Great time. The threat of nuclear war was receding, everyone knew the difference between males and females, and that cluster frack known as grunge hadn't happened yet. Life was good.

I was 19 girl in 1991
REM and Happy Mondays and Jellyfish were signaling a definite tone change in pop music at this time. The dance pop brought on by janet madonna and paula andul would soon take a backseat.
Shows that "hair bands" were in decline even before Nirvana blew up.
A lot of the songs here sound pretty interchangeable from them. When all you have is your hairstyles to stand out from each other instead of the music, eventually you'll lose. Nirvana's form of rock as well as other bands that ushered in that grunge sound brought out a ton of emotion that wasn't felt with 80s hair bands aside from maybe Metallica but Metallica doesn't really fit with that either.
@@RSully94 great point.
1:09 A Simpsons sone in?!
why not
An era without streaming and look how good is this chart ,, comparing to what we have this week in 2023 a chart full of repetitive forgettable songs thank to tik tok 🤦♂️
A lot of songs on here aren't exactly close to good here though either.
@@RSully94 how many good songs does the billboard hot 100 have this week?
@@slimboy00000 about 20. That's still more than what this chart has. The chart nerd in me is always curious to check out music before my time but a lot of songs here just sound dated and I only like a small handful from this particular chart.
@@RSully94 ok...
@honestpage82 what you are saying about 2023 is also subjective. Just saying..
So many hair bands
Not for Iong......
The Vocal Trinity all over the place in this countdown. Multiple entries for Celine (3) Whitney (3) & Mariah (2). Those were the days...
