Koio has made waves as the go-to minimalist white sneaker for guys that love a clean aesthetic and Italian craftsmanship but don't want to pay $450 for Common Projects. For a always on fashion shoe I guess the best description is timeless!
Also, a video cleaning those sneakers would get some views, especially without any kind of voice, 10/10 would watch 😂
This shoe is even better in real life. You can feel and see the craftsmanship. I didn’t buy cleaners but I will because this is a shoe you want to always have ready to go.
how is this style of shoes for walking, and is it kind on the heels? I'm interested but concerned about the flat/zero drop nature.
Rose Anvil does a great job of explaining the materials, as he LITERALLY CUTS THEM IN HALF, and these shoes are actually better than any common projects, canada goose, etc. mainly from the margom outsole and chrome tanned leather
he hasn't done anything with canada goose. and he didn't say they're better, they're just basically the same shoe at a cheaper price point

I don't have the Capri, but I have the Verse high top and the Avalanche runner. Definitely size up on the Verse, and the Avalanche will fit TTS for narrow feet, but size up for wide feet. If the capris is similar to the Verse (which I would think it is), definitely size up!

Or it's because my stuff is very SEO-based so it's less clicky/has less broad appeal. Could you do a review someday on sneakers from GORAL, not necessarily for minimalist, although they do have an all-white sneaker ? Excellent craftsmanship, Bison leather, and can be re-crafted. Thanks.
Would love to see a review of the Thursday sneakers. The quality is apparently on-par with the Italian made shoes but it's extremely cheap.

Very nice review Nick. I learned a lot about Koio Sneaker’s during the video. Being that the sneakers are Italian made, it seems that sub $250 is a reasonable price point for these well made sneakers. I understand that the owners have found some venture capital money which is not a problem with me. Still, I wonder how actively involved the founders are in day to day decisions about the company. Hey i got a question, how do you take care of white sneakers? Would it be the same as any other pair of leather shoes?
I have a white canvas pair of low top sneakers from new republic that I absolutely love wearing because of how clean looking they are, but unfortunately I’ve noticed the quality becoming poor after only owning it for about 9-10 months. The material is starting to peel on the bottom and there’s already that crack between the shoe and outer sole as if they’re shoes I’ve owned for years which I’ve got a pair of grey converse I’ve had for 2-3 years now that hasn’t even begun to do that. So this review definitely convinced me to buy some higher quality white sneakers. I own leather boots, but have strayed away from leather sneakers not sure as to why. I normally like the look and wear of canvas material in sneakers more than leather. Granted when and if I buy these, I’m not gonna replace my high top nor low top casual canvas sneakers with leather shoes. It’ll sure be exciting tho to have a nice pair of leather sneakers like these tho! Awesome review!
Sorry to hear it, it's hard to get canvas sneakers that are made to last. Nothing New is a new brand that look like Chucks but they're stitched construction, definitely worth checking out: www.nothingnew.com
Personally, I would choose durability over feel. I don't mind if it's cowhide and not calf leather. It will be subject to stress and movement every time I take a step. It's a shoe, it will go on my feet and have contact with the pavement; it's not something I will be rubbing my face against. So yeah, Koio actually not using calf is a plus for me.
Haha I totally get it! Brock at Modest Man says the same thing. It depends on how slipper-like you want your shoes to feel I guess, as a guy who always wears boots it doesn't bother me.

Man I'm now waiting for my Oliver Cabells, which will be my first pair of premium minimalist sneakers. One important question: since we don't really resolve sneakers, why would try to extend the leather durability with conditioners, etc, if the sole is going to wear out in fewer years than the upper?

Hi Nick it's a shame your information regarding sizing is not more detailed, considering for many people this is one of the most important aspects. You say you are a half size and that it's a shame that Koio don't provide them in 11.5, yet you also said that the 12 "fits you well" and did not list any negatives. So does that mean the 12 are actually perfect? If not why not?
Great review. I like koios in different color ways but the white capris Don’t even compare to common projects are far as looks.

I actually like the look of the Triple White Capris more than Common Projects. The Koios are low profile and minimalistic, but they don't look as long as the Common Projects. I also have big feet for my height, and I don't want to accentuate that. I'm also not a fan of the gold numbers on the Common Projects.

Koio is leaner, less bulky, and it has a simpler aesthetic - Greats have holes, stripey seams on the side, etc. I haven't tried Greats in a long time to compare the comfort but I'm planning on getting a video on them up this summer!

Stridewise I just had a pair of Artisan Labs arrive today from a killer eBay find. I was the only bid and caught a great deal. Anyways they are EXACTYLY what I have been looking for. Very slim, and no visible branding whatsoever. Leather is butter too, cheers!

Common Projects are $400+ brand new (although you can get them between 270-320 on sale if you are quick)
No Common Projects is $400, Oliver. Cabell is like $188! Koio has a bit more body to it than Oliver Cabell, more padding on the heel and a bit on the upper. They're both great, honestly. I guess I prefer Koio's fewer eyelets. It's a slightly more casual shoe.
Koio Capri go up to size 16 now.

Oddly enough, I go from 8-8.5 on most shoes, but got 7 on my koio shoes which fits well

Stitched soles are rare in sneakers? What about most classic models like Puma Suede, AF1, Stan Smith, Superstar? They are not Koio Capri quality, but this aspect is pretty common

dude u need a shoe tree man (or at least use the tissue paper that comes with it), that helps maintain the shape, leather quality and take out moisture --> your shoes look like new for much longer
I heard that #shade in your voice when you said they didn't have to be veg tanned leather. 😇 Don't fall into the "made in Italy" trap - something made in Italy isn't necessarily better than if it were made in China. However, yes, in general, the working conditions are fair... for white Italians. Please just google: "The Chinese Workers Who Assemble Designer Bags in Tuscany." I'm not saying KOIO is exploiting Chinese labor in Italy for that "made in Italy" label but I am saying don't be naïve to the industry over a label.
Yes, and like, it's not hard to find abhorrent abuses of labor laws in the US and Australia and every country, but the laws are much more worker friendly in Italy and places get audited more often and so on. Like nowhere's perfect but Italy is miles better than Vietnam. I can't imagine who you think I'm throwing shade at with the veg tan line ;)

These shoes aren’t even good anymore, in my opinion the new “Gen 2” version is absolute trash. They removed the margom sole, with some cheap sole. Had them for 3-4 months outer sole already wearing out. Definitely not worth it for nearly $300.

This video is useless this is like giving first time homeowners advice. It’s just a pair of shoes get over it more than likely people who are watching his videos live on the coastal side buy a pair use them and then buy another pair once or twice a year‘s not gonna hurt besides, if you can buy a pair of these shoes, you shouldn’t have to worry about maintenance on them. That’s just my ideology. It’s not a piece of property you’re buying just a pair of shoes wear them. Use them when they get old. Repeat the process by another.
