  • Educational video for myself. Turned out to be a decent learning experience as well. All of my 22LR videos with the 10/22 TALO were shot at a distance of 25 yards and now I stretched it out 4 times to 100 yards and the results were incredible.
What distance do you zero a 22LR rifle, such as this one, at?

    barrel length is 16.5''
    my drop at:
    100 yards is 5.75 MOA.

Depending on which rifle I'm shooting (they have specific ammo requirements), the drop varies from 6.85 inches to 7.95 inches. Both have similar velocities and are zeroed at 25 yards precisely because that's the distance we use for match stick competition-- light the match to score a point. That requires an exact POA/POI. Beyond 25, dial in the range(s) utilizing a balistic calculator to 500-600 yards (depends on which RSO set up the COF/course of fire. The rifles also use different kind of scopes, one MOA, one MIL, which makes the zero even more critical.

Zeroed at 50 yards results in a 5" drop no change in windage for 100 yard target using a Ruger Rimfire carbine with Federal Auto Match.

Makes no sense not to simply come right on your scope rather than using so much Kentucky wind walking. How many seconds does it take to make that adjustment & no longer having to guess ?

For 22lr I zero for 50yds. Its Kentucky windage for closer and further out. Hope you guys are ready and prepared for the coming storm. Get ready and keep your head on a swivel.

Thanks. We are good. There were some tornado warnings earlier and the kids had to shelter in place at school and dismissal was a little different. We're not going to get hit with anything catastrophic, just some outer bands. I've got 6 metal gas cans coming tomorrow (to replace my plastic ones that are cracking). The only thing I really need to get is a battery back up for my modem for the time between power and generator.

Currently my BSA Model 12/15 is zeroed at 200 yards with iron sights, shooting rested I have all my hits in an 8" group. Holding off at the bottom of the foresight tunnel I am on at 300 yards, but it is somewhat wind dependent.

If shooting at 50 . I’m zero at 25. And adjust my scope as I need to my target. Thanks for the video.

Mine is zero at 50 yard and when I shoot 100 yard, it always shoot 3-4 in right bottom of the target. At 50 yards I hit red in the circle so I don’t mess with it. I also shoot auto match. I think if I shoot CCI mini mag than I might get better results?

As can be seen in the comments, each has his own distance he like to zero his rifle. There is no rule. I like 50 meter as I work in meters. I shoot with a lever action .22LR with 12x scope and at 100 meter get groups of average 30mm, that is 1.2 inch.
With Federal Automatch if you zero at 25Y that is your near zero and the far zero will be 53Y, so it does not really matter. Or 25 meter near zero with 50 meter far zero.
According to Strelok the drop at 100Y with Automatch then should be 4 to 5 inch, depending on the wind. So you were right on it.

I zero my Ruger precision rimfire 22LR at 50 yards using standard velocity CCI or other subsonic ammo, it's just under the speed of sound at 1040 fps. You get a way more stable round that groups better at 100 yards since it doesn't go transonic. Also a wind in your face or behind you is considered a zero value wind for the purpose of determining windage.

"since it doesn't go transonic" What do you mean it doesn't go transonic. It IS transonic the moment it leaves the muzzle all the way to the target.

    • @watermann8200
      @watermann8200 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@L.V-Rider Maybe post about something you know. Transonic means the bullet leaves the barrel over the speed of sound and before reaching the target it drops below the speed of sound. That switch is transonic.

It would be difficult to call a zero at 100 yards with an inaccurate 22lr rifle. Zero at 50 yards with match ammo sub sonic and you should be 1.6-2 mil/ 5.5 - 6.9 MOA's at 100 yards and about 1/2 in left for spin drift.

This much of a 0 shift from a different type of ammo indicates that your barrel is not made very good. You going to notice it when switching from high power 22lr to standard speed and low speed velocities . This much of left to right indicates that Barrel is drilled off center at some point and whips like a fishing rod . my best barrel for different types of 22lr ammo is believe or not 6'' long for ruger charger, barely any shift of 0 for all types of ammo I use ( except cci quiets or aguila sss- extreme low or heavy loads for 22lr )
