How to counter Stealth Helicopters in Battlefield 2042

- Today I’m gonna show you how you can counter the two new helicopters in Battlefield 2042, especially when they are in their stealth mode and you can’t lock-on to them with the Soflam, XML or other anti-air missiles.

Hey guys, just a little correction. You need to disable a part of the heli to break the stealth mechanically. That‘s why the normal AT-Ammo doesn’t work. Still the gadgets I explained (like Lis Rocket Launcher, NTW or AT Ammo of the Wildcat) all work to break the stealth since they will break parts.
I was about to say that. AP rounds definitely work, you just need to hit the rotor enough. For snipers that only takes 2 shots, but even the ARs should be able to knock out the rotor in 6~8 hits and thus break stealth.
Also worth noting is that many vehicle cannons and unguided rockets will also break the stealth, while the TOW option on the hovercraft and Bolte will one-shot them. This includes all the 30mm, 40mm and 50mm autocannons; 60mm flak and mortar pods; 40mm grenade launchers; barrage rockets and rocket pod as well as all the rockets you can pick on your other helis. If they've got no other targets or you don't mind getting in close then you can also use the active radar missiles from the jets as they can be used as dumb-fire missiles, but they'll always try to find their own lock target which can make them tricky to use.
Just some things that weren't mentioned.

Fully outdated you just gave stealth helis useful info how not be bad plus they can counter that by going very fast and fly above you and go in circles in other words this video is no longer useful
I do feel that the stealth should have a cool down if it's been hit by something beforehand and have a time limit with a longer cool down. The fact that people can pop flares and immediately go in to stealth to Regen armor is ridiculous. Another workaround would be stealth or flares, not both on this chopper.
The thing is the stealth mode is countered by using rao. It takes maybe 3 seconds to hack the chopper and it’s out of stealth mode. Giving the most useless specialist some use finally.
@@TheRisible I have seen pilots immediately pop flares then run now. Rao's special doesn't disrupt flares, and given the speed of the heli it's well out of range and their stealth will be off cooldown shortly after that. I've had more success using the M5 against them since it is a 1-hit it works out.
@@SquanchyCatDad If you have 3 Rao's constantly hacking the heli along with AA rockets, the heli will never be able to do anything other than fly high above everything and only drop bombs
@@veritasabsoluta4285 I played Rao for over 3 hours today, not once the hacking disrupted the flares, right after hacking I had friends targeting and shooting at it, but instant flares. If you look at ea forum, there are tons of people complaining that it should last 8 seconds, but it´s totally bugged and works almost never. It tells you it`s hacked but it´s actually not. Somehow with tanks and jeeps it worked almost every time
What servers are you guys playing in?!?! I get shot at by two support vehicles attack copter or jet, 6 tv missiles, and 5 stingers the second I spawn in one.
Yeah by allowing any specialist to take anti vehicle weapons they ruined vehicle play, they need to increase vehicle amounts to counter this

I've taken out quite a few helicopters (not just the stealth ones) using the 50mm cannon on the LATV Recon.
The 50mm cannon takes a pretty long time to unlock but once you have it, you can be a real menace to any helicopter that is daring enough to fly low or slow. I think four shots from the cannon will down the stealth helis.
Just beware that that the LATV is a glass cannon and you will not stand a chance from even a single strafing run! Try to get the element of surprise by parking your vehicle in hidden spots (could try snipe it from far distances but the cannon shell is pretty slow) because in a 1vs1 fight you most likely get killed by the helicopter's 30mm cannons.
Any good pilot will wreck that paper mache truck.
imo the AP ammo for any rifle should be reworked same with the high power mags there is no meaningfull use for them same with the NTW kinda nice but doesnt impact anything enough to be worth using but thats just my opinion
No no, it’s not just yours. I agree. AP ammo is just not worth the trade for pretty much any of the other ammo, especially since it also reduces infantry damage.
It delays the vehicle's regen and will actually do a fair bit of damage if you aim it right, if you focus fire in specific parts you can even cause disables. If you played BF1 then you should be familiar with the K bullets, you use the AP rounds the same way.
The AP rounds also carry a damage multiplier against armor plates, but you're better off just using other bullets because the multiplier is so small and armor breaks right away anyway. Might be more useful if it actually did what it said on the tin and punched through light cover.

I just got served by a duo in the stealth copter. It sucks cause no one works together. Plus there is no incentive to do so. So o.p. heli is here to stay cause new dice does not know what they are doing.

Rao is one of the best of most underrated specialists. You can easily get as many assists as caspers drone and take care of vehicles for team mates.
Right, but the game is forcing you to play a way because otherwise the game is unplayable because the chopper owns everyone. I dont want to spend 30 minutes chasing down a helicopter because it is too OP. The game mode is CONQUEST, not take down the copper.
4:39 this is definitely my preferred method of taking down a heli, although it does take some time to learn how much to lead your shots!
Haha, this is completely broken. I just played Breakthrough and the defenders did not have any useful vehicles at their disposal to counter the stealth heli. Nothing could attack it. Rao is rarely played and even with him the heli just flared before the hack completed and flew away and came back again. This guranteed the stealth heli and his gunner to kill at minimum 2 people every flyby while being completly unvulnerable. Completely broken. The guy had 100 kills and zero deaths at the end :D:D:D:D:
One workaround should be increasing the hitbox of these choppers, so if they get a shot in any part of it would a 1 hit kill. Stealth heli should not have flares since it already have his counter to lock on and it's way to fast to run away.

Man they really screwed up balance making this game. That stealth mode should have a limit via cool down like everything else.
I actually did not know there was a mechanical way to break the stealth mode, or even the fact that the pocket TV Missile has a boost lol!

Also last time I commented I asked about physical last gen transfer to digital new gen. Do you have the resources to test this out to see if it indeed works? Sorry for asking about it so much but I really want to be sure I won’t loss my hard earned unlocks.
I answered you on your last comment. However I don’t have the same situation myself, but when I check on Xbox all of my progression and skins are there that I unlocked on PC. The only thing that is not there is the Battlefield Currency.
A broader place to find info is the forums on EA Battlefield. I think it's more fair to search there, than to expect one content provider to have the time to look into hundreds of comments and questions weekly. Good 🤞
I lost my unlocks on distance scopes on all assault weapons, 50 kills at 100+m etc. I know the feeling of losing unlocks. But hey, if they were that good and important, doing some again, isn't that hard. Maybe harder searching for ways around it, tbh
@@TheCadWoman ehh good enough for me. I have a video idea tho. It’s involves the 12 m Auto and how with slug shells it can act like a two shoting full auto marksman with way more bullet drop. Seriously it’s really good
Except AA launchers lack the range and helis will outrange you with their weapons. They can farm inf on many maps without counters that way. Bad balance.

are you 100% sure of the hack disabling the weapons and flares? I have hacked many choppers in the game and they have always had flares to counter missiles.
They can see when the hacking starts so when they start the flares before you have finished hacking they still work.
@@TheCadWoman no, it's after the hack and I switch to my AA rocket, after I lock on and fire, they start launching flares
Small tip at all the heli mains like me if you see that you get hacked theres no real counter to it but if you immediately drop the flares the flares ar still active wile you ar hacked and its usually enough time to get to cover or out of range to wait for the reset of the flares

Yeah it's one of the reasons I'd like to see the cooldown on flares increased. Combined with helis now having auto repair usually the best you can achieve is to get rid of the pests for about 15-20 seconds and then they're back spamming rockets at you.
Back in my day in BC2 the heli whores had to at least put down and whip out a repair tool if you managed to damage em.
@@ClassyJackBF in my opinion they completely screwed over the vehicle balance having to chose from a class of vehicles comes with a lot of problems in bf4 you had a specific amount of certen amount of specific vehicles like 1 attack heli one stealth jed 2 little birds the thing is there was always a counter to everything available, jet counters heli, heli counters tanks, tanks counters infrantrie but in 2042 where every one is is flying 1 attack aircraft and one transport they had to be strong because theres only on and they had no real counter because you have to choose of 4 different vehicles if it was the system of bf4 that wouldn't be a problem same thing with transport because of 128 players they had to be tanky but now with only one enemy attack aircraft there ar no jets to counter or its rare thats why they ar so strong especially the russian superhind the balancing isnt that difficult just turn down every air vehicle a bit and try the bf4 system or at least try it dice pls
Im a chopper main and i love the new helis but i can see the frustration in infrantrie players and I dont want a infrantrie farming sim its fun but not a healthy way to go

@@KOI-nx8do Hau die Infanterie Casuals, die nur lock-on können, des Grauens weg. Die haben es nicht verdient, dass man seinen Spielstil für die anpasst. Reicht schon, dass das ganze Spiel nur für die designed wird und Leute, die ein Luftfahrzeug lernen, werden immer weiter betsraft. Der Nerf der 30mm Pods sorgt im Endeffekt nur dafür, dass die Piloten .50 nehmen und besser aimen und gepaart mit dem Vehicle Slot System (was durch das geringe Angebot von Slots, die Piloten in den Lobbies absolut elitär macht) so eine noch größere Gefahr darstellen.
Es gibt eben kein Mehrebenen Gameplay für den Helipiloten in 2042, wie in früheren Teilen mit Schere-Stein-Papier Balance (Jet kontert Heli kontert Panzer...). Einfach gegnerisches Luftfahrzeug erledigen und die Anti Air, wenn das Gegnerteam so viele Gehirnzellen besitzen, die zu picken und danach gib ihnen.
if you are in the US side and want to use the Apache I advise to use 127 mm their accurate and high velocity it can take down those stealth choppers, just aim it and press the trigger let that missile attack its target. I have used the new helo but I wanted to know if an attack helicopter with a bit of armor can take down a new stealth chopper chances are 100% if you are good at shooting it down. Same goes with Kamov actually you are in luck since the Kamov has a high firing 30mm that machine gun can take down that new Helo within seconds.

Bring back role/class for soldiers and limit the soflam to recons or even subdivide recon into subclasses like pathfinder and sniper and limit soflam to one of them, and give spotters on vehicles the ability to lock on. What do you think?

You can switch to the stealth mode at any time. Even if something is locked on to you. But when you turn it off or someone breaks it it has cooldown.

You have two sounds while get locked 1 before rocket shot one after release of rocket. Does stealth help in any of this situation?

I miss one specialist with automatic AA turret or something like boris but with AA gun.
You can shoot at aircrafts with Crawfords turret. It’s not automatic though.
I had no idea hacking broke stealth. I just thought it was useless since it only screws thongs up for several seconds and helicopters can still shoot flares.
if you have the skill use the re5 launcher to shoot it down
Could use some advice. I currently own the base game and i have been contemplating since i bought the game on whether to upgrade to gold or ultimate editions.
I wanted to wait and see where the game direction was heading hence why i went for the base back last year when it was on discount. Much to the dismay of many players who pre-ordered and paid lots for a game in a very bad state last year.
So right now I'm just grinding xp to get to as many tiers as I can before deciding whether to just buy season 1 premium pass, vs gold edition vs ultimate.
Ultimate seems unnecessary as you get some extra skins along with art books and soundtracks.
I am hoping to wait and see the next updates to come up on 2042 and hear for any new announcements from the devs on 2042 before making a decision. So would appreciate your thoughts @TheCadWoman.
A discount to upgrade to any of the editions would definitely be the one I'm looking for, but no telling if that will ever happen. Its 49.90 for the gold and 69.90 for ultimate.
I paid 49.90 for the base when it was at abt 33% off.
Ultimate seems like a waste for that price. I bought the game on origin. So far have yet to see a discount when upgrading editions. Wonder would that even happen. So far discounts appear when you buy the standalone game or the editions itself. Not as an upgrade.
I would not recommend to buy the Ultimate or Gold now. If you like the Battlepass cosmetics just buy the battlepass and then buy the next one with the currency you own from the current one. But you can also wait and buy the pass shortly before the end of the season if you are not sure yet.

The best way to put one down is Rao + Stinger or the 60mm flak in vehicles.
Great tips cad! Especially useful as a heli pilot! Just btw it’s a cyber suit not suite. One is clothes the other is a room with a bathroom inside. Like business suit and penthouse suite yk
No it‘s actually a suite. I got this corrected so many times in comments on my Rao video, so I checked it as well and it‘s indeed a suite. At least according to the in-game description. 🤷♀️
A suite can be a room, but it's also a term used for software/hardware packages. It just means that it's a complete bundle.
Cyber "suite" is correct in this context.

Unfortunately not.
It's a good video, and I hope more people see it to counter the helis. However, especially the method of hacking with Rao is very flawed. Good pilots will not care about hacks, they just get away super quick so flares are ready until the rocket arrives, hide behind cover, etc. I have played Rao consistenly since the stealth helicopter came out and it's by far not as easy as you make it seem here. Even for normal helicopters, pilots just flare shortly before your hacking is done and then you still can't lock onto them.
How do you unlock the steath helicopter
The are easy picking for the jet you break the stealth with the 30 mm Canon and kill it with rockets.
SOFLAM isnt big problem, most of time i play, at least 10 guys with the M5 ready to hunt down the chopper, the only thing i need is just breaking it steath with NTW.

I’ve already master the helicopter and there only one problem explosives mg can kill Infaniary so fast and there’s also the fact that the pilot can be super accurate with the explosives mg so these tips are 90% of the time good but then there’s people who are gods with the new explosive mg and that’s the problem

Side note - Ever since the latest update, I have never been able to get my hands on a chopper...I would love to try out these new choppers in a Conquest match, but no luck.
Have you went to solos to get it fully upgraded if not I highly recommend doing that because the mg is ok ish.
I agree, that it's too hard getting a heli. Not to mention on Breakthrough, there's no option. On BT on other maps it's better with more vehicles. That's how I like it

Try practicing in Solo bot mode.Look up videos on how to fly choppers in BF 2042.Most of them suggest changing the controls so that they're more like BF4.On console this means you use the triggers to ascend and descend and left bumper to shoot.I learnt how to pilot them after a few hours on solo bot mode.
Change the controls dude it changes so much. On controller I have the triggers for ascend and descend, bumpers for turning left and right, left analogue forward pitches down, backwards pitches up, left rolls left and right rolls right. I have the X or A button depending on your controller for firing and the square or X button for changing weapon. It's so good for dogfighting other aircraft or being precise with ground targets. If there's nothing around worrying me I can even cap objectives lol

Helicopters need removed and reevaluated. Aa missiles are useless... It's also from their lack of options... Heat sealing heads are one thing.... They need to have chaff or flares for different missiles. And allowed to only take one of them. Their health is way to high and they need to let small arms cause damage to them again. They run around with complete impunity in most of the games I've been in
Somebody’s probably never played battlefield 4 or 3 Nobody ever complained about helicopters in those games and a good pilot could absolutely wrecker a server. There’s nothing that needs to be balanced people just don’t know how to counter them there are multiple things in this game That can take helicopters out there’s no reason or anything you can do to balance them out most of the people causing havoc on the servers are good pilots and have lots of hours of experience to get where they’re at most people can’t do that once you get good at something you should be able to Reck havoc on the game Doesn’t mean it’s over powered. Once people actually start playing as a team in this game nothing will be over powered in fact people will be complaining but the game is not balanced very properly because vehicles will be a thing of the past tanks are already useless in this game they die way too fast.

Yeah, but then as soon as they see they're getting hacked then they can just fire their flares and fly very quickly behind cover, and the cycle repeats

Can Sundance Grenades lock onto them while in Stealth Mode?! I assure not, but her's don't require a lock on, similarly to the BOLTE
Sundance‘s grenades can’t lock on when the heli is im stealth.

YA NO theyse things straight up need a nerf to their stealth mode, it should last only for a few seconds, OR certain equipment should still be able to lock onto it even with stealth, IE soflam,
i just dealth with one of these things in the hands of a good pilot and it was straight up impossible to bring down because even if you break its stealth they will just pop flares while speeding away.til the flares and stealth recover
frankly ALL helicoprters need limited Flares. Transport helos are just cancer to deal with as their super tanky heavily armed and there flares act as ECM's as well.
these things are not fun to deal with, exspeccially if the only vehicle youre team chooses to use is a Tank, locking you out of the AA vehicle.
and even then have fun trying to kill it with just the main gun as it bombs youf rom afar and from high up in stealth mode.

Rao is the counter
... if you hack it it just runs out of range or uses flares ... if you damage it it still just pops flares and hides ... then its in stealth mode again
not to mention it can bomb from out of range of everything ... absolutely garbage game design ...
to those of you who got 3 lucky kills with Lis on stationary heli with new player ... grow up it can easily evade the rocket since the turn radius of lis rocket is just a joke

Who wants to spend the whole match chasing down OP helicopters? It is boring as f. I have been playing a lot, and I usually am a top 5 player in conquest, but the helicopters just make the game boring. Im tired of seeing 100-0 by helicopters, if it gets normal, it is of course OP, no way around it. You cant force players to spend the whole match chasing down a stupid heli, again, it is BORING, the chopper player will end up 1rst with 100-5 TOPS and you will end up with 6 o 7 kills just because you spent the whole match chasing helicopters down. And the counters are not really that effective, given that you are much more exposed as INFANTRY or even tanks. And how are we supposed to make "team work" when no one answers in chat (by default it is hidden) and audio was not an initial feature so it is also HIDDEN by default.
I enjoyed this game a lot, but lately the chopper frenzy has fed me up. I dont enjoy spending the whole matching fighting 1 dude on a heli that probably sucks when playing infantry. If the game forces you to spend all your time chasing the OP vehicle, it is bad.
