Last year Sept 1 my husband of 20 twenty years left me and filed divorce .I was devastated but i prayed to God for complete healing even through the tears and rough days .I had to keep to together for our to kids and just loved him from afar praying. The divorce went through ...after about a month God began a mighty work in him and I begin to see my old husband coming back around. Easter of this year I moved back move. We had our divorce annulled. We were only divorced three months .but God did a mighty work and I will never stop praising him for what he done and restoring my family .I can say today we are in love more than ever and God is the center of it . We will celebrate our 21 anniversary in September. GOD Is the ultimate healer so never stop praying during your storm!!!!

Marcus Compton Maybe God Is trying to teach you something maybe theres some areas you need to change in your life . Maybe God wants u to put him first in your life. Even if the divorce goes through God can still restore. He restored my marriage after the divorce and I'm remarried to my first and only husband now. It was a hard process but the process was about changing me first and putting God first in my life. It wasn't easy but with Jesus all things are possible. Dont lose hope seek God, but dont do it just bc you want him to restore your marriage but do it bc u want to know more of God. Dont ever stop praying for your marriage God hears u. Be blessed.

You all should read 1 Corinthians 7:27-28. You are placing unwarranted condemnation on people. Yes if a couple can reconcile they should but there is free will and one of the two could possibly not be willing to reconcile and every person in that situation should be seeking the Holy Spirit for direction. - Gabe

I am divorced and my husband has remarried. I was thinking why haven’t I remarried? I was reading my Bible and reading Matthews and cane across 5:31 and I’ve read it before but this time it was different. A week goes by and I feel the tugging of the Holy Spirit. So I start to research and it hits me like a ton of bricks- I can’t remarry. In God’s eyes I’m still married. So now this is devastating to me and it crushes me. But obedience is better than sacrifice - the road is narrow. Most churches do not teach on this and a lot of people are being lead astray but at the same time we are responsible for reading the Bible our selves. Praying for all remarried couples that are not biblical sound.
Thank you sharing your beautiful testimony!

Martha Thomas уou can remarry . Especially your exhusband so to speak is with another woman . We can call it adultery . Remember what the Bible says about grounds for divorce . God is God of mercy . He will forgive you . Unless you strongly believe in your heart that you can’t remarry then you shouldn’t . Bible says what’s not according to your faith it is sin . In other words if you believe it is wrong and you still do it then it is sin . I remarried to a wonderful Christian man . My ex was abusive . And his ex left him no matter how much he wanted reconciliation . God sees your heart . Just tell Him how you feel . God bless you.

Sister Martha, God bless you for your stand for the Word. If you keep holding on to God HE WILL REMEMBER you, even when it seems as if you are walking through a long dark tunnel all alone. I'm not in your situation in any shape or form, but I'm also going through a valley, but I trust in HIM and His leadership. I don't want to be found a coward who backed down and made compromises with the world, don't listen to M V's justification for remarriage. If your meanwhile ex-husband commits adultery, you don't have to follow in the same path as he. God will have you as a witness against all those who chose the easy way of the world. It'll be worth it all soon. Hold on faithfully to God's eternal unchanging Word, and HE WILL stand for you on the day of the White Throne Judgement.

My wife divorced me a few years now and is in another serious relationship. I tried so hard to hold it together but hardness had entered her heart and Satan loves to break Christian marriage. Was I also at fault? Of course. But I believed in keeping the unity. I believe satan has blinded her to what is right and sadly our kids have been influenced also. I have very little contact with them. I was the dad who wouldn't say yes to everything their mum and them wanted because I believed there are standards in a Christian home that should be set by the parents. I know remarriage is not an option and I have really struggled with this bit closer to the place of submission and acceptance now. God gives strength to those that call on Him...

    Steven,
We will pray brother! You described an almost identical existence when we were married the first time. You are saying all the right things. Your happiness will lie in your relationship with God. Their is no guarantee that your wife will ever give you another chance so patience is key. Talk is cheap. You have to show her through your actions that you are changing and have changed. She’ll “know”....she’ll “see”.....we know you might think she doesn’t because you have no contact but if your heart is truly right with God she’ll know. Be patient....it took 3 years and 10 months for God to trust me changed enough to entrust her heart with me again. Meanwhile, ALL my friends were telling me to move on, accept it was over! (Total disclosure, I dated but had no real desire to “move on” permanently. I’d reach out to Krystal every few weeks and ask to go to coffee or a walk. Just an opportunity to start over. Not to go “back” to what we had because what we had was wrong but a NEW start) Stay strong, seek the lord your God with all your heart and all these things will be given unto you! Read Deuteronomy 4 :25-31

My husband left the weekend after my girls graduated from high school. He left for another woman who was 10 years younger than me. I was so lost I literally couldn’t speak. My father was dying, my daughter had been life flighted and my other daughter had her appendix out within a 3 month period. I grew close to God during that time not knowing that he was having an affair. It has been 81/2 years. He is still with her. I am still broken

PS....work hard on forgiving your ex-husband. He’s just a broken little boy with damage and baggage who’s made some bad decisions because he didn’t know how to cope. If you don’t feel you can forgive him then start researching forgiveness and how to work towards that. Lastly, remember this… (Un)forgiveness, is like you drinking the poison and expecting him to die! It only ruins YOUR life!

Wow, that spoke louder volumes - walking the talk proves that anything is possible with the Lord. Even that if you had held onto bitterness, then bitterness will never set you free till you meet death. That's why healing and forgiveness go in hand to re-work on building that relationship. Even you thought that Jesus would have had allowed religious leaders to stone the prostitute - in fact He referenced that "anyone who is perfect without sin" is to think twice of the consequences. What He meant that there is always grace to choose over than walk and carry luggages of bitterness and etc. Even not feeling like you have to do this and that, that is not going to level and stretch your maturity unless you have to put feelings aside and allow God to minister grace and restoration in your life and relationships. So feeling like is not the answer as it plasters or diverts maturity away to what God is conveying to you particularly. We often feel like "stoning to death" at the expense of deserving what the opposite parties put us through, but in return we reap what we sow. So reap what we have to sow in order to allow the fruit to point to testimony of Jesus Christ.

I am divorced remarried due to adultery multiple times. I agree that marriage God intended to be once and that's it. However, there are instances where one chooses to live in sin when other is wanting to live for Jesus. I could not force her to change and she is still the same over ten years later. People can judge me if they want but before they do they should read 1 Corinthians chapter 7 to 8 and you will see that in those instances it is not sin to remarry. Don't misunderstand me I hate how marriage has been dishonored in the church and it seems people divorce constantly and it's truly sad but God has provided a way for those that have made mistakes still. I'm not proud to have gone thru what I have but now I'm in a marriage where we BOTH seek to give ALL to Jesus. I still pray for my first wife and hope she will return to the Lord. That is awesome when reconciliation happens and I believe it does however, God does not force anyone to come back to Him. - Gabe

Hamilton Rowan In these Last Days of the Church Age it's so easy to find churches that will feed you lies as truths with regards to the marriage covenant. Only corrupt and perverted churches teach that it's perfectly fine to remarry after divorce, especially if you're not the one who cheated. Churches that make up the Bride of Christ do not teach this lie that originated in the pit of hell. They teach the Truth of the Lord Jesus Christ. "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” [Mark 10:11,12]
When a man and a woman make a covenant before God to marry until death, it means exactly that. Only the death of one of them can dissolve the marriage covenant. The covenant they both make before God is inscribed on their very souls. If the man commits adultery against his wife or visa versa the marriage covenant will be defiled but not dissolved. Men and women don't enter into a marriage covenant on the understanding that they'll dissolved it if one or both of them commit adultery. Christian Couples really need to pay more attention to the vows they're making before God on their wedding Day.
Because the sin of adultery cannot break the marriage covenant, but can only defile it, the Lord told the married woman, who was caught in the act of adultery to: "...go and sin no more.” [John 8:11] In other words, the Lord told her to stop defiling her marriage covenant but instead to remain faithful to her own husband. The "fornication clause" many are using as an excuse to remarry only applied to betrothed wives in Jewish times! A betrothed couple waited for about a Year before they consummated their marriage. If within that Year the betrothed wife commited fornication, the betrothed husband could "divorce" her to marry someone else. This is what Joseph wanted to do when he thought Mary had committed fornication not adultery. "Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery..." [Matt.19:9]
After a marriage has been consummated, if a spouse then commits adultery, a separation, not divorce, is permitted. If the spouse repents, however, a reconciliation must be sought. If he or she doesn't repent and goes off to marry someone else, the innocent spouse must remain unmarried and continue to pray for a reconciliation. This may or may not happen. "Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife." [1 Cor.7:10,11]
"But if the unbelieving spouse separates himself, let him be separated. In circumstances like these, the brother or sister is not enslaved - God has called you to a life of peace." [1Cor.7:15] This is another verse many Christians use to support remarriages. They're reading into the text something that is not there. The brother or sister not being enslaved simply means that the brother or sister are no longer able to function in the capacity as a husband or a wife any longer, because their respective spouses have chosen to leave. For we get married to be enslaved, in a good sense, to our spouses! "And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness...present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness...But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God" [Rom.6:18,19,22] Being enslaved to our spouses means being a slave of righteousness for holiness. It means being a slave of God. You really have to twist the Scriptures to conclude that not being enslaved means you're free to remarry if your spouse leaves. This is confirmed to not be the case. For in the very next verse Paul places the responsibility of saving the spouse who has left in the hands of the husband or wife, who are to remain unmarried. "For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?" [1 Cor.7:16] A husband or a wife cannot pray with a pure heart before God, for the salvation of a spouse who has left, if they're committing adultery, in an unlawful marriage, with someone else.
What so many Christians don't realize is that the Lord Jesus Christ is using the marriage covenant to separate the wheat from the chaff in the Church before the Rapture. This is why it's so important for Christians to choose their spouses very very carefully. Because, unlike the World, we have only one chance to get it right. And if we blow it we may have to spend the rest of our lives alone in order to remain within God's perfect will.

24 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled

If both my first spouse and I remarried other people, is it a sin in God’s eyes to divorce our current spouse and reconcile with each other ? (Deuteronomy 24:4 & Jeremiah 3:1) I need clarification on this please. I would like to go back to my first husband but only if it is not abomination to the Lord

It's too late now, for you have remarried and so both become adulterers by the Lord's own teaching.

I just have to say seeing some posts on here that say you can’t get a divorce and remarry. That’s biblically not true. Matthew 19:9 teaches that in fact if a person commits adultery that severs the marriage ties.

The word Christ used was fornication "Intercourse between unmarried persons".
Which is why Christ used fornication & adultery interdependently in the same verses.
Even then, in Matthew he was speaking to the Jewish leaders still under the Law given to Moses in the Matthew account.
When asked by the Disciples for clarification in Mark, we observe the following.
"2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
3 "What did Moses command you?" he replied.
4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."
5 "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied. 6 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female'. 7 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, **let man not separate**."
10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.
11 He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
      Mark 10:2-12 (ANIV)
For adulterers are to be banned from the kingdom of God.
"9 Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,
10 Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God."
      1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (AMP. BIBLE)

      @Rally Point
Fornication means sexual intercourse between people not married to each other.
"Fornication is generally consensual sexual intercourse between two people not married to each other."
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fornication
Thus the wife was found not to be a virgin on her wedding night and that was the only reason divorce was allowed [by Christ ] to the Jews. Even then it was for "Hardness of heart".

Divorce and remarriage is adultery period! No excuses, exemption clauses, OT legalistic laws to grasp at! This point should solidify believers to stay together! Reject any pastor or elder who holds onto a "pro-divorce" policy! It is an indefensible position to take.

EF2000CanFly Jesus lays out in the scriptures that there is grounds for divorce and that is if someone commits adultery. Adultery severs the marriage ties and gives the person freedom to move on. Matt. 19:9
