      @@theeggman4806 It's likely an accident, since the switch uses a non-standard PD protocol. Nintendo has actually been pretty cool with 3rd party accesories, even unofficial ones. While I'm sure Nintendo would prefer you buy an official dock, them frying your switch means you spend less on games.
      It's possible manufacturers could have reverse engineered the PD protocol to avoid frying the switch, but without some sort of Nintendo License/Approval, it does lack confidence even from myself.
      They would make more money if you buy $300 worth of games than if you buy new Switch for $300.

    • @joemann7971
      @joemann7971 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@theeggman4806 Also, I do believe, as he mentioned in the video, that PD protocol is handled by the power supply, not the dock itself. So, if you use an official power brick, you should be fine. So, just use an official power brick, and you're good to go.

    If your switch gets bricked you can pick up a solder rework station and replace the M92T36630380 tiny chip right next to the large memory modules. It's a power issue that either confuses or fries that specific chip when using a third party dock.

    To reach perfection it could have an ethernet adapter built-in with a port on the back.

    Another person already mentioned this but I just wanted to make it clear, 3rd party docks and power supplies, while technically work with the switch, have a power delivery problem and thus have the ability to fry your system. Nintendo only condones the use of 1st party docs and power supplies and officially licensed battery banks. In the end, this means that the only safe Nintendo switch dock is the official one, and NEVER USE 3dr party power supplies for using the switch in docked mode. I will link wulf den videos for more on this subject in the replies to this comment.

I was wondering will this Dock work with your switch backwards, so if you got some damaged pinns on the usb-c it will not Dock in the normal Dock but can you turn it around in this one so it uses Other pinns? I do not see this thing frying your switch, all it does is use the voltage from usb to function (because you can use it unplugged from wallsocket) and generate some sort of input/output signals so yeah nicely done by brook.

      Even if you reshell the original switch dock, the lite won't output a video signal. You can still charge and use usb accessories though

    Hey Vince, what do you do if you discover your Nintendo Switch has been bending/warping even if you've looked after it well?

    The important question is why did you place the TV on the floor beside a door?
    Also, who thought it'll be ok to change from the blue to purple? I can't even differentiate between blue and green sometimes.
    Still a great video mate. Liked!

    It looks very nice but wasn't there a lot of issues with 3rd party docks bricking Switches a while back? I would be concerned about something like that happening, even though my switch is currently out of commission. Woke up one day and wouldn't turn on was really bummed.

    I have a third party dock and I think it still works fine, but I haven't used it in a few months. Should I not use it in the future and if so, are there docks that let you play without a monitor that wouldn't be susceptible to any issues?
