    Last night I ordered a green bezel insert for my pro diver then broke the crystal trying to remove the cyclops so this is literally the exact video I needed. Thanks man!

    Thank you so much for sharing. It's the first video where someone manages to fit a 38mm ceramic insert on a producer. I understand the secret ingredients are elbow grease and patience.
    Gives me enough confidence to try the same upgrade

    Not badly done! A couple of additions, when you removed the old Sapphire, if you heated it (on a flame) the crystal cement for the magnification bubble with go brown, you can then easily remove it, clean it an re-attach it to the replacement glass with a drop of UV glass cement. (glue) When replacing the the movement to the case, put the movement Dial up on one of the plastic die's. then, after cleaning the inside, drop it down on to the movement, this will help you locate it correctly and stop any dust getting in as you do it. Loose the cotton gloves too! Lastly, when using the Anchor grease pad, Twist the top to the bottom, this will clean any remaining dirt and spread the silicon grease evenly. Hope you have more use out of your watch! KJ (Watchmaker)

      Great tips, thanks! While waiting for a nice sunny day to cure the UV cement, I finally decided not to replace the cyclops after all bc I prefer the aesthetics without it.

    What I do when working on watches is use a big clear tub with two holes cut for my hands. Working inside an area with no air movement is critical for dust free assembly. I got the idea by watching TH-cam videos of people germinating mushroom mycelium. I have a Vostok mod and a Seiko mod where I used this technique and they both came out flawless.

    I respect you for doing this, and showing us how, but I would never do this myself. Just my luck...something would go wrong. I take out links all the time, and I change batteries too (some easier than others), but this is way too much for me. Thank you again.

    It sounds like you dodged a bullet with the watch still running well. I would definitely recommend a full service in the very near future. I admire your skills, i would have had to pay more for repairs than the watch is worth.

    Where can you buy replacement parts for the watches. I just picked up this exact watch but I want to put the abalone face in her. I found one that had this design on ebay but it sells for 399.99 and it seems to be the last one. I dont like the new style with the abalone because the diver is cut out of the face and you can see the date wheel behind it and I think it looks terrible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. While I have her apart I want to replace the glass with sapphire as well.

    Nice job I want to do the same with my Invicta, so I have a few questions: Which material do you use for sand the ceramic bezel? And the other question is: how it works under the water with a replaced crystal? Hope to recieve your answer.

    • @3Ddash
      @3Ddash  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a coarse grade diamond stone to remove a maximum of material (relatively) quickly. If you replace the gasket at the same time as the crystal, the watch should retain its watertightness. I didn't bc I have other diver watches, and don't have the equipment to test the case under pressure. That said, I'm confident it will be fine in light water use such as swimming etc.

  • @JerryWDaviscom

    Nice. I have one of those watches. The mvt is a Seiko NH something-or-other. Seiko puts them in their own watches. I'm thinking of putting a double-dome crystal on mine, but it runs about 20 sec. fast per day, which is irksome, and the lume is quite weak. I did buy some good lume and have it sealed and under water to keep the air out until I need it. If I open my Pro Diver, I will probably try to enhance the lume, but how I will do that without making a big mess is a problem. Any good ideas?

    Hi! Thanks for share this. I have a question for you, hope you can help me, Im interested in change my bezel to one like yours new. Where did you get that ceramic bezel? I really like the embossed effect it has around the markings on it, it looks great!! Also which kind of sandpaper/abrasive did you use to get it fitted around the face of the watch? (SiO2, Al2O3, emery??)Thanks in advance! Congrats!

    How do you get rid of that hideous invicta logo scrolled into the side of the case?

    • @linksrat
      @linksrat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree, its overkill. I can't imagine there is a good way to 'get rid of it' w/o buying a new case. Its an $80 watch tho so why bother. I have the 1002 white face and thought about an Explorer II silver bezel insert. Just not sure I want to mess with pulling the crystal.

    Could you tell me the size of the original Invicta bezel insert? I would like to put one in ceramic

    • @3Ddash
      @3Ddash  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Invicta bezel insert outside diameter is 37.45 mm. Seiko and Rolex inserts (which are what you'll find typically) are slightly larger at around 37.85mm. So you'll have to find a way to remove about 0.30 mm from the outside edge. I used a course diamond stone, which works well at removing ceramic but requires patience and "elbow grease". Good luck on your mod!

    • @alsa788
      @alsa788 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3Ddash I will use a lathe to do this job. Could you tell me the inside diameter?

    • @3Ddash

    If you install all the gaskets correctly will it still be waterproof

    • @Fabianwew
      @Fabianwew 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, why wouldn't it be

    • @KeithJamesproductions
      @KeithJamesproductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fabianwew Because, when the original gasket is fitted, it's round (cross section). When you apply it to the square recessed groove, it slides with the silicon to form a square under pressure. this will not happen with an old seal and ideally should be replaced, to re-create the process again. It may work, if cleaned, but after a while, the rubber/plastics become brittle and crack. Letting in moisture.
