    So many people doing that new-jack swing r&b sound. And I don’t even remember half of those songs.

    Out of the top 40, 10 songs this week were the only top 40 hit those artists had.

    I think this was a transitional year for music and it really started to change over to alternative in 1993.

    • @imalwaysright
      @imalwaysright ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Transitional was what I was thinking too. The big divas were quiet this year. Janet, Mariah, Toni would be huge in 93, then Celine end of 93-94. For the R&B scene, new jack swing was coming to an end, and we were gonna end get the smooth r&b (again Janet, Toni, more Boyz II Men)

    Thanks for this great video. For sure there's many classic songs. But I hace to mention Erótica and This Used to be My Playground by The Queen Madonna ...her Best years. Patty Smith's Sometime love just ain't enought who sadly and surprisingly missed #1. And the fabulous En Vogue...THE VOICES ...they were so talented and so unique

    Thank you for this upload. 'Flex' by Mad Cobra...yes that's interesting with the subject content but I do like the song. A tasteful version of slackness. This is very much a transitional period as the 90s was still getting settled. The Madonna song 'This Used To Be My Playground' is absolutely beautiful and the film it came from was very good too. Eeeeww R Kelly! I don't want to know. 'Baby Got Back' wasn't even a hit in the UK. One of Celine's most underrated songs with 'Nothings Broken But My Heart' despite the corny video. 'Life Is A Highway' wasn't a hit here in the UK, but became famous thanks to a Family Guy episode. 'Stay' by Shakespeare's Sister is divine. My second favourite. My favourite is the classic and a song I want played either at my wedding (if it ever happens) or funeral. That's the beautiful 'November Rain' by Guns N Roses. One of my all time favourite songs. Just a masterpiece.
    This was a good time for black girl groups and I love TLC and En Vogue. Mary J's debut is cool and 'Real Love' is a classic. Great #1 btw.

    For an american chart and being the billboard 100 , i'm surprised by the great variety of music in that time charting at the same time! But we all know what happens from 1993 onwards 🤷....

    Wasn't Madonna's "Erotica" the highest new entry ever until then? In directly at 13!! Next week it jumped to 3!!
    Shame the rnb competition was super tough and the SEX backlash kicked in and instead of jumping to 1, it fell 2 to 5 the following week.

    Poor period in terms of songs, personnaly few songs sill attract my attention, just Madonna with "this used to be my playground" who was so in advance in 1992

      En Vogue, TLC, Boyz II Men, Madonna Erotica album, some 90s dance. But I agree it's not the best year.
