Crown Northampton Cordovan Review - Common Projects use to be known as the highest quality sneaker in the world but that was before I cut apart a pair of Crown Northamptons during the white sneaker series. After I cut apart several white sneakers I chose Crown Northampton as the overall winner because they balanced the look, quality, and durability better than any other shoe. So when I heard they were working on a secret sneaker made from cordovan I had to get my hands on a pair. After a little convincing Crown Northampton sent me 2 pairs of sneakers, a pair made from hroweens shell cordovan and a pair of vegetable tan white leather sneakers. I felt like it was a sin to cut in half a pair of cordovan shoes so instead I dissected them.

Their not worth the money for the quality and they don’t look good with any outfit. I’m sick of shoes being so overpriced, hyped up shoes suck their not even worth the price, this shoe isn’t even hyped up though.

I really hope that buying directly from artisans will become the new norm again, at least to a higher degree than it is now.
I am from Italy and I have seen many shoe and boots manufacturers disappear because most people buy crappier footwear for the same price of amazing footwear, just for the convenience of buying them from the nearest footwear shop and obviously marketing.
I am scared of a world where every product is crap quality because of these "convenience" and "hype" based market revolutions. I am sick of quality going down, I want better, not worse.
    Support your favorite artisans.
Edit - for those who comment saying I am privileged/insane: while I understand that reading is a skill that you may not have, I recommend you read the comments below if you can.
You can indeed buy artisan-made boots and shoes that cost less than or as much as "readily available" boots and shoes from general retailers. How is this possible? When you buy from an artisan you're paying for the high quality work and materials, you're not paying for huge marketing budgets, several employees, etc.
When you dismiss the possibility that you can have better for less or the same price, you are unfortunately not doing anyone, not even yourself, any favor.

And when resources are scarce you want the things you make using them to last literally forever if possible, so the artisans who take basic ass materials and know how to turn them into super durable things that last hundreds of years suddenly become the most valuable members of society period.

I'm glad I watched the full video and heard you say the intent of this "sneaker" was to combine the best of both. Little bit of a sneaker, dress shoe, can be worn as casual or biz and work either way. Because as first, IMO, looked like literally a fun toned-down dress shoe due to the color/size/txtr of the outsole. Kinda like Vans and a highender had an Unexplanned X-Men. I don't know still not my style personally. Seems like good quality obviously. Just definitely not a regular pair of sneakers. A polo/button down, slacks or jeans and those shoes, some ppl could pull off jeans and a T. I can't 4sure 1000% pull off the vibe and get away with it

I bought their cordovan sneakers. You can ask me anything but here’s my TL;DR experience from owning a pair for a few weeks:
    - The sneakers are pretty stiff so driving with them is awkward, you’d definitely feel constrained if you want to be adventurous with your foot movement.
    - The Sneakers are extremely soft, you’ll feel every bump on the floor and even your car’s gas, break, gear pedal if you’re driving.
    - Cordovan scratches as easily as normal leather so you definitely want to get the dyed crème and Napa crème from crown’s store if you’re conscious of that.
-Keeping in mind the thickness of the sneakers, they are pretty comfortable and you do get the “fits like a glove” sensation as described in the video.

I think everyone will be very disappointed by the tabis. In order to have that unique split toe construction, the soles have to be cemented onto the leather. Obviously they're not shoes that are meant for everyday wear, so having them be resoleable isn't exactly a priority, but the nice leather upper (as well as your 700 or so dollars) will go to waste as soon as the pretty thin outsole wears through.

@@theohaschronic9341 You’re definitely in the minority on that one. But hey, good taste comes with age and experience as with all things.

@@spbynum No it’s all subjective..you don’t just gain good taste with age. Many people would agree this shoe is a plain, boring style.

Love this. You're really paying for quality rather than brand, so nice to see. Just seeing how hard it was for you to take them apart, that alone really speaks to their quality!

I got a pair of these and re-watching this, feel the pain of the tear down. But I wouldn't have got it if not for you doing this. so thanks!

That was fascinating. I have a new way of looking at shoe quality. They seem to be value priced after watching the dissection.
