Thankful that Dice included it in this version of BF. Me & my friend usually do a round or two of Co-op with bots set to advanced level to warm up & have fun getting tons of kills before venturing into the online servers.
Whenever I play against AI they immediately take all the vehicles, then fly around not doing sh** (while the enemy AI are wrecking my team). Once they take damage they immediately bail, which often gifts the vehicle to the enemies. My own tip: When using rifle aim set the pilot sensitivity to something below 100%. Holding a/d will still roll at the same, maximum speed. But you gain the ability to do finer adjustments to your roll when just tapping a/d. [EDIT] I was wrong: While vehicle aim affects your 360/cm distance needed for turns as a pilot, pilot sensitivity does not only affect keyboard inputs but also how much the helicopter reacts to slower mouse movements. I will be using 100% pilot sensitivity as a result. Using 100% pilot sensitivity feels a lot more like mouse movements being used directly for aim making it more reactive and easier. Really happy I watched this vid now, thanks Silk and Reaps!
I went 100 mainly because my mouse responses felt more instant and less delayed, the lower you go the finer keyboard adjustments but the less instant mouse response, also found I turned slower but each to their own, ill do more testing.
@@x8reaps Man I am glad i made this comment then. Hi, Could u tell me how u can edit Yaw to a mousemovement? Is there a hidden option, because i just keep moving my mouse up and down and nothing changes...
I actually use rifle aim for Jets and helis, it's actually easier for me to use it in jets lol. I just got used to it from using legacy southpaw on controller in airplanes so it was easier to adjust when I made those changes on MKB
@@trevorhenson759 go into key bindings, find yaw, clear them in the buttons, click on the mouse column, then just swing it right lol, should work. Make sure to unselect roll on the mouse column too. My mouse only controls yaw click for fire and zoom, W and S control pitch up and down.
Thanks for the tips! About binding certain mouse-keys, try changing them under the keyboard tab instead of mouse, worked for me for some reason (for page up-page down)
This def helped me. Having space/control for pitch is like ghost recon wildlands/breakpoint and other games and is much more intuitive than the default. And using A and D instead of mouse to yaw instead of roll...so much easier. New people always flip right over because it's only normal to press A or D to try and steer.
Had the same issue with key binds... delete the cache folder in my doc/ bf2042. Won't delete the rest of your key binds and you will be able to bind pilot controls to the mouse.
Im missing heli movement. How to dodge attacks, how to position against dogfights, how to quickly gain top speed, turns etc. I had the same problem with keybinds to mouse. Fixed when disconnecting my controller. When i disconnected the controller i was able to bind chase camera to mousebuttons
I changed my controls so i got roll at A and D and yaw on Q and E, also switched the mouse left/right to Yaw instead of roll. Makes it much easier to fly and aim with the mouse.
As someone who played Battlefield 2 since 2007 and alot of Battlefield 3 + BFBC2 at its peak, I can say with confidence that attack helicopters are the most important asset in the series. In BF2 a good pilot+gunner could decimate armoured vehicles with ease (TV guided missiles are strong), while staying alive to finish off infantry that could barely fight back. In Battlefield 3 and in BFBC2 it was easier to retaliate against them, but attack helis would eat alot of tickets before going down, and would eat many more when up again. I would say in BF2 it was 1/2 attack helicopter effort, 1/2 the rest of the team. In BF3 it was 1/3 attack helicopter and 2/3 the rest of the team. In Battlefield 2042 it seems to be balanced like Battlefield 3, what do you think?
Going to try and apply this to my settings and gameplay. Only issues I've seen is that stick controls are wonky as at the moment. There's a weird setting that lets you choose how much vertical and horizontal inputs cancel each other out on joysticks. But it's totally broken so when you have it on it makes it nearly impossible to move your vehicle. But if you set your deadzones to low it causes phantom movements. So you have to have the X,Y on a little bit. Basically, if you have any amount of joystick drift you are totally screwed vehicle wise.
There's many games that won't let you bind mouse buttons...just set mouse key binds using your mouse software as 0,9,8, etc and now the game sets these keys as your binds.
Hey, could you maybe do a beginner guide on how to actually fly an heli and a jet? I am a beginner and I have no clue on how to fly those vehicles :/ that would be really great
ya i use the "rifle aim" keybinds; i just can't get used to rolling with the mouse, it's so finicky, i've crashed more times than getting shot down lol i wish they used Warthunder's control schemes though, it's more intuitive that way
What setting do you turn on/off for mini bird crosshairs to only show a dot when using the rocket pods? Stock shows the 2 vertical lines with how many rockets you have left. I feel it’s a bit distracting and I like how you are able to see better.
There is a way to dodge heatseekers and AA missiles without flares. Havent yet fully figured out but if you roll and yaw in same direction at right time it works sometimes
I use the mouse aim for both heli and jet, that's how I played in war thunder. Took some time to figure out how to set it up but I'm quite happy with it now, the default was super weird. The difference here is that bf2042 interprets the mouse as keyboard input, drag to pitch and it only does it for a short while, whereas in war thunder it was like a joystick, drag up to pitch and it continued until you dragged the mouse back to center. This has forced me to play jets with both hands on the keyboard, arrows for pitch and qweasd for other inputs. Otherwise it's impossible to do continuous turns. I will try the space and left control for pitch. Hope my left hand can handle everything :)
I like to play attack heli because it has a anti vehicle and anti aircraft capability. The scout heli is good because it’s faster than other vehicles but I have trouble sometimes with it since I’m playing on PS5.
Hey mate, is there anything like test range on bf4 so you can practice and fine tune heli skills.? I don’t get very many chances to get into helis and when I do I end up diving into the ground and killing a heap of team mates
you can use mouse buttons it just has to be under the Mouse section instead of keyboard section. I guess its so you can have A keyboard binding and a mouse binding? not sure why it could all just be together
Probs to late here, but If you create a macro for the mouse button and bind in to unused keys (for instance '[' or ']') you can get the mouse keybinds to work in game. Took me a long time to figure that out.
I believe you can bind chase camera, if you bind all chase cameras the same key. As in, planes, vehicles. Etc. I had the same problem with map key bind. I had to bind it in every setting.
More tips: When ur hovering in the AH the max range for stinger is 500m and AA guns on the wildcats max range is 700m. AH gunners 30mm is 1,100m max range.
Fr33thy recommended this video because I want to learn how to actually use the heli's. I just want to not crash or get blown out of the sky for longer than 30 seconds.
9:59, That's how I fly. Pilots who roll with their mouse are strange😂. 10:35 I hate how the switch seat key doesn't cycle through all the seats, and how there is no switch-to-primary-seat keybind. Function keys are hard to reach on full-sized keyboards, but what's even worse is that I have a 60% keyboard so every time I wanna switch to the heli primary seat, I have to hold Fn and then press 1/F1. (you need two hands to do this. WTF DICE.)
I was in a straight up zombie lobby where I didn’t get a single lock from infantry Andy I only managed 36-0, but normally I get 10-15 kills and die so I was still somewhat happy
Quick question. How can you tell a Sundance grenade is targeting your heli? Because when a Sundance grenade is targeting you, you get the "incoming missile" message for a long time, which makes you use your flares, even though you can easily fly away from the grenade .
Nice vid Silk. Have you tried running Aiming left/right aceleration on 0%? I see yours is set to default - 50%.. Aim feels more repsonsive in Helis ..well at least on console with controller.
I've been flying with WSAD + arrow keys and never really use mouse to fly, do you think this is a disadvantage or not? And should I switch to WSAD + Mouse ?, I've tried WSAD+MOUSE but the up down, left right sensitivty is so weird while on mouse
I use wasd + mouse, it feels really weird at first but you get used to it, try flying in a night bird, far easier to learn than something heavier and clunkier
The one thing i'm super struggling with is forward momentum! I can't seem to go as fast as you can going forward, all the other movements I'm starting to get the hang of but it's all just... slower. Any advice anyone?
Is there a good way to doge missles? And I have problems with spotting lock on‘s or where the missles came from. I would be very thankful if you have a few answers for me. THX
I looked this video up to find out what this "Rifle aim" thing is everyone is talking about. It turns out that's just my natural way of flying in games. I can't fly any other way. Always mouse for aiming aircraft, and thrust/roll on keyboard
How do you whip it around so fast? I've practiced the circle jerk strafe or whatever 🤣 , but the whipping 180° and slowing my momentum down seems tricky. I'm on controller, prob doesn't help that I'm a potato. I never know how much throttle I should be giving it through turns.
The game would not let me bind my side mouse button for the chase camera, until I went and deleted the settings folder for BF2042 in my files. Yes, you have to adjust all of your settings again but it did allow me to bind my mouse side buttons.
what are the best controller( ps5) settings and the buttons?? when i start to flight within 20 sec. i crash because the flying is not working by uncontrol the heli, thanks for your help. greetzz

how do you move so smoothly???? you seem to be able to fly straight horizontally but when i fly it always goes up even if im looking almost directly downwards
So that ‘rifle aim?’ Thing. Can you please be more specific I’d like to try that. Bind what action and when you say mouse which button do you refer? I appreciate it!
Rifle aim is binding yaw to left and right mouse movements instead of roll. roll then goes on A and D on the keyboard. I actually did this before learning that it was a popular thing, it just makes more sense intuitively for me.
I use rifle aim on both jets and helis but for the jets youll have to basically roll and pitch a lot instead of just yawing everywhere. So yea, its not good for jets which explains why I cant get any kills with them. Helis are a lot more fun for me anyways
Whenever I want to get into a vehicle, i never see the option for this helicopter. Only the big attack helicopter. Do i have to equip it or something ?

Hi, Could u tell me how u can edit Yaw to a mousemovement? Is there a hidden option, because i just keep moving my mouse up and down and nothing changes...
@@Lukas-tf8pl Did you select the mouse slot and not keyboard? Also you need to moce the mouse left and right not up and down...
@@painy6588 Im soryy, i meant left and right... I selected mouse but it just doesnt lock any mousemovent in
You are able to change the settings to your Mouse, just close the game and delete the "chache" folder in documents. =)
I actually use rifle aim for Jets and helis, it's actually easier for me to use it in jets lol. I just got used to it from using legacy southpaw on controller in airplanes so it was easier to adjust when I made those changes on MKB
how do i bind the mouse movements to yaw
@@trevorhenson759 go into key bindings, find yaw, clear them in the buttons, click on the mouse column, then just swing it right lol, should work. Make sure to unselect roll on the mouse column too. My mouse only controls yaw click for fire and zoom, W and S control pitch up and down.
@@sergiosrandomco.362 I tried that and wont rebind..Im gonna try deleteing cache but it should rebind...like bf4 a 6 year old game
@@TheJasonmoretti did clearing cache work for you. Im struggling to do this myself.
@@osamasiddique2108 worked for me
Thanks for the tips!
New people always flip right over because it's only normal to press A or D to try and steer.
how did you get it to rebind the yaw etc..wont let me clear the mouse movement or rebind
For your Information about binding on Mouse. delete the cache located in documents -> BF2042. after that it worked for me
After your help I switched to rifle mode, this is the best move for me, but I did make a few mods to those settings to suit
Oof.
There's many games that won't let you bind mouse buttons...just set mouse key binds using your mouse software as 0,9,8, etc and now the game sets these keys as your binds.
Hey, could you maybe do a beginner guide on how to actually fly an heli and a jet? I am a beginner and I have no clue on how to fly those vehicles :/ that would be really great
Seconded... especially when the 2042 Devs had the soullessness to Release this game with no Practice Range... :(
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning you can always play solo with bots
@@nklsmntl725 I've commenced doin that now. It looks like it'll have to do... :(
ya i use the "rifle aim" keybinds; i just can't get used to rolling with the mouse, it's so finicky, i've crashed more times than getting shot down lol i wish they used Warthunder's control schemes though, it's more intuitive that way
What setting do you turn on/off for mini bird crosshairs to only show a dot when using the rocket pods? Stock shows the 2 vertical lines with how many rockets you have left. I feel it’s a bit distracting and I like how you are able to see better.
Did u find out? I’m trying to put that aswell
@@poffypuff2230 negative
@@eliasfenstermacher284 negative what?
There is a way to dodge heatseekers and AA missiles without flares. Havent yet fully figured out but if you roll and yaw in same direction at right time it works sometimes
Yeah I have experienced this. But I have put it down to the shooter dying?
You can bind mouse buttons when the cache folder in documents is empty. You can careless delete all files in the folder.
Just set a key to pitch up, press it and bank to turn
I like to play attack heli because it has a anti vehicle and anti aircraft capability. The scout heli is good because it’s faster than other vehicles but I have trouble sometimes with it since I’m playing on PS5.
Hey mate, is there anything like test range on bf4 so you can practice and fine tune heli skills.? I don’t get very many chances to get into helis and when I do I end up diving into the ground and killing a heap of team mates
You can switch into solo/coop Mode where you fight against bots. You can choose it in the menu where you can switch between breakthrough and conquest
My dream to play heli like silk jesus
you can use mouse buttons it just has to be under the Mouse section instead of keyboard section.
More tips:
When ur hovering in the AH the max range for stinger is 500m and AA guns on the wildcats max range is 700m.
AH gunners 30mm is 1,100m max range.
am i happy youre on different severs lmao cant wait for leaderbords!
Thank you been waiting for this for ever :)
Function keys are hard to reach on full-sized keyboards,
but what's even worse is that I have a 60% keyboard so every time I wanna switch to the heli primary seat, I have to hold Fn and then press 1/F1. (you need two hands to do this. WTF DICE.)
I was in a straight up zombie lobby where I didn’t get a single lock from infantry Andy I only managed 36-0, but normally I get 10-15 kills and die so I was still somewhat happy
Great video mate. Thanks for the information.
i watched this video then practiced for about an hour i love flying the helis
The best hele flying was in Desert Combat mod for BF1942. Epic! Can't fly these for shit! :)
A tutorial that also shows the load out. WOW! Finally!
Quick question. How can you tell a Sundance grenade is targeting your heli? Because when a Sundance grenade is targeting you, you get the "incoming missile" message for a long time, which makes you use your flares, even though you can easily fly away from the grenade .
If your going for ground vehicles the 20mm cannons are super good
Nice vid Silk. Have you tried running Aiming left/right aceleration on 0%? I see yours is set to default - 50%.. Aim feels more repsonsive in Helis ..well at least on console with controller.
Not yet
Bro I was a beast w a heli back in bf3 console. But now on pc I instantly crash as soon as I pilot the heli 😂😂😂
But how does he fly forward and move around so quickly? My Nightbird doesnt fly forward that fast.
The one thing i'm super struggling with is forward momentum! I can't seem to go as fast as you can going forward, all the other movements I'm starting to get the hang of but it's all just... slower. Any advice anyone?
Same here! He moves so fast in his videos

I literally can’t fly in a straight line. This is amazing
Haven't seen the video yet, but I average about 60-80 kills a game, hoping this will help
The game would not let me bind my side mouse button for the chase camera, until I went and deleted the settings folder for BF2042 in my files. Yes, you have to adjust all of your settings again but it did allow me to bind my mouse side buttons.
Before I get hacked i just shoot my flares so I can be unlockable as I run for cover
what are the best controller( ps5) settings and the buttons?? when i start to flight within 20 sec. i crash because the flying is not working by uncontrol the heli, thanks for your help. greetzz
how do you get the rifleman style aim for the heli like you were talking about at the end of the video
Helpful Video. Wat tool you use for displaying your FPS?
Jets have a radar missile which is an instant lock, gotta watch out for it as more ppl unlock.
Ok I need help. Not sure if it’s a bug or not but I literally can’t fly helicopters or planes in the game(I play on ps5). Moving forward and backwards with a helicopter and plane for me do not work!!! I’ve look everywhere and not anyone else is having this issue. I can move up and down but that’s it. Even left and right don’t work properly for me.
how do you move so smoothly???? you seem to be able to fly straight horizontally but when i fly it always goes up even if im looking almost directly downwards
So that ‘rifle aim?’ Thing. Can you please be more specific I’d like to try that. Bind what action and when you say mouse which button do you refer? I appreciate it!
I also do not understand this rifle aim. Would be cool if someone can explain it more detail
Rifle aim is binding yaw to left and right mouse movements instead of roll. roll then goes on A and D on the keyboard. I actually did this before learning that it was a popular thing, it just makes more sense intuitively for me.
yeah just go to yaw right and move your mouse to the right i just switched and it feel pretty good actually
I suck at dog fighting other helicopters, I feel like people flying are always better then me lol
Awesome Silk can you do a video of battlefield 2042 chopper settings with the regular ps4 controller settings not mouse settings
How do you even get a scout heli? I never see them on spawn like in bf4. And I don't see an objective that has one to spawn in either
thanks, this helped me alot!
Can’t you use your mouse software to bind the side buttons to keystrokes? Wouldn’t that help?
I use rifle aim on both jets and helis but for the jets youll have to basically roll and pitch a lot instead of just yawing everywhere. So yea, its not good for jets which explains why I cant get any kills with them. Helis are a lot more fun for me anyways
Awesome tutorial, cheers bro 👍👍
definitely need to play around with my settings.. playing on controller seems like crawling speed compared to this vid..
Nice vid it's hard to keep aim on controller but really good tips thanx for the info
I changed it to the controls you have and now my button for laying down doesn’t work even if I restore to default
Yeah transport are very powerful but just fly above them and the gunners can't hit ya easy
The only thing I need to find out to fix or get rid of is assisted flight because I don’t really like that on console. Please help.
