One of my favorite pirate movies. Love the story, the sets, the characters, and Long John Silver. The late Robert Newton was one of the best pirates to ever hit the big screen.
Its entertainment, it was made for a young audience in the 50's it is still and always will be entertaining the same as the classic Treasure Island itself. And long live Actor Robert Newton in our memories.
Might this be the inspiration for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ? If you've been to Disneyland out in California, there is a place along your cool and dark boat ride where you pass underneath a brick over- hang. Perched up upon the brickwork is the talking skeletal head of a long dead pirate. As you pass underneath him, you can see and hear the bones warn: "Dead Men Tell No Tales" in a low echoing warning.

The Disney series in the 80's was better imo.
