im so glad more people are talking about the toxicity of cancel culture. what stevie said really resonated with me. at secondary school when I was about 13 me and my mates use to say the n word to each other because I literally thought it was a synonym for 'mate' and had never heard it in it's racial context (im from a small village and everyone at my school was white) but as soon as I learned the deeply offensive nature of the word I have never ever used it since and would never dream of saying it. the sad thing is though that if I was famous I would 100% be cancelled and branded as racist because of PURE ignorance.
Rappers themselves have been keeping that word alive and have even been popularizing it since the 90's (for money), so yeah... Maybe they should stop degrading themselves by not using that word anymore in "every one" of their rap songs. They know kids of all colors are gonna hear them and be influenced by it. @@hakim2546 Exactly, everyone has different opinions which evolve over time. The creator has the freedom to say whatever they want, but as a society, I, as an individual, have the right to call them a racist and then not support them. It's a 2 way street.

I think that since social media reached its top, it is so hard to be original and to gain appreciation. Basically because everyone is trying to be original and be themselves, it's hard to do when everything has been seen before. Then you're called a copy. Therefore people feel the need to bring down others or go to extremes just to feel validated and forcing yourself to be something you are not, meanwhile fooling yourself that "this is you" because this version of yourself is getting recognition and the real "you" is not.

But when you become friends with so many of these people and grow to love them, then say something or make a joke about them or their culture or whatever, surely if you have all these friends that are black for example and you’ve made a “racist” joke. Surely if you’ve accepted so many black people into your life and become friends with them, surely you aren’t racist or whatever scenario you might be in. Just me?!
I agree as it's equal to if my black mate said something along the lines of "you white boy won't beat me in a race" and then I say but you "black boy won't beat me at a swim". If you can banter like that and you know neither of you are serious and are both joking then I don't see a problem as that just shows that your friendship is well beyond a minor bit of racism. Also I have a ton of black mates and other mates from multiple cultchers and we all poke fun at eachother every now and then but we all know it's jokes and bantering sarcasm.

Cancel culture has to stop !!!!! Why on earth are we teaching kids mistakes can’t be made, it’s absolutely ridiculous ! Has to stop
I mean your have a point but in the same time some make the same mistake over and over again. Then they apologize and for people (who are doesnt affected by it) its all good. I mean in this comment are so many people who are aigainst cancel culture but i see people (like pedofils, racist, etc) driving with this. It doesnt happen anything. There have more fans then ever. @@sa-maganz5526 No, boycotting and cancel culture are different. If you don't like someone don't support them, speak out against them, but you have no right to tell them they can't speak.
Sa-Ma ganz Cancelling is never good. It depends on the consequences. If some pone is racist, they can apologize and if they are still racist then people can stop supporting them.
@@inversion9651 Thats was canceling can mean stop sopporting this person as a whole. And other Person have right to disagree, tell there opionen and kritik someone.
Sa-Ma ganz That’s not cancelling. Cancelling is getting rid of someone. If someone supports someone else who is cancelled, they get attacked by cancellers. And someone who’s cancelled doesn’t have the right to speak and people try to fire them from their jobs or get them banned on social media. It’s honestly pathetic.
The problem is social media has given people the idea that every single opinion they have about every situation is relevant and needs to be shared to the world. If they've seen a tiktok about a subject they think they know enough to start preaching their opinions to people. The delusion, entitlement and self importance of it all is wild.

I agree with Tobi how backwards cancel culture agenda is. The actor for elongated man on flash for example gave the show much needed humour and his arcs are about change... but then he loses his job after cancel culture riots at him for saying mysoginst tweets back in 2012-13. I admit they're messed up but then again there's no limit to how someone can grow yet after a small uproar the CW release him and don't want to refer themselves with him. They clearly didn't do a background check on him when he joined in early 2019 but now that he got backlash for doing something in 2012 , the CW decides to cut him off in late 2020 even tho he apologised for what he did back then as well.
Yha and this is why people call them immature cause they don't know that people can change from worst to better. Also the past is in the past who wants to remember all those years ago of what happen cause people has to be careful when they do that to others and talk about their past as it can create problems for that person who tried and helped get fixed.
Did ralph seriously lose his role?
Fuck that. The CW is a piece of shit.
You've sort of glossed over the fact that a lot of those tweets were extremely racist, and homophobic, and can be traced to as recently as 2015. This is a really, really bad example. While I agree to an extent some of it is OTT, this isn't one of those cases.

It's not just cancel culture, it's Stan culture as well. These kids borderline worship their favourite celebs to the point where anything their celeb says becomes their gospel.
A celeb may advocate for trans rights, but the Stan takes that and turns it into a way to attack those who don't stan the same person/compete with the celeb in question
All these Stan accounts are toxic, cancelling people from their tweets when they’re basically in their early teens
i wouldn’t say all but i agree. the majority of stan accounts are so obsessed to the point where they do go back years in tweets and they do “call them out” and think they’re doing the right thing when actually, they’re ruining someone’s life for something they did years ago.
please don't label all teens as this. I get it is probably mostly people of this demographic, but I really hate the younger generation (mine) is being viewed in this way. People should actually figure out why some people in their teens are obsessive over content creators. Can the content creators themselves please address it? There's so much of a bigger problem and it's just the first step to identify that it exists.

@@Cal2929 what about the people that don’t change and still hold those terrible views? the word canceled gets thrown around so much by people that it has completely lost its meaning and people suddenly think it’s the worst thing in the world.
I remember when canceling people was due to the most serious charges like rape, assault, murder and extortion (usually sexual but also financial) that directly scarred the lives of many men and women who were preyed upon in the entertainment sector when they were minors to young adults...look where we are now folks...
@@juanc7708 I think people should be called out on the shit they’ve done but also they should be given a chance to grow and evolve to become better people. That’s the whole point of the new modern standards right?
The fact that these celebrities are apologising to these people and giving them attention is why cancel culture is popular.
People just lack self love and aren't happy with themselves these days. That's why this is a thing
Finally! Influences are now starting to grow some ball and say no to this BS. Average folk do not have the platform to stop this, it's the influences that have to stand up with the average person.
The 1 thing that annoys me most is that these people who bring stuff up from YEARS ago genuinely think ppl can’t change. I mean the Jack Maynard thing was the start of it.... so so stupid.
bruh i swear they will try to cancel a 30 year old man for saying the n-word when he was 12

yeah dream smp stans who where butt hurt that tommy made a vid with ksi tried making points that happened from 2010-2012 and it is so irritating also they try and bring up barely offensive jokes and act like they are also valid points
im so glad more people are talking about the toxicity of cancel culture. what stevie said really resonated with me. at secondary school when I was about 13 me and my mates use to say the n word to each other because I literally thought it was a synonym for 'mate' and had never heard it in it's racial context (im from a small village and everyone at my school was white) but as soon as I learned the deeply offensive nature of the word I have never ever used it since and would never dream of saying it. the sad thing is though that if I was famous I would 100% be cancelled and branded as racist because of PURE ignorance.
Rappers themselves have been keeping that word alive and have even been popularizing it since the 90's (for money), so yeah...
Maybe they should stop degrading themselves by not using that word anymore in "every one" of their rap songs. They know kids of all colors are gonna hear them and be influenced by it. I think it's kinda hypocritical.
I think in a more black area sayin the n word would get you bad reprocussion and it’s always like that. But it’s because you was from a predominantly white area that the word was normal to u and it’s no problem really

Can we appreciate the distinction between cancel culture and holding people accountable. Lots of people take it too far and try and look for any reason to cancel influencers which is what you're talking about. However, ultimately if a content creator is holds views that I find offensive, eg. transphobic/homophobic/racist, then it is fine for me to stop watching and supporting them
Who defines what is homophobic or racist
@@hakim2546 Exactly, everyone has different opinions which evolve over time. If I don't want to watch a content creator because in my mind they are racist, and the overwhelming majority of society thinks the same, then I don't have to watch the creator anymore. If enough people agree, then the creator is 'cancelled'.
The creator has the freedom to say whatever they want, but as a society, I, as an individual, have the right to call them a racist and then not support them. It's a 2 way street.
You’re a great host! I’d put u up there with my favorites to watch

i think if someone says something that’s like racist or homophobic or what ever, i think we should give them the chance to learn and educate them on why that’s wrong but if they keep making those mistakes and saying certain stuff, that’s when they don’t deserve their platform
Absolutely agree that cancel culture is so harmful, but at the same time people need to take accountability and apologise for their actions, slurs can hurt people, and if you as a person have changed then surely it’s no skin off your teeth to apologise?
But the problem is getting cancelled for literally nothing.
Ah yes, allow me to apologise for something I said in 2010 when I have 99% probably changed my opinion on it or was too stupid to comment in the first place.
Can you post this clip as a post on IG?! Honestly this needs to be shared a lot, myself and so many others are tired of cancel culture, its so pointless FFS..

A lot of cows who follow each other, "oh my friends are drinking, i need to drink too eve tho i don't like it"
"My friends love this show/music/whatever i need to watch or listen to this too".
Love how people say you can still be racist or homophobic or whatever if you have friends that are gay, black, whatever, I understand that kind of.
@clownerymass Not saying you can't lmao. Just saying that if you joking about it with your mates who you know is fine with it and they very much take it as a joke as it is then it is fine.
