    This judge changed mine and my family’s lives. She sentenced someone who caused a lot of harm to our family for a very long time. I love her so much for doing this for us. ❤

      I am very happy that the judge made it possible for you and your family to remain safe and get the justice that is deserved. Far too often, even within my personal life, we see stories where people were not given the sentence they deserved and just slapped on the wrist. This judge obviously takes her oath very seriously. I wish I had someone like her watching over the case that I experienced.

    Honestly ... My parents ran an adult care home for mentally/physically disabled veterans. We dealt with people like this, on a daily basis. We all lived as a family, in the same home, so I grew up with this environment. I am glad I did, too. I learned not only the patience needed to love in this world but, the understanding of the sacrifice for our freedom.
    Each person is different, and this judge was brilliant. I can't applaud her enough for her professionalism, tact, and understanding. She allowed the woman to speak her peace. She listened, and didn't confirm (nor deny), this womans world.
    Regardless of what "normal" people think ..... This is the world "crazy" lives in. They can't escape, and don't understand people reacting to them as they do. This judge was spot on. We would all do well to learn these skills. Makes it more comfortable on all sides.

      I appreciate what your parents did and you grew up with. Unfortunately I don't think courts or systems usually have patience with mental illness. My schizophrenic brother killed our Dad by stabbing him. He told his attorney he didn't want an insanity defense. The state evaluated his competence to stand trial, which our family feels is a clear conflict of interest since it was the Staye who had determined he was safe for the streets. He was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years. He died at year 17. He was batpoop crazy the entire time. My mom of course kept putting money in his commissary monthly. She visited him a few times in the early years. She took phone calls from him. She called me to help her order books that he asked her for from Amazon.
      Mom and Dad had done everything for him his whole life, whether cleaning his apartment or buying groceries, after the state hospital he was in for KIDNAPPING A CHILD, closed. For all the years leading up to hospitalization, they dealt with violence in our home. The cops were very familiar with us.
      It was a hellish life for all of us, my bro included. The Judicial system is not capable of handling mentally ill people. We as a society must demand that our insanely high tax dollars be used EFFICIENTLY for a legit mental health care system.
      I appreciate this judge's ability to even talk to this woman. It's impressive and so very kind.

    • @brentfarvors192
      @brentfarvors192 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jen12234 Unfortujately, the state doesn't have a choice...State hospitals cost $500,000 a year per patient, and prison only costs $50,000.00 per inmate; The results (and living conditions) are pretty much identical...Your brother wasn't safe enough to be on the street. The state fixed that problem...He wouldn't take his meds regardless of where he was. He was suffering with an uncurable illness. He is no longer suffering. End of. Jist be glad it wasn't untreatable cancer; MUCH WORSE!!

      When the large majority of federally-financed mental institutions were closed in the early-to-mid-‘80s, it was so short-sighted. Predicted was: an increase in the homeless population, and people needing help like Ms. Garza. And, it’s so obviously happened.
