As we wake up in our stealthy park up we realise we have not positioned ourselves in the best place!
After a brief stop in Painswick we arrive at the pub where we have arranged to meet up with Stew and Jane @getawaygeese
We enjoy a couple of meals, a few drinks and plenty of laughs together before it is time to head our separate ways.
Plans are thwarted by too much traffic in Gloucester so instead we make our way to the Cotswold village of Winchcombe.
The following day our bad luck continues as we struggle to find parking in Bourton-on-Water and so head on to Stow-on-Wold just in time to see the Cheltenham Pipe Band and enjoy a light lunch at the Cotswold Garden Tearooms before we take a scenic route home to avoid the motorway.

Not just me then. Gloucester. Other road users. Car parks closed. Tearooms closed. Don’t trust amateurs directing traffic. And it was after Ken’s comment about leaf blowers, I realised we must have been cast from the same mould. I feel your pain!

try drilling a 1/4" hole in the pot lid. It cuts down on boil-overs, gives a visiblel jet of steam as the pot's hot, and doesn't loose any real heat or make a mess.

Ah, nice to see my old stomping ground. I grew up in Matson in Gloucester, and used to walk the country roads up to Painswick Beacon. Gloucester is a lot bigger and busier now though. The surrounding villages were always nice to visit.

Lemon curd on crusty white bread toasted is the thing I miss the most since I went on a health kick. I could almost taste it!
It's nice to see parts of the country I have yet to visit the canals museum in Gloucester is a fun place especially the steering simulator.
I did notice when you were looking for a parking space that if some people had parked properly you would have fitted in the empty space next to them, my late father taught me to drive (retired motorway police) and I make sure that when going into a space I reverse in and the vehicle is dead centre even though I own a 4x4 pickup truck belong to a group who hate Chelsea tractors something that I was told years ago it is common courtesy when on a hill to give the vehicle coming up the right of way as it is easier to start going down than up.
One thing instead of using a cloth to clear the windows I have invested in a Karcher window vacuum it has really earned its keep.

Hi Carol & Ken. Black pudding is a sausage made from powdered pigs blood with oats etc, white pudding is more of normal sausage meat with grains etc. Veg pudding here we call veg roll, simply because there's some veg in it, usually leeks etc. Clonakilty puddings are posh, and delicious versions of these.

Lemon curd - the best is home-made. It is so easy to make as well. I have just had some on a piece of toasted baguette for my tea - absolutely delicious.

Hi both. Sorry you had such a mayhem type of a day! It goes like that sometimes doesn’t it? Loved some of the places you visited though. Beautiful architecture. Thanks for the support and shout out too! Funny thing is, we went back to the car park where it happened ( during the day) on our latest trip and we both agreed that we would still park there again ( if the incident hadn’t happened) the car park is in a decent looking area, no rubbish or evidence of drug taking or broken glass etc. Ken saying he would have parked there made us feel better about things too. I can understand clearing wet leaves from pavements if they are a slip hazard. But dry leaves 🍂 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️

I've not been around Bourton & Stow on the Wold since the 70s, so great to catch a glimpse again. Ken, even though you couldn't recall that John Wesley was the founder of the Methodist Movement, you may know this famous quote by him - "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." or hymns such as "Hark the Heralds Angels Sing", "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" written by his brother Charles, a prolific lyricist who wrote thousands of hymns as well as being a preacher.

Again you are in parts of the world that I know. I live in Norway (where you drove past and not filmed in the last episode). This time you circle around where my aunt lives, in Witney. I have visited her once and we of course took a tour at Blenheim and in Oxford.
We went to Witney in 2019 when we had our caravan 🙂👍

I had just been looking myself though and came across a short video which reveals that there is a Scots church (St Andrews) as well as a Scottish Association in Cheltenham - expat Scots! One of those fellows and and Irishman founded the band. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been wanting to go to Bourton on the Water and was wondering if driving there and parking would be a nightmare or not? I know it was Remembrance Day but I’m still not sure about driving there. Looks so pretty in the village. Hope Ken is on the mend too! Xx
There is another car park (I live a few miles away) - at the end of the high street turn left and it's up behind the petrol station. If you turn into Bourton from the Fosseway at the lights. then it's on that road and on your right. Do check though if you come in a camper van as I think they were no longer allowing them to park there at some point soon. For a tourist hotspot it does makes parking a pain! Though in the summer a couple of fields open and it's cheap all day parking, both are off the road that you turn into from the traffic lights - one if by the school. Have fun :)

I hope you don't mind but as someone that knows how to lose weight quickly may I give you a few pointers? I just lost 40 lbs in a month. If you eat bread, it's the same as deserts. If you skip the bread and other carbs you can eat desert. Avoid all for quick weight loss. For sweetness get Raw Kombucha, it great for digestion.
Bone broth, sprouts, meat, cabbage, quinoa, beans, things like that work wonders. I know that beans and quinoa are carbs but they move things along. I have lost 120 in 3 months a couple of times. I just fall off the wagon in stressful situations, hence weight gain. That's with no exercise, btw.
Hi Laurel. Many thanks for the weight loss tips they are appreciated. I usually cut carbs and do intermittent fasting so I agree it works well. I can’t keep it up continuously so I end up enjoying myself for a while and then rebooting 👍

Can anyone tell me what the curved arrows on the road at 14.39 represent? I saw them when I was driving in the UK last year and I couldn’t work out what they signified.🇦🇺
They are to warn of the end of an overtaking zone. At that point I had a solid line, opposing traffic a dashed line that was coming to an end 👍

Silly question time - how do you know when the van is level. Do you have some inbuilt spirit level to help?
We level the van purely by feel. It’s a skill you grow the more you do it. Nothing improves this skill more than a night without sleep because your head is too low. The bigger the van the harder it is.

Funnily enough the veggie pudding was our favourite of the three. We often cut out meat and enjoy meals like a good vegetable curry but could never go full on vegetarian ☺️

You have indeed meny small old intresting villages and towns in UK and pubs with nice meals and drinks. On Blenheim castle, was the robbery of the Golden Loo ever clered out?! Ah yes, I remember the theft of the golden loo from Blenheim Palace. As far as I know it has never been recovered and no-one has been charged with the theft despite several arrests.
