Loved following your journey around NZ. On that same day my wife and I were in Bluff, on holiday, at the bottom of the South Island and it was cold. A warm jacket and hat day.

Boulder Bank is a natural phenomenon and a cut was made through it near the Port of Nelson to enable ships to gain easier access for berthing , the end of the Boulder Bank is now Haulashore Island , near Fifeshire Rock , lived in Nelson for 18 years , still miss the vibrancy of the place .

Having lived in Nelson for almost 30 years (now in the south) it's incredible beautiful and stunning however the traffic has gotten crazy there now and it's extremely expensive. If you really want a good view over the city try walking up the Grampians (or alternatively fringe hill) from the Bishopdale side and come down the Collingwood Street side. It has some of the best views in the region. Also you need to try sublime coffee and the Wakefield bakery
