Thanks Mr. Pearl for your in-depth and insightful lecture on speaking in tongues. Your lecture was the best I've seen. I was born Catholic and later in my teens and a university student attended a Christian church where all of this nonsense took place; I never fell for it. I knew it was not biblical but possessed no way of explaining this phenomenon.
I also speak Spanish fluently and have studied French and Italian--teach English as a second language and have an understanding of basic linguistics and the International Phonetic Alphabet. And, yes, the Greek word for languages is "tongues," exactly like in French and Italian. And in Spanish we say "lengua" which translates into not only "language," but also the tongue in your mouth.

What do you think about groaning in the spirit? Romans 8:26-27 groaning too deep for words that we use when we don’t know what to pray for. God searches our heart the Spirit himself intercedes for us. I would say though that this type of prayer is meant to be between you and God and not to be spoken out loud for people to hear.

In my humble opinion, you were already an indoctrinated catholic, and of course looked at all else with skepticism. To call it nonsense is a dangerous thing. Also you say it was not biblical for you were probably referring to the Roman catholic bible which has been assembled from various popes, picking and choosing as THEY felt was worthy of inclusion, or exclusion.. I have no respect for a religion which praises and prays to a wooden statue, and kisses someone's ring, and calls the priests father. Read the real bible and you will see what it says about these practices.

Glad you pointed out about the hypnotists. In the past I have been in one of those type of prayer lines where the pastor lays his hands on you but I guess I was unhypnotizable because I never passed out or even felt a tinkle. It is either in people's minds or it is demonic. Either way God has blessed me from being affected by that nonsense. Because there is a real danger in stuff like the transference of spirits through the laying on of hands.

As a 19 year old, God saved me in the backseat of a car on the ride home from the hospital that I had just left after being treated for overdosing. I told him if he would help me stop using drugs, I would serve him. For 2 weeks I prayed daily in my living room on my knees, but I had no idea how to pray or even what to say. Despite my lack of understanding, He radically changed my life. A few months later I was visiting churches, asking Him each time if this was home. I wondered into a church and immediately felt God’s presence the minute I crossed the threshold. After a couple services, I thought I heard someone singing in a different language during worship….of course I had no idea what I was hearing. During an altar call, I made my way up to the front, and God did a thing that I was absolutely unaware of, a thing I had no words for and zero understanding of. The Holy Spirit came over me like a flood. I slowly dropped to my knees with my hands raised, and I quietly began speaking in a language that wasn’t my own.
That night I went home, asking God what on earth just happened. As I was on my hands and knees in the quietness of my bedroom, it happened again. Except this time, I started weeping and weeping and weeping. As I finally got up and made my way to the bed, I happened to look at the clock on my nightstand, utterly shocked when I noticed 4 hours had gone by…..I genuinely thought I had been praying for no more than 30 minutes.
20 years later I find myself praying for my 5 kids that God would do the same thing in them, unbeknownst to them - that He would impart a radical, life-altering love to them that would sweep over every ounce of their being. I’ve never spoken in tongues in front of people, but I do daily in my secret place. Although the gifts have been perverted by man, it’s so very worth exploring the depths of the Holy Spirit - with the only cost being the relinquishing of preconceived notions, pride, and the acknowledgment that maybe it’s okay if we don’t have all the answers.

Which language is your tongue? Do you understand the tongue you are speaking? If not, it can't be from Holy Spirit. The tongue from Holy Spirit is another legitimate foreign language that can be understood by yourself or by another person if interpreted. This is why bible says: "If any man speaks in tongue, - - - let one interpret." 1 Corinthians 14:27 The spirit anointed true Christians in the first century CE were given the gift of tongue so that they can spread the good news to other nations without having to learn the language of those nations. These days, as this video showed, too many people claim to speak in tongues but they are actually speaking gibberish no one, including the person speaking, can understand or interpret.

Im of Greek background and speak the language also. In my early years I was sharing the gospel with an Arab mate and prayed for him in tongues briefly. It’s likely that there are times where the Holy Spirit bridges a language barrier, like your praying for an Aramaic guy and how it happened in acts 2. Also I think there are many people who use it willy nilly like how mike is describing. I say this coming from a charismatic upbringing. My grandma would sometimes give a word in tongues during worship, and someone would interpret it. Im always skeptical of the interpretation though. My grandma sounded like she was speaking Russian if I were to say.
Consider also that often times a disagreement or misunderstanding can get broken down to our own definitions of what a word or phrase means. Mike seems like a rather literal guy and it seems like the case he’s making is that these people aren’t speaking a full on language the way it would be spoken by a native speaker. Whereas in the instance of your praying over the Aramaic man there were several words that he was able piece together.
I think tongues is a thing but I think a lot of folks are mistaken.

Speaking in tounges is very biblical. There are people who fake it for attention and others who are truly experiencing what is described in the Bible. What happened at Pentecost can still happen today because the Spirit that provoked the supernatural then is the same Spirit that provokes it today. Stop saying that speaking in tounges isn't real, as there are many who have experienced it for themselves. Speaking in tounges is when we surrender vowels and syllables to the Holy Spirit so that He can make the words coming out of our mouths. It's basically the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's prayers for us materialized. Please seek the Bible and God about the topic, not your own understanding or other people's judgement on the matter. God bless u❤❤❤

At Pentecost tongues were used as a sign of them being baptized in the Holy Spirit and then used to allow them to witness to the people in their own language. It is clear in the bible that the baptism of the Holy Spirit was followed with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Tongues are explained to be used three ways in the bible. As a prayer language where you are praying to God about something that you are not sure about what to do, for what you know not..the spirit makes utterances to God for you. As a word from God during a church meeting when the Lord wants to speak to the people. It is to be done in order, by 1 to 3 people at the most, followed by an interpretation. And as a way to witness to people of a different language like it was used at Pentecost. Everything God does, Satan tries to copy, so of course there are many abuses and lost people trying to copy tongues. There really are few real Christians that understand and use tongues correctly. Paul said he wished that the people spoke in tongues as much as he did and that we were not to forbid speaking in tongues. You are using examples and quotes from secular Historians, who of course did not understand how God or how Satan worked and also lost church people who Satan has deceived, as your proof....you should know better. We are to go by the bible only if we see something that is not scriptural and use scripture to correct it. 1 Corinthians 14 KJV verifies what I have said. Ending with verses 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Satan has done a great job of confusing the issue of tongues making many Christians use it incorrectly, teach it incorrectly, or refuse to study and follow the scriptures because of fear of error or false teaching about what the scriptures do say.

You should pay closer attention to what they said hearing the Pentecostal tongue:
      Act 2:6-8
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
"his own language" and "our own tongue" use the same Greek word. Tongue is put for language. Where Paul says in 1 Cor 14:21
In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
      He is quoting Isaiah 28:21
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
And here, the Hebrew definitely translates to a foreign language. Paul was talking about foreign languages when he claims to speak several, as indicated in Acts 21:40 "... he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue ... " Again, tongue is put for language. As you already know, God is not the author of confusion.

Dear brother Michael, I appreciate this teaching on tongues so much. Many years ago now, I experienced outright rejection from another so-called believer, because when asked if I spoke in tongues, I said no. I was then told that I was not really born again! It hurt me so much at the time, because I was looking for someone to pray with me about a family situation, and was away from home - feeling spiritually alone. This happened at an outdoor festival, where I noticed an artist signed their paintings with a christian fish symbol. I asked about it and got this "slap in the face" so to speak, instead of the encouragement that I had hoped to find.

Well, that person was wrong, because tongues is Scripturally not proof of salvation.
If tongues proved one is saved, then Paul shouldn't have baptized the new converts in Acts 19, until AFTER he had laid his hands on them to receive the Spirit!
And if tongues proved salvation, then in Acts 8, the new believers should have all been rebaptized after the Holy Ghost finally fell on them.
However... it seems the Apostles did look for an outward sign to prove that a new believer had actually received the Holy Spirit...
Otherwise, why would the Apostles make the dangerous trip to Samaria in Acts 8?
And otherwise, why did Paul lay his hands on the new believers he had just baptized in Acts 19?
Modern doctrine says we must take it for granted that all who are born of the Spirit automatically have received the Holy Spirit...
But that would mean Jesus Himself wouldn't have needed the Holy Spirit to descend on Him after his baptism. Because He was conceived by the Holy Ghost!
Being born of the Spirit simply means it was the Spirit who regenerated us.
But receiving the Holy Spirit happens later, after we are God's children. Luke 11:11-13

You were mislead. You can be born again & not speak/pray in tongues. It doesn't define your salvation. Getting baptized by the Holy Spirit is what brings on tongues. It's like adding fertilizer to your prayer life - you don't NEED it to grow but it will give you exponential growth if you get a hold of it. I’ve always found that the counterfeits gave proof to there being an original. I’ve spoken in tongues, and definitely don’t want to be deceived, and after reading 1 Corinthians 14 I can’t help but think that what I’ve experienced holds its ground in scripture. I’ve seen tongues abused and worshipped over God himself, and it’s turned me away from it for a while now. It’s a shame, if this is truly a gift God has given for our intimacy with him, that we should use it to bring attention or glory to ourselves. I cannot be angry at someone for disliking this topic or the prospect of tongues being real. As someone who’s experienced it, I would say I only feel a greater grief of the Holy Ghost in that something holy has been treated as common.

@@johnramirez3247 Paul said "if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful." You need to read 1Corinthians 14 several times and soak up what the scripture says, not come at it with preconceived ideas you have learned from other people.
If you are praying in a language God has given you, you are being edified by your communion with God through the Holy Spirit. You are not possessed or in a trance or anything silly like that, - you are using a gift that God has given you, and you are in complete control of that gift, to start or stop whenever you will.
No doubt there is self deception involved in a lot of instances, and yes, the pagan religions also copy God's miracles just like the Egyptian magicians copied Moses, but that does not mean the real thing doesn't exist. This guy needs to let go of his prejudicial bias and read 1Corinthians 14 again, carefully and prayerfully, and realize that the apostle Paul actually did know what he was talking about. Those who say spiritual gifts are not for today wilfully ignore such scriptures as "the gifts and calling of God are without repentance" simply to justify their preconceived beliefs.

1 Corinthians 14:22 is my favorite rebuke for those who speak tongues in church. Tongues are meant for the non believers to come to belief, not for believers. The scripture clearly shows we shouldn’t speak unknown tongues in front of believers as. Many times it has lead believers astray. Paul was very wise to make that distinction.
In fact, they should read and understand that whole chapter.

Many people in Pentecostalism are enslaved by their feelings almost euphoric and ecstatic- however, Paul the Apostle never spoke about feeling as being part of Christian experience but rather to know God's will, to grown in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be convinced, to know and be assured of their standing in Christ. Over emphasis on feeling turns one attention inwards - we are to fix our eyes on Jesus and be objective not subjective and feelings. I'll pray for you! God bless!❤

People who speak in "tongues" are the same as people who volunteer from an audience to be hypnotized. They are told that they are chickens so they act like chickens, then when they are snapped out of it, they don't remember being chickens for a minute.
Both want to be a part of something amazing.
Back in the day, when I was seeking purpose and belonging in my life, I went to a Pentecostal church where you are told that everyone has the ability to speak in tongues. I went forward when the call was announced and was instructed to just start making audible sounds and God's spirit will take over so I did and waited. Not wanting to pretend, I just stood there for a few minutes while doing as he said. Nothing. And I wasn't about to fake it, as I felt was happening to those around me.
I went back to that church a few more times and when tongues wouldn't happen for me and I wouldn't pretend to do so, I was ignored. So I stopped attending.
There is a psychological groupthink that is present where tongues appear. An in-group/out-group type pressure that is very thick in the "Are you really filled with the Holy Spirit" cult.

Most of the tongues I have witnessed from other people is obviously self learned stammering out of consonant and vowels assembled in a way to mimic speech. Some sound more fluid and language like than others. There’s guidelines in the Bible for its use in the early church, which non of the modern day Pentecostal type churches follow. Also the Bible says that not all speak in tongues. This destroys the classic Pentecostal argument for its use and purpose.

I also when to the Vineyard Church many years ago, people stand up in the middle of the sermon. Clearly speaking for the Lord. They love to say “Have I not” , like “have I not given these gifts for your growth” or “have I not labored for my sheep”. The pastors wife ran off with another woman, and another Vineyard guest speaker who amazed me with his stories of healings, a week later was fired for sleeping with the wives of others he was counseling. Test yourself to see if you know the difference between a clean animal and an unclean animal. Or, clean food and unclean food. My point is that if you have a hard time spotting the difference in that which you can see, imagine the difficulty you will have discerning those things which you cannot see. If you only know English and never learned another language, and there are people present who speak another language, like Chinese, then the Holy Spirit may gift you the ability to speak their language or tongue. The bible says there must be someone present who can interpret what is said. 99.9% of people who speak tongues are making noise without a clue because they feel an emotion to make sounds. This is wrong and usually learned from false teachers. Study the gifts in the bible, my guess is your wife is moved by emotion and speaking gibberish.

The gift of tongues you see today in these fake stage circus heretics or their followers, I'm sorry, is 100% NOT from the holy spirit. This is not something you practice (source? THE ENTIRE BIBLE). No, this isn't a private prayer language either. I'm sorry. There is no verse that's legitimately connected with "prayer language" The thing you're doing to do is nonsense at best. At worst...oh boy. Attacking a man of God who literally broke it down for you is not of God. Costi Hinn's video on this is VERY good and provides a lot more information and history. The entire pentacostal movement was deceived and not just by this.
So yes BE careful and I'm not using fear tactics as you attempted (which sadly you have also been deceived & conditioned to believe in bondage). You should read up on the history of how this phenomenon was "reintroduced" in the early 1900s.
What was reintroduced would up to be a total mess and lead to all kinds of consequences especially when missionaries traveled to places like Japan where some said they were actually speaking in other known languages like Japanese. Not only was it not Japanese, but the pentacostal missionaries at the turn of the centuries who went to Japan were literally and figuratively lost in every way. They needed help with literally everything.
How anyone could watch Copeland or Paula White and not see the deception and their HORRIBLE fruit is lacking even basic discernment.

This is so very important because it isn't just the fake tongues, it's all the other heresy that comes with it.
Hinn, Copeland and others preach a false gospel while they rob their followers. The money they steal does not go toward God's will for the things we see he cares about in scripture. How anyone continues to follow this and not change course shows the spiritual power of deception, the desire for wealth and the need to be little gods (which is the original sin)

      2. If your spirit is edified without understanding what is being said, then why does anybody need to understand anything at all, why do we need interpretation if we can be edified without any understanding ?
      3. Paul says that the gifts are to profit everybody 1 cor 12 v 7 ....so if you use it with self edification as your objective, is that not a selfish and wrong use of the gift? and isn't that statement a criticism rather than a recommendation ?

I spoke in the jibber-jabber. It never made sense to me. So for the last 30 years I've pondered this whole thing. 20 years ago I left the Assemblies of God but I still wondered about tongues. 2 years ago in a prayer to the father I expressed that I was setting it all aside because I didn't know where it was coming from and I no longer wanted any confusion in seeking to worship him in spirit and in truth. I literally asked him for no dreams and no visions because of all of the confusion in the world today. Far too many people are running after signs and wonders. This will lead many astray as they follow a false light. Lucifer will present himself as an angel of light and this has crept into the church.

Stop worshipping the KJV. It's a good translation, but its main problem is that it's in archaic English. Better to get a modern translation that people can understand.

If a demon or familiar spirit can mimic something of God does this make it invalid? Speaking in tongues is an obviously provable phenomenon and we have evidence in letters that even George Washington spoke in tongues often. A "prayer language" is quite different from the gift of tongues and tends to be better suited for at home prayer or if someone can interpret it. It does come from the Holy Spirit and I believe is dangerous to speak so quickly against it. You do not have to accept the truth of to the matter, but as someone with a prayer language I cannot deny the grace given to me by the Lord.

What does Paul say about speaking in tongues KJV?
[27] If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. [28] But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. Paul also said. [23] If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?. He also made it quite clear that if there is no interpreter to keep silent. There never seems to be interpreters. How can anyone gain benefit or stand in agreement with what They do not understand ?

I've even seen preachers try to teach people to force it, and just start doing it and that it would just flow once they become comfortable with it. If it came from the holy spirit it would be natural and wouldn't need to be forced. Even when I watched TBN alot years ago and seen many preachers try to teach people to do this, I never felt right about it & never did it. My church luckily doesn't speak "tongues", however we have a female pastor and though she doesn't give sermons, she is our pastor's wife. She does worship service, like singing and I believe calling for God to fill the room with the Holy spirit before the sermon begins. I usually notice that when she prays over women, most women fall over or cry. It bothers me because that's not biblical. I'm told they are being overwhelmed by the Holy spirit and the women are more sensitive. When I've read the gospel, the Apostles were filled with the Holy spirit and they were empowered, strengthen, not overwhelmed. I am still at the church. The people are kind and clearly love Jesus. My pastor gives great sermons. He doesn't water it down but my main problem is the "slain" in the spirit.

We are living in a time when there still are many people who are highly misled by the erroneous notions and redefinition of tongues that came to Christianity roughly 120 years ago. I think Michael's way of explaining is truthful and helpful. I am aware that many people have learned false notions about what is taught by the Bible on this subject. In our time, more people are becoming aware that what "tongues" was redefined as starting in about the first decade of the 20th century is not the same thing as is talked about in the Bible and hundreds of years of church history. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit when I was 14 years of age and a new believer in Jesus. It was in my bedroom when I was praying. I spoke in another tongue. I do not think I had ever heard anyone speak in tongues before in my life though I can't swear to that. I do know that I had read about it in the bible at that point and that I was surprised by it. That was nearly 47 years ago. I have spoken in tongues since then thousands of times, chiefly in prayer which is very scriptural and probably is one of the chief purposes of the gift for the modern believer in that it allows one's inner spirit to communicate with God in ways that our own linguistics cannot properly express to God. I Cor. 14:14-15 14 "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." Paul says he will pray in the spirit, about the benefits of private prayer in the spirit but he also discourages a public usage of it where the listener has no benefit in hearing it (vs. 16-17). Paul thanked God that he spoke in tongues (properly) more than them. There are actually seven different tongues described in scripture with different applications. It has been a tremendous source of strength to me. For a man who believes in the bible so much, I am sort of surprised that you are so dismissive about a very solid section of God's word but because you dismiss it so outrightly you also fail to understand it which is often the way with scriptural things. I wish you well and have no doubt I will see you in heaven because of the cross of Jesus. That is when I will fully know as I am known and you too.

I have noticed that even those who are good teachers that speak against tongues have them themselves never had the Holy Spirit fall on them.
It’s not something that I practiced or understood that could be practiced and I was not even in church when it happened, I was in my bedroom, actually calling out to God about my dog believe it or not. I was just calling out to Jesus with my whole heart, and the spirit fell on me and I began speaking another language.
My neighbor had it happened to her in her car, while she was driving and calling out to Jesus as she was talking to Jesus about her situation and she could barely pull over. She said it was like water flowing over her.

Grew up Southern Baptist where I was not exposed at all. In the past few years I have wanted to deepen my relationship with God I simply would pray to ask for this gift. My prayer was "Lord, If this brings me closer to You, I want it". I was never "taken over by the Spirit" but started practicing syllables until it comes out naturally now. It's like an on/off switch that I AM IN CONTROL OF. And before I start, I always preface with the Lord, "whatever comes out of my mouth let it bring honor and glory to You, Father". I can't say it has brought me closer or helped with any miraculous stories (as some charismatics would argue) but It seems to just be a heart issue for me. My heart is looking for every possibly avenue to grow closer. It's still strange and new and I'm navigating through it with the Lord. Praying for clarity and peace to continue or not. But as of now, it just isn't doing anything for me although I will continue. I'd rather sit in silence in His presence than cloud the room with words I get nothing out of. Lastly, any long term tongue speaking pentecostals watching this video, please do not take offense. I see too many that get down right angry when someone disagrees with this practice like they just denied Jesus himself lol. THIS ARGUMENT IS NOT A SALVATION ISSUE. Love all.

When babies first learn to speak, they keep repeating only one or two syllables: "mama" or "dada". There is nothing wrong with that. The Lord will develop your prayer language the more you go along. Do not despise the day of small beginnings!

As you mentioned, language has a structure and in the 9 years I've been a believer I've yet to hear one that actually resembles the structure of a language. Sad so many insecure Christians feel they have to speak tongues. The most important thing for me is an authentic relationship with our creator. The likes of Benny frankly make my skin crawl.

People are not supposed to speak in tongues together all at once in a meeting because someone who is not familiar with tongues would come in and think you are crazy. That is exactly what the Bible says not to do, and that is what happened to you. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Spekaing in tongues is a scary idea at first but it is very biblical. There are tongues of MEN (earthly language) and tongues of ANGELS (heavenly language).
    1 Corinthians 13:1 KJV
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Heaven tongues are channeled to God in prayer and not to men; they're coded languages, hidden from the devil and his forces. Since they're intended for heavenly ears, men cannot understand them.
    1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him ; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Speaking in tongues edifies the speaker, but are of no benefit to the listeners, since they cannot understand what is being said.
    1 Corinthians 14:4 KJV
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
There are "tongues" that are intended for men, to pass across God's message; such need interpretation. They are often earthly languages which may be foreign or local to the audience. When such "tongues" are being interpreted, they become prophecies.
    1 Corinthians 14:13 KJV
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
    1 Corinthians 14:5 KJV
I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
"Tongues" can be faked or inspired by demons. Hardly can you tell the difference between demons inspired tongues and those inspired by the Holy Spirit by just hearing them; you need to be equipped with the gift of discerning of spirits.
We have to be careful how we criticize "tongues", lest we would be found to be sinning against the Holy Spirit (by attributing his working to demons or some other source).

One thing I noticed about modern tongues (even when I thought I had the gift) is that people who speak in tongues almost always end their phrases with words ending in vowels or y's with vowel sounds; rarely ever do tongues end in consonants. I'd easily bet that out of a hundred examples, at least 95% of tongues speakers end their phrases in vowel sounds...and that convinces me it's not a real language.

I had a slain in the Spirit experience no one else caused, but it was at a pentecostal group gathering. I had felt mentally agitated that day, and I was standing and suddenly lost consciousness just for a moment, fell on my back pretty gently and felt this happy feeling come over me. I think I even laughed, and I didn't want to get up. It was bizarre. It really was confusing to make sense of later on because it seemed like a harmless maybe even positive spiritual experience. But I still think it wasn't from God. That's just my feeling on it.

    • @maryellen6153

Well, being led by feelings isn't really wise.
Question: did this draw you toward God or away from Him?
If it drew you toward Him, you can know it wasn't the enemy.
You don't need to fear the enemy if you're truly seeking God.
If you ask your Heavenly Father for something holy, He won't allow you to receive something evil. Luke 11:11-13

I totally agree with what you are teaching about tongues! I have been around this in churches when someone suddenly breaks out in gibberish talk and something in my spirit just feels such a grieving and confusion surrounding it. Also, nothing I have read in scripture portrays this type of behavior. What upsets me most are the pastors who allow it and say nothing which can only mean they believe its of God or they are too cowardly to address it. The first sign Jesus warned about in Matt 24 was to be not deceived and I'm afraid so many are when it comes to the gift of tongues because they do not read or study God's word. Thank you for making this so clear. I hope this teaching reaches many. God Bless!

God gave it to me. It IS supernatural. No one can take it away from me...not their owb unbelief, not their doubt of this gift, not their mocking, not their naysaying. I am being built up in the most holy faith. Thank you Jesus. I've seen someone near death who knew nothing about tongues but who had been baptized and received Christ as saviour, spontaneously begin speaking in a complete, succinct, articulate foreign language that didn't sound like any language I've ever heard on Earth. Edit: who never had any issues of mental illness and was a very strong minded down to earth person.
There are THREE languages of tongues in the scriptures.
    1. Public speaking in tongues in other known human languages that people of that language can perfectly understand.
    2. Private spirit language, a language, that can be gibberish if your want to call it that, between your and God, spoken only privately. The ultimate extension of that is groaning of the Spirit. It is speaking your heart out without words.
    3. Speaking prophetically in a spiritual language not known to any man in the church where the Lord will also supply an interpreter who will be able to interpret the prophecy into normal language. I know this is true because I've had people in church speaking in tongues (which sounded beautiful by the way) which I immediately knew what the Holy Spirit was saying and was clearly able to interpret it.

    • @jeprodigalson792
      @jeprodigalson792 ปีที่แล้ว

Private Spirit language? Where does it say Private Spirit language in the bible?
You mean speaking utterances that are unspoken? That's Praying within your spirit. lol Not Private Spirit language. Gotta stop stretching scripture to something its not. And understand Paul uses a lot of expressions. Greek expressions (not American)
Public speaking... is to edify the unbeliever... you edify the unbeliever with the Gospels,..not pagan gibberish.
Speaking prophetically is Proclaiming the Word of God..... not speaking pagan tongues.
You want to hear what the new age and witches are speaking? Search Light Language... same exact gibberish tongues.
If you speak in tongues... in public... you need an interpreter. Period. Otherwise you edify no one.
