Currently run gladius with chaplain + 6 bgv in a redeemer with 3 eradicators also in there; the bladeguard can disembark and push forward while the eradicators and redeemer hold midfield objectives with combined anti-tank and anti-infantry firepower
Aside from the effectiveness of a Judiciar or a Chaplain to a 6man BGV, I have the found my fondness for a Gladius Captain(honor Vehement) + Lieutenant + 6BGV. On top of the BGV attacks, the LT's Lethals hits together with the Captain's attacks and his Finest Hour ability enhanced with the Vehement buff plus the +1 Wound strat makes the whole unit a melee blender that even vehicles cant scoff it off.
I don't think judicar is most of the time necessary. There's not a lot of other ff units to need to counteract and you are usually investing heavily into bgv mobility anyways so they'll get the charge. They don't hit so hard that the ff might make a difference and they're tanky so they can take hits anyways. I think chaplain is better because it expands the kinds of targets the bgv would be good against.
Two questions: 1. Which Apothecary do you add to the Marneus Calgar-Bladeguard Veteran-Troup since none of them state they can lead Bladeguard Veterans 2. Is it possible to furthermore add a Bladeguard Ancient to the Marneus Calgar-Apothecary-Bladeguard Veteran Troup or can you only add one additional leader?
1) None. I’ve mixed up Biologis apothecary and lieutenant here. Bio can’t lead BG, and you’d not want a lieutenant because of repeated abilities. 2) You can only add one additional leader, so either Ancient or Lieutenant
I play them with Lt. And Ragnar for my space wolves. They are awesome, but with TWC at the same point cost it can be hard to justify their place in the list over other units that cover the shooting weakness or something else that isn’t just tying to just into charge into melee. This video has definitely helped me in figuring out how to use them effectively, so thank you for that.
Love the blade guard! I’m excited to run the new supped up inner circle guys this week. 1 unit with azreal and 1 unit with judiciar to use the new 1 cp heroic intervention (at least that’s the plan). Was also thinking a 10 man assault intercessors with librarian to try and keep them alive longer. (That gives 2/3 squads a 4++)
I play Black Templar and I’m always debating if I want more of these or sword brethren. Currently running 6 bladeguard with a chaplain and 2x5 sword bros with helbrecht and emperors champ. It feels great
I love these models, so I would love to find the best way to use them. I don't have any of the Landraiders, so I am strugæling a little on the mobility side of things, although i usually play Gladius, so that helps a little. And as a Dark Angels player I am still debating between a chaplain, a Lieutenant or Ezekiel as the best character option.
Azrael isn’t a bad option, especially considering you are running Gladius and don’t need him to give IC keyword to hellblasters so running a combo of him plus a lieutenant can be strong. Though you still have an option of Hellbalsters + Fire Discipline combo, so it’s an interesting conundrum
On the Marneus slide you mentioned you can just attach an apothecary for lethal hits, but sadly thats not true. (I know right). You can attach a LT if you want lethal hits in that squad. Not only does the Apothecary not give Lethal Hits, but can also not be attached to Bladeguard for some reason.
Yes, I meant Biologis, but forgot that he needs gravis (so either Erads or Aggressors to do join). So yes, lieutenant it is. Thank you for the correction🔥
Seth cant lead bladeguard yet, hopefully they will add this option. Anyway you can move if you disembark from a stationary/not yet moved vehicle, while you cant move/advance if transport moved in the same turn
Math’ing it out I’m pretty sure 6 bg are still better than 5 terminators, unless you can make good use of the deepstrike ability I like bg in sons of sanguinius with a captain or by themselves. Strength 7 and access to lance lets them take on any target. Even something T12 will still be wounded on a 4 with lance
Ok i should stop watching these and go back to lore content. I feel the plastic addiction tickle at my toes. It wants to take hold. "Just buy one model and try it out. Look at that badass character with it's flames and big fuckoff hammer" - it whispers. I have to stay strong.
It won’t work. I was balls deep in the lore for two years and then my girlfriend bought a Starter Box so she could get the Tyranids and it was over. Eventually it will get you. Try to curb it by getting a 3d printer though. Your wallet will thank you in the long run.
Yep, the 3D printer advice is brilliant. You and can kinda justify it by saying you can also print non-40K stuff as well there when needed (we all know it’s not for that though😄)
For me they are one of the most overrated units. They are poor with shooting and average with melee also movement is their main issue. So they need transport and land raider reedemer with 2x6 BG is a 600 points its 3 Redemptors! I played them with Marneus and with lieutenant, they are so much better with Marneus but Marneus is so much better with aggressors and apothecary.

This works well since the targets bgv suck against are tougher units like monsters and vehicles
The change to Deathwing inner circle detatchment's interaction with selecting vowed objectives made these guys crazy good now.
I typically run Adrax with 3 BG and a Lt w/ Champion of Humanity in my LR Redeemer along with 3 Assault Centurions
Really love seeing these videos. Keep them coming, brother!
Thank you! Glad you like it Charm💪💪💪
Awesome stuff man!! Blood angels forever!
Ezekiel with the bladguard is my personal preference. +1 attack
Keep up the quality content
Thank you💪

My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it💪
Yes, TWC is a hard competitor for BG, one thing that would attract me in this is extra AP and damage 2

Same here, literally my favorite SM unit
Good combos💪
i really with the Watchmaster in Deathwatch could lead them. Giving advance/fall back shoot and charge could be fun.
Oh yeah, it would be incredible! I’d love for him to also be able to lead other normal SM units, like terminators or Assault Intercessors
I really like 6 BG with adrax and LT with champion of humanity which will kill a ctan when you add +1 to wound
I play Black Templar and I’m always debating if I want more of these or sword brethren. Currently running 6 bladeguard with a chaplain and 2x5 sword bros with helbrecht and emperors champ. It feels great

@@vfminiatures Yeah, Azreal is great, but the 4+ invulnereble save is wasted on BGV and I do like that extra durability a lot with my Hellblasters.
Yep, also a valid point. Then the simplest and cheapest option is the Chaplain
What do you think now that the Impulsor now having a 7 man capacity? We can have a "Bladeguard Taxi" now right? 6 of them with 1 character?
I’m so happy!!! Literally amazing fix, though Rep Executioner is still 6 seats lol😂
What would be a good character use for Blood Angels with BG?
Chaplain, Captain or Judiciar - all are good and have fair uses, depending on what else you are running and what your game plan is
How are you attaching the apothecary to the blade guard?
You don’t, I made a mistake in the video🤗
Newer player here with a question: how do you fit 12 bladeguard & leader in a land raider? I thought the capacity is only 12, do leaders not count?
I was talking about the Redeemer, he’s a 14 seat transport

With Gabriel Seth, Can when I desembark of a LR make an avance and charge After?

In Sons they are DANGEROUS, true! With a big D
Doesn't the land raider only have twelve seats?
The regular LR, but not the Redeemer. That baby carries 14😁
Apothecary, doesnt stick with BG.
laughs in black templar.

In white scars they could be amazing actually since there's no need for transport tax but storm lance is just really bad in general now.
