I am now 63 years old. I remember watching this on TV and was blown away. At that time, we had never seen anything like this. His costume, makeup and body movements mesmerized us all. Still love watching it to this day. Great job, Doug!
He poured more emotion into the song than the actual video! He gave a stellar performance and a glimpse into the violence an actual combat soldier would have gone through but not as graphic! One could only imagine!

I remember this as i was a teenager at the time!! My mom and I used to watch POTH every Saturday night. 3-Ds choreography is absolutely perfect and what a fantastic idea to present this song with the makeup, fatigues, and the robotic movements. Brilliant!!! Thanks for this fantastic stroll down memory lane and yes I have rewatched this a couple hundred times and smile during each replay!!

I remember hearing this song on the radio. It's great that your dad brought it to life onstage. Especially the Post traumatic stress disorder some vets have suffered with for years. He made it so real. Thanx for sharing this video.😊

I am in U.K listened to this record in 80s and played this at disco's and watched people trying their best to do robotics to this and many other tracks..I came across this on youtube 3years ago and keep watching this it makes me smile .This is great.His moves are the best.
Your Dad did awesome. I was in the military and would listen to the soldiers tell me about their stories about Vietnam. Years later one of their stories probably saved my life. I was informed to always stay in the tracks of the vehicle in front of me.
Some of the best moves synced with music I've ever seen. There should be a documentary where he talks about how he prepared for this, if he was nervous, what was it like after the fact.💖💖💖

Classic !! I remember going out to the clubs in sac town when I lived there during these times and saw 3-D win most of the awards at lip sync contest. Everyone used to say he should compete nationally. He did end up wining there too.
I was just a kid when i saw this awesome performance on the TV we had when we had with Rabbit Ears for Antenna. Puttin on the Hits was awesome i always watched it. This man was so talented in a haunting way. Puts chills up my spine. Everytime my Dad would go to the Army Surplus Store to buy something ...i would always think of this man for some reason.
