attention to his face. He obviously can't act with emotional nuance. He's either happy or sad, angry or calm, there was no gradient to it. When the mask was on, at least his voice was more steady, he's a much better body-actor. If he had just kept the mask on, it would have been much more convincing.
+Emperor of Fail I thought that Kylo was best after removing his mask and showing his weakness. Instead of a second Vader that will never be better than the first we get a sith in training trying to live up to the dark lord he idolizes while still being dangerous in his own right.
+Meta I wanted to watch "The Force Awakens," not "The Puberty Awakens." He was a weeb. There's a difference between sympathetic weakness and outright weakness. Also, kid just didn't do well in the role. Almost made me miss Anakin a la Ep. II
8:40 "Do you see the fu**ing difference, George??" Haha I do indeed see the difference :D You didn't see it coming back then, but now everyone does: this trilogy was sadly absolute bullshit.
In other words; this movie was good, because it was not a Prequel. If you wanna know why I know Joe is blinded by his fanboyism, just go watch his Destiny review and how he hated the unexplained nonsense and plot holes (which is what this movie is full of). This is what our society has come to. Nostalgia over fresh ideas and creativity. For a Star Wars movie to be good, it has to be exactly like the OT borrowing designs and plot and worlds. That sure is a sad narrow view. OT characters were treated like shit. Han regresses, Luke runs away from a young padawan that can't even beat a girl with no seemingly no force skills, and Leia is just same place as she originally was. Oh and btw there was a lot of CGI. It was just better tech. If you watch making of, the removed practical effects and CGI'd. It annoys me a little too that because of the prequel hate, we're gonna be limited to a bunch of boring planets that feel like sets instead of cool worlds shown in the prequel and the same old good v evil simple story instead of giving you a grand sense of a huge bustling galaxy. "worldbuilding?" What world building, this movie had like the same planets as the OT renamed even Yavin 4 and never explained anything about anything. The characters just go from point a to b....Listening to Joe, you know he hasn't really toned down from the nostalgia hype
+Raiden “Jack The Ripper” Lightning Bolt The plot was secondary to the characters. Every part of the film is trying to ease us back into proper Star Wars and establish some new characters that we're comfortable with. The 3 from the originals can't keep going forever.
*spoilers* . . . . . . I liked Hux and Kylo a lot because they actually seem like they're tools that Snoke uses to achieve their goals. General giving speech actually fits the scene because it shows how he's not good enough to lead the New Order, which is shortly confirmed once he flees the scene. As for Kylo, he is even better because a "tough" guy is cliche, and the fact that his mask is useless because he doesn't need it, makes him even weirder.
+Adam K I dono why, But when Kylo ren takes his mask off, i just can't take him seriously.. His face looks just like the kind of person you would cast to play the small kid that gets picked on at school... and i just can't take that face serious as a threat or villain.. also the way he acts when having the mask off, just feels like he's an arrogant child who thinks he's soo much better than anyone else. To me he just comes off as a Childish brat and not like an all powerful sith lord (or a knight of ren in this case) Tho when the mask is on he looks incredibly badass :D
To me he was the best charecter in the film loved who he jus looked unstable all the time .....but the ending fight with rey totally killed his character with me now WTF did they do......Noooooooooooooooooooooo
I felt like Kylo Ren was one of the weakest points in the movie. I have no problem with a conflicted villain but he was such a loser. Looks like an Indian phone salesman or something.
+Mario luis Bonoan That's because there is no Emperor. The Galactic Republic was re-instated, and the First Order is simply an attempted resurrection of the Galactic Empire.
+Mario luis Bonoan yeah, by people in the first order, but since no one else sees him as that, all the crucial dialogue regarding him was just like: "snooooooooookee"
Rey - “You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.” Stormtrooper - “I’ll remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open” Rey - "You will drop your gun!" Stormtrooper - "Annd I'll drop my gun" This had me laughing xD
I liked the part where the storm troopers where walking down the corridor and then they heard Ren screaming and were just like, "Nope, fuck that" then turned around and casually walked away...
Kylo Ren is a joke. He's beaten by a girl who had never harnessed the Force before nor picked up a lightsaber before. Pathetic. Kylo Ren was not intimidating in the least. And that HAIR... apparently turning to the dark side also means turning away all barbers as well.
He was alright , he got beaten by the girl because he was blasted by a laser , and that usually kills anyone . He was tough and was controlling his bleeding too . Besides his emotional state and finn lucky strike didn't help either . His mission was to recruit The new Jedi , bu t his unexperienced ass , underestimated her skills .
+crzymn246 She knew how to fight with that stick she had, nothing too different from a lightsaber. Plus she was a STRONG Force sensitive, not an experienced Force sensitive, but a REALLY STRONG one.
+Royal agree, GB actors are sometimes more sophisticated somehow and give very interesting characters (and live more with their "tonation") but in this case, John Boyega wasn't really good (too hyper active, almost hysterical ..too often,..besides didn't buy off his "im now best budies with Poe", wasnt credible. even if due to the rushed script a bit..... , didnt feel a real building up "romance" with Rey either... but he did have 1-2 good comedy moments). while Adam Driver was way more interesting to watch "acting" ..and more subtle
+Royal While Rey stood out for me I thought Finn was perfectly average and I don't get all the hype about him. Ford is All American and was stellar as Solo :)
+Rai TheNoblesse Woh dude. Boyega was hands down, the best actor in this movie. His acting is fantastic and his chemistry with the other actors, Rey and Poe in particular was phenomenal. Not to mention he tremendous charisma when delivering his charming lines. He was my favorite character and definitely one of the best actors in this.
*SPOILERS****** Didn't Captain Phasma die? I mean, did I miss something? The last we saw of her, she was held up at gunpoint, and Han and Finn were talking about tossing her into the trash compactor room. On top of that, the planet kind of fucking exploded. How is she going to factor into the next movies?
Let me get it straight... *SPOILERS* So, the Rebels win this battle and destroy Starkiller base, only because Captain Phasma, which supposed to be extremely loyal, tough, badass First Order officer - cowards out and betrays everything she lived for, disabling the base shields ? Am I missing something ? Is it me or this is very stupid ?
+Kaizerg Why wouldn't she "betray everything she lived for"? She is one of the bad guys, she might not be a Force sensitive, but has more things in common with the Dark Side than the Light. Remain "strong" and be extremely loyal risking her own life, getting nothing in return? That sounds like something that a good guy would do, not a bad guy, not someone that has more things in common with the Dark Side. Bad guys are selfish, so are the Siths (as Palpatine explained Anakin), she was selfish, Han Solo had her with a gun on her head.
Joe, people complaining about racial and gender actors are not "privilieged." Your frickin' girlfriend has infected your mind with buzzwords you're using incorrectly. Also, why are you singling out "white guys" saying "come on, there's been enough white guys right?" Isn't a good actor a good actor because of the work they put into the role? Why the hell does it matter if that actor was white or not? What honestly would be the difference if the black lead was a white lead with the exact same skill in pulling off the lead? Is it somehow a better movie because of the skin color or genitals of the actor? Of course it's not. You had no reason to go there Joe, your review was going really well and then you had to shove in PC/Nearly SJW nonsense. And for what? To look like you actually care? *sigh* Honestly, SJWism is the new racism. So concerned with "diversity" that all they see is skin color and not talent.
+NorthernDragon Yup, I'm with you there. I found it a little bit over the top as well when he started off on that tangient. To be fair though, I thought that the entire hero cast was good. Finn was great. But I saw the German dub version - which is completely ridiculous btw, because I went to a huge cinema and asked for the original version, but they didn't have it. So I had to watch the German version, and obviously some of the acting will get lost through the dubbing process. Still, I liked the heroes, and Kylo Ren.
Tubatitan12 "If you look around the internet there are tons of people (who happen to be white males) going insane that a black man was a lead in star wars not to mention that a girl was taking center stage." Really? That's never happened before. Well I guess Joe bringing it to everyone's attention is a good thing then because, again, it's never happened before. Before Star Wars EP.7 released, the internet was a place of racial and gender equality. Thanks Joe.
Tubatitan12 "So because it's already out there he should just pretend it doesn't actually happen?" Does bringing it up in a movie review tell a person interested in said review what is good or bad about the movie? Nope. Just tells everyone that there are assholes in the world, which everyone already knows. Plus, he made it a point to specifically say "privileged", a feminist buzzword that A) Is being improperly used even by feminist standards and B) Is actually the wrong word. The word he's looking for is at best bigoted but in actuality is just assholes. But I digress. Nothing that he said belongs in a REVIEW of a movie. Saying there are assholes out there tells us nothing about the movie itself. "So just to clarify he should just ignore his feelings about it on his channel, during his review, about something that he enjoyed about the film which he is reviewing." Enjoying a diverse cast is one thing, focusing on it because of assholes and then making the implication that a diverse cast somehow improves the film, which it doesn't because acting talent is race and gender neutral, is a different matter altogether. Joe inserted PC/SJW nonsense into a film review where it didn't need to be, he specifically had to focus on this idea that the little girl now had a character to identify with as though she couldn't identify with male characters or white characters. It is the subtle subliminal implant of a message that says "you can't identify with anyone who isn't your race or gender." That's the problem.
+NorthernDragon I can't be the only one who cringed when Joe was getting hyped about minorities having a big role. Outside of Lando, whom he mentioned, did he forget about Mace Windu? I mean, this is only the second in command of the jedi order, the strongest jedi after Yoda, and someone that kicked Palpatine's but, and had a prominent role in the prequel films. This is a low point in an otherwise great review (from what I can tell, I'll be seeing it on Monday).
+Dapper Disrespectful Well funnily enough J.J.Abrahms named Captain Phasma after one of his favourite movies, which happens to be 'Phantasm' it's also why she has the silver armour, as a nod to the silver death balls in Phantasm. So Joe was unintentionally closer than you'd think =P
The Original Trilogy had two advantages over The Force Awakens: 1: It was completely new, so it could keep the story simple. 2: It didn't have to reconcile (or clean up) the Phantom Trilogy's story (or lack of thereof).
John Doe Tough being honest...what i hoped was that or atleast, that the movie while being far form masterpiece, at least is good enough to avoid the problem of the prequels
lsebastian9086 That in itself is quite the achievement. If you can watch it without ever thinking about anything that happened in That Which Shall Not Be Named, then it's a win.
+Levi Lyons Revenge is super yes, but Ep 1 and 2 are full of extremely bad dialogue and very bad acting by Hayden, not to mention that they have immense plot holes.
Yeah, I think people are too hard on revenge of the sith just because it's in the prequels. If it was released with the original trilogy, I honestly think people would be more forgiving of its flaws, but no. It's under the umbrella term of 'the prequels' so it's automatically awful now. Honestly, revenge of the sith is my favourite star wars film to just sit down and watch. Not saying it's technically the best (that would be empire clearly) but I find it really fun to watch personally.
+RhoadsAlive don't blame Hayden lol he portrayed anakin how Lucas wanted. I thought he was a great character you could see the hate and resentment of the Jedi in him
+Nuclear Cherry Exactly. The same with the resistance fighters. One of my favourite things about the new movie: The goons and minions actually matter. Every blaster bolt sounds powerful and meaningful, and for the first time we learn that Stormtroopers are people too.
AngryJoe: the First Order isn't as powerful as the Empire. The ruling government of the Galaxy is The New Republic. The First Order is made of the remnants of the Empire, and the best analog to them that we have in our real world is north korea. They're the galactic north korea. The only faction that takes proactive action against them without fear is the Resistance. Why? Because the New Republic are pussies that don't wish to "complicate matters". The most that the New Republic helps the Resistance with is "providing support" as the title crawl said. And we all know how bureaucratically lame that "support" is.
+Moist Von Lipwig North Korea is fucking weak. The only thing they have going for them is suicidal million man army and a couple nukes. They wouldn't win against South Korea, let alone the rest. NK is in no way comparable to what they've done to First Order.
Considering who snoke most likley is, the first order are way more powerful. (All signs point to him being palpatines master, the one who cheated death).
I compare them to north korea, because what would north korea do if they ever get their hands on a superweapon? Probably blow up washington, paris, london, tokyo, and berlin. Which is what the first order did in this movie. No wasted "show of force" shots on Alderaan. The first firing of this weapon took out the galactic senate. and probably the rest of the republic fleet. As for how the managed to build it under the radar. the north korea analogy is apt. nobody knows for sure what's going on within their borders right now with 100% certainty. The first order weapon took the resistance by surprise, only once it started absorbing a sun for the second time, did they know to put their sensors on it and see how much time they have before it fires again.
And Luke wasn't? Whininess aside of course. I mean, come on going from complete ametuer with a blade to out-performing a master of form V in only a couple of years, if that.
+ShadowQuickpaw Luke took years over the course of 3 films to git gud. Sure he was gifted but he struggled and failed plenty... Where as Rey.. For example Han and Finn went to rescue her, but by the time they got there she definitely didn't need it because God forbid she be vulnerable for 10mins and someone actually gets the better of her.
Absolute ace pilot from the get go, handy mechanic, has a few days training with Yoda what it took his father at least a decade, and has only two real slip-ups that I can recall off the top of my head, both in Empire: the Wampa and his initial encounter with Vader. Rey gets freaked out and captured in her first movie, and most of her non-Force skills can be explained by her background as a hardened scavenger.
So this movie: -Copy-Paste plot ( just watch epIV ) -Dull Characters (Mary sue, Dumb-but-good, Surprise-not-dead-butwhothehellareyoureally, Emo Daddy-issues kid and oh Goldmine) -Did I say Mary Sue? Because...REALLY. -The "we have the powerful woman, the black guy and the teen drama, we're so progressive! Who cares if we can't even write the personality of a teaspoon to save our lives" kind of logic. -"We can't write the good characters, you actually expect us to write the evil ones?" -It's not the Falcon, everything is still the same, not even 1 new tech in 30 years... -ups I forgot The BIGGER THE BETTER Death Star! -R.I.P Coruscant, your death was worth a total of 30 secs -"If Nazi and USSR had a child... voilá the First Order, we're so smart" -But wait...Didn't they defeat the Empire? -NOPE, still here wreaking shit like always (ok the old alien guy and the emo kids are new... aren't you happy?), everything was MEANINGLESS. Loved it. Couldn't stop laughing.
Oh but BB8 is great! To whoever made it: good job and thank you! Your little droid has more personality than any other character in this movie. And it's so cute
Coruscant wasn't destroyed, the new republic was located on the hosnian system, that just proves that you didn't even pay attention and jumped on the miniscule hate wagon
+R&RWILLLIVE How the hell are we suppose to know that it wasn't coruscaunt it looks exactly like it this movie doesn't explain what the hell is happening in this time period.
I'm sorry Joe. I had to stop watching after you said J.J. Abrams saved Star Wars. With all seriousness, he killed the franchise with this movie. The man has no real respect for the franchises he touches. He killed Star Wars, just like he killed Star Trek. Star Wars was the last hold out, and the bad writers and agenda pushers found its hiding spot and killed it. I had four big science fiction/fantasy franchises that I loved, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Stargate, and Star Wars, and over the course of six years, all of those franchises were destroyed by horrible writers and politically correct agenda pushers.
I understand how the female lead was OP as hell, but that's more because they wanted to have the main character be the "prodigy-chosen-one" that is really attune with the force. For the whole political correctness, I feel like you're making something out of nothing just because the main male lead was black. They made no big deal whatsoever of him being black.
James Smith Jumping to conclusions. I don't care about Finn being black. Yes Rey was OP, to the point of perfection. She had no flaws. She was boring as hell. It was a perfect example of, "the woman needs no help from a man" thing. There should always be a flaw, always. A hero/heroine with zero flaws, makes for a bad character. If the hero has no flaws, then there is nothing to cover come, but well, the enemy, though since the hero has no flaws and is perfect, we know said hero will succeed. She had no real trouble in her first lightsaber battle. It took her all of one try to force persuade a stormtrooper. Even though she had very limited experience as a pilot, she flew perfectly thorough the wrecked star-destroyer. The only flaw maybe, is that she gets scared, like what happened with the vision from when she found the lightsaber. But that is the stupidest most basic flaw there is, which isn't a serious enough flaw at all. It would have been so much better if she wasn't glaring poster for, this woman is better than all the men, that today's misguided feminists like to push. If equality is the goal, then show said woman being on an equal level, not a flawless wonder that can do no wrong.
Sonic Doctor So, what if it was the exact same everything except Rey was male? The fact you even have this train of thought because she's female proves everything that the feminists you're bitching about are right. Keep in mind we are just introduced to these characters, we still have 2 more movies.
+ManBitch Revenge is ass. The only thing interesting in that movie is Palpatine. I don't care if it has the best story out of all of the Star Wars movies. The execution of the story was terrible.
Spoilers ahead!!!! I personally hope that both Fin and Rey become Jedi in the next movies. I think having the 2 apprentice jedi could be a dynamic that sets this trilogy apart from the original. Because while I liked how Rey found her connection to the force, I had also been pulling for Fin hoping he would feel the force as well. So I hope for both of them. However if Rey is the Jedi we get and not Fin I wont complain, her character is fan-fucking-tastic!
***** No.... No he didn't. IF he died they would have shown it and made an actual scene out of it. The fact that they picked up his body and put it on the falcon AND the fact that Rey's last words to him were "we'll see each other again." (or something like that). Thats all the proof I need to know he is still alive.
The movie isn't that bad watch it next time but go deeper into the story once you get there you would see that it's not that bad and sets up for a amazing sequel ( this movie does have some flaws just wanted to point that out but not many flaws)
+Scott Saucerman It has nothing but flaws---- What?? There is so much good stuff in this movie. The Acting, Cgi, direction, script, score, editing, practical effects, production design, really good handling of certain characters like Han solo. I'm happy to be blind and naive as long as I'm not as cynical as you. I'm also glad that I can enjoy a movie by itself instead of comparing it to previous entries into the franchise. Whats your favourite Star Wars film btw I would love to know.
+Caleb Canagasingham Abrams clearly never saw any of the Star Wars movies. He used Anakin's lightsaber as a major plot device yet it was clearly destroyed in the Empire Strikes Back. None of the characters are likeable or relatable. They changed everything that was good. The lead female had a British accent. There was a dude with a Scottish accent. The black guy said he was a clone and yet the only black guy and they quit cloning 35 years before that. He was raised since birth to be a solider and yet refused to kill and was horrible in combat. He had no problem killing men that were stormtroopers but villagers oh no. The "first order" had a "general" that looked 20 and clearly sucked. Kylo Ren was extremely weak and downright laughable. Definitely not a Sith not even a padawan. Saying things that conflict with the Star Wars universe. Tie fighters aren't that big nor powerful and they definitely don't have hyperspace capability hence the reason they were able to be mass produced. The X-wings definitely did not have proton torpedoes that was the whole reason they had Y-wings and called them fighters because X-wings were dog fighters not bombers. If the rebels won then why the fuck are they called the " resistance"??? Wtf happened to Commander Thrawn? The best Imperial commander in the empire??? How the little remaining remnant of the Empire possibly afford to build something 1000 times bigger than the death star when the death star nearly bankrupted the Empire in it's PRIME??? How could some alien have Anakin's lightsaber when it was destroyed??? How could blowing up targeting station destroy an entire planet??? How do you have a massive sun on your planet without completely destroying it and how is it a frozen planet when it's a battle station???All the rebels had was 2 dozen x-wings and the empire had a star destroyer and the huge behemoth of a death star. How tf could you win??? Plus Kylo's lightsaber is useless and weak and doesn't make sense. There wasn't even an actual lightsaber fight. Wtf about Han's other kid or Luke's kids huh??? They changed everything bro. I give it a half of a star because I can't go any lower.
Jedi Masters learn the force over many, many years. Rey learns it in many, many, hours. Rey has to be the most powerful Jedi whom ever lived? Think about Rey learning the Force over many years, yet at the rate that was given to us in this movie...
+skullcrusher701 No my friend, they needed shit to jam in the trailer, because god forbid a star wars movie without a saber dual! Rey has 0 fucking training, and she was able to contend with Kylo ren who has spent his life training, and is one of the few siths alive, and by most standards he is pretty fucking good. She was able to beat his arse. So she would have to be stronger then fucking anikin when he first started! And the second any one aware of the force went anywhere near that lil bastard their barometer went off the charts, which means the energy emanating from her would be impossible to miss, and everyone would be going nuts over her, but, no one even really noticed her as that extraordinary, So, We can thank horrible writing
Took anakin and Luke 3 movies.. Rey learns it and becomes a god damn master in 10 minutes.. Complete bullshit. Kylo sucked too. Almost got beat by a janitor
Sorry, the prequels were not a disaster. People don't like them because of the Senate?! Seriously??! How lazy can you be??? That was a brillant, clever plot about using democracy to undo democracy. That was great. Palpatine was a great villan. And Jedi Council was inspiring. The new movie it's just shit. Nothing new. A lazy remake of new hope, 40 years later. Congratulations
+otto agosto The prequels were not a financial disaster, but they clearly demonstrated that George Lucas needs people like Irvin Kershner to make George look good. It's a well known fact that George is an excellent technical director, but a terrible people director.
You're starting to become like IGN, Joe. "OMG THIS WAS THE GREATEST MOVIE IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD I MEAN THE ORIGINALS WERE A LITTLE BETTER BUT OMG IT WAS AMAZING AS F" - 8/10.
Joe is giving an honest rating without discouraging anyone from seeing the film. You can totally love a film from a fan perspective but shred it from a critics point of view. There is no shortage of one dimensional personalities on TH-cam.
+CaliberStone He was decent, but i didn't like how they did not establish him as a threat. He lost to Rey who had never used a lightsaber before! Come on!
+Suika Ibuki I have a feeling that he has been purposely held back from his full potential to build his fear of not being good enough. A few hints lead me to this; Him telling Rea that thinking of Han Solo as a father will only lead to being thought of as a disappointment, and Rea telling him that he is scared that he isn't as powerful as Vader. Not only that but Snoke near the end said "it is time to finish Kylo's training" so I believe that Snoke purposely held him back and pitted him against that red head guy (cant remember his name) to give him the sense that he is not yet worthy enough to take it all on his own.
+Jake Singer my parents saw it who had never seen star-wars before, they both loved it despite the fact that they both actively have said that they hate fantasy and sci-phi
That is one of the dumbest arguments I have ever heard, you just showed your inability to form your own opinion and that you are a sheep, basically showing that you are a close minded conformist. I don't care if millions of ppl enjoy watching a turd sizzle in the sun, it would still be shit.
I think it sucked. It was basically Episode IV. Droid lands on desert planet, finds random Jedi living a poor life, jedi meets old man, old man takes them to Rebel base, you have a reluctant hero, (SPOILERS FROM HERE ON) there turns out to be a superweapon, they have to go in and shoot something ON THE SURFACE of the station, old man dies, bad guy who turns out to maybe be good gets away, you have the true overlord evil villain in the background, and everything else. Also, there were some just stupid parts, like how R2D2 just randomly comes to life, or how Fin, who was seen disobeying orders, is told to escort the prisoner ALONE! What the hell?! Or how the empire builds a 3rd God damn space station, and it gets blown up because it has shit security. Completely stupid. The funny parts were alright, but so,stoked it just seemed forced and odd. Also, why does Rey magically become an awesome Jedi, despite NEVER being trained, never knowing she had powers previously. It was just not good
+Johann Schmidt Yeah. The script wasn't very good, and there were too many plot points recycled from the old movies. Also, they seriously went with another Death Star plot, and another "I Am Your Father" plot twist. Just let that sink in. This movie is riding on nostalgia, not creativity. Maybe in the next episode they can destroy Death Star 4.0 after a droid delivers them the battle plans detailing a major exploitable weakness. I'm sure that would be very exciting to watch.....again.
+Johann Schmidt "you have the true overlord evil villain in the background" I agree with everything except this part.. The Supreme Ruler could have been Sidious. He could have survived the fall down the shaft of the death star somehow (explains the huge gash) and that's why everyone obeys him because he is the last remnant of the Empire.
+The Catalyst Monotony of the Rock Hard Memers You could be onto something there...... or alternatively Snoke could be Darth Jar Jars apprentice after the power in the empire vanished and he needed to find some other way other than palpatine and vader
This movie was ultra bullshit. Same planets different names , same characters different names, same settings ! Same death star same dogfights. Kylo ren actor like from high school musical...this movie was worst dissapointment ever. Im sorry if you cant see it its obvious as fuck. I like epizode one better then this shit !! Lightsabers in fucking random cellar...millenium falcon was found by han solo in is five minutes ?!! WTF and this shit goes on and on thru out the whole movie.
+tezeskop I feel you bro, i was thinking that the whole movie. And damn Rey has to be the strongest jedi ever, she didnt need training or shit to learn how to use the force or a lightsaber (sigh).
Yeah no but sorry we've seen convenience in the originals as well. Kylo ren is a baby of Harrison ford, I'm positive he'd be granted with great genes, douche. Lightsaber was in the cellar because it was planned cmon man it's not that hard to see. R2D2 was not in low power mode if he was he would've died by the end of the movie. Luke planned this shit man. Millennium falcon being found possibly because it was turned on for the first time in 30 years. If something turns on I'm positive it's able to be tracked. Think rationally man.
It was planned? Like for finn or rey. ? Man i dont think your illuminati theory is there for real luke is jerkin his D on his planet just chillin in dissapointment of his highschool musical student.
Han Solo mentions finding a 'clean ship' I think Finn asks why and Han responds by saying 'how do you think we found you' insinuating the Millenium Falcon was bugged, when it was turned on, Han and Chewie knew where to look.
"J.J. Abrams always wanted General Hux to be played by a young actor. He wanted the character to have a sense of tragedy and the fact that he appears to be too young to be in charge of a murderous group added to that."
I don't understand how anyone ( a specially star wars fans) can like the new movie. Weak characters, weak story, boring action, Kylo is completely useless and gets his ass kicked by everone.... Seriously, what is there to like? P.S this film wasn't really "close to the originals", it just used the same gimicks as the original... As with kylo itw as exactly like with darth vader. Most of the time when you saw him it was in the exact same way darth vader was seen in the old films, just throwing random tantrums in the death star and looking mysterious... It was basically just the exact same thing.
very easy, it feels like a star wars film again. yes the plot is similar to new hope but you are in the minority that even cares about that. the humour was back, it didn't rely on cgi too much and introduced new exciting characters that's got everyone hyped for the next film. I honestly don't know how you can be a star wars fan and come out of that film being disappointed
+James Sarvan - Kylo Ren was a bad ass villain until he took his mask off. He looked even worse when he got his butt kicked by Rey, who has literally no training. This movie went from a good movie to an "ok" movie for me. Those two factors were a turnoff without some soft of buildup
Jay L That's exactly what I thought, the first half was quite good then about halfway through it became very disjointed and rather dull. When Ren appeared at the start, it looked like he'd be a good stand in for Vader but sadly no. And as for Snoke, the cgi was awful and looked like something off a PS2 game and that took me right out of the movie!!
As a Scottish guy I thought that the Scottish bad guy was really unexpected and really wanted to know more about these bandits that Han and chewi had interacted with.
+Steven James I wouldn't say he ruined it for me, but I thought it was probably the weakest scene in the movie. His dialogue and delivery were both a bit cheesy for me.
+Benjamin Button yo this movie sucked I've seen you on about 7 comments say "your opinion is wrong fucking dumbass" ok lets try giving me actual things you liked about the movie and I'll tell you why it SUCKED and YOU'RE wrong
1.Jar Jar Binks 2. Too much CGI 3. Very bad dialogue and some wooden acting, two dimensional characters, horrible romance 4. Bad jokes 5. Midichlorians 6. Etc
+Morfeus Not to mention the awful and incoherent story. Even when it talked about political stuff, it failed miserably, all of Palpatine's schemes hanged by a thread.
@@TacticalMongoose99 haha find me proof of the majority disagreeing, then I'll take you serious, the movie is bad remake of a new hope, with shittier characters, don't get me wrong I would watch TFA over TLJ any day but that dosent make it a good movie.
(Not really a spoiler)
My favorite part was when Kylo Ren rages and two storm troopers just nope when walking past
Same. That was fucking hilarious. Made me sympathize with em' a lil bit tbh.
+Leo'sSpartanPoo "guaaaards guaaaaaaaaards"
+POTTERHEAD Mine was clearly BB-8 giving Finn the thumbs up
+Jedi Mind Tricks Yes! That was hilarious.
my favorite moment was after kylo beat Finn and was trying to get the lightsaber but it went to Rey. When I saw that scene I thought it was going to be luke
One good thing I will say bout the prequels, is that they had good world building. For example, all those "boring" senate scenes? First time we actually saw the politics of the Star Wars galaxy. I liked that.
+drksideofthewal same here dude. I thought the prequels where awesome
me too
+drksideofthewal What I personally liked about the prequels more than this new movie is the soundtrack. There wasn't any epic "Duel of the fates", "Across the stars" or "March at the Temple/Execute Order 66". Most new themes either used samples from the original soundtrack or felt very bland and generic.
+drksideofthewal
Those senate meetings were stupid.
How dare you
Liam Nelson was fine
+DynamicDurge no thats actually spot on. he took fantastic actors and gave them a bland boring story with terrible dialogue and useless direction.
i
Damn right.
1:20 Thank you JJ Abrams, for saving Star Wars.
Well that aged well.
Sarcasm
Looking back a new hope er I mean for awakens is now one of the worse star wars movies
@@garethdevlin5399 it's so bad, I liked the last jedi better
Aged like spoiled milk.
I have just finished watching original, prequel and sequel trilogy… force awakens is ok, slightly above average at best… but 8 and 9 make the prequels look like Citizen Kane. So many plotholes, so much bad writing..
I honestly thought he was gonna say "You done fucked it up!"
I was waiting for it. When I saw his face I thought "there was no way he hated this movie.....is there?"
I was like DON'T SAY IT YOU SON OF A BITCH IT WAS GOOD.
Then he he said they done good and I was happy.
yeah me too thought it was racial issue though i never seen it but read a lot good reviews for it and they all praise rey and fin like they're gonna get together at the end but since we live in a world full of internet trolls that would never happen especially in blockbuster series like star wars
+mohamud60 if you take internet trolls seriously, this world would be in chaos.
Ketorulz just looked into it there was a minor controversy about a black protagonist when the first trailer was revealed also fantastic 4 also had controversy about having a black guy play Human Torch/Johnny Storm so obviously they would've raised a shit storm if they had a mixed race couple in this movie
Captain Phasma should get an oscar for her performance....
nah luke
Yeah talk about a well deserved pay check!
+THASHRIMPKINGZ He had some great lines in this movie.
+Jay Douglas Falcon I didn't find her at all interesting, nor did I see a reason to keep the chrome helmit on no reason for it.
I just hope she didn't get caught in the explosion and that we see something from her next movie...
Stop right there. There be spoilers below.
You saved my life
+DeusGladiorum thank you man
+Mark Rutte you needed a warning on a review video?
Kylo ren kills han solo
Han Solo dies
Well this makes me sad watching this after his Rise of Skywalker review
Ikr
Same, man
Me too :(
😔
Not me, force awakens was so bad so it doesnt matter...bad from begining to end
*Jar Jar and J.J. - **_"Always two there are, no more no less... A master and an apprentice."_*
+River Of Blacklights "But which one SUCKS more, the master or the apprentice?"
im so sick of the jar jar jokes, its the easiest joke to make fukkkkk
+DarkAbyss483 lol no one ruined the series.
+River Of Blacklights But which one was destroyed, the master or the apprentice?
Jar Jar abrams
Fuck Star Wars, i want Joe to review the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie!
Haha ikr that movie looks great
ikr
Lol
Gtfo
fuck you
I loved the movie a lot! but there are a few gripes I have about it.
+JTelli786 So did Boba, perfect mirror.
I think that it built a lot of tension knowing so early that Han was the father. It built tension for the bridge scene.
+JTelli786 also, death star being destroyed. obi wan being killed by darth veider. going into a green planet to find an old jedi master in exile
+Tyler Atwood Yeah but bobas way fucking cooler
destinies repeat themselves. there are supposed to be parallels.
Have I ever told you the tragedy of the sequel trilogy.
no
@@JangoBlader it’s not a story the Disney apologists would tell you
@@River-pg1uk they said disney could buy any journalist, but not the fans themselves ....
Do they? Or do they have extended training to not go down the dark side?
Rey is just bad ass get over it.
*SPOILER*
They make the third Death Star and the good guys go to destroy it. But it was a trap and the fourth Death Star kills them all in the first ten minutes. The next two hours is a gif of jar jar dancing.
+Cronotekk I'd destroy the planet.....
***** Starkiller
u ruined the movie
lol
+Cronotekk Have seen movie can confirm
*I sense a disturbance in the force...*
You know what's funny?
+Kool Keith Productions Except theres one thing; critics also love Ep 7.
Marky Baloogah
Huh? I think you misread my comment. I said critics hated ep 1 from the start, but the fans liked it at first. That changed over time to where they both hated it. Now, it's the critics that love it from the start, but more and more fans are voicing their concerns over it. So I think over time, once again both critics and fans will see it's flaws.
+The Anakin LET'S GO POD RACING
MEESA JAR JAR BINKS
THE TRADE FEDERATION ON NABOO
FROM MY POINT OF VIEW THE JEDI ARE EVIL
10/10
+The Anakin Kylo Renn was shot by Chewbacca which certainly helped Rey and Finn. Not to mention Rey is a skilled fighter already and obviously has the force. And Renn is not a Sith yet.
Am I the only one that enjoyed the prequels? Particularly episode 3.
Nah, I liked three just fine for the most part. Obi-Wan carried the second and third movies for me. Anakin sucked, but I actually liked the intrigue of Palpatine's plot to destroy the republic with the power of democracy. It's genius.
Anakin was trash and Padme was kind of cringey, but other than that I liked the prequels.
Voffsing1 Mean Padme?
***** Yeah, thanks bro. Kinda tired today
Voffsing1 ^_^ no worries buddy
There wasn't any obvious bodies or fight mark were there? I couldn't see any in my case but then again.. The screen is gigantic xD
Grandpa Trinity You could see the scattered corpses during the thunder.
look:

Oh, I see. I thought they were just standing in the rain, I didn't quite notice the bodies.
It was pretty much a remake of a new hope. right down to the cantena. 8.5/10
+BoringMan yep thought the exact same thing.
Yep, a new hope reboot to the bone
+BoringMan i dont understand why you guys say this. it was its own movie and honestly completely different.
+BoringMan Well people kept bitching for something like the originals so.
+GamehubExpress i think they've set up a new bunch of characters to make more original moves. But (SPOILERS) they literally had a death star that was five times larger that blew up FIVE planets. So much was identical to old movies that it was a little grating.
Someone liked A New Hope 2...
but seriously, it was a good movie - just not amazing.
yah it was a lot like a new hope which is a good thing but maybe Disney wanted to take the theme from A new hope so they didn't screw star wars up. But still a great movie
It was a decent build up, hoping the next one will be amazing.
+Lucky Egg
A lot of the plot points where similar, but the characters and motivations behind them were very different which made it work and feel fresh.

I liked the movie until they decided to shit on lightsaber combat which apparently requires no practice to master .
Who gives a damn about 7 forms if lightsaber combat when you can force feel your way into learning it . . That is not how it works damn it .
+sorokonojkaboris 7 forms? That's prequel's shit. See any fight from Ep IV, V or VI, that's how it is done
"That's not how the Force works!" - Han Solo
+ChrisIsONLINE Or in Return of the Jedi.
Luke had to practice lightsaber in original movies too .Go watch the movie yourself because Vader easily beat him in V with lighsaber . By VI Luke was much more proficient . He didn't learn it on the go
sorokonojkaboris He still didn't learn any of the styles you're talking about in any detail.
"YOU DONE DID IT GEWD!" Lol. Joe, I'm so happy to see you happy.
I was so happy it was good. We all deserved it, including Joe. J.J Abrams delivered a great movie.
+cbb88dragonborn dude it was ok....lol relax
+dued27 shit dude, i almost had a heart attack when i saw his face... I thought the movie sucked. Damn, Joe fooled me!

+dued27 Happy Joe is back once again.
I must be the only one that appreciates the prequel films
yes you are...
Lol it seems we....my friend.... are the true disciples of star wars and the force
+streetdzine I love the opening scene in RoTS where the capital ships are fighting each other. Excellent intro music to go with it as well!!
+streetdzine
I like the prequels too, but I recognize the weaknesses.
Joe looking back on this and realize that George Lucas wasn’t the one who destroyed it lol 😂
+Alex Tekle Well said.
Regardless, I'm definitely a fan of Ren. He is a badass villain but at the same time a really troubled kid who was seduced by true evil yet manages to retain a spark of light...well, until that whole stabbing his Dad thing. I just love the dichotomy, and I really hope Abrams explores that a lot more in the next episode. :)
wow crazy when jar jar was revealed as kylo!
Kylo's great-grandmother dies **spoilers**
+liam gunnip Yeah that line though: "Oh hesa not the dark lord of the Sith. Mesa the dark lord of the Sith! Mesa Darth Jar Jar, and yousa in big doodoo this time!"
Crazy when R2D2 was revealed to be lord emporor hologram Snookie of The First Order.
kjarpr0
What about that moment at the end when Supreme Leader Snoke turns off the hologram, and then the camera switches to the location that he's projecting it from and it reveals that he's actually an Ewok?
Jason Brown Yeah that was class
I was disappointed that Captain Phasma did literally nothing in the whole movie
She was pushed to the sidelines where she will be developed further in future movies
yea, i get that. but she was hyped up, and did nothing
I don't even remember seeing her in the movie.
Not even the lore explains it
The book Bloodlines explains some of this. It will make sense why there is a resistance.
Read Aftermath. it'll
bring you up to date with happened in between VI and VII.
+Matthew Brack I just saw the movie today, It was fantastic. I couldn't be happier since the Original Star Wars.
+Matthew Brack I'm one of the people who didn't like the movie much but it was by no means bad (though imo it certainly wasn't good either). Anyone giving it a 1 or something either wants attention or is mad. Like you said, fantastic 4 is a bad movie, this wasn't even close to a movie like that
Kick Sumo NO.
Kick Sumo You clearly have no idea how The Force works, it will balance itself out. Ben can clearly feel he is getting weaker that why there is fear within him.
i enjoyed it and had fun watching it. Those babbling it's bad are prequel apologists and Disney haters.
I want star wars to be a bit more darker, that´s one of the things i liked about episode 3
+xsyren *kill all* was pretty dark at the begining
So you liked this movie?
Empire Strikes Back was really dark, I loved it.
The masses seem to agree.
Don't understand why people want EDGE from an innocent little saga like Star Wars, that stuff belongs in the Terminator, or Alien.
+foopa777 Well the name of the series is Star WARS.
Spoiler: Boba Fett is actually Rico Rodriguez!
+Dasc Swem the actual rico rodirguez would kick the crap out of bobba fett
+Grégory Z. Boba Fett crawled out of a Sarlacc pit I doubt some scruffy guy in a wing suit can even touch him.
+TheNegroKnight Have you played Just Cause? Rico could take him down just using the grapple hook
+ChaoticPaper Yeah but if he gets that close then Boba can just set him on fire or shoot him as Rico comes at him. And if he can escape the Sarlacc pit then he could easily escape a couple of tethers
+TheNegroKnight you seen how much health Rico has? His health also regens!
He trashed Lucas here. LMAO you just wait four more years of this sequel trilogy bruh 😂 🤣 😂
I think that's what makes him an interesting character. They could take the character in a lot of different directions.
+Scuffy P Sounds like you're describing young Anakin, to me. I feel like it fits.
thewopstop
You're talking about Anakin, not Vader.
+Scuffy P I personally think they were poking fun at Anakin through him, but I could be wrong. :P His tantrum fits were hilarious.
JJ said he knows but sees it as him being seduced
No one's talking about Domnhall Gleeson but his performance as Hux was intense as fuck.
General Weasley?
I'm with Joe on this one. I wish he was a bit older and had more force to him. Like putting Kylo in his place for bit because he acts like a kid.
+Sir Huss I look at it like the younger generation being the primary drivers of this revolution are doing it mostly because they're... young.
Kind of like why neo-nazis didn't start popping up in Europe by the generation who actually fought in the war, rather their rebellious children.
+HitchensImmortal To me Hux was the weakest, most irritating part of the movie. Domhall overacted.
SPOILERS: Yeah, you can see in the movie that he believes that destroying the republic is what he truly wants. He gets teary eyed when he looks at the Starkiller beam heading towards the system Corusant is in.
Seriously? I mean I don't know about you but I thought Adam Driver played one hell of a villain. I thought that role was castes perfectly.
Casted*
+AlexLarson7 Driver did amazing!
+bptruett he seemed like a pretty lame villan to me he didnt seem bad enough
Rebels attack a "death star..."
1 ship flies in and destroys the "death star" solo...
The movies are supposed to rhyme, I guess that's why
Whaaaaaat, there was star wars stuff in the star wars movie? I hate that.
@@personb9034 daft punk.

I mean both Episode 4 and 7 start with a sith and his stormtroopers looking for a droid.
lol how do u like everything about a movie but the story? so u liked the sounds and picture
*Star Wars: Battlefront EA:* "They fucked it up!"
*Star Wars: The Force Awakens:* "You done did it good!"
yes, because battlefront is a crap shoot of a shooter that's all style and no substance, and the force awakens is a legitimately good movie that breathes new life into the franchise.
they did fuck up battlefront they threw away most of the things that was good about it
So fucking funny dude. A video-game and a movie, so funny, be a comedian please.
+al112v5 Jeez, why so aggressive?
psst...because EA is didn't care about fans while Disney are
I can't believe Joe thinks this was a good movie.
I think Joe has fallen victim to nostalgia and denial because we all want a good movie after the stain of the prequels.
+Cali the Calico "she has mastered the force and rivals Luke's level in return of the Jedi" ??? She didn't??? Kylo Ren is an apprentice too. She already had a knowledge with weapons as seen in the part she uses a staff.
+Cali the Calico You're the one saying she mastered Luke's power, not the movie.
WHAT DO U MEAN NO TRAINING? She carries around a BIG STAFF and fights with it.
The only problem I have with the movie is that it was almost essentially an Ep. 4 reboot.
It was an omage.
The Intergalactic Jailer It was pure blatant plagiarism.
@@godarmy4918 it is, but i think it treated the og crew pretty bad, especially Han Solo, he had a well developed character on the OT and force awakens erases all of that.
I can't believe people that shout Han shot first saying the edit ruined the character and then praised the force awakens exist.
Looking forward to the day you realize this is BAD. Like waking up from a bad nightmare.
lol!
+LeGarsToutJaune sorry to tell you that it won't happen :)
The movie is awesome. Absolutely awesome. And the sad little fucking lowlife-nerds who want to talk it down are gonna change NOTHING about that fact :D
+z0ttel89 Typical fan boy, if someone doesn't agree with you they're little lowlife-nerds
+Emperor of Fail Well that makes sense. He was conflicted.
II
Joe is obviously biased. He is owned by Disney after all.
+Paladin Joe lol minority
Yeah... Because that's why he gave Star Wars battlefront such a good review...
+TheInsaneComputer Gamer it's a joke lol.
It was an april joke from Joe in 2013 or 2014, dont remember exactly :)
+Paladin Joe Write in brackets (Joke). Words don't express emotions... sif you don't know that ?
8:40 "Do you see the fu**ing difference, George??"
Haha I do indeed see the difference :D
You didn't see it coming back then, but now everyone does: this trilogy was sadly absolute bullshit.
Well said
You make it sound like creating something completely 100% new and original is an easy thing to do...
Bitch please, they hate the prequels because of the stupid CGI
+Kyle Atienza and the not well writen romance
+Kyle Atienza The Force Awakens had a lot of CGI too
It's basically a remake of the original... Thunderous applause... Is how Star Wars dies.
Yoda is sad.
No. It's not. You're obviously just trying to make the movie bad, just leave. You're not a Star Wars fan.
+CoD Super lol
+R.B Riddick Playing it safe since George Lucas had messed it up
+Raiden “Jack The Ripper” Lightning Bolt The plot was secondary to the characters. Every part of the film is trying to ease us back into proper Star Wars and establish some new characters that we're comfortable with. The 3 from the originals can't keep going forever.

I would've liked to get more of a backstory on Kylo since he's going to be our main villain for the (possible) next movies
+Adam K I dono why, But when Kylo ren takes his mask off, i just can't take him seriously.. His face looks just like the kind of person you would cast to play the small kid that gets picked on at school... and i just can't take that face serious as a threat or villain.. also the way he acts when having the mask off, just feels like he's an arrogant child who
thinks he's soo much better than anyone else.
To me he just comes off as a Childish brat and not like an all powerful sith lord (or a knight of ren in this case) Tho when the mask is on he looks incredibly badass :D
+Spartan0941 Yeah that's true, Vader's past was only described in dialogue in A New Hope just like Kylo Ren.
This was before the dark times… Before the Last Jedi
Before the Rise of the Skywalker...
Holyflame 💀
The last Jedi was a good film buddy, the rise of skywalker is the shitty one
@@holoheartbreak4881 they're all terrible. God it depresses me how stupid people are
This movie wasn't good either
snoke was also described as supreme leader, and not emeperor
emperor*
+Mario luis Bonoan That's because there is no Emperor. The Galactic Republic was re-instated, and the First Order is simply an attempted resurrection of the Galactic Empire.
+Mario luis Bonoan yeah, by people in the first order, but since no one else sees him as that, all the crucial dialogue regarding him was just like: "snooooooooookee"
+Mario luis Bonoan Snoke is a shitty villain
he does however really remind of Darth Palegius
Rey - “You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.”
Stormtrooper - “I’ll remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open”
Rey - "You will drop your gun!"
Stormtrooper - "Annd I'll drop my gun"
This had me laughing xD
+Luke Thompson they way the stormtrooper said it in silence had me dying.
I liked the part where the storm troopers where walking down the corridor and then they heard Ren screaming and were just like, "Nope, fuck that" then turned around and casually walked away...
+Luke Thompson that was Daniel Craig
that was Daniel Craig who played that trooper lol
That was Daniel Craig's cameo
He was shot in the waist and still knocked Finn to the ground, makes sense how Rey defeated him.
Hes a beta male who sounds like a neckbeard when he talks.
+MaXiMuS54545 he is very young
+crzymn246 She knew how to fight with that stick she had, nothing too different from a lightsaber. Plus she was a STRONG Force sensitive, not an experienced Force sensitive, but a REALLY STRONG one.
Remember when people thought this film was
great. Turns out we were blinded by nostalgia and cool vfx.
British actors continuing to set the world standard for acting.
+Royal
agree, GB actors are sometimes more sophisticated somehow and give very interesting characters (and live more with their "tonation")
but in this case, John Boyega wasn't really good (too hyper active, almost hysterical ..too often,..besides didn't buy off his "im now best budies with Poe", wasnt credible. even if due to the rushed script a bit..... , didnt feel a real building up "romance" with Rey either... but he did have 1-2 good comedy moments).
while Adam Driver was way more interesting to watch "acting" ..and more subtle
+Royal There was absolutely no actor/actress in this movie of any nationality that set any kind of good standard.
+DRourk Why? I think the actors did great.
*SPOILERS******
Didn't Captain Phasma die? I mean, did I miss something? The last we saw of her, she was held up at gunpoint, and Han and Finn were talking about tossing her into the trash compactor room. On top of that, the planet kind of fucking exploded.
How is she going to factor into the next movies?
kennedy announced she was alive and survives
+battenfelder although I saw the movie already, I thank you for not being an ass spoiling it for the rest... I salute you!!!
+battenfelder Rule 1, if we dont see a body they aint dead. Besides he has been signed for the next 2 movies.
Toxic Kiyo
*She lol :P
She's not dead
Let me get it straight...
*SPOILERS*
So, the Rebels win this battle and destroy Starkiller base, only because Captain Phasma, which supposed to be extremely loyal, tough, badass First Order officer - cowards out and betrays everything she lived for, disabling the base shields ?
Am I missing something ? Is it me or this is very stupid ?
+Kaizerg i would. i got a gun to my head, yeah ill turn the shields off
This was pretty much the worst part of the movie bothered me a lot other than this it was pretty damn good she just like gave up didn't feel right
Okay question, what did Phasma do for anyone to think she's badass? All she did in the trailer is look cool for like one shot
+Bryson Royal Well she's a captain and everyone seemed to respect/fear her towards the start of the movie
Needsa more jar jar >:(
get out
+Jar Jar Binks It's me, Palpatine. Look I need to apologise for manipulating for granting me emergency powers. It was wrong and I'm sorry.
NOOOO!
Haha
+Jar Jar Binks Honestly I just want a Gungan sith.
Tubatitan12 "If you look around the internet there are tons of people (who happen to be white males) going insane that a black man was a lead in star wars not to mention that a girl was taking center stage."
Really? That's never happened before. Well I guess Joe bringing it to everyone's attention is a good thing then because, again, it's never happened before. Before Star Wars EP.7 released, the internet was a place of racial and gender equality. Thanks Joe.
Tubatitan12 "So because it's already out there he should just pretend it doesn't actually happen?"
Does bringing it up in a movie review tell a person interested in said review what is good or bad about the movie?
"So just to clarify he should just ignore his feelings about it on his channel, during his review, about something that he enjoyed about the film which he is reviewing."
Enjoying a diverse cast is one thing, focusing on it because of assholes and then making the implication that a diverse cast somehow improves the film, which it doesn't because acting talent is race and gender neutral, is a different matter altogether.
+NorthernDragon
I can't be the only one who cringed when Joe was getting hyped about minorities having a big role.
Hes racist towards whites.
"Captain Phantasma"
Oh.
+Dapper Disrespectful don't hate me because my name kicks your names ass

The Original Trilogy had two advantages over The Force Awakens:
1: It was completely new, so it could keep the story simple.
2: It didn't have to reconcile (or clean up) the Phantom Trilogy's story (or lack of thereof).
+John Doe Well, this is why the original trilogy will still be hard if not impossible to surpass.
lsebastian9086
Agreed.
John Doe
Tough being honest...what i hoped was that or atleast, that the movie while being far form masterpiece, at least is good enough to avoid the problem of the prequels
lsebastian9086
That in itself is quite the achievement. If you can watch it without ever thinking about anything that happened in That Which Shall Not Be Named, then it's a win.
+John Doe nah it sucks.
The happiness in Joes eyes makes me sad
Why does everyone hate the prequels, revenge of the sith was okay
+Levi Lyons tahts the only movie that is good from the prequels
I thought he was a great character you could see the hate and resentment of the Jedi in him
+Levi Lyons I don't like sand it's coarse and gets everywhere :(
Star Wars haters everywhere.
The movie was amazing.
I would give it a 9/10.

+Simply The Bear they basically did the fall of the republic again -_-
The storm troopers were actually intimidating this time around am I right
+MrGhost Well... Almost... They're getting better!
+Nuclear Cherry That's what happens when you aren't a clone :P
+Nuclear Cherry Exactly. The same with the resistance fighters. One of my favourite things about the new movie: The goons and minions actually matter. Every blaster bolt sounds powerful and meaningful, and for the first time we learn that Stormtroopers are people too.
RomanusKaiser I mean you see one bleed for cryin' out loud....
+Nuclear Cherry That was the first thing I pointed out to my friend when we saw the movie ;--;
This hasn't aged well, considering episode 8 and 9 ;)
AngryJoe: the First Order isn't as powerful as the Empire.
+moist Von lipwig: That's like comparing the Iraqi Army and ISIS
The first order is more reminiscent of nazi germany. In my opinion.

+Ruaridh McGurk Nah, he should have said "you done copied it up". This isn't episode 7, it was episode 4.5.
+James Henry Han Solo become mutant from corpse and joined Civil War
+Marcos Amell OMG are you a mind reader? I agree completely with your comment dude!
+Marcos Amell I was about to say the same thing...if anything the movie was an upset to me...It was a decent movie but it wasn't worth the hype
Rey is inexplicably over exceptional. A bit too much girl powered if you know what I mean.
She literally has no flaws.
They will probably explain this in the other movies.
So this movie:
-Copy-Paste plot ( just watch epIV )
-Dull Characters (Mary sue, Dumb-but-good, Surprise-not-dead-butwhothehellareyoureally, Emo Daddy-issues kid and oh Goldmine)
-Did I say Mary Sue? Because...REALLY.
-The "we have the powerful woman, the black guy and the teen drama, we're so progressive! Who cares if we can't even write the personality of a teaspoon to save our lives" kind of logic.
-"We can't write the good characters, you actually expect us to write the evil ones?"
-It's not the Falcon, everything is still the same, not even 1 new tech in 30 years...
-ups I forgot The BIGGER THE BETTER Death Star!
-R.I.P Coruscant, your death was worth a total of 30 secs
-"If Nazi and USSR had a child... voilá the First Order, we're so smart"
-But wait...Didn't they defeat the Empire?
It wasn't Coruscant...
+Sonic Doctor LOL, holy shit are we living in the same reality? Did you even see this movie?
This dude couldn't have seen the movie. Or he's just trolling. No human being in their right mind would think this movie destroyed Star Wars.
James Smith
Jumping to conclusions.
Don't start with shitting on the prequels, Revenge of the Sith is hands down the best Star Wars movie.
+ManBitch
Revenge is ass. The only thing interesting in that movie is Palpatine. I don't care if it has the best story out of all of the Star Wars movies. The execution of the story was terrible.
And you're hands down the biggest dumbass
+ManBitch Hummm ... no . ROTS was good and better then the other prequels BUT it,s still not as good as any of the originals.
Amen
Bullshit.
Damn, this has aged worse than sour milk. "Thank you JJ Abrams for saving Star Wars!" ; "Rey's performance" lmao so embarrassing.
Except the acting is good in the sequels, you have to admit that.

@@constantin5509 Yes it is you're wrong.
Daisy's performance was stellar tf you mean.

+EdgeOf1996 Completely agree with everything you said!
Eric Brown I know right, it seemed like he was going to get a vision of the force. But perhaps its being saved for the next movie?
+Eric Brown Finn was running away half of the movie
***** No.... No he didn't. IF he died they would have shown it and made an actual scene out of it. The fact that they picked up his body and put it on the falcon AND the fact that Rey's last words to him were "we'll see each other again." (or something like that).
Thats all the proof I need to know he is still alive.
Eric Brown He's not a clone. He mentioned how he was stolen as a child.
I can see how that would be misleading.
This isn't an angry review this is just you being paid to say good things about this disgrace
The movie isn't that bad watch it next time but go deeper into the story once you get there you would see that it's not that bad and sets up for a amazing sequel ( this movie does have some flaws just wanted to point that out but not many flaws)
Viscoselight23 It has nothing but flaws
+Viscoselight23 I wish I was as blind and naive as you but unfortunately I'm not
+Scott Saucerman It has nothing but flaws---- What??
Rey is in tune with the force
James Fairbanks Thanks for setting that straight for me
Took anakin and Luke 3 movies.. Rey learns it and becomes a god damn master in 10 minutes.. Complete bullshit. Kylo sucked too. Almost got beat by a janitor
Luke is the best Jedi still rey learned in hours but Kylo ren is a terrible Sith but Remember rey held Luke's lightsaber
1:22 this didn’t age well
Sorry, the prequels were not a disaster.
+otto agosto The plot was brilliant, George is a genius, but the execution was HORRIBLE. A good plot is not going to save you if the execution is bad.
Name one prominent trait of Padme Amidala indicated from the prequels, and I'll call them good. For example Luke is brave and courageous.
^Henri^ Name 2 prominent traits.
+otto agosto The prequels were not a financial disaster, but they clearly demonstrated that George Lucas needs people like Irvin Kershner to make George look good. It's a well known fact that George is an excellent technical director, but a terrible people director.
+otto agosto My favorite Star Wars episode is 3 I like the prequels
I hope there is a FAMILY GUY FORCE AWAKENS EPISODE!
[SPOILERS IN COMMENTS BELOW]
+Thomas Kishman II apparently if you just watch Blue harvest your done :P
+Kev Smith You're
Or a robot chicken version
+tOM FANK Yea, id rather a robot chicken one than a family guy one
Yea nobody watches family guy no more but the loyals
You're starting to become like IGN, Joe.
"OMG THIS WAS THE GREATEST MOVIE IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD I MEAN THE ORIGINALS WERE A LITTLE BETTER BUT OMG IT WAS AMAZING AS F" - 8/10.
+Adeon55 That's called "having an opinion"
dries123ful Close. It's called "having a contradictory opinion".
Marco Creen Thanks ^^
+Adeon55 It was perfect!!! I rate 5/7
Joe is giving an honest rating without discouraging anyone from seeing the film. You can totally love a film from a fan perspective but shred it from a critics point of view. There is no shortage of one dimensional personalities on TH-cam.
Four years later... Angry Joe is like "You fucked it up!!!"
the movie wasnt all that good. sorry.
I thought the same.
+michaelsloanedog no it was amazing
+michaelsloanedog It was better than the haters were making it out to be, but its not as good as the fans think it is.
+michaelsloanedog Thank you for your opinion.
+michaelsloanedog awkward
Kylo Ren was basically what Anakin was meant to be. A genuinely conflicted villain who is believable.
I agree if the prequels were good (even though I liked revenge of the Sith) this is what Anakin would have been in Revenge of the Sith
+CaliberStone He was decent, but i didn't like how they did not establish him as a threat. He lost to Rey who had never used a lightsaber before! Come on!
+Suika Ibuki
Hes a half mad failed jedi that had just " done the thing" , and gotten shot.
I fucking love this character.
+CaliberStone thank god you said that, I thought the same thing
No. Nostalgia doesn't make a good movie.
+Jake Singer No it doesn't, but a movie can be nostalgiac and good at the same time. Which I think this one acomplished greatly.
Neither does bad dialogue, bad cgi, bad acting, bad romance, bad story all of which this flim lacks.
This had almost no nostalgia
+Jake Singer my parents saw it who had never seen star-wars before, they both loved it despite the fact that they both actively have said that they hate fantasy and sci-phi
You're right. Good writing, acting, cinematography, and direction make a good movie and this movie had all of those.
I hated this movie, JJ Abrams stop making movies.
Obvious troll is obvious
Because no one could possibly dislike this pile of shit feminazi SJW movie? Seems like you are the troll.
It got more love than hate so you are in the minority wich means it is a good movie
That is one of the dumbest arguments I have ever heard, you just showed your inability to form your own opinion and that you are a sheep, basically showing that you are a close minded conformist. I don't care if millions of ppl enjoy watching a turd sizzle in the sun, it would still be shit.
DID YOU JUST CALL ME A SHEEP HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anybody else have a new found crush on Daisy Ridley after watching TFA?
+TheRealCMPUNKFan I like her smile.
And she's more than just a pretty face. Genuinely admire her and the character.
Whoever decided to twirl her sideburns like that should get a medal. She is adorable
+TheRealCMPUNKFan she is my new celebrity crush. she is so pretty and just her smile.
A strong female lead character , she nailed it
I think it sucked. It was just not good
+Johann Schmidt
i agree with u 100%
+Johann Schmidt
Yeah.
+Johann Schmidt
"you have the true overlord evil villain in the background" I agree with everything except this part.. The Supreme Ruler could have been Sidious. He could have survived the fall down the shaft of the death star somehow (explains the huge gash) and that's why everyone obeys him because he is the last remnant of the Empire.
John Macs
You must be a Trump supporter.
+tezeskop I would go that far as you but I agree I dont think that it was bad movie but I agree with same story and so on, dissapointment in story.
They didn't fuck it up....7 years later this didn't age well.
"J.J. Abrams always wanted General Hux to be played by a young actor. He wanted the character to have a sense of tragedy and the fact that he appears to be too young to be in charge of a murderous group added to that."
I bet general Hux is going to be like miller from mgs v
+suzane peepoc what does that mean, i played it but cnt remember names.
like he will be the big bad guy later on ?
+louis romero Not only the speech. His looks alone would make for a fine Nazi Officer in some WWII movie, I guess.
+Torico he sucked. His delivery speech was weak performed. This scene could have benefited more. To me he was the weakest casting member.
Yea I enjoyed his performance
I don't understand how anyone ( a specially star wars fans) can like the new movie.
Weak characters, weak story, boring action, Kylo is completely useless and gets his ass kicked by everone.... Seriously, what is there to like?
P.S this film wasn't really "close to the originals", it just used the same gimicks as the original... As with kylo itw as exactly like with darth vader. Most of the time when you saw him it was in the exact same way darth vader was seen in the old films, just throwing random tantrums in the death star and looking mysterious... It was basically just the exact same thing.
+James Sarvan I'm 100% with you on that bud, it was an awful movie! A rebooted pisstake of the classic trilogy
very easy, it feels like a star wars film again. yes the plot is similar to new hope but you are in the minority that even cares about that. the humour was back, it didn't rely on cgi too much and introduced new exciting characters that's got everyone hyped for the next film. I honestly don't know how you can be a star wars fan and come out of that film being disappointed
+richlawton1995 pretty much this. Kylo Ren singlehandedly wipes out most characters in prequel trilogy in terms of interest.
+James Sarvan
- Kylo Ren was a bad ass villain until he took his mask off.
Did anyone else's heart drop when he got that "YOU DONE FUCKED IT UP!" Face?
Yep. Was really confused. Nicely done Joe
I was hoping he would have the movie sucks.
No, because I don't worship his opinion that much or at all.
+CEE7777777 I was so afraid that it was going to suck ass lol but it was so good cx
I’m just so happy that angry joe got one final burst of dopamine from Star Wars before everything went to shit.
Mandalorian? Andor?
@@Dp_is_Op Trash
Rogue One, is the best Star Wars movie. Empire Strikes back only wins from Nostalgia. 😤
As a Scottish guy I thought that the Scottish bad guy was really unexpected and really wanted to know more about these bandits that Han and chewi had interacted with.
+Isaac the thing and Ewan Mcgregor's in it!
+Isaac the thing
Just be happy there are Scottish folks in a galaxy far, far away. You people get around.
+Isaac the thing i hate that scottish guy, ruined it a bit for me
+Steven James I wouldn't say he ruined it for me, but I thought it was probably the weakest scene in the movie. His dialogue and delivery were both a bit cheesy for me.
+MarkNUK his accent was a bit weak but I meant I like seeing a sort of side plot happening in movies and they were intriguing enough to interest me.
It's basically a carbon copy of the original movie. Nothing great about that.
+Billy Killett People wanted more of the "original movie" -.- here it is..
+Benjamin Button it has alot in common with a new hope, go watch nostalgia critic's review, he nails it.
+Benjamin Button yo this movie sucked I've seen you on about 7 comments say "your opinion is wrong fucking dumbass" ok lets try giving me actual things you liked about the movie and I'll tell you why it SUCKED and YOU'RE wrong
I actually really liked the performance of Domhnall Gleeson, who played General Hux. He was definitely channelling Peter Cushing's style of delivery.
+Neil Jordan
he wasnt bad imo, but his speech moment didnt work..
+Neil Jordan He wasn't very intimidating though, just couldn't feel it. Jus like Kylo after he took of his mask n became whiny
+Neil Jordan I thought he was cool, not the best performance but he did the best he could with a pretty two-dimensional character.
+Rai TheNoblesse His speech was the most retarded moment of the saga. Worse than Jar Jar.
They should just remove this horrible piece of trash.
Valentin Birette False. Nothing is worse than Jar Jar.
What are you talking about? It sucked.
Also your forgetting that George Didn't want to make the prequels.
***** He wanted to make the first 3 films the old ones but get got pressured into making 4, 5 and 6.
+Kazuto Kirigaya No.... he didn't
foxbridge2626 Yes. He even said he didn't want to make them.
+JT Nelson Actually A New Hope was only called Star Wars. They added the "IV" at a later time.
whats wrong with the Prequels? theyre not that bad, whats the Problem everyone has with them, Joe included?
1.Jar Jar Binks
2. Too much CGI
3. Very bad dialogue and some wooden acting, two dimensional characters, horrible romance
4. Bad jokes
5. Midichlorians
6. Etc
+Morfeus Not to mention the awful and incoherent story. Even when it talked about political stuff, it failed miserably, all of Palpatine's schemes hanged by a thread.
shutup
+Genesis23OPB I didn't think the prequels were that bad either =/ To each their own.
They were boring af
am I the only one that loves the first 6 films and had high expectations for this and I didn't like it
I doubt it. Though you're in the minority
+legitxlad2731 I'm right there with you
i am with you
+legitxlad2731 me too
Yes, average film which like other JJ films is v busy
"The acting was superb!" Yeah, no, I don't think you're being honest here. I don't think you ever are.
The world disagrees
+Ceasar
Do you know what an opinion is?
+Dudu Oson no
Yeah
this video has not aged well lmao
TFA is still great.
@@thaThRONe no, no it's not
SpearixPlays eh, I’d say the majority disagrees with you lol
@@TacticalMongoose99 haha find me proof of the majority disagreeing, then I'll take you serious, the movie is bad remake of a new hope, with shittier characters, don't get me wrong I would watch TFA over TLJ any day but that dosent make it a good movie.
@@partypanda I think he's making reference to the consensus audience scores for TFA or the 2 billion it grossed worldwide.
