So for the bolt in the books the backpack acts as a sheath similar to Percy’s sword riptide disguising itself as a pen. So the bolt only returned to the bag once they got to a certain point in the underworld which is why they didn’t notice it before. :)
Yea Hercules kinda tricked the general public into believing that Hades is the evil god of the dead but really he generally is the one with the least drama, the least issues, a happy faithful wife, and just rules the underworld because it's important. It's always fun seeing Hades in media

H des has so many titles compared to the other gods,we're lucky to know his real name. The Percy books introduced "don't say the name!" But the books were inconsistent about it...
Percy figured it out because the story of the defeat of the Kronos and the Titans is one of the most famous stories in Greek mythology. Also, yes, Hades is ironically the most neutral god in all of Greek mythology. He’s just popularised in media to be a villain, because well, he’s an easy target. Ruler of the Underworld, make him a villain. Hephaestus DIDN’T make the Master Bolt. Hephaestus is one of Zeus’s children. The Master Bolt was forged by the Elder Cyclopes in preparation for the War against the Titans
Some non spoiler changes. They did keep the fact that in terms of gods, Hades is on the most chill side of things. Unlike others(especially his sibling minus Hestia[Hestia basically the goddess of wholesomeness so she never does any wrong]) he is a very fair god. And on that note the underworld in book and Mythology is split into 3 parts, Esylum(heaven), Fields of Asphodel(limbo), Fields of punishment(hell) Big change is that Hades was the first god percy met that was godlike. Hades first appearance he was in the form of 10 feet tall, wearing robes made with the souls of those from the fields of punishment. Makes sense since he got his symbol of power stolen. And he also rants about the logistics of why a war is stupid. Taking care of the dead is a full time job, making more dead is dumb. He also says he is the god or riches but the job is basically getting rid of that
Yeah Crusty is a very obscure myth. And a comain complaint with the adaptation is that the crew immediately knows what they are up against, even obscure myths and figures that changed their name
I initially wondered how they knew about Crusty, but they did get that letter from Hermes, who they explicitly went on a side quest to go get intel on the Underworld's secret entrance from, so I'd say they earned it
Dante had nine levels to hell and the author stole most of the ideas from Greek mythology. The Bible doesn't mention what hell is like. The references your seeing are from the original descriptions. Ancient bibles were written in Greek 🖖😎👍

Then to thank them for their services, Apollo killed them, because Zeus killed Apollo's son using the lightning bolt.
