Hi everyone. Some of you may be wondering why I didn't score this restaurant. It was mostly because I was so focused on the Phaal challenge for this review however I would definitely recommend giving Mughal Dynasty a go. if you wish to skip to the Phaal Challenge, it is at the 9 minute mark. Came up randomly on my feed and started watching and 2 minutes in was just taken by how considerate and decent a bloke Gary is. Worried about other customers, anxious about the challenge. No big headed boasts or swagger just a guy who obviously has a passion for his subject, an attention to detail to his video and is a really interesting guy with an engaging personality. I for one learned a lot from this and won’t be going near a Phaal with the Madras long established as my limit. If however I am in Maidstone will certainly visit the Mughal Dynasty. Great stuff.
Water is the worst thing to drink when eating an extremely hot curry, it makes it hotter on your tongue. Yoghurt or milk is what you need… Keep up the great work Gary…

Bless ya Gaz, you shouldnt feel like you need to eat such a hot curry when youre not comfortable doing so. I love watching your videos mate, i loved the one where you tried the east end pie shops, and also the one where you went for fish and chips at hestons plaice, (see what i did there?) youre a very humble likeable chap mate. Keep doing what youre doing, and i will keep watching. (also, im a chef of 25 years) and its refreshing to see a normal down to earth fella like yourself reviewing food, and not some pompous, pretentious person. Take care Gary, much respect. (from a fan of yours.)
Wow from a chef that is really a great compliment, I really appreciate that. Back to normal reviews from now on this was like a furnace in my mouth 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵
When you said "it's not too bad", all I could think about was the famous scene in Only Fools and Horses with the chandeliers, where Del boy looks and says "Brace yourself" just before things take a dive.
My favourite ever food review! Great (if unwise) to try the Phaal, but a gazillion kudos to you for doing it. More importantly though, a stunningly professional review of the rest of the meal. You're a star!
Phaal, you nutcase! My old mate Gus, who was a flight navigator during the war in Afghanistan, reckoned as well, no problem. His already big head grew even larger and redder. THEN we saw the disclaimer, (which he had signed). 'This meal could lead to excessive blood pressure and/or heart failure!'
@Turbomgzt 😅😅😅 any kind if hot food. I remember eating a naga raw for a challenge. Long story. Pretty easy. Blam 😅😅😅 Well, that cobra lasted about 20 seconds 😅😅😅
New to the channel and I have to say I was in tears with laughter. The food looked so nice but that Phaal looked evil. Bet you put the loo paper in the fridge before you used it. Cool the ring of fire when needed. Great review, very, very funny. Can't believe you managed to eat so much of the Phaal. Got to say that Laziz looked amazing as well. Need to try that. Keep up the great work.

Great review as always Gary and the food looked fab however in regards to the phall It’s beyond me why anyone would want to do this to themselves ? Please don’t feel that you let us down, you’ve probably saved 1000’s from doing it to themselves.
Hi thanks for following 🎉but could you send me you bank details and I'll arrange a subscription so you can carry on enjoying and helping the channel grow 😊
If you're eating spicy food and struggle with the burn, don't drink water, water just moves the Capsaicin around instead of neutralizing it, drink milk, it'll do the job properly.
@@GaryEats Anytime! I do love spicy food myself but don't always respond well if it's hotter than I expect. My face gets all red and I start sweating lmao.

What I love about you Gary is that softly spoken, honest approach ….. and I really mean honest approach. I really want to try (or avoid) places you go to, especially as you relatively local to me. Other TH-camrs doing the same should take note, after 5 minutes of them talking about their car, girlfriend or whatever can be entertaining (though often tiresome) the real deal, is going to a recommended restaurant, trying suggested/different dishes and making a judged appraisal. Well done sir.
You didn't let us down mate, you did very well. I am pretty sure I couldn't manage a Phaal these days. I say these days because back in the 90's I worked for an Indian taxi company here in the UK driving a 16 seater minibus on a Friday and Saturday nights. At the end of the shift at about 5am, the other drivers would all get meals from the local Indian take away. Now and again, the boss would order a super hot one for me as a joke because I told them I liked 'Asian Style' curries. Regardless of how hot it was I would eat it and try my hardest not to cringe. Back in the good old days. Tell you what though Gary, if you think that Phaal was hot now, wait till tomorrow morning when you sit on that pot. I bet that was equally as fun...........
I had this, decades ago. The staff told me not to have it, but I played the 'big man', and went ahead. The following morning, was so painful and sore, when it came out red. Never again. Who knows what it does to one's inside.
Discovered the channel the other day and I'm absolutely loving it. Fair play on getting through that much, Gary. You're an absolute machine! Hottest I've ever done is a vindaloo, and even then, the next day wasn't worth it. Can't imagine how awful the next day was for you. All the best!
Hi Gary, I was advised in Thailand that drinking milk is better than water if a curry is too hot. Google says that drinking milk is better than water when a curry is too hot because milk contains a protein called casein, which acts like a "soap" to bind to the capsaicin (the compound responsible for spiciness) in chilli peppers, effectively washing it away from your taste buds and reducing the burning sensation, while water spreads the capsaicin around, making the heat worse; essentially, "like dissolves like" as milk's fat content readily absorbs the oily capsaicin molecules. Respect to Google for that.
Friday night piss up in Croydon back in the late seventies we always hit the curry house after the pub closed at 11. How the staff put up with us I'll never know but rowdy as we were we always had a big nosh up, and tipped heavy. My mate buster, usually a vindaloo man would occasionally go for a fahl but always had a cucumber riata and glass of milk with it. We used to watch and laugh too. Fond memories. You did great Gary, keep it up mate. Love your show and wish you all the success in the world.
i doff my cap to you sir! tried it once in glasgow, half a spoonful did me! my friend from norway ate his own phal, then finished mine off without fuss or fanfare! made me feel quite the lightweight! give me the korma and the coconuts every day! loving the uploads! getting through them slowly but surely!

Gallant try Gary, all power to you. Mughal Dynasty is probably the best curry house in Maidstone if not the whole of Kent, thanks for visiting my part of the world. If I may make a suggestion, I've been told by several of my Indian friends that one of the best things to wash down a REALLY hot curry is (believe it or not) a cup of tea, apparently water or lager makes it worse!

As someone who likes extremely spicy food and have partaken in a Phaal on a number of occasions I take my hat off to you Gary. Its clear you're not too keen on the really spicy stuff. My favorite is a Phall. But if I'm dining out I am nervous of getting hiccups, but not happened yet. Its best just to dive in, as you did. Once you get the taste there is no going back - though some restaurants, tone it down the heat. Looks like you got the real deal - great effort and review.
Oh Gary, I rewatched this after watching the video with Greeno having the hot curry. Honestly I was absolutely cracking up again watching this, I had tears running down my cheeks ! Bloody good on you though for doing these and I don’t blame you for not doing anymore ! Thanks Gary! 😊

It's not too bad!! I said the exact same thing when I first tried a Phaal and 3 seconds later I was almost in tears. A word of advice for the next time you try something spicy. Do not drink water. Wow, thank you
Loved the sound of your shoes shuffling on the floor at 11.24, the exact moment the spices kicked in.
😊 thank you lol
Bless ya Gaz, you shouldnt feel like you need to eat such a hot curry when youre not comfortable doing so.
I love watching your videos mate, i loved the one where you tried the east end pie shops, and also the one where you went for fish and chips at hestons plaice, (see what i did there?)
youre a very humble likeable chap mate.
Amateur mistake to eat the Phaal with water. Every mouthful gets progressively worse. Needed a cream/milk based drink. Lassi always goes down a treat.
I know now Dave 🥵🥵
👆good advice
or sugar
I always (and have always told people this) it's like trying to put a fire out by pouring petrol on it, does nothing but spread the burn
Yoghurt and banana works well
Brilliant haven't laughed so much in along time
Your first mouthful
And you said
Ohh my god
Keep the show going
Fab
Thank you Eric really appreciated
Great recommendation so we travelled from Folkestone to try it
10 out of 10 best food we've had in a while
Thanks for the review Gary
I’m really pleased you gave it a go and all good 👍
It was a great effort! The Phaal is really hot, I've done it once but never again! You got further than most people would have done!
Thank you very much, but it was too spicy 🥵
Gary, I’ve watched a dozen or so of your reviews but this one earned my subscription! Making me laugh and hungry!
Thanks for subscribing, watching and commenting Wayne. This was a little too hot for me unfortunately 🥵🥵
My favourite ever food review! Great (if unwise) to try the Phaal, but a gazillion kudos to you for doing it. More importantly though, a stunningly professional review of the rest of the meal. You're a star!
That’s really appreciated thank so very much 🥵🥵
Brilliant and consistent reviews brother love your work 💯🔥👌
Thank you so much mate
Good God, I can’t believe you actually managed as much of the phaal as you did!
I gave it a go
That bill really makes a mockery of the £37 fish and chips, in quantity and quality.
Wow the food looks amazing. Can’t stop my mouth watering .
The food was excellent
Mouth watering at 4 am when you can only dream of such delishous food!
This was awful lol
I love it how even the most refined and erudite of brits can't resist making the "I'll be suffering tomorrow" comment when eating hot food.
Thankfully I didn’t suffer the next day
😂😂😂 From " That's not too bad " to " Oh my God " in one sec. 😂
LOL
You have a lot to learn about curries. Bye.
@Turbomgzt 😅😅😅 any kind if hot food.
I remember eating a naga raw for a challenge. Long story.
Pretty easy.
Blam 😅😅😅
Well, that cobra lasted about 20 seconds 😅😅😅
I just had to show this to my wife she cracked up laughing as well.. brilliant review as always.. thanks again Gary ❤❤❤
Thank you Dave I’m pleased you both enjoyed x
New to the channel and I have to say I was in tears with laughter. The food looked so nice but that Phaal looked evil. Bet you put the loo paper in the fridge before you used it. Cool the ring of fire when needed. Great review, very, very funny. Can't believe you managed to eat so much of the Phaal. Got to say that Laziz looked amazing as well. Need to try that. Keep up the great work.
Hello and thank you for subscribing, watching and commenting it’s very much appreciated, unbelievably I was ok in the morning which I couldn’t believe, hopefully see you on the next one tonight
@@mattsandilands6380 To release the endorphin Dragon.
You need to get out more if you were Im tears of laughter mate
Gary i could watch your content all the time mate. You're just a really happy and lovely man. Hope you keep it up, sending you lots of best wishes 🙂
That is very kind to say thank you very much
Respect on attempting the challenge brother, and all of the food looked great!
I appreciate it!
If you're eating spicy food and struggle with the burn, don't drink water, water just moves the Capsaicin around instead of neutralizing it, drink milk, it'll do the job properly.
Thank you very much for the information
@@GaryEats Anytime! I do love spicy food myself but don't always respond well if it's hotter than I expect. My face gets all red and I start sweating lmao.
A long time ago was with a few friends and we all decided to order a phall. The waiter looked puzzled and said, "Phall is only for drunks and madmen, which one are you"!!!
Lol!!
I'm usually both 🤣🤣
@@I_hunt_idiotspour all rice in and eat the lot with naan bread piece of piss lovely 😅😅
@@alanholgate3442 I agree....if it gets too much, drink mint raita with it. I usually use Warsteiner though. I actually enjoy the ring sting the next day....central heating for the botty!!!! 🤣🤣
@@I_hunt_idiots it never gets too much for me I dont get ring sting no more I can eat hottest food going not a problem mate 😂😂
Gary I love watching your videos.. your phaal challenge I keep returning to though as love it when you go into a panic… amuses me everytime!! Keep on doing what you do, you’re a legend and a top bloke!!
That is so kind to say thank you
09:50 As someone that llikes things hot I can say quite confidently... NO WATER! Ask for milk, water only makes it worse by activating more capciasen...
Thank you very much for the advice
Joghurt or a Salt lassi only...no water!!!!!
That's what I was going to say. Especially Ice water! Milk or a warm drink is better
That’s very kind thank you and so much appreciated, have a great weekend 👌😊
Thank you, that's very kind. It was so so spicy wow
Thank you so much for watching and commenting
Great job Gary, would say you nailed that.
Food looks delicious & reasonably priced for that meal.
Thank you and I totally agree 👍
"It's not too bad!"
2 seconds later:
"😶🤯🤯🤯"
Hahaha
Famous last words!
Oh Gary! Hilarious! Well done for having a go!
Thank you for watching and commenting
Hi Gary, I was advised in Thailand that drinking milk is better than water if a curry is too hot. Google says that drinking milk is better than water when a curry is too hot because milk contains a protein called casein, which acts like a "soap" to bind to the capsaicin (the compound responsible for spiciness) in chilli peppers, effectively washing it away from your taste buds and reducing the burning sensation, while water spreads the capsaicin around, making the heat worse; essentially, "like dissolves like" as milk's fat content readily absorbs the oily capsaicin molecules. Respect to Google for that.
Thank you very much for the advice Bill 👍
How many seconds from Its not too bad to Oh my god 😅 i burdt out laughing Gary
It was about 15 seconds, blew my head off lol 😂
Me too, just saying to myself `give it a few seconds` and then `Oh My God`. I burst out laughing .
Schoolboy error is ice water .. you need riata , yogurt or milk
Or maybe just order a korma
Toilet roll in the freezer for this one !
Definitely Andy lol
😂😂
Thank you very much, George but I have to say this was a very silly as it was simply too hot
@@GaryEats how my norwegian coworker (at the time) ateTWO was beyond me! haha
Hilarious, I especially liked the whimpering. This is something I would NEVER try. So well done on giving it a go.
That’s very kind to say, but I was a bit of a Muppet for doing it Daniel
Only recently started watching your videos and the reviews on your experience does be spot on you can see by what you've been served.but what am more amazed by you nearly like every comment maybe a few you missed but it shows you take comment reviews serious and take the time to read them.❤
Gary, my wife and I are watching this, and seriously we are not laughing at you, we are pissing ourselves.
Keep up the good work 😂😂😂😂
I’m really pleased you enjoyed this one. I’m not sure I did. 🥵🥵🥵😂😂
Gary, you seem such a lovely guy, I didn't think I would enjoy videos of a man reviewing resturants, but I'm really enjoying your videos. I didn't want to see you in pain!!
Thankfully I don’t do this often 🥵🥵🥵
Absolutely brilliant, so genuine and funny. Keep up the great work
Thank you very much
Im watching this again Gary 2nd time around is even better than the 1st time😂😂 im actually howling at your suffering as your face goes redder and redder with each bite I do apologise. One of the funniest reviews ive ever seen on youtube..
You clearly like to see me suffer Joseph 😂😂
Gallant try Gary, all power to you. Mughal Dynasty is probably the best curry house in Maidstone if not the whole of Kent, thanks for visiting my part of the world.
If I may make a suggestion, I've been told by several of my Indian friends that one of the best things to wash down a REALLY hot curry is (believe it or not) a cup of tea, apparently water or lager makes it worse!
Sorry Gary, but laughing my head off at this one "Not too bad" LOL, and the guys from the restaurant hilarious...
Best make this a new Ticktock challenge LOL
Thankfully, I can laugh now, Andrew, but only just it’s about six months later 🥵🥵😂😂😂
Absolute legend you are😂😂, that was brilliant viewing and hope you didn't suffer too much the following day. I break out in a sweat looking at a jar of mustard, absolutely useless I am😂😂😂. Best wishes from Bermondsey, "sarf" London 😂😊😊😊
That’s very kind in,y just recovered lol 😂😂🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
The presentation was fabulous. Glad the food lived up to the visual standards.
Thank you 😋
As someone who likes extremely spicy food and have partaken in a Phaal on a number of occasions I take my hat off to you Gary.
Its clear you're not too keen on the really spicy stuff. Most people just take a little bit of sauce and are chalked off. But you had quite a fair portion of it! 😅 fair play.
You are completely mad lol 🥵🥵🥵
My new favourite video ... Respectful of the restaurant but you have balls taking on that challenge......im glad your cameraman (son?) and staff enjoyed your experience....keep up the great reviews , regards John.
Thank you very much, John. This was a bit silly but it was a bit of fun.
My favorite is a Phall. But if I'm dining out I am nervous of getting hiccups, but not happened yet. Its best just to dive in, as you did. Once you get the taste there is no going back - though some restaurants, tone it down the heat. Looks like you got the real deal - great effort and review.
Thank you Mike
Oh Gary, I rewatched this after watching the video with Greeno having the hot curry. Honestly I was absolutely cracking up again watching this, I had tears running down my cheeks ! Bloody good on you though for doing these and I don’t blame you for not doing anymore ! Thanks Gary! 😊
Gary…started watching you a few weeks ago….now I’m watching everyday & have subscribed….
However!! Due to watching this upload my Mrs & I are now eating a Curry on a Monday night at 9pm?!! What have you done
Keep up the good work…you’re a likeable guy and I’m enjoying your videos
Merry Christmas
Kev
Thank you very much, Kev. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well.
Stick to Vindaloo Gary🤣. Perhaps a review of a couple of spots on The Curry Mile in Manchester; kind of a bucket list trip for me that I suspect I'll not get to. Would love to see you review a couple of their well known spots for Vindaloo. Sorry for watching and commenting on aged videos; however, I just recently discovered your channel and find I can't get enough. Keep up the great work!
That is on my list to do next year, so thank you very much
Just a word of advice, any liquid other than milk will amplify the spice!
Thank you very much for the advice
I was laughing hysterically as you said "if youre laughing, I dont blame you". This might be the funniest video Ive seen in ages.
I’m pleased you enjoyed, I’m not sure I did 😂🥵🥵🥵
You’re a braver man than me Gary, your first mouthful you were totally composed then the heat hit and the panic set in. Amazing effort and thank you for making me decide never to have a crazily hot curry !! 👏👏🤪
Thank you very much, Sean, I thought they gave me the wrong bill to start with but I soon realise they didn’t 🥵🥵🥵
Only recently started watching Gary so I'm now doing some older videos. This one was so funny! I could almost feel the pain as Gary attemped to eat it all. Great effort and we certainly weren't let down!
Glad you enjoyed it Stuart thank you
OMG Gary, this was the funniest review video of yours that I've seen so far! When you had the first taste and said "It's not that bad" - I was like.. Wait for it... I wasn't disappointed, hope ring sting wasn't too bad the next day hahaha, best wishes Stephen
Thank you Stephen, the spice hit me like wow 🥵🥵
It's not too bad!!
I said the exact same thing when I first tried a Phaal and 3 seconds later I was almost in tears.
A word of advice for the next time you try something spicy. Do not drink water. All that does is spread the spice around. The best thing is actually milk, yoghurt, ice cream anything that has milk in it. Bread also helps.
Good effort on the challenge you certainly made it through more than I did.
Good grief it was awful
😂 oh my goodness Gary, you were comedy gold on this video. Well done for taking on a Phaal. No way am I gonna try one after that. I’m stunned you got through as much as you did of it. You’re a 10/10 for me. ❤ 😊
I have to say, I’ve only just got over this one 🥵🥵🤣🤣
@ @GaryEats - I had the funniest thing happen today…. My sister is in hospital and lunch was served, she took a bite and pulled the most hideous face because of the taste of it… I said to her… “You’re not exactly Gary Eats!…” and she burst out laughing. Turns out she watches you too on here! We spent a good wee while talking about your videos and how lovely you are. Thank you Gary! This was a really good moment to share in the scheme of hospital visits! 🥰🫶🏻 thank you xx
That is absolutely brilliant, thank you for sharing that story and I hope your sister gets better soon
@@GaryEats thank you Gary, I will pass that on to her and it will make her day! 😊❤️
You didn't let anyone down mate 😂 You gave it a bloody good go! I bet that stung the following morning 😅😅😅😅
It was a bit painful 🥵🥵
