      Funny you should mention it - I have a video I'm recording this week that shows a TV mount that doesn't go into the stud but directly into the drywall and supports just about any sized TV. Do a quick search for "No Stud TV Hanger". Bear in mind that this only applies to drywall, if it's something else then it may not work.

      Hi! I'm sure my comment is 5 months too late, but I work in commercial construction and deal with metal studs all the time. What you'll want is long self-tapper screws (about 2 inches to go through the sheetrock and the metal) and an impact drill with a Phillips bit. While it's possible with a normal drill, it can be a little more frustrating. Hope this helps!

      Marcos Torres I had a stud finder and because I mounted TV on a corner wall, I only hit one stud ...for the screws where I did not hit a stud, I used those butterfly toggle bolts...my TV is a 42” and probably will not be moved around a whole lot, so I think it should be fine...sometimes you can knock on the wall with your knuckles to find studs....when you knock along the wall and it sounds hollow=no stud...keep slowly knocking until you sense density and that is a stud...all the best with your install!!

    The link you gave for the wall mount is not the same on Amazon?

      Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like the links were out of date. Here are the updated links and the mounts are quite a bit less expensive now! • TV Wall Mount - Fully Articulating - $29: geni.us/n70e6k
      • TV Wall Mount - Simpler, Lighter Version - $18: geni.us/yBITFl

    So do I not need to use the plastic anker if it’s on a stud ?

    • @LRN2DIY
      @LRN2DIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s correct. Those are for drywall that doesn’t have a stud directly behind it.

    I have panels with studs. I called the company I bought the mount from and they said it was fine as long as the mount is definitely in the stud behind the panel. What do you think? Do you think my TV's safe?

    • @robp4616
      @robp4616 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So long as it's mounted in the studs, it'll be fine.
      Assuming the studs themselves are weak for whatever reason.

    Will TV still work if you put the screw right on the back of it.

    • @LRN2DIY
      @LRN2DIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean driving a screw into the back of the TV itself, not into one of the mounting holes, probably not. That's likely a quick way to destroy your TV. As for the mounting holes, they're meant to accept the mounting screws like you see in this video so that should be fine.
