The first Tamarro in the video was the most fun one for me to find. When I was around there, another family with two kids were looking for Massa, the Tamarro for La Massana. I ended up tagging along with them with a little bit of Castellano I learns while in high school! The one that took the most walking from the "Troba al Tamarro" sign. Walking along the river was quite something. At 07:20, the Les Fonts viewpoint, I ran into it by chance after finding Caldes. The forest path that you need to walk in order to reach Caldes is beautiful! So calming that I ended up walking around that area more before walking to Lake Engolasters. Whoever's idea it was to introduce Tamarros to encourage people to explore the nature in Andorra, it's quite genius I have to say.
I did the 3 countries in 1 day tour when I was in Barcelona in January. The stops we made were really cool, but it was definitely too much time driving. I was a solo traveler and it was a good way to meet up with other people. I would definitely like to go back to Andorra and explore a bit more during the warmer part of the year.
I am thinking of doing the 3 country tour in Jan 2024 as well. But I am reading that it's too hectic and probably not worthwhile because the town/village in France will be mostly closed as well. That said how was the scenery and weather in January? Thanks
I've lived in Andorra for 9 years and I love it. I would also recommand the small village of Pal as well as the valley Vall d'Incles. My 2 favorite places. ^^ Also, if you come in winter it's pretty great fro skying.
I'm going in december! Can you suggest where to stay? Encamp canillo, el tarter.. I have no idea! Ill be heading there with kids 9 and 5. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated
What most tourists that are eager to visit three countries in one day don't realize is that it's in many ways relatively irrelevant whether you are on one side of the border or the other. Many extremely small countries are so tiny that they are lacking aspects of proper identity, such as San Marino, Andorra or Liechtenstein. Apart from that, the local geography builds up identity whether it's a mountain range like the Pyrenees with the common features on the different sides of the borders, regional identities of being Catalonian, Basque, Occitan, Gascon within the same country or even on both sides of a border. Northern France and Southern France are completely different territories. The same with Spain, Italy or Germany. Bordering regions often have more in vommon with their neighbouring country than the other end of the same. They may even speak another language on the other side of the border but the local dialect or accent at the opposite end is often as difficult to grasp as the other language. In Europe country identities are of course prevalent but are also of relative importance. Many people cross borders to di their daily shopping or go to work or visit their relatives. It may be difficult to perceive for most Americans, Canadians or Australians.
man, if Andorra lacks identity let me tell you that you are wrong in that aspect as they are the ones which speak milenary Català. And have never been French or Spanish, enschuldigung
Good video! I'm booked up to go to Barcelona in September and was thinking of doing a day trip to Andorra. I might see if I can stay overnight there now and return the next day. You're right, six hours on the bus is no joke and another TH-camr suggests taking Dramamine if you suffer from motion sickness! 😱
Andorra is a beautiful place. unfortunately, I can only get there by ALSA bus. And there is not enough time to wander in the forest. Thanks for the video.
One of my next trips from Paris : Toulouse France, Carcassonne France, Montségur France, Andorra la Vella Andorra, Barcelona Spain, Perpignan France, Montpellier France.
@@skone2188 Thank you but it's too early, I haven't been there yet. It's just one of my planned trips. I have planned trips for more than ten years in advance.
I'm coming in April. I'm flying into Barcelona, renting a car and driving up to spend a few days in Provence and a couple days in the Midi before driving back to Barcelona. I was researching visiting Andorra on the drive back to Barcelona when I came across this video. Would you recommend it if you are heading back and it's on the way???
Great video - thanks! I’m not a fan of the one country day trips…especially when you would spend 6 hours on a bus. So I’ve never done it when I’ve been in Barcelona. The three countries in 1 day sounds awful to me.
Hey, so where would you recommend staying when planning on staying for a couple days in Andorra? Still somewhere in the city center and then drive around from there with the car? Also how is the Skiing season up there, are there good tracks? Great video!
Thanks! The center of Andorra La Vella has all sorts of hotel offerings and getting around by car from there is very easy. Some of the best slopes around! ⛷️
Stayed there last weekend. In the capital was very warm - up to +19°, in ski resort Pal-Arinsal a bit less and yes you can ski there usually from December till April
@@bighand1530 It was great. We bussed in front of Toulouse. Beautiful ride thru the mountains and a few towns. Andorra la Vella was nice. A couple of great restaurants right by the Dali sculpture. Took a little hike along the hill bordering town. Would love to return and see some other towns.
Amazing video. I never heard of Andorra until this year when I started planning my trip to Europe. I'm going from Madrid to Barcelona then to Andorra and then to France. I am looking at taking a train from Barcelona to Andorra, and stay maybe like 2 full days. Do you have any hotel recommendations for Andorra? Car rental places?
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona Yea I ended up figuring out the no train thing after I posted this lol. Looking to take the bus to Andorra and rent a car there, then a bus to Toulouse, France. Thank you for your help.
Great vid, audio sounds way better! Been living in Barcelona for 2 years and this is a trip I definitely want to make
Hey thanks! If you’ve been in barcelona 2 years now, it’s time to check it out
Bro, this is Rick Steve's level stuff. Very informative. Love Andorra
Next time I am in Europe, I want to go to Andorra. I loved my time in Barcelona Spain, and Toulouse France. They are my favorite places in the world.
You should!
The most cleanest country.Of course because I lived here.Enjoy your trip here

It was a really cool experience
great!! We will be driving from Barcelona to along the coast up to Toullouse and will drive back to Barcelona via Andorra. TYTY
Good video 👍🏼Fyi: Less than 8% is urban. The max it can get to is 3% and right now we are around 2 i would say.

How is public transport in Andorra? Can you get to hiking trails and the top of the mountains by public transport easily?
I don’t have any personal experience with it
Yes, you can take buses to both ski resorts - Grandvalira and Vallnord. Buses run every ~30 min ⛷️🏂

wtf: it's LA VELLA or it's LA VEGA - the way you're pronouncing it... ?!
It is "la Vella" (it means "the old one" in Catalan). It is pronounced as [la 'ßɛ.ʎa].
I don't know what happened, perhaps I thought this was a different vid, the views were excellent!! Sorry sir!
