Love your channel. Been riding Japanese bikes for 40 years and yesterday got a new 2018 250 XC-W for the tight single tracks here in Idaho. You are responsible for that. :)
I’ve always race prepped my bike a little more due to experience. Here’s the list.. bark buster hand guards, safety wire grips, front rotor guard, rear brake fin, skid plate, devol radiator guards, exhaust pipe guard and a brake snake for the rear brake petal. I found all of these items beneficial in helping me finish hare scramble races in MS, AL and TN. I’ve done this to every bike I’ve had since 1995.
I like plastic skid plates for noise and weight but the aluminum ones from Emperor Racing are really nice and have pipe protection on the models for 2 stroke KTM’s/Husky’s
I have one of these on my 2018 KTM 300. The orange color matches the plastic really well. I purchased the mid level coverage 5mm unit without the linkage guard. The protection is fantastic. My only complaint is that I catch my right toe with my size 11 boots on the water pump wrap around portion. I cut about 7mm of plastic away from that area and used a soldering iron to clean up the cut. Looks like I never touched it now and I don't catch my toe anymore. Mounting was no problem, comes with all the hardware you need and changing the oil is no problem. This was my first AXP. I will use them again. It is stronger and better that the Acerbis that I had on my last 300xc.
I like how Kyle runs his bikes close to stock, Not a bling show but an excellent take on what to expect on bikes he reviews and how to make them better without reinventing the wheel
Hey Kyle, watching a video you did and a few others mounting this skid plate I seen how people would fuss to install them. "This is for the XC, TX models" When I got my TX300 I knew how to install it with ezz. Put a strap through the back wheel and up over the back of the seat and tighten it down to compress the rear shock, in return it lifts the linage to slip the skideplate on the back of the frame and on. Works like a charm!
Have the AXP w/ linkage guard on my 18 TE250. I use The Tokyo off-road kit to change the oil so there is no need to take the skidplate off to change the oil. Mine is beat up on the bottom from rocks but has held up well. I echo Kyles recommendation on this product.
The whole plastic vs metal skid plate really depends on where ur riding I think. Here in PA the rocks are brutal, nothing but rocks really. N I've cracked a couple plastic skid plates right in half. I've bent aluminium ones too, but if rather have my plate bend a little then crack completely. N as for the weight, its not that much heavier n it sits so low on the bike that it doesn't really matter.
You know I say just never ride your bike will stay very clean.....😁 Just Kidding. Here in the Pacific North West we have mud for most of the year so it is impossible for them to say nice.
Axp Racing just did a harescramble on Sunday and the axp skid plate came handy as I bashed the crap out of it on a rock and all it did was a light scratch on the plate!!! Deffinetly awesome product!! Will definitely buy again
My girl likes you i dont know why maybe you seem honest because i am certainly better looking- but i show her your reviews to justify my spending and so far I went with a $10 Tusk first line air filter on my 450RL due to it being Kyle approved and hopefully saved over $50 off the Honda OEM foam air filter. I will eventually get a handful of them if they work fine and use them as disposables. And that $50 that I didn’t just give away this time for free to the Honda dealer for selling me a piece of foam- went toward this $150 skid plate I just received so hopefully my Kyle approved skid plate effectively only cost me $100. We shall see so thx Brother.
Agree with limiting aftermarket parts. I have modified engines car and motorcycles. Just a waste of cash. Buy the next more powerful bike with horsepower from the factory. Everything works
On your Triple clamp on the 2019 250 XC you only two positions to set your handlebar at. Forward or OEM Stock position up front as it is. What have you done to give your more room in the Cockpit for riding? I have a 2019 KTM 300XC and I Tooooo am amazed {to spend more money} that the 2019 you can only turn the SADDLE for the handlebars 180 degree's to move it forward so it sits almost over the fork tubes. You and I are about the same build and arm length . But I have hair. Do you have a Video on this? Or go the XTrig route and get more adjustablility?
whats your take on the AXP vs SXS. It looked like the SXS was morelikely to slide easier but I believe you had experience on both. Id be buying for a Husky fe450. I run an empororer racing full wrap on my 2020 300xcw
I’m not skilled enough for enduro riding I honestly just go on soft trails or ride on asphalt. I need something to protect from droppings yunno like my pipe and handlebars and fender. Any links for good deals on parts that protect those?
Hey Kyle, I was trying to see if there was a possibility of a plastic conversion from the ‘18 models to the new 2019 models, now everything I’ve seen so far it looks like if you swap out the gas tanks and the seat it should be pretty good to go with just those changes, wondering to see if you could help me confirm that by looking at the bolt placements from the ‘18 300 to the new ‘19 250. Thank you and keep up the killer videos
Radiator is lower so the bolts are in different location, the seat is different with just one bolt, the subframe is different too, so i am gonna bet you will need a lot of modification to achieve that.
Mate, love your vids. Keep up the great work. I will like to know why your tank is so transparent? I have a 18 six days 300tpi here in oz, and I almost struggle to see my fuel compared to yours. Is the fuel in the us darker or do you add 2 stroke oil in your tank? Cheers.
Can't seem to find one for my 2020 yz450fx in the United States how much was shipping and how did you pay for it over the phone on a debit card credit card
Hey Kyle, old video so I hope you still see this and respond. I had never ridden without a skid plate, but until recently had never used a linkage guard. Is there any chance or any experience you have with linkage guards effecting your rear suspension? I recently put one on, and it could be a coincidence, but my shock slowly deteriorated after installing it, and now feels like it soft bottom outs like halfway through the stroke. bike is a 14 250xc
I have one without a linkage guard that came with my sherco, I'm definitely considering getting the one with a linkage guard for that added protection, I've also noticed you don't often run a pipe guard why is that?
Pipe guard defeats the purpose of what the pipe was designed to do. The protect your pipe from getting dented. The purpose of the pipe is to dent so all of the force of the impact isn't completely transferred into your exhaust flange. The flange and in some cases the actual cylinder cracks from hard crashes when you run a pipe guard. Depending on your riding style the pipe guards can be nice. If you aren't balls to the wall with some really hard crashes then you're probably fine running a pipe guard. I didn't know any better and listened to some video online when I bought my 300 TPI this summer. it was fine all summer until I did an extreme enduro. Battle of the GOATS in NC. I laid my bike down so many times that the stock pipe actually got pushed in so far that it was touching a bolt on the side of my engine case. That bolt head literally put a HOLE on the inside of my pipe. I'll never run a pipe guard again. Let the pipe dent, blow the dents out if you're on a budget or buy a new pipe once a season if you're not. My opinions of course but that's what I'll do from here on out
@@SkinnySkinch But those metal skid plates and pipe guards are amazing. I used to run my 300rr without any pipe protection, but it was so easy to dent the pipe. Now I use ptech skid plate with pipe guard in one. Amazing products. When you hit a rock, the pipe guard will not even touch the pipe. I recomend those. Of course it is not worth buying those carbon pipe guards
Enduro Fools yeah those guards you’re referring to are absolutely good products and for the exact reason you mentioned it doesn’t actually touch the pipe. I may try one, one day.. are they very heavy?
What brand do you have? I wish they made a really light plastic composite style one. I would buy that. I don't like adding weight to my bike but I also don't like spending $200 on a new pipe every season lol. only 30 hours on my 2019 TPI 300 and already on my second pipe.
I tried and tried and tried to get the KTM dealer I used to work for to stock these. And many other parts and gear I recommended. The parts manager refused to stock anything I asked to have brought in and continued to order the same shit parts that sat on the shelf for years at a time, frustrating to put it lightly. he refused to stock quality parts and gear that people want to buy, it made making sales that I made my pay check from much more difficult. Either having customers leave pissed or having to wait for a week or more for the parts to arrive. It made me resent Dirtbike’s for awhile. A big fat F*ck you to that place I’ll drive two hours one way to get my parts before I spend my money at any store they own...
I have a 2019 Ktm XCW 300 TPI: im having a hard time finding an AXP skid plate for my bike- preferably in orange. Im also having a hard time finding case covers/ protectors for my bike as well. @dirtbikechanel please help!
Kelvin Espinal I managed to get the AXP skidplate directly from there website. The case covers for my 2019 XCW 300 came from rocky mountain ATV - made by polisport .
Very difficult installation, brackets don’t fit between the motor and chassis for my 15-KTM. Either a bad design, or I received aluminum brackets that are too thick. The very front part of the skid plate I had to pry to bendthe bolt holes to line up. Very cunty install. As for removing the skid plate with ease for an oil change, forget it! I have another friend that has one on his 19-KTM and his biggest complaint is the wing part obstructs his boot on the brake side. He’s had some scary oh-shit moments. Nice part but they need to address a few things. My favorite skid plate is still the EE skid plate.
I just ordered Polisport Fortress skid plate with linkage guard for my Husky TE 250 2015. It’s also made of plastic. Like this one in the link below: www.polisport.com/en/off-road/ktm-250-sx-fortress-skid-plate-with-linkage-guard-black-2006-16-models_p3282.html
Save your money they are junk ! The plastic welds were incomplete, the mounting bracket didnt fit because of the frame welds. After cutting the mounting bracket 30 percent it finally fit. Had to cut the actual skid plate in two places to make it fit. A real piece of crap.

The best sid plate I havd used is the P3 carbon fiber skid plate. Is light weight and is slick so you can get over rocks and logs easy.
P3 look awesome and you can get a matching pipe guard
I like plastic skid plates for noise and weight but the aluminum ones from Emperor Racing are really nice and have pipe protection on the models for 2 stroke KTM’s/Husky’s

I use a aluminum from Holeshot on my exc250 2017. It seems bulletproof so far and it comes whit foam that fits between the frame to reduce vibrations
I like how Kyle runs his bikes close to stock,

I do 3 main thing to my bikes Barkbusters, bash plate and radiator braces.
I love the idea of being able to buy parts from you

Just bought a TE150, and this video was extremely helpful.
Those are some wreeally nice bolts
Have one on the 250FX. Good stuff. Put AXP's linkage guard on my TE250. Looks like the same material as the skidplates.
You know I say just never ride your bike will stay very clean.....😁 Just Kidding. Here in the Pacific North West we have mud for most of the year so it is impossible for them to say nice.
I just ordered a cycra skid plate with linkage protection as well as cycra problems handgaurds. I have high hopes
Very cool. Just checked out the site. Not bad for $150.
SXS also makes one here in the U.S that I have used and abused for over 3 years now.
Plastic is the way to go, we've been making them out if plastic drums for years. Cost almost 0$ and tough as hell.
I have the axp on my xcw and it’s very light weight and durable
Axp Racing just did a harescramble on Sunday and the axp skid plate came handy as I bashed the crap out of it on a rock and all it did was a light scratch on the plate!!! Deffinetly awesome product!! Will definitely buy again
Love the skid plate I don’t feel comfortable ordering it over seas as I’ve been scammed from people over seas in the past
Where should I get a skid plate
Rocky mountain atv
P tech makes a awesome pipe skid plate and has linkage guard I think is the best one I've ever had so far
What about more radiator protectors. If you ride hard enduro and overturn the radiators will probably be bent or get a hole in it
An aluminum skid plate was not your only option for the CR250R. I have the Hyde Plate on my CR and its polymer.
talk about pipe protection, please!!!
Just ordered a aluminum skid plate for my 19 300 tpi crap

I’m fairly new to enduro riding I’m either looking for a 250 or 300
You have both which would be better? Is the 300 a little too much
Buy a 200cc beta or a 150 ktm,you will have much more fun. i wouldn't suggest a 250/300 too much power
How long do they take to deliver since they are from England?
Nice video love the bike clean
But what’s the weight comparison between it and say an enduro engineering skid plate?
I traded out my enduro engineering skid plate out for this one recently. The two were within a few ounces with the EE plate being slightly lighter.
Axp Racing thank you for the reply. I have looking at your skid plate for quite a while for it’s linkage protection. Great looking product
Does it include stainless hardware?
