NO ITS NOT!
Soarin around the world music only sounds slightly the same as over California at the beginning and end but everything else sounds 100% different.

@@kimjensen8838 I found a fragrance oil in a local shop that smells just like the orange groves! One of my favorite things I've ever bought! I also have some aromatherapy stuff that smells exactly like the pine scene, another that smells like the ocean scene, and a third that smells like the orange groves again.

Although it's back for only a month, I wish they would at least put in an option to ride either the original California ride, or the new around the world versions.

I disagree. I think they should keep it as just California. Have the world one for Disney World. Also they sho.uld country specific ones for each different Disney park
Disney couldnt. Then one side would just become more popular than the other. To play it safe, the Left Side operates World and the Right Side operates California. And which ever side the cast member directs you to is the version you'd be riding. So it's 50 50

Not going to lie. I almost teared up watching this to the end, as a long time fan of the original ride. Glad to see the footage and source audio got the remastering they deserved.

This ride will always have a special place in my heart. It's the last ride my grandfather and I went on before he passed.
This will always be the superior version, as it’s not just a ride through random vistas, but an ode to the wonderful place where Disney, as a concept, was made.

This is still one of my absolute favorite rides at Disneyland or any other theme park. There's just something about it that is so incredibly magical. It's an absolutely perfectly executed concept. This should remain Soarin' Over California now and forever.

As a Brit I remember the first time I saw this at DCA and it just blew my mind. It helped that we were sat middle front. The best seat in the house.

@@christinasavannah7992 Yes we have everything like that too. One thing that we lack though is good weather. But if your thing is lush green rolling fields and fresh air then the UK this an amazing place to live.

@@m000660 Why I came from California. Some people hate Soarin Around the World because we all know their landmarks, biomes, and lands. California one is new where people see landmarks which includes the Golden Gate Bridge. We also see biomes, valleys, and parks.

I love the new one but I also this old one too they could have just kept the soarin over California just at disneyland and over the world just at disneyworld because I thought it made sense to do over the world at Disney world because epcot had the world showcase and also doing over California in Florida

One of my favorite attractions of California adventure! Ridden it during my first Disneyland visit in 2003, second in 2006, and last time in 2011! I even listened to this music a couple times while flying in a plane! Feels almost fitting!
Honestly, it would be so easy if Disney kept it like this because it's just a movie. Or Disney could do soarin over CA on one side and Soarin around the world on the other

@@sunshinesky6926 well it could work, just know that when you ride soarin, your directed to either left or right randomly. So technically you can have a 50 50 chance to ride said version. And Disney sphlud put a sign saying no complaints for which ride version you get, and cast member will only allowed a certain number of request per day. It's like single rider, you get a card, and you give it to the CM at the end of the hallway and they say which version would you like, you choose and you ill be directed to that side and be going through the line of handicap instead of the normal line since you requested it

My favorite. I remember the scents used in the ride, like evergreen, orange and was I imagining a slight spray of water? Absolutely love this ride, it brings back so many beautiful memories of traveling with my beloved son and husband. The music by Jerry Goldsmith is brilliant, I read he loved the ride so much he was in tears. Lovely man, great composer.
If people send letters or stop by Chamber of Commerce at DCA to voice their desire to keep Soarin Over California Disney will listen and possibly keep it

I visited California in 2008, and this was the highlight of my visit...Just loved it so much i went out the building and back in the queue for a second time...This video brought those feelings back...I wish the UK had something like this...Great.

I really missed this ride, no joke after the ride was finished I was tearing up because how strong the ride is because of my childhood memories....this was one of them. This ride made me feel like a kid again.

I miss this so much. "Soarin' over the world" just ain't the same.
I actually think Around the World is an improvement in several aspects. Like, that one feels more natural to me. I mean, think about it: The same time of the day is not shown in all videos on either version. Since Soarin' Over California is in California, like if you were to go on it after dark, it'd be a giveaway that you're not actually traveling. The fact that a couple of the vids were filmed after dark just makes it so clear you're not really traveling across the state. But with Around the World, not all times are the same in every area of the world, so it feels more believable. Also Around has much smoother transitions instead of just abruptly cutting to the next scene like the California version.
However, these are just my opinion. And I don't hate this version, I'm just saying the world version improves on it in aspects. That's all.
@@artbytesiaReally? Around the World more NATURAL? 🤣🤣🤣 Girl, it is infested with CGI. Unlike the original, which is actually natural and this gives you that nostalgic 90s/early 2000s feels. I never went on Soarin' as a kid when DCA was brand new, due to the lines being so long. Up until this year's Food & Wine Festival, after so many years of wanting to, I finally got on Soarin' Over California for the first time. I FELT the nostalgia and despite not having the same connection as many others who have ridden it over the years, I got teary eyed and emotional watching the scenes and hearing that beautiful music. It filled me with pride, of being Californian and living in such a beautiful state. I didn't get that feeling when I got on Around the World a month later. It's alright, the smells are nice...but the CGI ruined it for me. Everyone is entitled to like whichever version, but to say that ATW feels more "natural"...please. It's far from it. 😂

When I was kid from a low income family. My parents took me to Disneyland and DCA for special occasions. Soarin Over California was always my favorite ride since this was the closest thing to exploring all of California. I’ve always wanted to visit San Francisco, the valley, the desert, San Diego, etc. However since my family didn’t have enough money to do the travel. They saved the money for us to go to DCA just for this.
Now I’m 23 and so far I’ve gone through most California (Yosemite and the mountain regions left to go) and I kid you not I got very teary from just the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge! I will never forget this ride for inspiring me to explore such a beautiful state!
If you could choose any region of the state to live (money not an opject), which would it be?
@@ct6852good question. Personally since I live in 15 mins from the coast. I like to keep it that way. So personally, I would say Monterey. The scenery is like no other. Also I still have easy access to a major city like San Jose which is a 1 hr drive

@@ct6852 SoCal coast, probably Orange County. NorCal is too close to the hellhole known as the Bay Area, and even though Napa is cool, I want to be as far away from Newsom and the idiots in the Bay Area as possible.

I love Jerry goldsmith’s original score for this ride. As a Disney world girl I love soarin’ around the world, but will always be a little salty that we got a “variations on a theme” soundtrack instead of the original. It was perfect❤

They extended it to the end of August. I rode it four times recently (three of them today!), but alas it'll be gone again soon.
I just rode it last week at Disneyland! The smells and old soundtrack had me choking up with nostalgia.
I wish they did this, they kept Soarin over California in DCA (Disney California Adventure ) but then put soarin around the world at Epcot in WDW ( Walt Disney World ) to fit in with the world theme in Epcot.
We took a last minute trip to Disneyland 2 weeks ago, and we got to ride this! It was awesome!
This was the best ride in California Adventure, once it opens back up gonna make a return trip

We used to visit L. A every year for 30 years and from the opening of California Adventure we would ride this raide at least 10 times each visit we found this ride spectacular I long to go back to L. A once again just to re ride this amazing ride

Apparently, when this film was introduced at EPCOT at Disney World - simply called Soarin' - many people assumed these clips were from all over the USA: the Rockies, Arizona, the Coast of New England, the Midwest, etc etc. They couldn't believe this was filmed in one single state.
They should make the original stay for good!

they should keep soarin around the world in Florida, Shanghai, and the coming soon version in Tokyo
that's the plan. the temporary 1-month change just applies to the Anaheim version. next month it reverts back to Soarin Around The World.
I say keep around the world in the other parks, and return Soarin' Over California to DCA permanently.

I’ve never even been to Disneyland, just the WDW resort in Florida. I think Soarin Over California is better. This video made me cry. I remember when I was younger I would plug my ears because I hated the fireworks at the end. Now I’m over here missing the orange grove scent. I’ve never been to California, but I loved this because it showed me a place I haven’t been to. I guess the world fits Epcot more 🙄

This was one of my favorite rides as a kid...I miss it.
Disney had an experiment where they played both Soarin’ Over The World and California, they had one line for each theater and let the guests choose which they liked more. The California theater had a TON more guests than the World theater.
I don't know if people notice this or not, so I thought I'd point out that Space Mountain is still painted bronze at the end of this ride.

Yes - that's because they filmed that footage prior to 2001. When I went to DL in 2001 and 2001, SM was bronzed then - for me, that's its colour - well in Anaheim anyway.

That’s so cool they brought it back for a little while. The editing and music queues are more wonderful and well-edited than “around the world”. Just wish they would keep the lights off when you would lift off like it used to be.
Tell me why, at 2:46, I instinctively inhaled deeply, expecting to smell the oranges!
I've never had an annual pass so, despite only having experienced this a handful of times (the last being in 2013), I still remember every frame so vividly and know exactly what is coming each moment.
Please let them never take this experience away. It is better than it should be.

@Jackson Crossman Since the film was refurbished in 2015, it hasn't been grainy. And more sights and smells and advanced footage? It's all CGI and looks fake, IMO. The Californian film had much more of a theatrical and realistic presence.

Best Disney Ride to date
My favorite scenes were Monterey, San Diego, Malibu and of course Disneyland at the end
The Naval Base pictured in SD was North Island Naval Base as well as the connected Naval Air Station. The Carrier was CVN-74, the John C Stennis, a Nimitz class Super Carrier. One of the F/A-18s on deck belonged to VFA-146 Blue Diamonds.
Oh man! This made me miss the original version. The picture looks clearer than I remember it being. I wish they could extend this return for several months. Don’t get me wrong, I like the world version, but since this is in California, it belongs as Soarin Over California.
Wow, this brings back fond memories from my 2 rides way back in 2010!
