Re UV protection from ceramic coatings, Dimitrys Garage has done very thorough testing, and has foud that coatings provide very little protection at best.

thank you for posting this Jason. I was unsure about what to charge for door jambs and this solidified my question. Really great questions with JP! In the next 2 years, I'm probably gonna have watched at least 10-20k hours of JP teachings. One of the best teachers I'll meet in my lifetime. Please get Justin in for a 1 to 2-day wrapping/ppf show type thing where we learn from Justin.

Totally love the video and the info was eye opening, I plan on getting my business van wrapped, what type of matt wrap would be recommended for the longest durability. What should I be looking for, I’m in Alberta Canada just to give an idea of weather conditions and climate.
If you get a good ceramic coating on top of that wrap, a name brand color change film and take proper care of it you should have 3-4 years.
I'd like to hear more about, prepping your car for a wrap.
Beyond cleaning the car, is it recommended to say, treat the paint as if you were trying to protect it long term, as in a buff/polish and ceramic coating application, before you apply a wrap?
I'd wonder if that wouldn't also help later on down the line for wrap removal, since the thing the wrap is bonding to is the coating. if it tries to take something with it on removal, hopefully the coating gives before the clear coat or base coat.
Also, has anyone started to make a wrap for vehicles that aren't perfect in terms of paint? My specific example is, I have a vehicle with a lot of spots of eaten clear coat from artillery fungus, and will need a complete repaint. Now, if there was a wrap product that could cover those imperfections, that could be interesting. Yes I'd expect even more damage to the paint upon wrap removal, but that's a cross I might be willing to bare.
Unless there's some deep scratches that will show up through the vinyl, it's not worth detailing your paint to protection. Vinyl installation will typically introduce some swirls/ microscratches that will mitigate all of the work you've just done. Just make sure the paint is clean to get a good bond between the vinyl and clearcoat, and you're good to go!
