      @@TheSAHDLife it’s a beast of a sub 100% it’s almost deceiving with the way it looks. But Sonos does a pretty good job with allowing whatever speaker paired to the sub to stretch its legs out and leave the heavy lifting to the subwoofer so the smaller speakers can do its job even better

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@walidhannaoui1802 Haha right? I have no regrets but still... my wife is like wtf are you DOING?!
      The sub hits some big notes I used to enjoy back as a teenager on my 15" subwoofer in my crap car.... but boy you sure have to pay to play with the Sonos stuff.
      I really want to hear a audiophile setup compared to this stuff... Just how much better can it be? Because I'm really happy so far.
      I wish I could afford the 5's but... one day. I'll just sell some more crap and get there.

    Hi bud the Sonos move is good , but if you buy two and link them together as a stereo pair you’re talking a whole new level 😱 I’m so sold to Sonos I’ve pre ordered the Era 300 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh baby! So I purchased the Move new from Bestbuy, and once I found I liked it I shopped for a used one. There was a moment before I returned the new one I had both playing and... you're right... it just filled the room, it was awesome!
      I ended up grabbing the beam and a couple Ikea speakers but I will keep my eyes peeled for deals moving forward. I was considering the sub mini too for my house but I think I might try and grab the big sub eventually instead as we will have a decent sized room for it.
      Do you have any other fav Sonos speakers?

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, question for you... What are your plans with the 300? Are they basically just going to be surround speakers or will people just then for music or stand alone speakers?
      After doing a little bit of research it seems to me that the fives still have better sound quality when though they won't have the upward firing speakers etc. So I'm just curious what your plans are with them?

    I’m all for owning Sonos everything. But you can mix and match brands as long as they have airplay2 which just about everything has now. My Sonos system through out my house sounds great running music in sync with my Bose 600 setup in the bedroom.

      @@TheSAHDLife it is direct through the iPhone/ Apple Music. I mean I’ll be honest if you’re a Sonos guy you kinda need an iOS device. Even if you buy a cheaper iPad mini. Is Trueplay still not fully functional on an android?

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheCdM1981 to be honest, the only time I used Trueplay on my wife's iPhone, I ended up adjusting the settings anyway since I like things a bit more bass heavy. Plus the Sonos app works just great on my phone and I don't really want to spend money upgrading at the moment. But yeah... I do have an iPad so could always tinker around there if I ever felt the need. Everything sounds and works great as it is so I haven't even thought twice about it.
      Maybe with the newer speakers (300 etc) it's more important for the spatial affect?

  • @mikehancock6280
    @mikehancock6280 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The direct competition would be the Harman/Kardon citation 200. After a comparison I went with the h/k as it comes with the charging dock and has deeper bass.

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's sweet! You can pair multiple citations together but not necessarily their other speakers right? I like the idea of Sonos being able to tie together the home theater speakers. Plus for me buying used with the citation wasnt really an option. There's a lot of used Sonos which allows me to save a few bucks and expand my collection.
      But that's sweet that you found something that works better for you. It would be fun to compare them all together! Hopefully as I grow I can do more comprehensive comparisons.

    From a guy with all the Sonos speakers….. welcome to the dark side 😂😂. My beautiful wife got me a 2nd sub gen2 for my living room setup this past Christmas and oh man!!! Haha I have the bug BAD... I don't know why, I should be content but I can't stop until I get at least that sub. I'd love a 5 too but, I'll have to wait. One day!
      The sub gen 2's are still fine eh? I haven't learned which of the older speakers would still be fine investing in today... I see some good deals on the playbar, 5 gen 1/2's, 3's, etc..
      I really wanted to hear more from the 5 gen 3's at the store but they just had a few songs on the demo.
      And which are your fav speakers of the bunch?
      Your wife sounds awesome btw..

    • @5cent27
      @5cent27 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheSAHDLife sorry I misspoke 🤦‍♂️ the subs are gen 3’s.
      I really don’t have ALL the Sonos speakers either I was being sarcastic haha. I have the arc, the 2 subs, ones as surrounds and I bought 2 used play ones for the kitchen and sitting room.
      The arc setup in the living room is my favorite. Sonos has had struggles with some of their updates (14.12 specifically) but they have since released some better updates. If I had to complain about one thing it would be the updates. They messed a few up last year and it had me hesitant to update (turned automatic updates off).
      Peter Pee has a great TH-cam channel and has a lot of Sonos content, I would look him up.

      I watched my first Peter pee video last night... Good call. I will have to check out more of his stuff and school myself a bit.
      I know they say there is atmos music with the arc. Do you ever listen to music on your arc and if so can you tell the difference between Atmos music and just regular music?
      I've been very impressed with the beam and I have it in a large room. I bet it would be even better in a smaller space. We're moving next month so I'm looking forward to setting up in the new space.
      I love making videos like this then talking about this kind of stuff in the comments so thanks for watching and chatting! 👊

      @@TheSAHDLife
      Yes I have listened to atmos music on my arc and I personally love it and can hear a difference. My wife doesn’t really hear much of a difference tho so maybe you have to have an ear for it?
      The only way I can get atmos music is through my Apple TV tho. I don’t think you can Bluetooth or airplay atmos. I don’t like doing it on my Apple TV though because it leaves a static image on my tv and with an OLED I worry about burn in.
      I got “soundskins” covers for my 2 subs. They are a little pricey but at $700 a pop for the speakers its worth the added protection (especially with a 3 year old running around).

      Random question... do you have any favorite or new music / albums you'd recommend?
      I love all types of music but sometimes I don't have the time to discover anything. Let me know! Even if it's just one song... I love metalcore, rock, jazz, progressive, hip hop you name it.
      Here are some random ones I like as some samples:
      Parcels - Lightenup
      Dance Gavin Dance - Feels Bad Man
      Jesper Ryom - Apolune

    a bit of correction to what you said about listing to media individually ... if you have a room setup with your beam, rears and the sub for example that counts as one speaker/ zone. you would need to remove the speakers from the zone to play media on your beam per say. trust me i have a 5:1 setup in my place (Arc, 2 Ones, and a Sub), and a 5 in the other room.... i mean wow. If you have the means/funds/room i would go for the Arc.

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the way most people have their speakers set up they wouldn't ever really want to pair individual speakers per se, but ya, you are right! If you wanted just your move and say, ONLY your bookshelf speakers (which were set up as surrounds with your soundbar), you would have to ungroup them which is slightly annoying.
      And yes, I just was lucky enough to get the Arc. Review incoming!

      @@TheSAHDLife Re: grouping... i agree. Another gripe with Sonos is the flexibility(or lack there of) moving the wired speakers to another location. I took my Play 5 up to the cottage and attempted to connect to their wifi.... what a struggle. The Sonos app wouldn't allow me to connect to the wifi there and since there is no wifi connection the Play 5 wasn't being recognized. Had to hard reset the 5 and create a new Home to add it too... Kinda wish i had the Move in that scenario. BTW i live out in Brampton... i would say go Raptors but jeez

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a good question... we sold our house in mid-April and don't get our new one until June 1st, so we've been living like nomads this whole time with all of our stuff in pods! So while I would usually go test it out for you, I can't at the moment.
      Would you just be using the one speaker alone to watch movies on? I mean to be honest, it's so good I can say it will be a decent experience, especially if you were previously only using your projector speaker or something small. It can handle that job no problem and is so versatile and sounds so good I think it's a safe bet.
      Plus it can pair with any other speakers so I have it turned on for movies even when it's in the kitchen.
      Do let me know what you get and what you think!

  • @tiamzy
    @tiamzy ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Move has always been my favorite Sonos speaker precisely because of its flexibility. It’s like having a portable Sonos One with Bluetooth functionality. One of my deciding factor of going into the Sonos ecosystem is its Airplay support. I have existing Homepod minis so adding another Airplay-supported speaker would allow me to sync my Homepods to my Sonos speakers. Now, I have more Sonos speakers than Homepods because it’s just easier to do the grouping thing in Sonos than in Homepods.
    PS. You should get the Roam too for bathroom karaoke sessions. 😅

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, love it! Yeah you know, I've considered switching to the Apple ecosystem for the last couple years and Apple air play is just another reason to do it. I've been team Android for oh, the last 10+ years since I would say it's overall more affordable, but as I get older, I just want things to work... and Apple seems to just work. It would be expensive though since all my computers etc are all Windows / Android.
      Either way though I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Roam. It's pretty solid too eh?

    • @tiamzy
      @tiamzy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheSAHDLife Sonos Roam may not be the best speaker within its category but getting one is a no-brainer purchase. I wouldn't recommend the Roam as a standalone purchase (there are far more louder and cheaper Bluetooth speakers out there). It makes more sense to get the Roam to expand your ecosystem. The fact that the Roam behaves exactly like the Move in a smaller form factor can give you more use cases. In fact, I once used it as a "mini soundbar" in an Airbnb with a crappy TV speaker (together with an Apple TV box and Airplay). It was a lifesaver. That's something you can't do on a regular Bluetooth speaker and I really appreciate how you get more out of it than just being a Bluetooth-enabled speaker (it justified the price imho)

    • @TheSAHDLife
      @TheSAHDLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tiamzy that's awesome! So how does air play work? Is it similar to Google cast in that if you can see a device you can just fling content to it?
      I love being able to cast things to all the Google speakers and Google devices in my network but I can't see the Sonos stuff... So I wonder if the Apple stuff would be able to fling to all of those devices including the Sonos speakers? And do you need any other devices or is it just your phone connects directly to the Sonos speakers using air play?
      Thanks... Really appreciate your input!

    • @tiamzy
      @tiamzy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheSAHDLife yes, it’s pretty much the Apple way of casting audio. So as long as you have Airplay compatible speakers (Homepods or Sonos), you can group the speakers from your iDevice’s control center (separate from the Sonos app). Just know that grouping speakers thru iOS is not as intuitive as the Sonos app. And you can’t summon Siri thru Sonos either. However, you can ask Siri from your iDevice to play music from any Airplay-enabled speaker so having a Homepod around is still handy for me just for that specific purpose (and Homekit of course).

      Haha.
      How does the playbase sound? Compared to say the beam?
      I saw a decent deal with a sub gen 2 and a playbar I was tempted with... But it's tempting to hold out for the atmos for the theater room.
      Also another random question. Do you have any favorite music or albums to listen to? I always love discovering any kinds of new music.
